From Daniel Dudek, a serial shoplifter whose sticky fingers got caught in Walmart's cookie jar for the 10th time in less than 1 month. She's been under-ringing, which means not paying for everything at the registers, putting it in the bags. I reviewed a lot of video going back probably 30 days or more. She's got nine cases against her and still doing the paperwork for it. And she did it again tonight. Um like I said, it's her ninth. This is her 10th time. She would fill a bag up with meat and uh she would never pay for the meat. Fettessa, who met her Waterloo while [music] trying to swipe $649 worth of merchandise from the same store she almost ripped off the previous day. You're under arrest for theft. We've been watching you for a quite a good 20 minutes already. I just paid for that though. I just went to the restroom Tried doing it yesterday, too. >> Yesterday was almost a thousand dollars. >> scared. What? Is she 100% the one that tried to get out yesterday? Um >> Yeah, my court date change her her clothes or anything. Really? So that's $649. That's not counting the refund from Wow. Here are shocking moments when Walmart's most wanted shoplifters are caught red-handed. First on the list of most wanted Walmart shoplifters is this serial shoplifter who framed herself as the victim after she got caught trying to silently harvest merchandise from a Walmart store. Um sounds like you were barred from here previously from a theft, so you're going to be charged additionally with criminal trespass. I didn't steal steal clothes when there's when there's places out there donating clothes out I don't want to hurt anybody. Like I My mom and dad are dead. I don't have anybody. I don't know. They kick my ass. On July the 7th, 2025, officers of the Ohio police station received a call from a Walmart employee reporting a woman who was caught red-handed helping herself with merchandise from the store. To make the situation worse, the woman already had a trespass notice from the store because she had been caught trying to borrow merchandise without any plans to return them. Upon hearing about this, the cops rushed over, arriving just at the nick of time to clip her wings before she could even fly. Did we have Did we deal with you before or something? Yeah. Happened to me. It's been a while. Just They already give you a rundown of what's going on, I assume, before they brought you back here. She admitted she Okay. Okay. Did I miss my court date? I don't Oh, you have warrants, too, huh? Um Do you have a driver's license in your purse? Or ID card? >> Because they didn't see me in my ID. I I don't know why. I I waited and waited and I went to the shelf and asked her if I had my ID and she said that she said if I put it in my purse, I was allowed to. Okay. All right. Does anything sound familiar? Yeah, you've been around me before, you know what I mean? You've been walking around this store for like 2 hours. I knew something. Yeah. Yeah, I knew your name. You didn't even say your name. I knew you had a warrant. So I seen your name yesterday. >> for sure if it was in July. I wasn't for sure where my court date was. I don't know. I'm going to be sitting in jail for a while. I don't know. You're on probation or anything. Yeah. Here for you. Five points. It's a federal peer warrant, I would imagine. You'll see a judge tomorrow. Depending upon all the information that's available. If your probation violates you, chain violates you, then maybe they get a few days longer or whatever. >> he's going to violate me. I just got a feeling he is. Petty theft from two 3 years ago. Already violated you then. He didn't violate me, but I'm sure he's going to. Give you that. Yeah, I'll just I'll forget the summons then I'll just direct charge you. Yeah. Oh. Oh, nothing. I'm just going to attach the If they want chain in the event they want charges, which depending upon what the value of the items you took were, they probably will, then I'll just leave it for jail. I don't know. We're going to have to book you if you have priors. And uh She's been barred. Yeah, as soon as I get her dressed, we'll book her. I've got her wallet and whatever was in my car, too. If you have a prior or we're going to have to bar you again. Um You signed the last one, so but I'll go over it again for you. That's all Walmarts in the world. That's Sam's Clubs and the Murphy gas stations. So if someone shoplifts for you and you're seeing them in the parking lot, that's actually they can call and you can be tres- Yeah, arrested for criminal trespass just being in the parking lot. >> it out for you. Oh, okay. I was just making sure he said he had you another one, so. Well, we always do a second one to re-up. Got you. All that is then restarts the time. >> Yeah. So re-enter it. Cuz you guys do it every 2 years down the road, right? It's usually 2 years, but if they run, we get them we hit them for more than 1 year. We have 1 year, 2 year, or indefinite. I got you. Depending on what goes on, you know what So So from my my standpoint right now, Rachel, just being up front with you, you're going to go to jail on the warrant, okay? Yeah. Um sounds like you were barred from here previously from a theft, so you're going to be charged additionally with criminal trespass and then the theft of the items taken, okay? So my advice to you, once you get all this stuff taken care of, you probably ought to go to the hospital and get your knee looked at Yeah. prior to prior to going in a store and trying to steal some clothes. Seems to be I don't have any clothes. Just going to make sure you I mean I'll tell you right now, there's plenty plenty of people running around town right now handing out clothes. [ __ ] loads. And I mean [ __ ] loads of clothes. I see them all over town handing out clothes on tables. The officers continued searching the cart for more stolen items, and like a magician's hat, it just kept producing. The deeper they reached into what it felt like a never-ending treasure chest, the more shocking the discoveries became. >> Were you from here, too? I got to say, the only receipt we have right now is for the popcorn that she's got there with her. And we got receipt in the bag. And there's stuff in the bag. All inside the bag. Yeah. Some of that uh spray makeup and stuff like her The cans and stuff were taken in here. You walked out the door, too, right? Yeah. Yeah. So that's going to be her. >> Yeah, we'll hang on to whatever. She's got some like cuff That's the stuff that's all except for the trash. And then of course those on her feet are ours. And then take those off. We'll be back there by then. Did she put them on an end cap or on the Okay. I remember where she put them. I'll go get your old ones, okay? Yeah. I mean, you're going to get by a cell phone and you can buy a pair of shoes, you know what I mean? All right. Priorities. You know, you're complaining about holding a shoe, but you bought a cell phone. It seems like priorities are a little out of whack. You need to work with your probation officer to help you get your [ __ ] together. Cuz like all every everybody that I talk to you that gets themselves in this mess and they're on probation and [ __ ] like that, there's plenty more more than enough resources out there. Obviously, not that I can provide it right this second, but they your probation officer and the courts can help you with that. Trust me, they don't want you on probation. to help. The faster they can get you off probation, the better. And the more willing you are to work with them and get yourself off probation, the faster they can get you off probation and get you off on the right foot, so you're not having to and steal shoes and buy a phone and and steal gummy bears and buy a [ __ ] phone card. You know what I mean? I said I didn't steal steal clothes when there's when there's places out there donating clothes out by the [ __ ] metric ton all over Chillicothe. Pulling out of the dumpsters, too. Yeah. And not even not even [ __ ] out of the out of the Goodwill places, but people are just handing them out on tables from their own houses. They're they're behind the Walmart almost every day. >> [snorts] >> So this this I guess would be your chance to start working with your probation officer a little bit more closely. Yeah. And and dating to some of the untapped resources that you have to get you back on your feet. Cuz I mean, this this for us is not the crime of the century. It's just somebody made a bad decision and isn't really prioritizing the [ __ ] that's going on in their life very well. How old is your son? He's 13. Does he have custody of him? Yeah. What team is he on? Where's he going to school at? I don't Don't be digging through there yet. >> I'm not. I put my money in there. Okay. Southeastern. There you go. Hillary, we're the same shoes as her. Stolen. Yeah, I just dropped her off. Could Could do the one-for-one swap for a newer model. They're just worn out a little bit. They're worn out a lot cuz they get rocks in them a lot. Oh, yeah. Just trade them in for a newer model. You was all over the store for must have been 2 hours. Plus she was limping like she broke the wall. I said, "She about wore me out." Yeah. No, my knees like break Why didn't you just leave? Cuz if they would have let me It would have hurt cuz she got caught. I don't know. I don't want you to sit down or something. She's going to walk straight out that way where the cruisers are. I don't know if you can get out that side. We just got this door right here. I don't think we can get out that one. All right, you guys put your hands in front of you. I'll cuff you in front, okay? Yeah. They slipped her into cuffs and escorted her off to jail. But once at the station, she reached into her well-worn bag of tricks, gambling on one last stunt to wriggle herself off the hook. All right, you can have a seat in there. Nothing uh nothing in your bra or in your underwear that's going to get found at the jail, then? No. Cuz I'm not searching you, obviously, so okay. Uh her son knew a few people in that area and I guess he was asking around. I'm sure your PO I don't know if your PO will stop in and talk to you or how they how they do that here. I'd assume he does at some point or talks to you over the video during your court case or how that works. You need to work closer with your PO, though. They have They have far more resources, obviously, than what I have on the street. When everything's going through courts, the courts have resources that I don't have. If it was just a theft, you'd see the judge in the morning. But you've got your own probation, too, so I don't know how they'll work that out with you being on probation. You You told me you were on probation. Yes, so I don't I don't know how that'll work with you being on probation. It'll depend on whether or not your PO violates you or not. Otherwise, you're going to see a judge in the morning. How's that wrist hurting that? Yeah, it does look a little swollen, though. Yeah. You got to slide out the best you can in there. Yeah. I just head through that brown door that's open. Have you ever been here before? Unfortunately, this is what it took, but it's still think about it as step one of getting away from the nonsense. You know what I mean? You got to work with your PO a little bit closer, keep in contact with him, utilize whatever resources he has for scrambling up for you. What if you start to trip on your feet? Call him if you need help. That's what he's there for. I know. He's not just there to breathe down your neck, you know what I Yeah. I'll feel you. I've been on my own I've been on my own since 17, so I know I know where you're coming from. I'm 40 now. I understand. I'm going to leave this with you. I'm going to leave this with your property, too, okay? Her name is Joanna Denny. She is a She's a social worker. She works for the police department. She's not law enforcement. But she has a lot of resources, too. So, between between her and your probation officer, you should have no problem getting back on the right foot. As far as getting out from under whatever this warrants for that's following you around. Getting a place Getting a place to stay, work on getting a job. Work on making sure you get all your medical [ __ ] taken care of. Yeah. Yeah, I do know. I I do know that, yeah. Yeah. And you have a kid that How many kids do you have? One? Two? Yeah, good. You just You just got to get back into that. Cuz you still want to hold it together for them even though they're adults because eventually they eventually they they want to come see their mom, you know what I mean? And they want to see their mom. And you got to be squared away for that. That way they can come back and they can see their mom. They can bring their grandkids to see their mom. She was charged with theft in addition to an outstanding warrant. The next case takes us to Palm Beach, Florida, where 36-year-old Nina almost pulled off a déjà vu stunt on cops after a failed attempt to rip a Walmart store off of $102 worth of merchandise. Haven't you been arrested for before? I feel like I've arrest or charged you for before. For trespass after warning. No, ma'am. Did you leave the store without paying for something? No, I I left everything there. I didn't go So, you watched her for the vitamins in the bag. >> Yeah. Attempt to conceal. Yeah. $102. Can you show me that on video? Yeah. On October the 9th, 2019, deputies with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a Walmart following reports of a shoplifting incident. They arrived quickly, just in time to confront the suspect, 36-year-old [music] Denina, who was mere moments from slipping away. >> What's going on today? I I just got the stuff I just the stuff we picked up. I picked up my daughter's order and I haven't talked to her like I picked up the order. I I I have What is it? I'm here. I'll call my daughter. Hold on. Don't call your daughter. Show me what it is. She She She told me to pick up her stuff. Like go and pick up What time 2:15 I'm 10-12. I have to call her to get the email address. Hold on. No, I don't need that. I need to show that you paid for it. She She said one of Do you have your receipt? She paid for it. Yes, ma'am. That's why I emailed it to you and it's not on my email right now. Okay, work on that. May May I call her? I'll do anything you say. Bear with me. I'll call her right now, please. Okay, go make 10-25 with the other people, please. I'm sorry. Okay, let me calm down. Let me calm down. You're trespassed from there. I told you it's good for you. You know what I I swear to God I didn't have to pull it off. >> I swear to God it's good for you. On my kids' life, I swear. Hey, can you show me what the medicine was? It's okay. She did it. Talk to her. Go stand at the back of the car. Let's talk over here. Yeah. Hey, Sarah, can you send me the receipt So, can you send me the copy of the receipt to my email? All right, send it to my phone right now. All right, love you, bye. What's in there? It's the oil. Oh, yeah, let me see. Okay. Let me see. Hold on. Before you start digging in there, you know you know There's nothing in there? I'm sorry, you can pick that up. Okay. So, you don't have anything on here. You said you got her medicine? It's for the oil? Look, if you have the receipt, then we're going to talk about something completely different. Why you got so many pennies? I I just I was going to cash them in. Okay. I'm making sure you're not throwing them at cards or something. I don't see any medicine in here. What are you talking about? You Okay, so you went there to get her medicine. No, I went there to get her oil stuff. I have the receipt for the stuff. I didn't get it in my cart and I just Do you have the stuff? No, I don't have anything. Okay. So, what are you talking about you got this stuff? I got I paid for my Take a deep breath. Hold on. I paid for my insulin syringes. At the counter. You paid for what? >> syringes. I have the receipt somewhere. Okay. I don't even have them in my brain. She's carrying And then um the oil stuff my daughter sent me the receipt for. The other stuff I was I never got. I called 20 minutes ago. I just grabbed it and I should I have the receipt for it. I did pay for >> All right, you got to slow down. You're talking too fast. I can't hear you. So, you're saying you have the receipt. You said you got insulin needles that you you paid for them in there at the pharmacy counter. The other stuff I had to pick up order for the oil and I think filters. I don't even know what it was. I honestly didn't look. My daughter had me pick it up. The other stuff I left my stuff there before and I just went and grabbed it and I have the receipt. I just went and grabbed it, but I have the receipt. I paid for it. Okay, what other stuff? You got to talk to me. It was just It was just the eye stuff. The the eye stuff? And the doggy stuff? I called him and I have the receipt What receipt are we talking about? I can show you, too. Yeah. Show it to me. Um I can show you in there. Go. What is it? It's a Walmart receipt. I see a Walgreens receipt. >> Walmart. I have it on I have it on my account. I do I have the I have the I have the the pay as you go thing. When is this from? But they're saying you stole something today. Why would they think that you stole something? I know. I know. Okay. Yeah. She knows. She thought it was done after a year. Okay. Haven't you been arrested for before? I feel like I've arrested or charged you for it before. For trespass after warning. Who's he? Just a friend? All right. Look. Look. Right now you don't have anything. If I go look in that bathroom, what am I going to find? Look. Look. You're good with hanging out for just a second. We're going to start sort this out, okay? And you're staying. Did you leave the store without paying for something? Okay. Where did you put it down at? You left it at the door? Okay. It was remarkably bold of Nina to return to the same store just 1 year after being trespassed. She convinced herself that 12 months was more than enough time for memories to fade, that no one would recognize her. And up until when she was apprehended, it seemed her gamble had actually paid off. Everything I left at the store. You don't have anything on you right now? Okay. So, if you left it at the store, then that's not a crime. Did you drop it when they called your name and told you to stop? Okay. But you were already out of the store when they tried to stop you. You're still in the store when they tried to stop you. Okay. All right. Can you hang out with her for a second? Okay. Sit tight. Although the deputies hadn't yet found any evidence to support the store's claims against Nina, years of experience told them that her shaky voice and visible unease were classic signs of someone hiding something. They decided to search the restroom, but little did they know that what they were about to discover would only add to their frustration. 2:15 to 2:14 on talk. Hi. Yes. You're all out front. Where did she go when she came in here? I don't even know. Okay. Thank you. Charlie 2:15 to Charlie 2:14 on talk. After thoroughly searching the restroom, they came up empty-handed. At that point, doubts began to creep in. Maybe it was a false alarm, or perhaps they had the wrong person. Does she have a cart? Did she throw anything in the cart? So, you watched her put the vitamins in the bag? Attempt to conceal? Okay. Out this door? Okay. Yeah. Uh-huh. So, you were outside on the apron? You were in here? You passed the first set of doors. Okay. Can you show me that on video? Do you swear that statement's true? I'm going to swear it to you on video before we get her out of here now. Okay. And she cuts through here. The registers are over here and she cuts through there. Okay. Okay. That's her with her shawl on. And you showed your badge. Identified yourself as loss prevention. Trying to get out of the store. Okay. Over at the police cruiser, Nina seemed to have an entirely different version of what had happened. You said the stuff is all What do you mean? What stuff? Like I'm for real I'm Take take a breath now, okay? Where's the receipt for the rest of it? Do you have it with you? Okay. When she comes back out, we'll let Did you already let her know, the other deputy? Okay. Why Why did you run? Just Do me a favor. Nina. Look at me. Do me a favor. Take a breath. Okay? You're going to have a panic attack for for something that may not be nothing, okay? Well, that's why she's here. She's got to go talk to them. She's the It's This is her zone. This is her call. I'm just here trying to help out, okay? So, she's got to go in She I know. I know, but she's got to go in there and talk to them, find out what what's what, okay? Well, that's what I said. Take a breath, okay? You're You're freaking out over what may be nothing. All right. We'll just We'll relax, okay? All right. We'll just relax, okay? In the end, she was convicted of petty theft and trespassing, receiving a sentence of 180 days for the theft and an additional 18 days for the trespassing. Unlike any serial shoplifter ever caught, Daniel Dudek got caught for the 10th time while trying out a five-finger discount at a Walmart. On August the 17th, 2024, Officer Michael Hile with the Lacey Township Police Department responded to a Walmart following a report of a shoplifter who got caught in the act. When officers arrived, they headed straight to the loss prevention office, where the suspect, later identified as Daniel Dudek, was held. But as the investigation began, they quickly realized that they were dealing with Walmart's most wanted shoplifter. Okay. >> [snorts] [music] >> Okay. Okay. So, basically >> we'll get them We'll We'll process a regular issue. She'll have You know, she'll have We don't We don't want her to be arrested for this. Um like I said, it's her ninth. This is her 10th time. Okay. And you don't have a total on anything yet? I have a total on her other stuff, not including the meats that she used to that she was taking. I'm talking about this incident right now. >> that ready yet. Okay. Well, I guess I'll wait until you you figure it It's good. Excuse me, I just wanted to let you know in that orange bag up back there in the front pocket is my is my car key and Your bank card? And my bank card and my I think Oh, no, I have my bank card in my pocket. Am I going to be able to leave my car here and come back and get it? Goodbye. Have you ever been arrested before? >> Yes. Uh we'll see. You can leave the car here, but I don't know if depending on your criminal history you where you're going. What's your 392? Yeah, 392 28 at Walmart. I've been arrested one time for shoplifting. Anything else? 198 Okay, you probably don't quote me on it, but there's a good chance you're not going to county tonight. Not? I don't know. We have to run it your PSA. It's pretty much a score of what uh if you're going to if you're prone to commit more criminal acts or anything like that. So, if you can shoplift it once, there's no reason to do it again, but obviously you've done it numerous times now. So, is your saying that I'm probably not going to go to the county tonight? No, I'm saying you probably will. I don't know. >> Oh, oh, I'm sorry. I I I messed up. I'm sorry. And this stuff I'm not going to have ready probably till early next week. Okay. Because I still have to reshop some of the biggest ones. Okay. In order to get you the training receipt Got you. I have to go shop everything on the Oh, yeah, I I see what you're saying. Yeah. And I got to make all the property reports nine times for you once for each one. Got you. Yeah, whenever you're ready to drop it off at the headquarters and someone will take it. >> So, Monday I'll I'll work on Okay. It's going to be going on all these tickets. We'll try to get it done, but So, she failed to scan those items at the self-checkout? >> It's the same thing every single time. Okay. Um minus the fact I mean, I got I can't prove it, but it irritates me. She would fill a bag up with meat and uh she would never pay for the meat. The meat was always in the back. >> Oh, okay. I can't take I can't prove how much it was or anything like that. Oh, all right. That's a loss for us, but Got you. So, I reviewed the video I reviewed video with uh Jose. I said to myself, "You know what? She never buys meat. Never buys meat." So, I started to look and I would see her pick meat. Mhm. And I started to notice the bag was really heavy when she was moving it around. Got you. I wanted to say I apologize to you. I appreciate it, Daniel. Was uh did she conceal it in the Well, she never took it out of the bag? With the meat? No, the stuff tonight. >> Oh, no, she What she does is she um she goes to the register, she moves really fast, she'll put some unpaid stuff right here and she'll scan a box of Eggos and she'll put it on top of there. And then just move it all in. Okay, got you. Or she'll grab handfuls of stuff that you're really going to keep track of. She's scanning like some of them, put them all over there. >> Okay. It's always the same thing. Mhm. I'm uh I'm going to hook her if you just want to wait for the receipt at least. Daniel, stand up for me. Yeah, just turn around. Hands on your back. I'm just going to move you here. Sorry. Yep. Sorry. And we're just going to Yeah. 125 headquarters 125 headquarters 12541 Do you have anything on you right now? No. Okay. I have a pocketbook. Yeah, I got you. This is all your stuff, right? Yes. These guys 123 is going into West Caldwell mutually. I'm just putting all this stuff in here, okay? For sure. At headquarters I'm going to have a female dispatcher just search you, okay? Yeah. Okay. You can search me. I don't have anything on me. You can >> Yeah, I'd rather just have a female do it. It's Given everything that was happening, the officers expected her to be anxious about the hefty fines that she was about to face, but she seemed so used to being let out of Walmart in cuffs. Better that way for us. You call 41. All right. Can I leave my purse in the car or not? On your eyes? >> Yeah, could you do this? Yep. Thank you. All right. Yeah. Thank you. Yep. And we're going to go right to that front car. The one that's lights are on or the other one? Uh other one. 125 headquarters 125 Sorry. No, don't worry. Can I get my keys please? Just stand at the back door. Case number 41332 Just going to put your seatbelt on real quick. I know it's a little uncomfortable. It's going to be a quick ride. All right. Yep. Did you do something to me for the other the other time they got for shoplifting at ShopRite? I I went They had to take my fingerprints and pictures and stuff. Do I don't have to do that again, right? Because they already have it in there. No, every time you get arrested, you unfortunately you have to get That's what I'm taking you back. I'm fingerprinting fingerprint photograph and then I'm typing up your charge and then uh you should be on your way. It looks like a small amount and Oh, I thought that Oh, okay. I'm sorry. Yeah, no. I thought that the reason that you have to do that like is like one time. I thought like you didn't have to take a picture every time, but I didn't know. Yeah, it would be nice because people who obviously more re- repeat offenders than you like we have to We sometimes we fingerprint photograph the same person 10, 15, 20 times. >> think that at least the fingerprints don't change. Yeah. But for whatever reason, it's just how how it is. Um you you I know you can't guarantee but do you do you do you do you do you think so that I might be able to go home today? Yeah. Like I said, for some weird, wild, crazy thing I I don't want to be 100% sure, but Yep. Just going to reach around you. Here you go. Yep, you can come out. And we're just going to going to follow that officer right there. So, you get in you're going to make a a immediate left. Um she gets in on a plastic chair. Don't worry. Or just just put her on the bench. Yeah, just sit on the bench right there for now. Okay. 125 headquarters Okay, your sunglasses over Yeah, yeah, yeah. In the end, she was charged with petty theft. However, Walmart let her off with nothing more than a ban from all its stores. While other shoplifters chose to be Walmart's nemesis, Daniel decided to take the party to ShopRite, practicing her version of helpful shopping with over $227 worth of merchandise. A suspicious female came to the self-checkout, only paid for $36.27 worth of merchandise, Mhm. but everyone said that she had bags full of groceries. Okay. The total of unpaid goods is 22702 and that is pre-tax. Yeah, like if you press that button and then turn it to the left. >> On March 26th, 2024, officers of the Lacey Township Police Department received a call from a ShopRite loss prevention officer reporting a shoplifting incident at the grocery store. When officers arrived, they started to interrogate the officer who had made the report hoping to get to the bottom of the situation. So, it was brought to my attention that this morning there was a suspicious female came to self-checkout, only paid for $36.27 worth of merchandise, Mhm. but everyone said that she had bags full of groceries. Okay. So, I went back and I reviewed it and sure enough she had selected about $182.03 worth of merchandise, Okay. as well as a $44.99 item that she returned that she selected from the sales floor. So, all together it comes to 22702. So, I have all of the information here. I'll bring it up for you. What is that uh returned item that you're talking about? So, the returned item is the Mario Kart. So, it's a toy. She grabs it from aisle eight, comes right up, goes right to courtesy, returns it. We have a policy >> Yeah, without a we can give you a gift card. Okay. And that's what we did. So, we're returning the $297 [clears throat] gift card with $2.98 tax. So, she just actually just got free money for it. Okay. So, she walks up here, she explains her story uh which the cashier was not here, so I couldn't find out exactly what she said. Most likely just a standard I don't need it anymore. Mhm. He then takes the items, they move to this register which I have video of the actual register counter as well. So, I've got that on there. He then just does standard protocol, scans a gift card for the $47 and change hands it to her and then she goes right to courtesy. And then to self-checkout. Using the video footage and license plate information captured by the store surveillance system, the officers were able to identify the suspect and track down her address. She for sure $41. $227. Hi. She was charged with petty theft. Speaking of Walmart's most wanted shoplifters, getting caught red-handed, Tessa, a seasoned serial swiper, was cornered while attempting to pull off a $649 shoplifting stunt just a day after an unsuccessful score. You're under arrest for theft. We've been watching you for a quite a good 20 minutes already. I just picked that up though. I just went to the All right. Tried doing it yesterday, too. Yesterday was almost $1,000. >> really scared. What? So, that's $649. That's not counting the refund fraud. Wow. On July the 28th, 2024, officers were dispatched to a Walmart store following reports of an active shoplifting incident. Upon arrival, they quickly recognized the suspect named Tessa, a determined shoplifter seemingly hell-bent on ripping off Walmart. Just the day before they had stopped her before she could even walk away with unpaid merchandise, but she insisted it had been an honest mistake and even apologized. But now seeing her back in action, the officers had reason to doubt that her previous misstep had been accidental. She's doing a second return. Okay, okay. He's trying to scan her her her digital receipt. Yeah. Just for the record, we have PC already for a return fraud. Uh he's struggling as I It's not scanning for whatever reason. Where's your officer you got? Is he going to help you? I still have not been able to locate him. He might actually be on lunch. We only had one today. I cannot find him anywhere. She's doing a second return for sure. Actually, she might be doing a third return. Wow. Sounds like she needs to go to jail. I mean, she's I I'm I'm just I don't even want to know how many times she's gotten away on us. So, your yellow vest don't stop her. Just wave her on. Keep going. Keep going. Jeff, I swear to God, if she goes into Subway, I'm going to have a freaking stroke. Nah, we got the crime anyway already, so we'll just contact her in Safeway. All right, so she's giving her more cash now. So, exactly tell how much cash she's pulling out. He's not making it easy for me to count. That's okay. But he did give her a receipt, so we'll just use that receipt. Yeah, she put that money in her right pocket. What not? She pulled it back out. She's going to be gone by the time we get there anyway. All right, she's moving away from the customer service. Actually, she did not try to return that speaker. Okay, so she's going to walk out with it then. Yep, she looks like she's coming to the GM or the pharmacy side. I lied, she turned around. Okay. Yep, she's going towards the grocery now. Grocery, okay. All right, she is in front of nail salon. She is in front of Subway. Yeah, she's coming out. She's wearing a black shirt with like a Playboy bunny on the back of it. She out the store? She's about to cross the final point of sale here in a second. Okay. There she is. Hi. I don't think she can hear me. So, you just did some fraud doing the returns. Yes, you. Okay, good. Got your hands behind your back. Talk to the receipts. Phone down. Hands behind your back. You have any weapons on you? No. Okay. You're under arrest for theft. We've been watching you for about a good 20 minutes already. I just paid for that though. I just went through the register for it. Tried doing it yesterday, too. Everything was on camera. >> do anything yesterday. You got it the way you want it. You're under arrest for theft. The speaker is not paid for. We know that already. This receipt shopping, you didn't select You selected these things from the store. I just paid for that. I just paid for this. I got the receipt right there. Remember, everything is on camera. No, I get it. That's fine, but You lied to us. I'm not lying. >> good straight ticket to jail. >> Look at the receipt what I was saying. Yeah, receipt is all fraud. We know already. You're not the first person that thought this up. Okay, so anyway, you have to write your name silent. Do you understand your rights? Okay, so we're going to escort you back to the loss prevention office. Dave, just throw her in my car. I'm just going to drive her over there. Okay, first off, we have to identify you. What is this nonsense? Tessa M comes back to a Talis N P who's a male that's 6'1" 175. Why would your brother come up as you? That's not my name though. I don't know either. His driver's status is right there. Well, you better start thinking about different name cuz this one ain't working. You just said that that was your brother. No, I'm saying I don't know if that's not me. Right there. You know, you got to keep your lies straight cuz I listen really well. Okay, what I'm trying to say is that this driver's status I don't give a rat's ass about the driver's status. I want to know who you are. I'm going to run it one more time, and if not, you're you're just going to go to jail for providing false false information to law enforcement. Regardless if you have a warrant, nothing. I'll just book you. That's That's the simplest way for me. It's Sunday. Last name again. What is your real name? I'm going to run it again, and if it comes back no record, we're not even going to go in the office. You're going to just go straight to jail. I'm listening. I don't either, but it usually means that people are lying about their name. I don't give a [ __ ] about the driver's status. What is your [ __ ] real name? That's my name. That don't look like her. Oh, she's got multiple IDs. What is your middle initial? And what is your date of birth? I need three. Nope, comes back to Talis N 6'1" 175 male. You're definitely not a male. Is your ID in Washington? No, it's Portland, Oregon. It's out of Oregon? >> Yeah. It's in my purse. It's It's in your purse inside? >> Yeah, it should be. Okay. So, which one of these IDs is yours? >> Tessa. So, which one is that? Oh. Passport to the right. >> Yeah, who are these? I'm not sure, sir. Well, they were in your purse. I understand that. Yeah. So, where's your Where's your Oregon ID at? It's in there. If it's not, it's in my car. Whose car is that, by the way? It's mine. Not registered to you. She continued to make it difficult for the officers to identify her without stopping to consider how much worse she was making an already dire situation. Convinced that she was outsmarting them, she carried on with a quiet confidence until the officers dropped a bombshell that changed everything. I just got it. So, are you Ashley? No. It's probably in my car back there. I'm guessing [snorts] you're not this guy, Elijah. Or I just looked for it, too. It's probably in my car. Where's this passport you speak of? He's got it in his hands, sir. Passport? And then my driver's license It should It should be right there in my in my car. So, the name on this is correct? Yes, sir. My driver's license was in my car. I had it on me. Did you check this pocket? What's the address on Where your coins are? Wasn't any of my ID or anything in there. That's what I'm saying. You would know that. Why are you Well, no, because I In my slide it's I can feel right there. All right, where is it? >> It's in my car. If it's not in my purse, it's in my car. Is this your car? Yeah, but I I mean, I don't want to just have the door open like without me there. We'll transport you to your car. We already know, just so that you know, in contact with loss prevention the whole time you've been here. He spotted you right away because they recognized you from yesterday. They know that the things you you returned I'm just You selected from the store. You didn't pay for them. You didn't come in with them. There's a couple things you came in with. The speaker you selected and had to be removed from a glass case by an associate, right? Yes. You never paid for that. Fortunately, you didn't try to return that for cash, but you did do two pri- previous ones for cash, and those are being scrutinized right now. It's just been a little hard for me. I mean, I It's not like I was doing major stuff, but I mean, I know I can >> you mean major stuff? Yesterday was almost a thousand dollars. I got really scared. What? Yeah. For my car not working? Yeah, thousand bucks. Okay, back to the store. We'll figure something out. Is she 100% the one that tried to get out yesterday? Um Yeah, my car declined. >> Did she change her her clothes or anything? Really? She said she tried to use her card. But everything she said >> out of merchandise, but there was three managers that prevented her from doing it. No, they didn't stop me or anything. They were just standing around me. And that's when you decided that I'm not going to risk it getting caught because you were right there at the point of sale. Final point of sale to take it out. Right, my car declined. But you still took the cart all the way to the final point of sale. Yeah, but it doesn't mean You have to do it to ring it up. But your card got declined. How are you going to pay for it? >> leave your cart. Okay, you're going to be booked into jail cuz that's the only reasonable way we can identify you cuz you got so many IDs. You can't find your driver's license. So, that's the safest way for me cuz I don't want to get Your name is not really Tessa. I don't want to get Tessa in trouble because you lied about your identity. I'm telling you the truth about my identity, you guys. It's right there. Which one? The Tessa. I think I said I just grabbed that bag. All right, it doesn't really look like you. I'm moving stuff in my bag out there. So, you use that bag. So, that's 649. That's not counting the refund fraud. Wow. $649? Wow. Yeah. I just paid for some though. Yeah, that don't even close to This ain't even close to $649. Have you ever been trespassed or anything from here, you guys? All right, you're going to be trespassed and cited and booked into jail. Gordon, do you want me to do the theft and the refund fraud by twice the >> do it all in one. Okay. So, I don't know. >> arrested before, please. Oh, come on. Dude, I find that hard to believe. Look, everything I've never done this before. Everything you said since the time we contacted you has either been a lie or some kind of roundabout crap. How has it been a lie? Oh, I paid for that. No, I paid for some of it as I said. You know what? We're not We're not dealing with semantics here. This is not an English language course, okay? I have pretty good ears. I've been doing this for 30 years. I know when people lie to me. What What state were you born in? Portland, Oregon. Wisconsin. Oh, my head. More lies. What What is the difference? He He just asked you. I didn't hear him say State were you born in? I heard it. Just fine. I thought he was talking about that. And you said Portland, Oregon. That's where I'm from. I'm sorry. That's just You guys have a lot going on right now. We got a lot going on. I got a lot going on, too. I'm sorry. You guys I've never done this before. What's your last name? How do you spell it? Okay, what's your middle Or sorry, what's your first name? Tessa. Tessa, what's your middle initial? M as in Mary? Yes. Why does your passport say L? It does not. It's not your passport all of a sudden? No, it does say that. Then what? You guys You know what? I'm just going to do the site based on what she's giving me. And the jail can figure it out. You know, this could have been so easy. Had you been truthful I've I've been telling you everything. Yeah, you're answering everything. That's great, but you everything's roundabout or a lie. It is not. You know, I'm very observant. So is this officer and that officer. Yeah, and you can go get my driver's license, too. Place of birth, Wisconsin, USA. He asked you specifically The officers knew that she was up to some mischief, and that her refusal to identify herself after several attempts was a conscious effort to hide something more eerie from them. I thought he was talking about where I'm from. I didn't hear that part, you guys. I just said I was sorry. I didn't And what the hell is this supposed to be? I don't know. That's in there. Who says somebody's trying to wash a driver's license to make another one? You know exactly what that means. You guys, please don't do this like If you ask them nicely, they may not tow your car. If your purse not gone by 11:00 tonight, your car will be towed. Please don't do this. Like I understand that you guys are really wrong, but come on, you guys. Please. I've never been in trouble with you guys before. I've seen people You haven't been caught. I just moved up here. Your tears are not going to change the outcome. It's not going to make me feel any less about what's going on. >> I understand that you guys were wrong, but please give My job is to make sure you are held accountable. I'm doing my part. I will hold myself accountable for it, sir. I really will. I don't trust you to hold yourself accountable. Did you hold yourself accountable yesterday when you got caught? I didn't I didn't get caught yesterday. I know you didn't get caught. That's why you said leave the cart. >> and it didn't go through, you guys, and I walked away from the cart. You're not welcome at all. So, we're putting you in the database life. You are trespassed from Walmart for life. Doesn't matter if it's Yelm where you had an event. Doesn't matter where it's Tacoma. Doesn't matter if it's Federal Way. Any Walmart, you are not allowed to walk on the property and it's trespassing if you enter the property, okay? All I can say is I showed you my my driver's license, you guys. I don't know what else to say. Why I don't understand what The other officer just went out to your car. Where Where Where are you looking for my ID in there? Like look. I don't know what you're trying to get out of this. You're under arrest. I get that. >> We need to identify you. That's it. You're not We're not about to be Okay, you know what? We're sorry we inconvenienced you. You can go. >> guys I don't I don't understand what I did was wrong. And that's why you're going to get booked today because they're going to take your fingerprints at jail and then they'll actually identify you. So, if you have any other warrants or anything like that, you can probably expect to sit there and serve that time for those warrants. If you have any felony warrants, what they'll do is they'll transport you to King County Jail and have you sit there. If you have any out-of-state warrants, they'll extradite you back to that state and you can serve your time there. No. Okay. That's That's just what I'm telling you is going to happen. Okay, but I don't have that. Okay, then if then you don't have to worry about it then you're you're just going to serve your time for today's incident. What is that What is that much time, you guys? I have 14 >> I cannot tell you. It's on the It's on the court system. And if I have to get that What? It's It's on the courts. So, once once you go to jail, you're going to get you're going to have your hearing. The judge is going to determine all the facts whether they give you bail or no bail and then they'll go from there. I will do anything to get this Right. I said I I know I did it wrong. And I won't ever come back to this Walmart. I promise. You do you go to jail for that, too. What? Come back to this Walmart. >> I know. I'm saying I won't. There's so much worse things going on right now. Like I don't understand like why you guys can't give me the one chance. Like I've never >> Correct. So So, you're right. There are worse things going on. But when we have a call for service, we have to answer that call for service. >> Yes, I did it. >> And instead of three police officers helping other citizens, we're sitting here dealing with you one because we can't identify you. I know what I did. And because of your actions today. This is your citation. It is for theft in the third degree. Despite you stealing probably a felonious amount of merchandise, we're going to go with the lower degree. I'm not real sure what I'm going to do with the crystal meth cuz that I can test and you may sustain a charge because of that. For a little bit. My middle name is No. You know what a little bit is? I am It's This is not a little bit. This is actually quite a bit. You know the Blake decision and all that stuff? I meant everything I've been a bringing with you guys the whole time. Like I don't understand what you're And you know what? If you don't >> so hard with all this. Like my kid is at home. If you turn out to be Tessa, I'll apologize. At this point, I'm not believing you because everything you've told us is counter Can she go out and look at my my car for me? No, she doesn't want to go through your car. Are you kidding me? Okay. My ID is in there. >> That's theft. Fortunately, I think this is a gross misdemeanor. So, you got that. The problem is is that providing false information to law enforcement is a class C felony. I get that. I'm not >> Okay. It's right here. Yeah. So, as long as you're not worried about that. Can't take any of this stuff. >> take any IDs that do not belong to you except for the Tessa one. Cuz So, that one's different middle initial. Yeah, but that's who she's claiming to be. I'll take a picture of that. Tessa Lauren. That may be your sister. No, it's my maiden name. Your maiden middle name? >> married. I had So, you had your maiden name when you got married? No, it's Maurice is a French name, you guys. It's not like that. Like I don't know how to explain it. So, when I say People change their last names, not their middle names. It's a It's a hyphened last name. It's not Oh boy. Although efforts to confirm her real identity seemed like a run in a maze, the officers did uncover one undeniable fact. She wasn't just a retail rogue. She was a hopeless liar. And just when they thought her deceit had reached its peak, she let them down once more. When did you get married? I was married 14 years. No, when did you get married? Um when I was 20 to Look straight at the camera. I'd say 28, maybe. In my 30 years of of police work, right? Yes. I have never seen anyone change their middle name when they got married. Nobody. Zero. Wait. Hyphened last name. When did you When did you get married? I was married from What I say? Like I was 20 to 34. And how old are you now? I am just uh Are you still married? No, that ID is from when or the newest one before I'm not actually married. We're done here. This is too much. Uh this officer is going to drive you by your car and then you're going to watch me put all your stuff in the car and then I'll bring back the keys. No. I can't have a drink of water? No. I'm thirsty. So, you finally admitted that you lied to us. No, I'm not lying. If you think I do Tessa was eventually booked into jail on charges of theft, possession of a controlled substance, and providing false and misleading information to law enforcement. Tessa was certainly Walmart's nightmare, but she was nothing compared to Ashley. She took things up a notch when she assaulted an officer for trying to stop her tag-ripping spree. She's been here two times before and each time last time was like two grand worth of stuff. Jeez. I'm trying to uh put everything down in a way where I can show that tags were ripped off. Do you know that you just smacked me? Yeah, because you put my dough on me. On March the 30th, 2025, dispatch responded to a Walmart store after receiving a call reporting a shoplifting incident in action. When they arrived, they met the store's manager outside and he couldn't wait to express his frustration at the persistence of the retail rogue later identified as Ashley. What's going on? I'm the manager. I have a female that caught stealing here before. She's been trespassed twice out here. Okay. And I was just watching her. Okay. What's she doing now? She has a cart full of stuff and she's marking merchandise off. Like you can see her blood on it. Okay. All right. Where is she at? Uh she is currently in the bathroom by vitamins. Okay. So, if I mean if she's been trespassed from here already, I think I'm just going to address this now instead of letting her you know, obviously just deal with that especially where 10 minutes till shift change. Right. I didn't know that. Yeah. No, you're good. You're good. I figured I'm done This is something I can address and I didn't know about it till I called you guys. Yeah. No worries. No worries. Yeah, and uh the district officer is out in the parking lot dealing with a whole 'nother thing. So, it's it's a busy day. So, it shouldn't take too long. She I think last time I just think she's high. Okay. I think she's high cuz she knows who we are and she knows who we are back there. Wow. I had stopped her before. Mhm. She looked straight at me and just I walked away. Is Ashley Yeah, with a It's It's her last name. And and Oh, okay. Yeah, that sounds right. Do you know off chance of when she was trespassing here? Oh, I have it pulled up on my Okay. No worries. I have two different ones. I have one from March and one from April. Is that her? No, no. She's She's wearing a face mask. Okay. Will you make your way to the back of the store where near the restrooms? The female approaches the stuff she's taking Yeah, she's talking. Apparently and tossed it back back in there. Okay. Like I don't know. The officer last time when we got her shop I don't know if he checked the purse or not cuz he had her go outside. Okay. Do we know where she would It was like in a purse where she tucked all that stuff? >> whole bag. A book bag? Okay. Okay. Is that her car right there? >> Yeah, that's her car. And she's been marking the barcodes and Okay. She's been here two times before and each time last time was like two grand worth of stuff. Jeez. That's ridiculous. Okay.
