So, if they tell you that they did it, do you you can't put them on the stand? >> I I cannot put them on the stand to deny doing it. If somebody has told me they committed this robbery, it could be anything. I can't put them on the stand and have them raise their right hand and start asking them questions about how they didn't do it. >> Mhm. >> Sometimes we'll get clients who admit to doing it to the lawyer, but demand they want to take the stand and and deny it. And so, what >> That's That's bold move. >> And so, what you have to do as a lawyer, you have to let them take the stand and you tell the judge, "I've advised my client not to testify. He insists on testifying. He's going to testify in the narrative." It means I'm not going to ask him a question cuz I can't do that. >> Mhm. >> And the judges know that he's about to lie, and everybody in the courtroom knows he's going to lie except for the jury. >> Yikes. Does the defense lawyer tell him not to like that's what's going to happen? >> lawyer tells him, "I'm not going to ask you any questions. I can't. I've got to alert the judge that you're about to lie, and this [clears throat] is how I'm going to tell him that you're about to lie."
