Someone rear-ended your car, and they said that you slammed your brake for no reason. And now the cops are writing it up as the whole thing's your fault. Can this really happen? Absolutely, it can happen. But here's the bottom line. At the end of the day, in a civil case, if they're trying to sue you for damages or sue you for personal injury, they're going to have a hard case to sell if they crashed into the back of you because you're required to keep control of your motor vehicle, which means giving yourself plenty of room to stop. Now, I've seen advertisers in these dash cams because somebody will pull in front of you, slam on their brakes, and then you don't hit them, but they back up and slam into you and act like you hit them. Now, if that happens, clearly, you're going to want a dash cam in your car so you can prove that they backed up and rammed into you. I think everybody should have a dash cam.
