This is a trick when I was a cop that I would use and I got a lot of people to confess from it. What am I talking about? Cops are trained to tell you, "Hey, somebody already told me everything. We already have all the information. We just want to get your side. We just want to, you know, help us help you." Cops don't always know everything, even when they tell you they do. They're trying to get you to give them information that they can't prove otherwise. This one little lie that cops tell is super effective in getting you to confess.
