This Broomfield Colorado police officer absolutely did not like this guy expressing his disdain and distrust for government officials. >> I just don't like nobody that works for this government cuz it's all this is like the great Satan state country and I just try to stay out of everybody's way and live my life and be free. That's it. >> Will this officer extend an olive branch and dispel this man's hatred for government? Nope. The best he could do was open his mouth and demonstrate why so many people feel the same way. >> If you don't want to identify yourself, that's fine. As soon as we pull onto the main street, I'll just pull you over. >> You know, this almost sounds like >> If I saw officer stay behind you long enough, we can find a reason to pull you over. >> Yes, we're in Broomfield, Colorado. A guy is sitting at a gas station in his car with his friend. They had just gotten ice, used the restroom, and went back to their vehicle. While the driver was in his vehicle, he had his head down and was scrolling through his phone when a Broomfield, Colorado police officer approaches and begins with a barrage of fishing expedition questions based on the well-worn suspicion excuse. Let's take a look at this video together and I'll make some comments along the way. >> Okay, but that I already dealt with that in Illinois, so and I just got into an accident and I'm dealing with the insurance with that, but What what's what's the issue with my car cuz this is random? >> It's random? >> Let me pull up. Cuz I feel like what are you bothering me for? >> At this point, this is harassment. >> Huh? >> This is harassment. >> All right, sounds good. >> What's your name and your badge number? >> My name is Officer Martinez, badge number 7473 with Broomfield PD. >> Mhm. >> So, I was just on my way into the gas station here doing my own thing. I looked over and you were slumped over at the wheel, so I called out that you were asleep at the wheel. >> No, I wasn't asleep at the wheel. I was holding my phone, trying to figure out something, but that's not none of y'all's information or your business. >> Translation, I was going into the store to do my own thing, and then I saw you over there doing your own thing, and I thought, "You know what? I'm going to go ahead and get involved in his business. He doesn't need to be doing his own thing without me." >> I'm just doing what I got to do so I can go back. Nobody's asleep at the wheel. You didn't see me moving my hands? >> Do you You want me to explain things, or do you want me to not explain >> Go ahead, explain it. >> So, number one thing is I try to give everybody a positive interaction. And so, from just I telling >> I've been bothered with police officers in every state, and I'm [music] getting fed up with it, so and I don't do nothing. I don't have anything on my license or anything like that. Nothing came back to you. So, I don't understand why I'm even being harassed right now. Okay. >> Again, I'm just explaining what was going on. I was going to go walk past At one point, I was actually at your window right there >> Mhm. >> on your side. And then I was actually on the radio talking out loud, and none of you guys budged. >> I heard somebody talking, but I didn't know you guys were talking. I thought random people were just talking to each other. >> calls for concern for when I see your head kind of slumped over. I see >> Why is everybody in my car in the first place? >> Just listen to me for a second. I'm trying to explain things. >> Okay, can you hurry up? I have things to do. I got somewhere to go. >> So, when you're slumped over like that and then I see homeboy or homegirl, I'm not sure, slumped over in the backseat right there. >> So, people can't sleep in the backseat? >> Look, I'm trying to explain things because typically when people act Let's see what it is. 1:41 in the morning or over like this at the wheel, nine times out of 10, they go to jail for DUI. >> Nine times out of 10. I just bet you were a criminal. I was just betting on it. I had all my money on that you were drunk, so I thought I'd come over here and interfere with your right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. >> That gives cause for concern. There's a reason for contacting you because in majority of the time people tend to be drinking, they go and they stop somewhere, they fall asleep at the wheel, and then we have a contact with them to make sure that they're one, good to be driving, two, they're not on drugs, or three, >> do none of that. >> or three, and I don't know you. You don't >> Speaking of on drugs, look at this cop's eyes. Look at them bugging out of his head. What is going on there? >> three, >> We don't do none of that. >> or three, and I don't know you. You don't know me. Why do you ask me for my name? >> Mhm. >> And I get with you cuz you've never seen my face a day in your life. You've never had a conversation with me a day in your life. >> Mhm. >> And so you don't even know what I'm about. You don't >> I try to not to deal with y'all at all. >> be cool, you don't know if I'm going to walk up and be an [ __ ] You don't know me. >> I like >> Vice versa back to you. >> I just don't like nobody that works for this government cuz it's all this is like the great Satan state country and I just try to stay out of everybody's way and live my life and be free. That's it. I don't try to bother nobody. I don't get into no trouble in this world, so I don't know why I'm always being contacted by the government agents. I don't understand that. Like we don't do anything. >> Cuz they have to justify their existence, sir. If they're not bothering somebody, they're not doing their jobs. That's what they're paid to do. They're not there to serve and protect, they're there to harass and collect. >> contacted all the time. What's causing that? >> I do not know. I just got harassed in [ __ ] Illinois. I'm I'm filing I'm filing a complaint on that. And then I got other stuff that I'm I'm dealing with with other >> [sighs] >> law enforcement from other areas. And I'm looking like, I don't even do nothing. What is What What is the devil on me for? >> I think it's racial profiling at this point. >> Right. Right, cuz we don't We were just about to pull out. I thought somebody was randomly talking like two people were talking to each other. I heard them. But for me to have my head down like this, I could be doing this. >> You But that's the thing. That's what I'm telling you. >> You've never done that before like look at your phone and look down? >> thing is I didn't see you doing that and I stood on that side window for a while. I didn't see texting. >> You got no right to look at our car. >> app right there? >> Mhm. >> I didn't see you moving. In fact, the only >> Okay, but now that you see me alert and everything is everything >> Look at this right here. Just creeping around looking through people's things. >> I'm good. >> Well, I'm still >> There's three cops on the scene right now. What a great use of resources. >> I'm concerned of why I Like I you were talking >> You have no right to search our car. >> Nobody's searching your car. >> Why is he looking at my >> This is illegal. >> looking in your car. >> No, you can't. This is illegal. >> Can we talk about the elephant in the room? This passenger's voice just sounds like a cartoon character. >> You can't look through our car. This is illegal. >> No. The second off, us looking in through your windows is >> It's like an episode of The Simpsons. >> This is not illegal. It's not a search. We're not opening up your doors. We're not opening compartments. That's a search. If we leaned in through your window, different story. We're not here to violate your rights, all right? >> Mhm. >> So, >> as they stand at the window violating rights cuz these people are clearly not free to go. They can't just drive away right now. >> What I'm saying is >> before there's going to be a traffic stop as soon as you guys pull out into a main street right here because of the violations. I'm just basically streamlining the process because one of the cause for concern of you're saying you're texting, I didn't see you texting. I saw one phone getting used. There was that phone. >> Streamlining the process kind of like >> Okay, I'm allowed to use my phone. I'm a passenger. I don't drive. >> Just I'm ready for him to get done so we can go. >> So, just to give my cause for concerns, I know you said you haven't been drinking, you haven't been doing anything like that. Is there a reason why you don't want to identify yourself? >> Cuz I don't have to. I didn't do anything wrong. >> All right. >> All right. >> So, if you pull out onto a main street without a mirror right here, >> So, that's in this state, that's that's what? What is that? Cuz I've not had any problem being pulled over before. >> We were just told in Illinois that we're not going to get [ __ ] with over a [ __ ] mirror. >> and they said, "No, as long as you have this mirror, that mirror, >> That's in Illinois. >> I got you, too. >> Yeah, all the way from 1,400 miles away. >> So, they said, "Well, if you as long as you have that mirror and this mirror, you should be fine." I said, "Is that anywhere?" And they was like, "Yeah, you should be fine everywhere." >> Yeah, and that was our >> You are not strictly required to have two side mirrors in the state of Colorado. Look it up. >> See short. >> how Illinois polices? Cuz I don't know anything about Illinois. I don't know their cops. I don't know a single person that lives in Illinois. >> Well, look that look that up when you get done. Look that up for me. >> go on Google. It's called defective vehicle. >> Mhm. >> CRS, Colorado revised statutes. >> Yeah, but I'm not as you can see, my plate is not from here. >> It doesn't matter. You were driving on a roadway in Colorado. You were driving in Colorado, so therefore you have to follow Colorado Title 42. Order of you. >> It's well said, order follower. You got to follow our rules. We got rules here, and if you don't follow our rules, that gives us the right to mess with you. >> So, here's the thing. >> Here's the deal. Here's the deal. Here we go. >> I want to make sure that I do everything to the umpteenth degree. >> Well, we were just getting lost and this is trying to visit and see the scenery. Now we know we not moving here. >> Damn it. Why do you guys always [ __ ] up the state I want to go to? >> Because Because >> So, I'm asking if you were willing to identify yourself as this is a contact. >> This shouldn't have been a contact, but you know, I would prefer not. >> So, or if you don't want to identify yourself, that's fine. As soon as you pull onto the main street, I'll just pull you over. >> What? How is that in concert with and consistent with freedom and protecting and serving unalienable rights? As soon as you pull out, I'm going to find something to pull you over. We'll get you with something, boy. I mean, it's just a matter of time. We're watching you. >> So, I'm pretty much stuck here. >> This is harassment. >> Let me look this thing up. >> This is harassment. >> And >> What? >> Is the person in the backseat doing okay? Cuz I have He's quiet and they haven't budged. >> He sleeps. >> Huh? >> He sleeps. >> I know, but typically lights at people's face, we talk loudly and then people wake up and they look up and they're like, "What the >> He's autistic. He don't like cops either, so he don't bother. He just >> Get it. A lot of people don't like us. They tend to like to look up to see who's making all the noise around them. >> And you demonstrate, officer, why people don't like you. >> Hold on. He's fine. I hate this damn country. >> Yeah, me too. >> This country is the devil. >> You've been saying that for years. >> Oh, though Oh. >> He's looking up the Colorado statute. >> It is Colorado's law for effective vehicles. For effective vehicles. This is why I tell you to look up stuff. He's fine. You can get out of my car now. I'm going to put something >> car. >> I'm going to put blinds up on my car. That's what I'm >> Yeah. >> Yeah, he's breathing. >> He don't look like it. >> He's breathing. He does this all the time. >> No, Jay. Thank you. Go back to sleep. >> He's awake. >> Y'all weird. >> He does this all the time. >> my father. Y'all thoughts are weird to me. Like >> I know they're weird. >> Now there are four cops on the scene. Three male cops, one female cop. >> Cuz we don't understand them. >> It requires that all vehicles including four-wheel drive and AWD have tags. And >> Is he okay? >> Yes, he's fine. >> What are you doing there? >> He wasn't asleep. I'm just making sure. >> Don't do that. >> He's fine. He does this all the time. >> Calm down. >> They're not just making sure, they are fishing. They want to find something wrong so they can get into that car, pull people out of the car, harass and abuse him. >> No, you don't have to. I got this. I'll take care of them. Uh this is all new to me. Y'all just bum rushed the car like I'm so sick of this government. I do not like this damn country. I don't. I wish somebody else would take over this [ __ ] cuz y'all not doing it right. This is not This is wild. They do this over stolen property. You defend stolen property. >> Yeah, no [ __ ] It's stolen land. >> We just went to go get ice and for y'all to use the bathroom. Like what is that a problem about? >> be a problem. >> call them or something? >> I >> I don't know. >> I just want to make sure that you don't want to identify yourself at all. >> No. >> No, cuz I didn't commit anything. So, I'm not going to commit anything. So, >> Sounds good. >> Well, I'm trying to figure this out now. >> Yeah, you guys >> Hey, are you okay? >> Like, if y'all don't get y'all weird asses away from my car, I'm going to be making a report and a complaint about them. It says nothing on here about a mirror. It says nothing on here about a mirror. >> Then they're using this unlawful. They're leaving anyway. >> Yeah, but they're probably going to wait for me somewhere. >> So, this is another example of cops exercising their power and authorita- over the rest of us cuz they know they can.
