On May 19th, 2023, an officer was on patrol when he spotted a known shoplifter with outstanding warrants for stealing from Walmart. He tried to pull her over, but what happened next caught him by surprise. >> Dispatch has BEEN NOTIFIED. >> BLACK HONDA ACCORD, FAILURE TO YIELD, TOOK A right on Lexington Road going towards Barnett Shoals. We're just sitting here in traffic. >> Why not just pull over instead of making it worse? You're not going to get away. >> Where's the closest unit at? We're actually still sitting here in traffic at the red light right before Barnett Shoals. Might be pulling in the Marathon, I'm not sure. They got their blinker on. Now, going past Remount Road, speed's 34. The driver's got some felony warrants for shoplifting. Speed's at 40 past Johnson Drive. They're not evading, they're evading traffic laws. >> Dispatch has been notified. >> [laughter] [gasps] >> Yo, they're taking the police on a police chase, but they're following the speed limit and everything. >> That four, speed's at still 45. Evading all traffic laws passing Living Hope Church. Just put their right blinker on right here before Dollar General. >> Dispatch has been notified. >> Okay. Let's box her in. >> No, pull over now. Pull over now. >> Might be coming to a stop. >> Dispatch has been Dispatch has been updated. >> Pull over. Do it now. PUT THE CAR IN PARK. 60, STAY IN YOUR CAR. HANDS! HANDS! [screaming] LET ME SEE YOUR HANDS! GET OUT! >> MHM. >> HANDS OUT THE WINDOW! GET ON THE GROUND! DO IT [screaming] NOW! WATCH CROSSFIRE! CROSSFIRE! You're good. >> Well, he told the guy to stay in the car. Why would you get out Yeah, crossfire. What's up with this officer in front, man? >> You're good. On the ground. Get on your knees, ma'am. Get on your knees. We're 10-37. We're 10-95. You might need to adjust her cuffs. One of them's kind of tight. >> Oh, he must be new. Guy in the front. >> No. >> Any weapons or anything like that? Why don't you pull over? >> Because I was going home. >> Not cuz you got warrants? >> I was going home. >> You had plenty of opportunities to pull over. >> I was going home. >> And also, you were driving pretty fast. Cuz you knew I was behind you. I'll let you know in a second. Turn it off. I didn't mean to put you in a bad spot like that, bud. Hey, Morgan. Hold that truck for a sec. Where's he moving at? >> Put her right here to get his lane back open. >> All right, yeah. Up. No. >> [bell] >> I want to help search the car. Hey. I appreciate what you did. When I tell you to stay in the car, it's cuz I have my gun drawn. >> That's what I'm saying. Yo. I'm I'm Yeah, this guy must be new, man, cuz that was crazy. Talk about crossfire, for real for real. And he's smiling. I don't see nothing funny about it. There's nothing funny about that. I'm glad the the the officer was in time on this. Going to tell him about, you know, yo, what you doing, bro? >> Hey. I appreciate what you did. When I tell you to stay in the car, it's cuz I have my gun drawn. And I you were like right in the line of fire. And then, yeah. So, when I tell you to stay in the car, stay in the car. Appreciate the help, though. Like, that did help. >> Yeah, that's why I was trying to stay to the side, and then she like >> Yeah. >> going to go around me and then >> Man, good. >> Hey, sir, how you doing? Am I in your way? >> No. I I was getting off the loop, and she was getting on on Peter Street, and I've been looking for her all day, so I whipped around. And as soon as I did, she freaking >> Who is this? >> Uh Shon Shonder. She She took off like she was speeding on the loop, boy. And I was like, well, damn, I can't like I couldn't tell, cuz I wasn't behind her if she was running from me or if she was just going fast. >> Yeah. >> So, when I finally got behind her is when she slowed down, started obeying everything, was like pointing at different places, as if she was going to pull over. And then, she just wouldn't pull over. >> She tried telling me she was going to pull over up ahead, and I was like, no, pull over in the back. >> Can you hear me? Hey, can you hear me, James? to the rain. I'm going to put you on the speaker. I'm here with Miss tell you who you are and where she's barred for 2 years. So, this is a guy from Walmart loss prevention. He's going to tell you you're barred from the Walmart on Lexington Road for 2 years. Go ahead and tell her, James. >> All right, miss. You're barred from Lexington Road. That's our Walmart location for 2 years. You're no longer allowed in the parking lot or anything attached to the parking lot. That includes Rainbow and everything up to GameStop and the Wing Factory. >> You understand you're barred from there for 2 years? >> Uh-huh. >> All right, thank you. >> [bell] >> I'm pretty sure all of this is stolen. >> I just signed two felony warrants on her yesterday. >> I'm pretty sure all of this is stolen. >> Oh, probably is, yeah. Um that's all she does is steal. >> Yeah. >> See if I can figure out where it came from. How about you did TJ Maxx? Is there a Do you know of anything >> God damn, we got to get my boy in the gym, boy. My guy right here, man. God damn. We got We got to get him in the gym, man. He got to start get him you know some chicken, some rice some protein. We got to get him up there. He He underweight, man. He underweight, man. Yo, what's up? >> is stolen. >> Yeah. >> See if I can figure out where it came from. How about you did TJ Maxx? Is there a Do you know of anything specific that she took? >> Well, at Walmart, just food and fishing poles. It's not in here, but This is probably from Academy today. Yeah, that's Academy. Let me call my uh Let me call my contact at Academy. >> I don't know, man. >> Oh, really? >> So, the thing that was weird is that when I spun around on her, she freaking bolted it on the loose. >> They got trash bags, so they're just going in and filling up bags, which >> What are those pills up there? Did y'all see those >> Pills. I I saw pills that were outside their original container. The one that's in the yellow. >> In the container, but what are they? >> Is that she's going home? I got to figure out where home was, though. >> They found some pills. >> Hey, you said you were going home. Where's home? Okay. >> I found some pills. >> What? I mean >> You don't need to ask me no questions. >> Just that's fine. Yeah, I I was just curious. >> You know, we don't see it too often, but, you know, people that do remain silent it's kind of like a shocker, you know, cops be are shocked in a way, you know, because it's really not common, and that's really what you should do, you know? I'm not a lawyer, but um I would remain silent until I got in touch with a lawyer. You only answer the things that are necessary, you know, like what your name is, stuff like that, blah blah blah, but where is home and all that. Just like a traffic stop, man. Traffic stop, they going to stop you. Hey, you been doing such and such, and then they going to try to make small talk, and nah. You don't Well, well, no. No. Uh you don't got to answer none of them small talk questions, none of that. >> These are >> Really? Really? >> Really? >> They can be stealing everything, huh? >> I don't think these are scheduled. These are blood pressure pills. >> I mean, some of this stuff looks used, but then also some of it looks don't fit. >> This Yeah, this is all I'm worried about cuz it looks like they just took this in a bag. >> Yeah. >> I'm going to seize this. If I can't figure out where it came from, I'll find the evidence. What with that? >> Yeah. You want to take that Nerf gun, too? >> No. Whose stuff is this? I'm going to take this bag of stuff cuz it looks stolen. If it's not, you can get it back from me later. >> See, this is This is kind of like where we need to get. See, my guy right here, he got a good start. You know, this is kind of where we got to get the black dude up to par, you know, a little bit. You know, he's still on the slim side, too, but you could see, you know, he got some sort of muscle definition. The black guy, the uniform is falling off like it don't fill his shirt out at all, man. We got to definitely get him in the gym. They need to be workout partners or something. Yeah. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? Just like it's not good to be overweight, right? You don't want to be underweight, neither, man. You know what I'm saying, man? Take Take advantage of your 20s and 30s. You got to get in that gym, man. >> Oh, 10:32, huh? >> Yeah. >> Run a serial number on it. This guy. Did you want to put this in airplane mode? I don't need her phone. Do you have your phone on you? >> Yeah, I got mine. >> Do you want to see the serial number? >> I'm not I'm not doing a search warrant on her phones. I don't have any reason to I mean, I I don't have any reason to do a search. It very well could be shady, but I mean, my shoplifting I got open on her are just very minor ones, but she's a repeat shoplifter and the way she's got trash bags in there tells me they've just been going into stores filling up with trash bags. So, I'll try to figure out where it came from. If not, I can always just put it into safekeeping. But I wanted to get her bars from Walmart. Thanks, man. >> Damn, he the only one with any sort of time on there. Everybody else look young, young. Look like they they definitely still in their 20s. >> I need my phone to get numbers out of it. >> Okay, which one is it? >> It's the one with the It's blue. >> Do you need uh I need to keep five. Do you need the rest of your keys or you want to leave them in the car? Okay. Yeah, you got You can leave them in the car. This one? >> Yeah. >> All right. Anything you need? >> No, I need my keys. >> Okay. >> These are your keys. >> All right, we'll keep your keys with you then. >> Don't do what I do. >> What did you do? >> I turned up. >> You the one came to my son house? >> Is your son's house on >> Where? >> No, sorry. Different person. Uh no, I did not go to your son's house. >> How you know my car? >> I've been looking for you all day. >> For what? >> For your warrants. You got shoplifting warrants. >> What? >> You have shoplifting warrants. >> For what? >> I don't know. I just know you got them. Plus your uh your rims are very unique and you have that little dent on the side of your car. >> No, I know that, but I wanted to tell you my son said officer came to his house. But I don't know what for. >> Uh I don't know. I don't even know who your son is or where he lives. >> What? I thought they normally send it to you for you. >> I pulled you over. I didn't go to your house. >> What you pull me over for? >> For For your warrants. I told you. >> She was booked on warrants for two counts of felony shoplifting. She pled guilty to both counts and was sentenced to five years of probation on each count along with $100 in fees. For this incident, she was booked for fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and obstruction of officers. She pled no low plea to the obstruction charge and the other charge was dismissed. She was sentenced to 120 days in confinement and ordered to pay $50 in fees. On May 19th, >> Okay. Yeah, man. I don't think I've ever seen a police chase where they're actually doing the speed limit in like >> [laughter] >> that's a little out of the ordinary. She said that she was going home. That's a Come on, man. Like it doesn't make sense to me. It's like once the cop is behind you, you already know that you're caught. So you might as well just pull over and make it go smooth, you know, because now you getting fleeing and eluding and all that like all these extra things. I mean, I know in the big scheme of things you know, most of the stuff's going to get dropped, you going to take a plea deal, whatever what but still. It's just nasty work, man. Stealing? You stealing What What she had Nerf guns and stuff like that? Come on, man. Come on. It don't It don't make no sense, man. Work. Spend a portion of your paycheck if you got something. Go treat yourself, get some get something nice, you know, I see she had a couple things of perfume in there, you know. You know, you treat yourself nice, you know, it's no no need to just go and steal stuff, now. >> Everything heavy, but you make it feel so light. Yeah, you [music] make it feel light. Just fly with it. Keep it light. >> [music] [singing] >> Late night drive. Don't be shy.
