[Applause] [Music] so [Music] oh hey everybody i'm david writings thanks for joining us tonight live on stand against dark blue youtube and facebook um well what's wrong with my camera no wonder a little off-kilt there sorry about that uh facebook and youtube and crime time central as well we are going to have a short video tonight but still very important we uh basically do commentary on body chem footage videos tonight we're going to bring you a little bit of news we've been talking uh on this channel a lot about policing the police basically and standing with good cops against bad cops one of the things that one one of the biggest problems that we have out there is this blue coat of silence the long-standing historical some people think is a is a facade hey jeff well thank you very much it is my birthday the long-standing um blue coat of silence the blue coat of silence is something that some people don't believe in if you've ever been a police officer you believe in it because you know it's really real and it is basically police protecting police police protecting police on the lower level all the way up to the top i could provide you many examples of this tonight we're going to have a new story about that very thing about police basically protecting one of their own for years with with basically false reports not false reports but not uh thank you wendy uh not the whole story so my mom and daddy always told me if i didn't tell the whole truth it wasn't i wasn't telling the truth and when you keep some of the truth out of the report you're lying to the public so watch this video and we'll talk about in fact 11 alive chief investigator brendan keith discovered is just one example of a widespread practice in georgia that keeps police misconduct hidden from the public roswell police run down a suspected prowler stopped with a single shot from a taser to the back the suspect is placed under arrest by officer daniel mckenzie okay you are under arrest all right buddy have a seat but this ride to jail will end officer mckenzie's career he started kicking the partition he started kicking the windows he started kicking the doors as hard as he could like double both feet officer mckenzie stops the car and calls for backup you're gonna get tased again lay down i deployed my attention to his hip that stopped him momentarily don't do it i told him i said hey man surrender i'm gonna be violent i'm about to hurt you stop come here come here come here come here come here stop stop come here okay forget for a minute uh the come here come here stop come here that i think there's a language barrier with this gentleman and and admittedly the the suspect the defendant is in the wrong he's kicking the windows he's kicking the doors and so that does deserve some attention in the in the police academy they teach you when you can use your taser and this is not one of those instances when you've got a handcuffed individual in your back seat and he's kicking the doors or kicking the windows or what have you you pull over you call for backup you open the doors you get him out and you basically put him in what's called a hobble you heard a lot about that in the george floyd trial at one point they were going to put him in a hobble i'm not even going to talk about whether that was even worthy or warranted it wasn't but in this case it might have been but certainly a taser to the hip on a handcuffed man in your back seat is not warranted and it's an unlawful use of force you don't use a taser on a handcuffed man to make him obey your commands you use a you use a taser to get somebody who's passively resisting in handcuffs once they're in handcuffs and in your back seat you don't use the taser like that not only that but this police officer goes a little bit farther come here [Applause] you can see right here he grabs this man he could have gone to the other side of the vehicle and had a little bit easier time getting him out but he grabs him and he punches him in the face and the man is handcuffed [Applause] i said hey man calm down i quickly diverted him with a punch to his face i diverted him with a punch to the face not warranted this is all roswell gave us in response to an open records request in 2018 a six page police now as a side note that was just cool i am so gonna learn how to do that on this video incident report including the date times names location and a three sentence narrative written by the officer there's no sign of anything missing here if we didn't have an internal source telling us what actually happened and this is the real incident report the officer filed with the case everything is exactly the same except there are twice as many pages 12 versus six instead of a three sentence narrative the officer goes on for six extra pages of narrative that are completely missing from the public report in it he admits to tasing the handcuffed suspect and to punching him with a closed right fist all of that is in the secret narrative but missing from the public report of the very same incident the roswell police department now releases full incident reports and officer narratives but other georgia cities and counties use the very same incident reporting software allowing them to create alternate public versions of police reports in violation of state law and that goes on in a lot of cities and the purpose of this video is to bring it to your attention most people don't know that most people don't know that that the police have in some cities have what some people call two sets of books thanks keith i appreciate that and thanks for watching so the point is when you do a foia request and what foia is is a freedom of information act request you expect to get the proper reports which means full and complete reports and when we ask for reports like we submitted a four-year request this week on that cop in pennsylvania and hopefully we'll get his personnel file and i'm going to go through it right here on the on the air but when we ask for that we ask for the full and complete report everything that's there so if you have one for the public and then one for private that's what we call the blue code of silence now that doesn't happen in every city but the fact that it happens at all is is part of the problem so we encourage people here um let me share with you this video screen give me just a second i should have had that ready sorry about that so this is our website stand against darkblue.com and we have two versions of basically just a pledge a pledge of support and i'll show you the citizen pledge because there's probably more citizens watching than there are police officers but i'll tell you what both of them what both of them say the police officer pledge basically says i agree and admit that there are problems in policing today in my department today you have to agree that it's there today if you don't agree that it's there then you're part of the problem now i don't i'm not one that believes that there's systemic racism in policing i've said that before and i maintain that i think there are racists in policing but i don't think the problem is systemic and systemic means system-wide but there certainly is a problem in policing and so if you're a police officer you're basically admitting that there's a problem if you're a citizen you're admitting just the off the other side of that problem because most citizens think not most some citizens think that all cops are bad so the citizen pledge just basically says i admit that not every police officer is bad there are a great number of genuinely good officers who are angry as i am about what's going on in this world today and i support them however not every cop is a good cop either and there exists a darkness in in law enforcement basically that you're saying i'm going to stand against it goes on to say rioting is not protesting it says i will stop focusing my anger on the police as a whole like defunding the police we don't believe in defunding the police here that's just stupid and we don't believe in stupid but we do believe that there is a problem in policing and so basically your base you're basically as a citizen saying i will support the good cops who stand against the bad cops i will neither start nor participate in destructive writing and i will register to vote because if you're out protesting i don't care what you're protesting for but if you're protesting and you're not registered to vote if you're 18 or older and you're not registered to vote you're not helping anybody you're not doing any good you're not helping anything if if you're not participating in the election process for somebody who supports your values we don't tell you who to vote for around here but they have to support your values and we encourage those citizens who support us to register to vote so they can be part of the change now the police officer pledge is similar it's it's different because it's for police officers and it really just says that i admit there's a problem in policing today i'm going to stand and i'm going to denounce the blue code of silence because you have to admit that there's a blue code of silence and you have to agree to denounce it basically so if you're a part of a department that does this stuff with the report for the public and then a report for the police you need to report that we are seeing more and more incidents of police policing the police and that's what it's going to take for us to really make a difference because the good cops know where the problems are in their department and if you're a good cop you don't like that you don't you don't support the problems that are in your department and you shouldn't be part of a blue coat of silence that keeps that secret that's all we're saying here denounce the blue coat of silence put an end to it report misconduct when you see it and expose it even if it means that you get called a rat in your own department there's a lot of that going on now lots of police officers are coming forward and reporting misconduct that they've seen we reported on one earlier uh earlier well earlier last week where a police officer came out and said hey i didn't think this was right and it led ultimately to the firing of the police officer that that did wrong now it was nearly three years later so you've got three years that go by while this police officer's still on the street and he should be fired if you want to know what that video was about go back and watch our previous videos we go against the darkness and if you keep standing against the darkness we'll be we'll be laser focusing light on the problem we don't believe in defunding law enforcement around here we believe in laser focused light on the problem let's find the problems in policing let's expose the problems in policing and let's eradicate them it can be done i promise you and it's time thanks for joining us we'll be back tomorrow with another good video you guys be well the clock [Music] you ain't seen nothing
