Hands in the air. STEP OUT. HANDS IN THE AIR. Turn away. Walk backwards towards the sound of my voice. >> All right, everyone. I'm Frank Slope, coming up on 25 years as a sworn deputy sheriff here in Arizona. Today, we're going to be doing some body cam breakdown. Code Blue Cam is one of our favorite channels. It's where we found this video. We've used them before. We're going to use them again. But, today, we're going to be using them while we do some body cam bingo. So, this is card number two. We sell a set of five on the website. If you want to go there, check it out. You order them. I'll package it and send it to you. But, uh let's see how card two does on today's video. >> Deputies are in the area to arrest this man, but he hasn't stolen or evaded anyone. He just has a very questionable ride. >> That looks way too much like a police vehicle. >> Listen, when I saw it, you thought, "Hey, who's this guy?" >> Yeah, exactly. >> I'm going to turn the lights on. I got more than you got. >> Damn it, there's no gun. >> Yeah. >> I'm looking at a shotgun. >> It was around noon on May 10th, 2025, and Walton County Sheriff's deputies are about to pull over this Ford Explorer after securing an arrest warrant for its driver, 61-year-old James Pearson. >> Step out of the car. Right there. See you. Hands in the air. Step out. Hands in the air. >> I stopped a car that looked like it was going to be impersonating a law enforcement car here in Arizona. It ended up being the Sultan from the Republic of Slowjamastan. And then, I looked at his car, and it didn't say police on it. And it didn't say law enforcement on it. It didn't say anything It didn't have anything to do with law enforcement. It just looked like it. But, it didn't if you actually read what was on there. Nothing said police or law enforcement or anything like that. It wasn't made to try to purposefully misrepresent. And that is why the Sultan didn't get any tickets from me. He didn't get any tickets from me because he didn't break any laws. This guy driving around with police on the side of his car and red and blue lights and a siren and a shotgun and a spotlight and everything else, very different. You know what the Sultan had? He had a Super Soaker. He didn't have a shotgun. He wasn't trying to look like the police. So, this guy needs to take a visit to Slow Jams Land, talk to the Sultan, and figure out how to do this right. >> You don't even have a shirt on. >> of my voice. Keep walking. Keep walking until I tell you to stop. Keep walking. Stop. Get down on your knees. Get down on your knees. Hands behind your back. Got him. >> All right, hold on. I got that. I got that, Ace. >> I'm going to help you stand up. >> Thank you. Thank >> You ready? All right. >> You got anything in >> No. I'm coming over to search you. >> All right, step out. Face front of the car. >> Face front of the car? >> 10-33. >> I don't like the sound of my voice. >> Keep walking. Keep walking. Keep walking. Careful of that curb. Stop right here. All right, now you're just being detained, sir. Okay? >> Okay. >> What's going on? Sit right here on the curb for me. >> Okay. >> What's your Are you Mr. Pearson? All right, sit down. >> You got a warrant. >> Why? >> Sit down. >> Okay. Can I get home and get my cat and stuff and >> We'll talk about it in a second, okay? >> going on? >> Just stand right there, okay? >> And while James's car looks like a police squad vehicle, he [music] is not a deputy. The reason for this arrest started three days earlier. >> Do you think those so-called natural products at your local chain grocery store are actually good for you? Think again. They've all been bought out by mega corporations and private equity firms. They hijack these beloved brands and fill them with the same corporate slop as everyone else. But one company is doing things differently, The Van Man Company. Ever actually read what's on your toothpaste? Fluoride, SLS, glycerin, foaming agents. Big toothpaste is selling you a chemical cocktail. The Van Man Company is changing that with their Miracle Tooth Powder. It uses real grass-fed cattle bone hydroxyapatite. It's the same mineral structure as your actual teeth. It remineralizes and strengthens enamel naturally. It's completely edible like anything that you put in your mouth should be. Users report whiter teeth and less plaque. Make the switch to real oral care. Go to vanman.shop/frank and use code Frank for 15% off your first order. That's vanman.shop/frank and use code Frank for 15% off your first order. Van Man, real ingredients, no exceptions. >> That thing looks way too much like a police vehicle. It's got Santa Rosa Beach Police on the side of it. >> Definitely. >> Nice looking animal. >> Hey, what are you based out of? >> About a year. I used to be a And I sell you guys firearms, the AR-15s and stuff. >> That thing looks way too much. But then I think it's supposed to. >> I think you're right right there at the line. >> I mean that's my >> I know I got >> That's why I'm a dealer. >> No, no, no, I got >> And I'd like you to come by and sell some stuff here. >> Give me a favor, what I'm going to do is I'm going to give you this stuff back. I'm going to get some pictures of this real quick so I can make a note of this. >> across the board in our in our system because listen, when I saw it, you thought, "Hey, who's this guy?" >> Yeah, exactly. >> Yeah, I understand. >> 100% >> Everywhere I go, everybody says, "Hey, what is that? The police uh Santa Rosa Beach Police Department? >> Yeah, did that just say >> I got no read. It's >> No, no, no, I get that. Yeah, how are you? We turn the lights on? >> I got more than you got. It's for a purpose so you could tell you have >> No, I'm not saying that. I just think it needs to be more clearly defined this is a a private entity and not a >> Not police vehicle. >> Not a police vehicle. The only way I can tell that is till I stood right there. Wally Willoughby is our our procurement person. >> Yeah, I left a message >> with him, all right. >> but he didn't call me back. >> You go ahead and follow up with him. >> Don't call me out. Hey, listen, I'm building a emergency management van for right there right now and I want you to come by when I'm done with it and let you see it so you all can see what it is. >> Absolutely. Okay. I appreciate you. You got >> All right, you have a good one, too. >> I I didn't till I got right up next to it. See the little supply on there and see the little supply on there. I didn't see it. I get what he's doing to it but that's that's too much. >> Have Have a Have a police on there just in by itself. >> Yeah, yeah, it's it's one of those until until I got beside him and saw the police spot. And I saw it but I wanted to know who he was and didn't identify him. >> Oh, yeah, for sure. That's super alike and that's a Santa Rosa Supply. >> It's the first. >> Too much. Too close. Too much. Too much. >> Especially when you have police on the back. >> Yeah. >> So, I drive an unmarked car and when I get out 90% of the time or more, I'm in uniform. I'm easily identified as a law enforcement officer. If you're out there in the internet and you're getting pulled over by a car and it just doesn't seem like it's a actual police car. There's nothing wrong with putting on your flashers slowing down to a manageable speed that where if it is a law enforcement officer where they know that you're acknowledging them. You can always call 911 and say, "Hey, I'm being pulled over by a car. I don't think that it's a real police car. This is where I'm at." If it is a real police car the dispatcher will say, "Oh, yeah, my it's my deputy or my officer or my trooper is out with you." And then you can go about your business. Not a problem at all. It happens incredibly infrequently, but does it happen where people pull bad guys pull good people over in cars that look like cop cars? Yes, it happens. It is incredibly seldom. So, don't go thinking that every unmarked police car that you see out there is is a impostor because it doesn't happen a lot. But, there's ways to to make sure. >> Yes, so what I'm going to do, I'm not going to charge you right here today. I'm going to send you a letter telling him he needs to take that thing down off, you know? >> Yeah, that's way too I haven't even seen that vehicle. >> I had neither and I was pulled beside him and I saw the badge that said "Center Road Beach Police". And >> No. And lights? >> Lights. >> Oh, listen, he's got an empty he's got a holster without the Glock on it in there and then computers, the whole nine. It's it's a marked-out police vehicle. He goes, "And I said, you got a gun on you?" He goes, "No." I said, "The gun's missing out of that holster right there. You have a gun on you?" >> Yeah. >> No. So, you know, he's he's got a business license for sure, but that is >> way way way too much. >> Yes, it's not going to put him in jail right here on the side of the road with this, but I'm fixing to fixing to deal with him, so. >> It seems that James has not only ignored this warning letter from the authorities, but has also continued to drive the fully marked fake squad around the city under the excuse of his business. >> No, nothing in the back that I can see, the front's clear. >> Yeah. >> You probably have a gun in here, okay? >> Yeah. >> Don't try to reach in the ammo in the back. >> You want to pop the hood? Yeah. >> I asked you where your guns at. >> Where's your guns at? At home. >> So, all the ammo in here, no guns? >> I got like 2 minutes for me to just run up here and grab a part before they close. I was working on the boat. That's where your heart is. >> So, I just see the ammunition. >> I know, I'm explaining why there's no gun. I just jumped in the car to run up here to get a part. >> All right, you need to explain something to >> Yeah, I got it up. >> It was clear you had a gun yesterday. >> I told him there's no gun. Yeah. >> I'm looking at a rack with a shotgun in it. >> Oh, yeah, nothing in it. >> Yeah, forgot about that. >> Because it's been in there forever. >> Yeah. >> Yes, sir, there's a shotgun locked up in the rack. Yes, sir. >> Hey. >> Yeah, I What are you thinking about? it? Like my handgun you were asking me about. Yes, this is a shotgun. It won't be chambered or anything and this is Please tell me what's going on. >> Today, literally like an hour or two ago, I was made aware that you got a warrant. >> Why? >> I don't know what the warrant's about. So, we've been we've been looking for you. As soon as we seen you come through. >> I already seen you earlier, but >> I went to look at a boat and then I came back down here and >> I got you. >> This is embarrassing, man. >> The warrant >> It's [snorts] for what? My car? >> I I don't know. Is the owner right over here, your friend? Has a warrant for his arrest. For police impersonation and falsely displaying stuff on a vehicle, so >> That's his business. >> I know it's his business, but the way it's displayed is a violation of Florida state statute. Oh, did you just get pulled over? >> Yeah, from Maximus 203 days ago. >> The sheriff pulled you over? Okay. What happened? >> No, he pulled me over and and he he's he said, "Who are you?" and I told him and gave him my card and everything, you know, cuz I have the police supply and I said, "Hey, I've been working on you deputies have been coming out to the shop there and I've been showing you my card and doing I tried to get, you know, you guys knowing who I am and getting my business from you. >> This isn't James's first encounter with the law. In the past, he's been accused of keeping firearms and law enforcement badges from deputies. But despite this warrant, James believes he has the perfect explanation for driving the car. >> Could I please stand up? My back is hurting. >> All right, you stand up, all right? You run from me, I'm going to take you back down, okay? >> I ain't like that guy. I ain't running anywhere. >> I haven't even seen your car before like before I was a cop, right? What What do you do? >> I police supply. My cards are in there. I don't have any My cards are in there. I'm building a band for a emergency management. >> Uh this is my fourth day. >> Okay. I used to have my police supply on Goldsby Road for 10 plus years. >> Yeah, Goldsby down there on the right. >> Yeah, and I sold you guys weapons and stuff in the past. I closed it because I'm also a general contractor and I and it was really busy at the time. I couldn't do both. So, I did that and now that I'm retired from that because I'm hurting, you know, from the surgery and stuff, I went ahead and opened my police supply business up and I'm trying to get your business and this is how they see it and you're going to do it. I'm pretending to be a police officer. >> This guy's a LARPer. He's a live action role player. He just He wants to look the part and he wants to, you know, have a radar in his car and he wants to have a red and blue lights and a siren and he wants to own a police shop where he invites cops over. But he doesn't want to do the job. He just wants to associate with cops. Um I just I got I got no time for this guy. It's uh I just I don't I don't see the usefulness in it. I mean, if he's got that much free time, he should probably pick a hobby that doesn't draw attention from local law enforcement. >> Yeah, right here. You have the ID and I sent an email to Atkinson Friday. Yeah, it was just me saying, "Hey, I mean, about the traffic stop. I thought you knew who I was and I'm glad that we got to meet. I want to come meet with you in person or >> Right. Unbelievable. >> if you would come out to the shop so we can >> him down already? >> Yes. >> And obviously he's taking this place to get money stuff. >> So we can see what we're doing and get my business. You know what I'm saying? >> If you actually were supplying police supplies, yes. Like what kind of police supplies? >> duty gear, belts, um you know, whatever. Badges. The business cards are Here, can you get my wallet out? >> Yeah, sure. >> Take my business card. >> Absolutely not. Yeah, I already looked all that up. Here, I don't dig in there. I'll do it. >> No, there's a a card in there. >> So this vehicle here, like you just >> That's my that demo unit. >> Demo? Okay. >> I I don't know what's going on. I don't know. >> I believe you. I believe you. Just relax. Relax. >> I am. When the officer came over to do the VIN verification, I said, "Come on, I want you to check out the vehicle. I got more lights than you guys." So I'm not sure what's going Who I pissed off or why. >> You don't owe me an explanation. I'm not the case. Don't drive around in a car that says police on it. Just hang tight. >> I'm embarrassed. This is embarrassing. >> Don't be embarrassed. >> Dude, why not? This is embarrassing. I'm a businessman. >> I got you. >> I'm out here with no shirt on and nothing cuz I We had to run. They close at noon. >> He can leave if he wants to. >> Is this gentleman free to leave? >> Yeah, he's free to leave. >> What are we doing with this partner? >> He's free to go. >> Okay. >> What is the warrant? >> It's for some kind of fraudulent impersonation and another one. >> See, that's what I'm saying. I don't understand that. >> It says police on your car. What don't you understand? >> The warrant has been confirmed, okay? >> Yep. Hey, what about my car? Can I drive the car home? Huh? >> No, cuz the car is one of the charges. >> Yep. >> Can I need a my phone to get >> The car is going as evidence. >> Going to the >> But I might have left it at the house. Can we put these in the front? >> Huh? >> I'm not at risk. >> No, the policy states got to be in the back. Even if you were 90 years >> I would say put those in the front. >> is complains about cops. I think you're right. I think that one works. >> I believe these are going to be felony charges. You're going to have to look at it. You're going to have to see a judge, okay? I haven't seen the warrant, but I believe one of them is a felony charge. >> The deputy is absolutely right about one thing though. The car itself is the charge. >> criminal law motor vehicle law are separated. They're in different parts of the statute. Under the criminal law portion, there is impersonating a police officer. Um during that, a person a suspect has to make someone submit to a a perceived authority. In other words, I'm in a I'm not a law enforcement officer and I conduct a traffic stop on you, where you are submitting to my authority. Or I identify myself, "Hey, I'm a cop. Give me your driver's license." Someone says something like that, and then someone actually says, "Okay, here's my driver's license. I didn't know you were a a police officer." Um those would be things where where impersonating a police officer would be the the applicable charge. Um for this one, we're starting to go down the motor vehicle route where Arizona law prevents vehicles from having lamps that are uh capable of displaying red or blue lights to the front. Um that's kind of it. Um, there's not there's not a lot in Arizona law that says that you can't drive around in that car. Um, there's I'm sure there's some nuance that says that you can't um misuse an official insignia. So, if you were using a badge or a star um that that's probably a violation, but I'd really have to look deep. Again, not something that we deal with all the time. Um, and I've never dealt with someone using a fully marked fake police car. So, uh in Arizona I don't think we have the same teeth that they have in Florida about this. >> And as they test its features, they can't help but be amused by just how closely it mirrors an actual squad car. >> Yeah, we're just going to take the ammunition out. >> Take the ammunition and the shotgun out. >> What is the case number for this case number for this? >> I just want to make sure we got all that inside cuz to me that's evidence of personation. You know, you got radar, you got gun in the rack like you have, you got a radio in the backseat, computer stand with computer. I'm like, come on. You got police on the side of your car. In God we trust, law enforcement. I love it, man. You got everything but credentials, right? >> Yeah. >> [laughter] >> A badge style insignia reading Santa Rosa Beach Police was clearly visible on both sides of the vehicle along with the word police printed across the side and rear panels. The SUV also had a light bar, rear window emergency lights, and a spotlight mounted on the A-pillar making it nearly indistinguishable from a real patrol unit. >> We're going to take the ammo and the shotgun. >> My other thing is is um check the siren, too. Check the lights, see what color they are. >> Yep. >> Yep. >> Can you see that's the speaker? >> I bet they're red and blue. >> That's blue. >> All blue, yeah. >> All blue, yeah. >> Check it out. >> All units stand by. >> Wow, and a siren. Nope. Oh, there it goes the bags. >> Can I speak to my partner? >> In just a minute. >> All right. I've been driving that vehicle for a year now. You guys have been to my house. I showed you the vehicle. I showed you my shop. I'm trying to get you guys to come do business with me. I don't understand why all of a sudden I'm impersonating a police officer or whatever. >> Cuz you can have it at your house. You can't drive it on the road. >> Okay. Yeah. Again. Again. AGAIN. AGAIN. >> DAMN IT. We're securing the shotgun and the ammo. That's the only thing coming out. >> This all just goes on safekeeping. You can get it back, though. >> Okay. We got to list all the police equipment that's on on the inventory. There's a lot of high-value stuff in here. >> Yeah. Is it real? >> Yeah, it's real. >> [laughter] >> Uh nothing in the pipe. There's some in the tube. >> Yep. >> I'm going to go grab that pistol ammo. >> If you want to go through it, tell me what things are. I'll describe it that way so we have to write it. >> Thank you. >> So write >> I took a phone, but I did take the phone from the car. >> Wait, so we have this phone? >> Yep. >> And what what is that? A flip phone case? >> Uh CYTAC for a Glock 19. Then you got a paddle holster, dual mag case. Ouch. >> Is your shoulder hurting you? >> Yeah, pretty bad. It's okay. >> Yeah, now you're going to have some more mobility today. You can just pivot it. >> I will. I will. >> Okay, you just got >> Oh god, help me, Jesus. That's a little better. I I asked him and he said no because he's by the rules. You need not put him in the front. >> No. >> Okay. All right. >> So it's a policy thing. We can get in trouble for that. >> I I understand. >> Ultimately, James was charged with operating with intent to mislead official agency vehicle and he was released on a $25,000 surety bond. >> Card number two. The only thing I got is that he complained about the handcuffs when he was in the back of the car. But that's it. It not not a great body cam bingo video, but a really interesting video.
