[Music] celebrities [Music] hey everybody I'm David ridings Nashville criminal attorney this is my legal minute video so it's only a minute long what is a preliminary hearing I usually would need much longer of a time to answer this question but in short a preliminary hearing is what you're constitutionally entitled to when you're charged with a crime at the General Sessions level it is a hearing to determine if there's probable cause to push this case to the grand jury and ultimately to Criminal Court probable cause is two things one a crime was probably committed and you probably committed it so it's a very low threshold which means it's not hard to lose that hearing it's not hard for the state to make a case for probable cause and it's something you definitely need the help of a criminal defense attorney when you're going through that so I hope this has helped somebody I'm David ridings and I will see you next time
