Welcome to Crime Time Central legal talk hosted by attorney David Ridings. This is where we sort out the good guys from the bad guys and try to help you make sense of the law. We'll give you the latest on the big cases and highlight the weird ones as well. We'll hear from the defenders, the enforcers, and maybe even a few law breakers. Regardless, you'll come away knowing more than when you started. This is Crime Time Central legal talk. Well, good Sunday evening everybody. Thanks for joining us. I'm David Ridings with Crime Time Central and we are live on Stand Against Dark Blue on YouTube. Also live on Facebook. Uh so, if you're watching as part of the live show, be part of the show and comment while we're live, we'll show your comments on the screen. And uh and we'll engage. Got a couple of videos for you tonight. Um I had to well, I had to edit one of them cuz it had some foul language in it and uh actually what I did is I just changed the source of the video cuz one of the videos I got from the Hodge Twins. Well, those boys just cuss a lot. And for those of you that are wondering what the, you know, if if you watch my channel much, you've been watching this progress. It's getting better. It's getting better. I've been trying to make up a really cool, you know, abused by a a cop somewhere story. Uh but, you know, it was not that glamorous. I do have a black eye. I apologize for the appearance. Uh there's nothing I can do about it. It's going to go away. It's probably just going to take a minute to go away. And so, sorry. Tonight, there's a couple of different videos that we're going to watch that are not really related to one another. Sometimes we will um Well, what we do here is is we do commentary on body cams. And we have a bully cam of the day award. And today that will go to the Harris County deputy who you will see here in just a minute. And oddly enough today, we have a different kind of bully. She's a citizen. And she I don't know what possessed her to do this. She was pulled over by the police. Actually, she was pulled over by the police because probably she was videoing a cop doing something that she was going to post on Facebook or something. And he drives by and he sees her doing this with the phone. But she's driving. So, that's illegal in almost every state now. Um so, he pulls her over. And she's like, "Oh, why you pull me over? I wasn't speeding. I haven't you know, blah blah blah." And he says, "Yes, ma'am. There you know, the reason" He tries to get a word in edgewise and tell her the reason that he pulled her over. Uh and she's videoing. She I have the right to video you. I have the right to video you. Yes, ma'am. You do. But you can't do that while you're driving cuz it's illegal for you to hold your phone while you're driving. And then he asked her for her license. Uh and the poor girl, I know she wanted to be this um stand-offish person and and really criticize the police for what they're doing and then she goes, "Well, I mistakenly forgot my driver's license and it's at home." So, he actually gave her a break. I don't think he wrote her a ticket for the driver's license. He wrote her a ticket um for driving with her phone in her hand, which she certainly deserves that. And then the other one is uh Harris County in Texas. Um a police officer, actually two two deputies there have been uh suspended and I believe fired. I haven't seen the final report, but uh if he's not fired, he needs to be fired. Get a load of this video. So, in this this is a 16-year-old boy and a Harris County detec- did deputy at a gas station. And you're going to hear some audio in just a second. But Can I get your ID? So, he asked for his ID. I don't know why he asked for his ID, but these guys are clearly on four-wheelers. So, they may have um they may have he may have seen them do something riding down the road or I don't know. Maybe he just wants to mess with people and that's some cops are like that. They just want to mess with people. And he goes over there and asks for his ID and I I want to say the kid kind of stumbled. It didn't look like the kid was trying to run. I've I've been a police officer and and had people run from me and when they rabbit, like I mean, when they when they go to run, they'll jerk away and and start running. This guy kind of almost like he he might have been pulling back because he didn't want the cop grabbing him and manhandling him and you know, I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. But this cop was having none of it. Don't run Turn around and put your hands behind your back. Why you got Don't be [ __ ] stupid. What did I tell you? Oh. I There's just no justification for that. I'm interested in what you think. If there's anybody out there that thinks he was justified in doing that, comment below. And uh and tell me why you think that. This boy might have been resisting somewhat, passively resisting. It wasn't It wasn't actively and aggressively resisting. Uh cuz he didn't push the cop or hit the cop or grab the cop or anything like that. He was just kind of pulling away. And like I said, this deputy was having none of it and he just clocks him. Boy's eye probably looks like that the next day. Um I I just don't I don't agree with how this officer handled that. And let's back it up and watch it again. So he's Don't pull away from me if you I'm going to beat the f out of you or yeah I before I beat the s out of you. Don't be [ __ ] stupid. What did I tell you? Wow. Well, no excuse for it. Um this deputy, I believe Well, I know he was suspended uh pending the investigation. I believe he has since been fired. Um and rightfully so. I'm going to check on that. And if he hasn't, then I'm going to write them a letter. I wrote a letter today if you watched our earlier video today. Um I wrote a letter to the to the mayor and the city council up in Pennsylvania. Um just just weighing in, you know, giving them my two cents about the officer uh at G&G restaurant who basically racially profiled this boy. And and the boy calls him on it. He just says, "You're racially profiling." Yeah, oh yeah, I don't like black people. He sounded drunk to me. Uh so go watch that video. It was earlier today. I wrote a letter to the to the mayor, to the police chief, and to the city council. Copied all the city council people. And just said, "Look, um and i- if if you haven't made the decision yet to fire him, which I b- I believe the decision is pending, uh he needs to be fired. And and here's why. He's got a couple of I also did a FOIA request, a Freedom of Information Act request for his personnel file cuz I want to see it. One of the one of the disciplinary actions against that man in 2018 was he was suspended for 2 days for unknown reasons. And that's not acceptable. It's not acceptable to say we investigated something but because of the blue code of silence, we're not going to tell you what that is. So I'm going to demand to see what that is. And when I when I get that response, I'll I'll post it here on this channel and you can follow along and see if you agree with them. They may not give it to me. I might have to take further action, which I don't know if if I'll spend time on it. Depends on whether or not they fired him, too. I'm interested in that. Uh because in this country, when when we can when we identify a bully in policing, we need to eradicate them. They need to be gone. Sometimes it's hard to identify who the bad cops are, or it has been up until 2021. Now, every every cop in every major city and and most minor cities uh have these body cams now, and everybody's wearing a an HD camera. And so, we're going to start seeing a whole lot more body cams and what we call bully cams, uh and we'll be able to pit we'll be able to pick out who the bullies are. And and when we find them, we need to eradicate them quickly. No more patty cake. No more playing around in policing. Policing's not for the faint of heart. And if you get into that business, people can get into that into that uh line of work with really good intentions. And over the years, because of of poor management, you're left in an area where all you see is the dredge of society day in and day out, and they don't rotate you out. And over time, if you if you're in that job long enough, you can get jaded. And if you don't manage it well, meaning the the police chief and the deputy chiefs and the captains and the lieutenants and the sergeants move their guys around and put them in in different areas every now and then so they're not dealing with the same people doing the same crap to the same people day in and day out and give them a different view of life. Um midnights is fine when you first start out when you're when you're full of yourself and you just want to go out there and arrest people and you want to fight crime and you want to you know protect people it's a great place to be cuz there's a lot of crime on midnight shift. But a few years on midnight shift is is enough. Move them to day shift and put them in a different part of the the city and don't let somebody stay in uh midnight projects for 10 years because it's not healthy. But when you do find somebody that's a bully and you can you can tell them you can spot a bully. The the police know who the bullies are. And that's what we're trying to do here at Stand Against Dark Blue. We're trying to help the police police the police. We want the police to denounce the blue code of silence and say I'm not going to keep that secret anymore and this whole protecting my brother cop because he's a brother cop when he does something wrong has got to stop. And that's that's what we're educating the police and the public on how to do that. And when you find one they need to be eradicated. So every now and then I'll write a letter just you know giving them my two cents. And I'm just an attorney. I've been a former police officer. I'm a former police officer. I've been a cop for almost 10 years here in metro Nashville and worked for another city before that in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. And I've been an attorney for 22 going on 23 years. So I know I know policing and I can tell a bully cop when I see one. And if the city council is having a hard time determining what to do with that bully cop, I want them to have suggestions from the community. And I'm the community. So, I know I don't live in Pennsylvania. I don't have anything to do with that city, but I wrote them a letter anyway. And I think all of you should. We're going to start doing that here. We're going to start posting uh the address and the names of the mayor and the police chief and maybe some city council members so you can all either call them or email them or write them a physical letter. This This This one I wrote a physical letter on. I'm going to put it in the mailbox. I might email them as well, but um it's it's time that we get involved as a community and and police the police. It's It's time to get the bullies out of the police force. I love the police. And I don't want them to be tarnished by a few knuckleheads here and there. So, it's time to get them out of here. Now, let's move on to the next video. This is Let me skip along here. This is a completely different kind of video. And um this is a police officer, like I said, who pulled the lady over for um for having her phone and she was videoing him and uh she's woke. It It she's she's all about um criticizing the police. So, get a load. I was going under the speed limit. I was going at 38. Yes, yes you are, ma'am. Good morning. Which is and the speed limit is 40 and I was going 38, so why are you harassing me? You are correct. I pulled you over because a murderer. Uh yes, I started to record because you're a murderer. can't be on your cell phone while you're driving. I was recording you because you scared me. You can't use your cell phone while you're recording. May I have your driver's license? I It's It's at my apartment. What's your apartment? It's at my I'm just taking my son to his Do you have what Do you have your driver's license? I it I mistakenly left it at home. Do you Dang it. She's I know she's going, "Oh, crap. I wanted to be perfectly within my rights here." I have a picture of your driver's license. Yes, I do. May I have it? And can you call So, it's Uh honestly, that was you know, the cop doesn't have to do that. He said, "Do you have a picture of your driver's license?" I know cops will pull people over and if they don't have their license, they run them and make sure that the license is good and they don't necessarily write them a ticket for driving without your physical license. Although, it is a crime to drive without a copy of your license on your person when you're driving in most in most states. Whoops. I I mistakenly left it at home. Do you have a picture of your driver's license? Yes, I do. May I have it? And can you call your supervisor, please, because already did. He's on his way. Yeah, cuz you're a murderer. Okay. And so, you're giving me a cell phone ticket? Is that why you're harassing me? That's harassment. I I am enforcing the law. I have a right to and record the police when they're harassing me. By all means, but you can't do it while you're driving. I was I can I wasn't definitely texting or none of that. Do you have Do you have that picture? me and made me think you were going to murder me. Okay, well, I'm sorry you feel that way. Well, you're That's not just a feeling. You're a murderer. Okay. Can you zoom in on that for me, dear? Sure. Thank you. And I'm perfectly legal and I'm a teacher. So, there. Congratulations. Oh, wow. Doesn't that make you feel better? Everybody? She's a teacher. Oh, I just wish my child were being taught by this person. That's supposed to mean something here. She's a teacher. murderer. You're a murderer. What's your last name? I can't see that there. You got to stop stop shaking. Zoom in on that for me, now. you're scaring me. I'm not You're threatening to kill me and my son. Can you give me the Okay. Well, you I'll tell you what, you keep smiling. You're on camera. You're trying to threaten to kill me. I'm not smiling. You're the one who's crazy. Hold that still. I can't see that. Is this your car? Yes, it is. And you're trying to say I stole my own car because you're jealous? No, I don't think so. You wait for me right here, okay? You're jealous? You're going to sign the citation. All you need to do is just give your signature. He's only citing you for using your cell phone while you're driving. That's it. For him being a Mexican racist. right there. What is that name? Gacho. Sign the citation, ma'am. Here you go, Mexican racist. You're always going to be a Mexican. You'll never be white. You know that, right? You'll never be white, which is what you really want to be. There you go. Have a good day. You want to be white, don't Oh my gosh. You want to be white. What are you jealous? You jealous of my car? You Mexican racist. She tried to think of a Mexican um term. I don't know what she was what word she was trying to come up with. I'm embarrassed for her. I I would be so embarrassed if that were my wife or my daughter or my teacher. And she's probably proud of it. She probably posted that on social media herself. And all I can do is just say shame on you. You're not helping. It's It's time for this country to come together. And number one, pray for our police. I wear these bracelets. It says pray for police. It also says stand against dark blue. Dark blue is not meant as a a racial term. Dark blue is is just indicative of cops that don't need to be cops, bully cops. And when we find them, we eradicate them. When we find cops that do stupid things, we shine a light on it. When we find cops that like this guy who's perfectly professional, well, doing his doing his job in in the face of just ridiculous criticism, and he maintains his demeanor and his professional attitude and his manners. And I don't know that I could have done the same with this lady spouting off her hate. Cuz that's what she's doing. So, we need to come together and we need to help the police police the police. Most police agree with me that there is a problem in policing. It's not a systemic problem in my opinion because systemic means that it's system-wide. That's what systemic means. So, if you say we have a systemic racism problem in this country, it means that the whole country's racist. And that's just a ridiculous notion. It's It's not at all true. Nor is it true that law enforcement is systemically racist. There are some racist in law enforcement as there are in politics. As there are in teaching, apparently. Education, racism goes both ways, sister. And you, ma'am, are a racist. You're judging him because he's Mexican. Did that fall deaf on anybody else? I mean, let's let's call it what it Let's call a spade a spade. You're a racist. You're criticizing him for being Mexican and you say he's never going to be white, which is what he wants to be. I I don't think she was white that it was fuzz out, but she appeared to be a black woman. So, you're calling him a racist, which is what you really are. And you're calling him a murderer and you're scared that he's going to murder you and your son. It's just ridiculous. And that problem is rampant right now. People challenging the police and cursing out the police and disregarding what the police say and what the police order you to do is becoming a a bigger and bigger problem. And we had a 13-year-old boy that ran from police 2 weeks ago. He got shot and killed. a gun and he threw it behind the fence and he kind of turned quickly in a in a way that made the cop think that he was going to spin around with the gun and the cop shot him. Because that 13-year-old had never been taught how to react when the police are there. Of course Of course he had fired the gun and was running down an alley away from the police, which is never a good idea to do when you've got a gun. But we need to teach our young how to interact with the police. It's It's time that that that be taught as early as junior high school, maybe elementary school. We need to teach young people how to talk to a cop and how to be pulled over. If you're 16 or older, you need to be taught how to be pulled over by the police. You need to be taught what to do, how to do it, what to say, what not to say, what your rights are, how to react when a cop asks ask you for something that you're not required to give him, and how to invoke your rights early. And if we don't teach this to young people, as well as teaching the cops de-escalation of force, teaching the cops how to police themselves, teaching the cops how to denounce the blue code of silence, so that we're not keeping secret uh things that the cops do that are like misconduct. You You can't You can't operate on a system of secrecy. It's unhealthy and nothing good comes from a from a system that is based upon secrecy. And when you have cops protecting other cops who have done wrong, then you have cops like the ones we show on this channel who end up on video um harassing a citizen or abusing a citizen and in some cases killing citizens. And it needs to stop. Now, I'm not Pollyanna in the sky thinking that I can, you know, that I've got all the answers and that it will change overnight because it won't. It's not going to change over It didn't get this way overnight and it's not going to change overnight. But certainly sitting on your hands and not doing anything is not the answer either. I And look, I ain't no altar boy. I I've I've had my share of run-ins with the police. Um this was not Whoops. Keep doing that cuz that I'm looking at this camera it's got everything flipped. This was not one of them. I didn't run into the police and the police give me a black eye. A lot of people think that. Uh they've messaged me and asked me if I, you know, got hit. I didn't get hit. It was an accident in my basement with a sump pump that blew up in my face. But listen, I'm not perfect and I haven't been perfect in my life and I've done stupid things. I I've run from the police before. Um and when I was young, I didn't know anything about how to react when I was pulled over by the police. Nobody taught me that. I learned it over over decades of being a cop and being in law enforcement, getting pulled over several times. I've been in the backseat a couple of times. Nothing serious. Um I was fortunate that I got away with almost everything that I did in my young life. Um I was a little I was a little hoodlum. I was a heathen when I was young. But Jesus, thank God that he saved me. And I'm saved by grace, not by works. So, that's what we do on this channel. We break down body cams and sometimes bully cams and we'll point we'll we'll shine a light on the bullies and we'll also shine a light on the good things that cops do. You ain't seen nothing yet because we're not we're just getting started here. And we're hoping to build a movement that joins with us at Stand Against Dark Blue, signs our pledge, go to standagainstdarkblue.com. Sign our citizen pledge if you're a citizen, sign our police officer pledge if you're former, retired, or active duty. And join us in standing against the bullies in the police department. Let's eradicate them from policing and policing will be a much better place without them. That's all I'm saying. It's just common sense. If we can get rid of the bullies and and restore the the honor that goes with policing, uh we will be a better country. And we're a long way from that. Cuz people are being taught in in elementary school to be afraid of the police. Our education system in this country is teaching kids to be afraid of the police. And that it's okay to run from them. It's okay to resist them. It's okay to to cuss at them like that like this teacher. No telling what she's teaching her kids. That needs to stop. And when we see it, all we can do is shine a light on it. And you do with it what you will. If you like this video, give it a thumbs up, share it with a friend. Make sure you go to YouTube if you're watching on Facebook and and subscribe on YouTube. And if you're on YouTube, go to Facebook and like us on Facebook. Follow us there. You'll be notified every time we go live. And we go live every day with some kind of body cam from somewhere. We try to have fun here. And some of the some of the videos we do are not really fun, but we have fun talking about it. And I've been criticized for using the word fun. I don't mean fun in a Pollyanna kind of way. I mean we have a good time here. And and you know, it we we make it light and jovial to the extent that we can. So, we just appreciate you watching and joining in and and commenting. And I have a lot of people that send me videos and they want commentary on them and things like that. That kind of stuff I love to to So, if you've got a video, something in your community that's happened and and you want me to weigh in on it, send it to me and I'll be happy to do that. In the meantime, you keep standing against the darkness and I'll be there right beside you. Thanks so much. We'll be back tomorrow. I'll go harder. I'll go
