Florida in March of 2021 pulled over a pickup truck that hadn't been registered in 10 years and had no tail lights the driver then became extremely irate and started berading the officers as they stood by for over an hour the guy then decides to call 911 on the officers right in front of them hello how you doing good ma'am what seems to be the problem um you have your license your registration Insurance on you what seems to be the problem you got a headlight out a tail light out no tag light good problem I understand it's an old truck but you got your license registration Insurance it might just be a switch or something you know okay that's fine get your license to registration insurance no you don't no oh did you leave it you don't have one what's going on not my truck man okay these aren my P it's my driver's license okay do you is there a registration or a insurance card for the truck it's from Texas it's my friend from Texas okay that doesn't answer my question I don't have any pay maam why why not he never give me any okay to get you know he said use the truck and I'm using the truck and you didn't give me no paperwork you didn't say you're here here's my you know here's some paperwork well typically the paperwork is kept in a vehicle okay and then second of all whenever you're in actual physical control of a vehicle that you're driving you're supposed to be make sure that you have all the proper paperwork for it I like her bage honest I'm not lying to you I'm not I'm not saying that you are I'm just letting you know that I know it's not your truck but when you're driving a vehicle you're supposed to have all the paperwork to it it's your responsibility to make sure you have that you're the captain of your ship okay just letting you know that's common sense and um so obviously he wanted to talk cuz he did a lot of it well because I'm going to tow the car cuz it hasn't been registered in 10 years so I'm trying to be civil with you and asking you to step out so I can talk to you and then we can try to get you a ride so I'm asking you to step out of the car they want they want to me to step out of the vehicle so they can pound the vehicle so they can make money yeah they got got make money you're going to make money off of this this car has not been registered in 10 years sir you have no registration for it and no insurance card so I'm asked you one more time to step out of the car if if I don't step out of the car there's going to be health pain on this mother that's true get out of the car I've been very nice with you you've been nothing Texas it's registered in Texas they don't have tax so the one thing that the suspect has correct is that Texas doesn't have tax tabs on your license plate um in Arizona we have a tab and it renews every time you renew your registration you get a new tab the tab shows the expiration date uh of the uh of the the registration so you get updated tabs where you keep your same plate uh Texas doesn't have that they don't have tabs um so I run every Texas plate that I see because I have no other way to verify what the expiration of the registration is so I run that plate just to see what the registration expiration is um so he was correct like hey look they don't have tabs that's correct they don't um but I'm sure that this officer during the course of her traffic stop probably noticed a truck with you know One Headlight one tail light ran the plate out of Texas came back expired 10 years previous that's a pretty solid reason for a traffic stop because there's multiple violations so she's she's totally good on her Reasonable Suspicion for the Stop um she articulat it well I don't see any issues with it um this guy really has has some heartache on the fact that he's in um Florida driving a plate out of tech you know registered out of Texas but I mean that doesn't relinquish you from your responsibility like hey man call your best friend and be like hey make sure you update the registration on this thing I've had it here for a decade you pull that record on that Texas plate you'll find out a register probably not true they mean get out of the vehicle and then you're going to the truck away who's the truck registered to my best friend yeah where is he he's in Texas where the truck is from with a Texas plate I'm just asking you a question you not need and they don't have tags they don't need to have tags in Texas it's different laws you run that plate right now you'll find out it's registered we ran it twice we ran it through ourselves and through our dispatch to let us know that it has not been registered in 10 years so you might want to this is going to cost me a crapload of money this is going to cost me tow truck money and Salvage tow it they're going to store tow truck give him a citation and kick him loose okay and how how expires your tag they don't have tags in Texas sir they don't they don't have tags in Texas no sir they do not you don't renew your okay it's it's 100% not registered in Texas it's not registered it's expired 10 years we have a database in Texas Texas goes back and says it's expired exactly what what's the exact what's the exact date 2011 has been expired since 311 2011 no insurance cut so what you're going to need to do is work on a ride okay cuz you cannot drive this vehicle on the roadway I will push it off this road well it's going to get towed off this road why do you got can you let me push it no why because then if we leave and you come back and you remove the vehicle and get in a motor accident I lose my job you in an instance like this um it's a great charge to be able to put your hands on someone and book them into jail um so I'm kind of jealous that the State of Florida has it and harassment harassment for violation of for statute the traffic stop n and asking me if I'm on drugs that's harassment that's conducting an investigation typical procedural question yep oh really she didn't ask me if I chugged in the v she asked me if I was on drugs I stereotyping and that's pulling me over stereotyping that's pulling me over you I've asked if I could just push the vehicle off the road they wouldn't let me arrested why sorry you're running me you you hit me on the ground dude resist arrest like just arrested arrest you could have left with two tickets and now you got two more charges 19 were you still heading to that I was going to check that juven walking down the street if you want me to come in for that you're resisting you absolutely did I wasn't resisting sir you to hit me without me resisting you're under arrest when I tell you to put your hands behind your back no you didn't no you didn't I'm not moving she's moving me so you just got two more charges okay for what okay resisting arrest and this 91 res res I did not okay well my body C says definitely on a bet all three of theirs do too so this guy ended up getting charged with four misdemeanors misuse of 911 violation of financial responsibility for property damage meaning not having Insurance resisting an officer without violence and refusal to accept and sign a citation he was appointed a public defender and pretty quickly came to a deal the misuse of 911 and resisting an officer were dropped and he pled guilty to not having Insurance the judge withheld making a judgment on the refusal to accept in sign a citation so I'm assuming that's some sort of thing that can come back if he gets in trouble again but overall he was sentenced to no time in jail or probation and just had to pay $353 in fines on top of whatever the towing and impound fees were
