And the only reason this man walked away untouched is because he understood something most people don't. The Constitution doesn't disappear just because a badge is standing on your doorstep. You don't have to answer questions. You don't even need to open the door. And you most definitely don't need to help the police if they demand it because there is a chance that in doing so, you are incriminating yourself and helping them build a case against you. Knowing your rights doesn't mean that you're being difficult. It just means that you are protecting yourself in a system that is not designed to protect you.
