foreign hey everybody I'm David ridings Nashville criminal attorney I get this sometimes I don't get this a lot but people ask me on occasion is the police officer allowed to lie to me during his investigation during his questioning I have had many many clients come into the office and they were interrogated by a police officer about a crime which they say they did not commit but the police officer said I've got video evidence of you doing of you doing this specific crime or I have a witness that says that you were there or I have I have this written evidence or this documentary evidence that says that you're guilty of this crime so you might as well tell me your side of the story police officers are legally allowed to lie to you during their investigation to get you to confess they're allowed to lie and Supreme Court rules or Supreme Court decisions give them that right to lie and everything that you say to that police officer can be used against you to convict you even if it was based upon a lie so don't talk to the police when the police start asking you questions you say I'm sorry officer I don't answer questions without a lawyer if you'll remember that and you'll give your lawyer something to argue about in court that's what we love to do we love to argue I hope this has helped somebody I'm David writings I'll see you next time
