You get arrested, you got all the stuff in your pockets. The cops go through your pockets, they put everything in a bag, they book you, and you get bonded out later, and you get this bag full of stuff, and something's [snorts] missing. What do you do? They're going to likely go through your wallet, they'll pull all the cards out, they're they're looking for things in your wallet that could be contraband. So, you might get a jumbled pile of mess back, but everything that they took from your pockets should be in the bag. If it's not in the bag, you should have an evidence receipt for it that says, "Hey, we're holding this piece of evidence in the property room as evidence of the criminal offense." You're not going to get that kind of stuff back, but what if something's missing significant? You file a report, and whichever department is responsible will ultimately deal with that.
