On April 3rd, 2025, the Martin County
Sheriff's Office received a call stating
that someone was impersonating a US
Immigration and Customs Enforcement
Officer. Once on scene, they made
contact with the suspect, a 23-year-old
male named
Jose. Wait, you want him to step out the
vehicle? Step out of the vehicle for me,
please.
What's going on? Uh, there was this guy
that I was riding around in a black
minivan. Okay.
Um I don't know if they got papers or
not, but they were threatening me. So I
followed them and I called
officer law enforcement.
Who Who law enforcement? We didn't get
no call. No, I called. I called. They're
over there in a black minivan. Okay.
Either deputies going to be out with
them right now. Okay. Okay. At any
point, did you identify yourself as Ice?
No. Are you sure about that? Yes, sir.
You're absolutely positive. Yes, sir.
Okay. I want you to let I want to let
you know right now identifying yourself
as a as a federal law enforcement. Yes,
sir. Is a crime. Hope you know that.
Yeah. Yeah. But I didn't get that. All

This the one that was going that was
following the the black man. The black

The reason why I called the cops is
because they were following me.
Uh the reason why I called because they
were following me and they over here
threatening me. So I I was hitting
blocks and I um So they were threat So
what were they threatening you for? No,
they they um I don't know. They they
were trying to start something. They had
a group of people in the car with
them. So I I stay out the way and that's
why I called the cops and I I'm not
going to lie. I act like I was like I'm
like I'm going to call the cops on you.
I told them I'm going to call the cops
on you. I act like I was ICE. I'm like
I'm going to call the cops on you
because whatever you did, they were over
there running around in
circles. But uh I'm calling my dad right
now to tell him. Okay.

the phone with uh You want me to verify
with him? He has he has a red uh
baseball cap on. It says Mexico. Okay.
Do you mind if we uh I I got to go to
work. I get I get I start work at 4

got videos. But basically what he told
me, he's like, "Hey, where are you
going?" I was like, "No." He pulled up.
He said, "What's up?" I said, "What's up
with you?" He's like, "I'm ice. Can I
see some ID? I was like, "Yeah, all
right. Show me your badge number." As
soon as I said, "Show me your badge
number and see if your your police." I
mean, if you're If not, I'm going to
call the police. Okay. And then he just
took off. He almost he almost crashed
into He took off on the side of the
road. Do you mind if I just get a little
bit of information from you real quick?

you I also got a camera. I I mean, I can
I can grab the video later and and and

Yeah. He man, he he followed me for like

so kind of run me through what exactly
happened. So, yeah, like I said, um, so
I had to start work at 4 today. So, I
left home. I did see a truck coming cuz
I I'm parked like this, right? And then
I see a truck. He just turn around. I
went back to Martin. You know where
Martin Street is, right? Mhm. I went
back because I live in a little Indian.
So I went back uh let's say going um
uh east all the way. I went back because
some of my guys that I take to work and
then as I uh exit Martin to get into
little Indian again that's where he
pulled off to the side of the road and
then he just followed me from there like
real close almost crashing into me. I'm
like what's wrong with these guys? as
I'm turning. He's turning with me and
then I have to pick up some guys uh here
by Warfield guy. That's where he pulled
off. I'm I'm like park and he pulled off
on the side, not on this side. He pulled
off on that side and I pulled down my
window and he's like hey what's up? I
like what's up with you. He's like oh
can I see some ID or he's like where you
going? I said I'm going to work where
Palm Beach. He's like all right can I
see some ID? I'm ice. I'm like all
right. And I told him I said you're
eyes. Let me let me see some badge. let
me see a badge or a bad number. And I I
can see he's not he's dressed in um
civilian clothes. So, um and then he
when he heard me say that, I got my
phone in uh on my my hand already
uh already ready to go cuz I knew there
was something on with him. So, I just um
and then he just took off. He almost hit
me like I said and then
uh and
then right
um right here on that curve, you know,
by Warfield. Yeah. He just entered that
street over there and he waited for me
to pass again and he just followed me.
Okay. He just kept coming behind me and
I just start doing circles like circles
around uh Ry. I didn't want to stop cuz
I didn't know if he had a weapon or not.
Okay. And then he just started I mean he
followed me for like four or five
minutes. I was waiting for you guys to
get here so you catch him. Okay. I
didn't want to park. I'm just letting my
dad know. But the reason why I call is
because I was trying to act like, you
know, cuz they were following me. I'm
just I'm just I was trying to head home
and they were following me. They had
like a couple
guys. So, you know, I don't
know. And I started chasing them around
the circle so I could get their license
plate. And I called and I told uh
whoever answered the phone. I told him
that that this is this and that that I
told him that oh yeah, they don't got
papers. I'm over here behind the back.
They were messing with me. I'm trying to
get home safe and that was it. And I
hung up and the lady was like, "All
right, I'm I'm going to send some my 30s
out." But that's
when But I don't know. I was just trying
to get home safe. They're Do you know
them? No, I don't. I don't. That's why I
call the cops. How did all this How all
this occur? Where were you coming from
and my I was coming this way. I was
coming back coming from Indian town.
Okay. I'm coming this way and I'm
heading this way on the curb. That's
where I met them and they were all
packed. So I started like going behind
them. I even gave the lady the license
plate. But how did
uh what what I'm asking is how did this
start? Does it just start that you just
pulled on to Indian app and then it just
happened out of nowhere? It started
because when I came in town when I when
I came in town and they were they were
reacting with they were like oh this and
that. They they cussed me out just out
of Yeah. Out of nowhere they started
threatening me and there were a bunch of
people in the van with them. They're
like this and that. And I'm like okay
I'm going to call the cops. And I
started chasing them and they started
going around me in circle and I called
the cops which I I told the lady this is
the license plate and they're the ones
grabbing me and I just don't want to be
involved with the police. I'm going to
just go home. She like okay I'm going to
send somebody out there. Okay. You know
that's why but instead y'all pull me
over. I don't know. And then uh did
everybody in here was obviously in the
vehicle at the time? Most of the guys,
yeah, I got two guys already in the
vehicle that saw what was going on and
then I had to pick up the rest of my
guys. Like I said, I I I uh Okay. So,
who else in here saw what happened?
So, both of us saw what happened. So,
where are they? Uh he's back here. Okay.
Uh can I speak with him for just a
second? He doesn't speak any any
English. Yeah. Yeah. But like I said,

we can verify it later. I don't want to
be late for work. We got a very very
very important tournament going on at

ICE. He was Ice. He asked me for an ID.

Uh I think the tag I did see it has like
two fives. I'm not sure if it's like B55
or something, but that's So that's
that's the truck right there. I think if
you want me to verify, I can look at him
real quick and I can see if that's him
or not, but he has a a red baseball hat
on that says Mexico.

he's wearing that hat and then we'll go

I call I was the one that caught the
cops. I was They did. I did. I gave the
license plates. I explained what I had
to explain to me.

truck a couple hours ago when he knew

circles. He saw me and wanted to get on

around the circle act like they were
trying to threaten me. So, I started

license plate. I gave the lady the
license plate. Look, they're going
around here. I'm just trying to go home.

did pull up next to you, what manner did

anything like No. So I was parked on the
side of the road like I mean I was
parked on this side, pick up my guys and

cause because they were over here
threatening me. Well, they were I was
coming in town and I caught a cop. There

were over here trying to threaten me and
try to throw me off and I followed them
and they was riding around in circles.

plates to them. Why did you follow them?
because they were they were trying to
threaten me and try to put me in a
situation that I want to be in. So
that's why I called the cops and I gave
the lady the information that I need to
and I g I gave her the license plate of
the of the car they have and they were
dropping. There was a bunch of them.
There were like probably six or seven of
them. I I felt like my life was in
danger. That's why I caught a
car and I told her that I don't want to
be in this situation. Yeah. I'm trying
to go home safe and she's like I'm going
to send a deputy out there. Just go
home. But instead, y'all pulled me over
for, you know, but I called the cops. I
told them that you going to get deported
the way how y'all treated me. This is So
you said that they were going to get
deported. Yeah, because cuz they they
look like a bunch of people that they
ain't got papers. There was a bunch of
them. Okay. Do me a favor from this
vehicle for a second.

ended up over here at Ryan's where he
was driving around in circles trying to
get away from this individual. Um, make

victims were trying to get away from him
and he continued to follow them. Okay.
So, make sure make that real detailed
and clear that this wasn't just a a

In the end, Jose was charged with false
person. He is currently being
represented by a public defender and has
pled not guilty. His case remains
