Nothing wrong. You're giving me a hard time. My back's killing me, man. >> you in the area. You just hush. I get I'll I'll be with you in a minute. >> What's going on? >> I'm waiting for a tow truck. >> Okay. Step out. I'm going to pat you down. >> For what? >> Can do that without any reason to do it. >> Y'all are going bothering me. I did nothing wrong. So, you pat people down for what reason? >> FOR MY SAFETY. >> Y'all got the guns. I did nothing wrong. I did nothing wrong. >> We're seeing who you are and logging you because you're here to close business. >> My back's killing me. I've been sitting here. I blew a hose and y'all are harassing. I did nothing wrong. >> A lot of people say we're harassing them when we're just logging their information. >> How does asking for your license annoy you so to that point? >> Because you have no right to ask me for my license. I haven't committed a crime. >> I don't take those tests. No. >> I invoke my fifth amendment right. >> Sir, put your car in park. >> I got to go. >> You're not going. >> Excuse me, sir. >> What the What are you coming from? >> I'm trying to leave. This is not a traffic stop. >> It is, actually. >> I invoke my constitutional rights. Don't violate my rights. >> Your car could be broken down on the side of the road instead of officers trying to help you, they want that ID. Because of today's video, you had Officer Harris and Officer Holloman of the Yancey County Sheriff's Office stop this guy all because of they wanted his ID. This guy's car broke down. He was waiting for a tow truck, and that's what he was telling these officers. He wasn't doing anything wrong. But you having these officers instead of saying, "Hey, you want some help?" or "Hey, how can we assist you?" they said, "Hey, give us your ID." And they were feening for that ID really bad. And it just goes to show, man, officers care more about getting that ID than they care about helping people that's really in situations. Because, you know, when people are broke on the side of the road, you have so many officers that just pass them don't even care. But if they stop, there's only two things that's going to happen. One, they're actually going to help you. Or two, they're just going to want your ID. And that's what happened in this case right here. I'm going to watch it and get my reaction. Let me know what y'all think about in the comment section. Let's get it to the video. >> Nothing wrong. You're giving me a hard time. My back's killing me, man. >> you in the area. You just hush. I get I'll I'll be with you in a minute. >> Wow. >> What's going on? >> I'm waiting for a tow truck. >> Okay, step out and I'll pat you down. >> For what? >> Yes, we can do that without any reason to do it. Do you have any weapons on you? >> I have no I have a knife, yeah. >> Okay, where is that at? >> It's in my pocket. >> Okay, stand up. I'm going to pat you down on the outside of your clothing. You can record me, I'm recording you. Come [snorts] on. >> Why are you patting me down? I've done nothing wrong. >> you for weapons. >> I just told you I had a knife on me. >> Right, and I have to remove it from you. >> I'll give YOU MY KNIFE. >> NO, I DON'T WANT YOU TO REACH for it. >> I'll give you my damn knife if you want it. >> Stand out here. >> What did I do? >> it from your pocket. You're I I don't know what your problem is. >> I'm waiting for a damn tow truck is my problem, and y'all are harassing me. That's my problem. >> You're at a closed business, sir. >> I told him that. >> Guess what that means? We can log you. Okay? And if you want to go to jail and keep resisting, we can do that. >> Who's resisting? >> You >> my license. Peacefully, y'all are going bothering me. I did nothing wrong. >> We log anyone at a closed business. >> Okay, so you pat people down? >> Yes. >> For what reason? >> For my safety. >> Your safety? What about my safety? Y'all are harassing me, y'all got the guns. >> Listen, you're going to keep it up. >> Y'all got the guns. I did nothing wrong. >> Right. >> I'm waiting for a tow truck, for God's sake. Three people came by here, a statey as well. Because my back's killing me. You're telling me to sit in my truck. I'm trying to >> You don't think I'm a person? We're just trying to do our job. >> Your job? This is not your job. >> job. >> No, this is not your job. This is not your job. I'm sorry, this is not your job. I'm sorry, my back's killing me. I've been sitting here, I blew a hose, and y'all are harassing me. I did nothing wrong. >> who you are and logging you because you're here to close business. After we log you, we give you your license back and you're free to sit here as long as you want. >> you'll have >> happens, then we know who >> Oh, oh, yeah, like something's going to happen. I just got off of work, lady. >> If somebody says they're not going to be able to find what's his name, if somebody says I'm not going to be able to find whatever your name is, you're logged here. >> Okay. >> That's That's our job. >> All right. >> That's the job and not once have they asked this guy if he needs any help with his vehicle. >> You're logged here. >> Okay. >> That's That's our job. >> All right. >> Have you done this before? >> Wow. Okay. >> You say you know our job. >> What? Who said that? I never said I knew your job. >> This is not That's not your job. >> So, you must know our job because you're being a smart ass. >> Okay. All right. >> All right, so hang on. Calm down. >> Calm down? I did nothing wrong. What the hell are you all harassing me for? >> I'm not. Did you log him? >> What do you mean I'm in trouble? For what? >> Do you have any warrants or anything like that? >> No, I got no warrants. >> Well, you're acting weird. You're very right. >> my damn back's killing Okay, I'm sorry for being aggressive. I'm Okay. >> I'm sorry you're having a bad night. I'm sorry your vehicle's broke down. >> I was having a a really bad night and now it's a worse night cuz I did nothing wrong. You're all harassing me. >> No. I don't know why people say we're harassing them when we're just logging their information. >> Who are you all with? >> We are allowed to do. >> you all with? >> The Anson County Sheriff's Office. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> What's your name? >> Mariah Holman. >> Mariah Holman. >> And this is Deputy Harris. >> Okay. >> Yes. I hope you have a better night. >> I I appreciate that. >> I hope your back stops [laughter] hurting and that your car gets towed away. >> Well, I appreciate that. >> Okay? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Well, maybe next time not be Don't be so aggravated. >> Don't be so aggravated. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> How does asking for your license annoy you so to that point? >> Because you have no right to ask me for my license. I haven't committed a crime. >> I told you that. >> I have not committed a crime. >> By law, you are required to identify yourself. And you >> Okay. All right. I didn't know that. Yes, ma'am. >> Hang on. Is there any other weapons in the car? >> No, ma'am. >> Let [laughter] us watch you and then you can sit here peacefully while we >> I was sitting here peacefully before. I said I was sitting here peacefully before. >> Yeah. >> Mhm. >> Well, a lot of people You're the first one that's blew up like that. >> Blew up because y'all are violating my rights as a United States citizen, which you're supposed to be upholding Constitution, not breaking the Constitution. >> Everybody has a right to an opinion. That's okay. >> I I I suppose they do. >> is that we can't check your identification. >> Okay. Well, I didn't know that. I stand corrected. I stand corrected. >> So, maybe next time if it's >> [laughter] >> Okay. What? >> Hey, man. You all right? >> I'm good. >> Okay. So, I'm Lieutenant Davis. I'm supervisor on the field. >> Okay. >> So, anyway, yeah, all he's doing is checking to make sure you're okay. Make sure you ain't got no warrants. >> Okay. Well, sir, I I don't mean to cut y'all but a statey came through here. He checked me and said have have a nice day. I mean, I'm waiting for a tow truck. That's it. >> Can we help you in any way? >> No, sir. I'm waiting for a tow truck. >> Okay. So, anytime we got a business, it's our job to check and make sure that >> I mean, clearly I mean, clearly you can see I'm broken down. I mean, honestly, sir, you can see that. >> I understand. My deputy's doing exactly what he needs to do. So, >> Well, I wasn't aware that this is a stop and ID state. >> Yeah. >> I didn't know that. >> It is. >> Okay. Well, I stand corrected on that. >> So, doing so is there anything we can assist you with? >> No, sir. I'm waiting for a tow truck. >> Okay. >> That's it. >> He's going to check you and make sure that you're good to go. If you're good to go, then we're going to leave and we're going to move on. All right? >> Yes, sir. >> All right. That was the copacetic truck that I passed not too long back. >> That's who's That's who's Yes, sir. That's supposed to be who's coming. >> As soon as they get here, they're going to make sure that you're good and then we're we're out. Okay? >> Mhm. >> But, uh yeah, be safe. >> You, too, sir. This is the country we live in. >> All right, brother. You're good to go. >> My knife. >> What's your name? >> My name Deputy Harris. >> Deputy Harris? >> Okay. Yep. >> What's your badge number? >> Huh? >> What's your badge number? >> B6. Okay. >> Appreciate it. >> You have a good night, sir. >> You, as well. When I saw how big these officers' eyes got, I already knew they was feeling for that ID because they was already cos playing when they want to say, "Look, we just want to log you because what if something happens and all this?" When in reality, they just wanted to run them for warrants. >> If somebody says I just got off of work, I haven't been able to find what's his name. Somebody says I'm not been able to find whatever your name is. You're logged here. >> Got to get that good old cos playing in. And it's also crazy how they pat him down and took his knife because of officer safety. But yeah, they was the ones that approached him. >> Okay, so you pat people down for what reason? >> FOR MY SAFETY. >> Saying they care about their safety, but not once have they asked this guy about if he needed any help with his car being broke down. And then you have in this officer say, "I don't know why people think that we're harassing." And well, y'all literally are harassing this guy. >> Harassing me. >> No. I don't know why people say we're harassing them when we're just logging their information. How does asking for your license annoy you? So, to that point >> Asking, "How does this annoy you?" When this guy's literally broke down on the side of the road. His back's hurting. He's waiting for a tow truck and you got two officers harassing him about his damn ID knowing damn well they ain't finna help him with the situations he's dealing with. I'll be annoyed, too. But that's my take on it though. Let me know what y'all think about it in the comment section. How do you feel about these Yancey County Sheriff Deputies for pulling up on this guy when he was broke down on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck? Instead of these officers saying, "Hey, you good? Anything wrong?" Nope, they just wanted that ID. And then you having that other officer say, "I don't know why you being so upset. I don't know why you like this." Well, I mean like I said, when you got two officers breathing down your neck harassing you, I don't think anyone would just enjoy that. Then you having the other officer say, "Well, I don't know why people think that we're harassing and we want their ID." When you ain't doing nothing wrong, I don't know anyone that just would be cool with that. That's my take on it though. Let me know what y'all think about it in the comment section.
