If you hear these words, remember that David Writings told you it was a trick. The police come to you and they say, "We just want to hear your side of the story." That's a common trick that police use to elicit an admission from you or a confession. One of those interrogation tactics is to be charming and be friendly. And so, a common way they do that is they say, "Hey, I understand, you know, you might be going through a lot and you probably lost your job and uh you know, just tell me the story about why you stole this stuff. I'll help you out. I'll make sure the district attorney knows uh what your story is." It's a common tactic that they use to elicit information from you that you shouldn't fall for.
