today
is going to be a mental health run this
one's a little bit interesting
uh officers were actually dispatched to
what is a
prison hospital where a male walked up
to the hospital and was trying to get in
trying to get himself admitted so he
could get mental health treatment
unfortunately the security staff at the
hospital didn't let the man in
and uh didn't really keep an eye on him
so he ended up
finding his way outside of the facility
somehow
and walked down the road officers were
able to locate him
near a truck stop and then spoke to him
for a little bit
you know talk to him try to decide where
he needed to go
and ended up getting him the help that
he needed
i think this is a an interesting example
of
kind of some of the things that officers
do that maybe
people aren't aware that they do on a
regular basis
especially when it comes people who are
in need of
some mental health care there's a couple
of calls that the prison made to
the cpd dispatch center prior to the

we're a state prison hospital i was
calling
at the request of the lieutenant to see
if we could get
someone to come pick a person
up off ground he walked on the ground
and he he wanted to know if this was the
place
where you go and check in when you're
having mental mental health issues
so um i was calling to see if we could
have someone come pick him up

you know the state highway patrol
actually deals with you guys
right um he
i was told to call the columbus um
i was told to call columbus um police
department
okay well we can get somebody out there
but it's state highway patrol

after speaking with you i did call the
highway patrol
the highway patrol said that they was
tied up with something else
and they said that they made a phone
call and they spoke with you
so i was calling back to see if
someone from columbus pd would be able
to ma'am we have the
we have the run and we're going to get
them there as soon as we can we're tied
up on priorities too
but it is osp and we told them that when
we have units available
so we have the run we'll get them out
there as soon as we can
