Legalized government sanctioned home invasion is still criminal home invasion. And if you're not free to defend yourself on your own property in your own home, this is not the land of the free, home of the brave. A team of thin blue line Minnesota officers break into an old man's home. The old man with the foundation of the Second Amendment defends himself through the use of his firearms and chaos ensues. >> Police search war go outside. Go get him. Get him. On October 12th, 2023, in Glenderorado Township near Princeton, Minnesota, a drug search warrant erupted into chaos when a 66-year-old man opened fire on task force officers with a 223 rifle. >> I think I hear him. >> Police search warrant, open the door now earlier. >> Police search warrant, open the door. Ram. >> Police. >> Come on. Now, sir, >> your hands up. I don't know if you heard the warning, but he did say go away. You okay? Anyone hit? I'm >> hit. >> All right, let's get outside. Get outside. >> Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go. >> Is everybody outside? >> Is everybody outside? Where's Chris? Where's Chris? Right here. Right here. See if they can get fast and lag as the car. Come on. Hey, you're all right. You're all right. You're all right. >> The man inside was identified as 66-year-old Carl Thomas Holberg, a suspected meth dealer. >> Officer Nick was the closest to this chaotic exchange as a storm of bullets tore through his shield. >> Police search war. >> Come on now. >> Come out with your >> Go away. There's your warning. You're in a man's house. a suspected drug dealer. What crime did he commit? Did he threaten somebody? Did he harm somebody? Did he steal or damage property and not return it? What's the crime? Who's the victim? Maybe he had products other people wanted to buy. Maybe he wanted to engage in a voluntary mutual transaction with them. Maybe they engaged in a voluntary mutual transaction with him. What harm was done? No harm was done. No crime was committed until the criminals in uniform broke into his house. Armed criminals broke into his house and jeopardized his life. >> Heads up. >> I'm >> And that's exactly how the colonists treated the red coats. And that's exactly why the Declaration of Independence was written. And this is precisely why they added the second amendment in the Bill of Rights. >> Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Turn. Tournic. Tournate. >> Tournate. >> Down. Officer down. >> Tournate. Tournate. I got you. >> Now, I got you. I got you. Shot. >> Right arm. Right arm. Right arm. >> I got you. I got you. >> Yeah. >> While Officer Nick was on the ground receiving first aid from fellow officers, the others who were injured were rushed in a squad car to a nearby ambulance for treatment. Got in. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. You >> Yeah. Get in. Hey, I'm going. Should we talk about you want to bank with somebody? Let's go. >> Hey, you guys look at each other. Strip your ass off, please. Sh your vest off, buddy. Okay. hang there, buddy. Chris, your right hand. >> Within minutes, the van pulled up to the waiting ambulance. >> All right. Come on, buddy. Come on. >> I got you. We got you. >> Hey, he's hitting the chest. Shot. Shots fired. >> We need to get to the ambulance now. >> Sorry. >> Yeah, let's go, buddy. [Music] I got one in the hand. >> Back at the scene, officer Nick needed his bleeding controlled before being transported to the hospital. >> Where you shot? >> Right arm. Right arm. Right arm. >> I got you. I got you. >> Yeah. Right arm. >> Where you at? Right arm. >> We got two officers down. >> Hurry up. >> Get a helicopter. Cody, >> hurry up. >> I got you, brother. I got you. >> You're going to be just fine. Back it up. losing blood. Losing blood >> here. >> Here. Let me see. Let me see. Where's your leg at? >> Arm. >> Hang on. Hang on. Hang on. Lift up a little bit. Okay. I got to get up high and fight to the joint. >> Yep. >> Can we get 45? Should we talk about >> Look at this. They weren't able to pull their criminal activity off as smoothly as they wanted to. Somebody fought back. there was resistance. What if this starts happening more and more? Maybe law enforcement will rethink their actions as it pertains to the war on drugs, which isn't a war on drugs. It's a war on people. The way they were treating this guy, that's how you would treat a Tony Montana. This is how you would treat a Venezuelan drug gang, a cartel who is also involved in criminal activity like murder. Not two old people pursuing life, liberty, and happiness through a meth pipe, which isn't advisable, but let people do what they're going to do. This is the land of the free or it's not. When you act as violent criminals, expect to be treated as violent criminals. >> We're going to get the van, brother. >> Hey, we're going to try to get him to the van. Okay. 453. >> Can we get one of your tighter tighter tighter tighter working? I got you. I got you. You're going to be just fine. Okay. >> Hey, Cody, when you have it on there, >> guys. Tighter. >> You're good. You're good. I got to just get the bleeding to stop. Okay. I don't want to go too tight. The bleeding's controlled. I need a knife or something. I need to see what's going on here. >> Right here. >> You cover. Cover. >> Just in case they come out. I need to know. >> Hey, I'm going to re >> Okay. All right. All right. I got you, brother. I got you. Okay. I see what's going on. Okay, >> you got um you got the front run med. I got one officer with a severe laceration to his right arm. We're going to back him out. >> Unlock. You good? >> I copy. We're getting a hold of right now. >> Cover. Cover. Cover. This is you. You bag. >> Hey, brother. We got you. We got you, man. Fine. Are you hit anywhere else besides an arm, >> dude? I don't think so. >> Okay, all the leg stuff. Do a body check on him. >> Truly. >> Okay, >> you just stay eyes on there. I got him. I promise you I got him. Do not let anyone sneak up on us. >> Hopefully, you did a body check. >> What's your name? >> Nick. >> Nick. I'm Cody. Listen to me. I got you. Okay. >> I'm not going to let a damn thing happened to you. >> Just so you guys know, >> watch the front. >> Did you check his belly? >> Yeah. >> Get this armor off of him. I want to make sure he didn't get hit anywhere else. Everyone else, make sure you cover up. We're totally vulnerable here. Full eyes. The bleed is controlled. All right, brother. >> All right. >> You're going to be fine, Nick. I got you. I got you. All right. >> All right. All right. You're good. We're there. All right. Emergency. >> Yeah. Yeah. Officer down. more like home invader down >> right arm tourniquet mark at 7:15 hours open laceration all the way down the arm I'd say maybe a liter of blood loss before the tourniquet was on a positive blood type >> blood a positive >> a positive thank you >> what's the circumstance >> he got shot >> we got shot out coming inside we got two others hit I don't know if they made it here yet around coming shot this other You know, it sounded like rifle, right? Is it just me or is that like >> No, I was like they were breaking in or they were defending. >> No, we're making entry into the target home. >> We took shots inside the home. >> We got >> uh No, the people who took the shots weren't breaking in. They were defending their home. The home invaders are the ones who got shot at. It's called getting your just desserts. What do you expect when you break into a man's home? What do you expect when people are fed up to hear with thin blue line nonsense? >> Get back. Okay. >> After the injured officers were >> this cop with the hand sanitizer. What the heck? >> Rushed to the hospital. Moments later, the suspect's wife stepped out of the house while he remained barricaded inside. >> Hands on the hand. >> Hands up. >> Walk to me. >> Stay there. Stay there. Watch that door. Watch that door. >> Walk to me. Keep your hands in the air. Walk to me. >> It's a male. >> Female. >> Female. >> Come on with your hands up. Come to us right now. Don't ask any questions. I'll take burles. Okay. >> Watch to us right now. Hands up. Do not lower your hands. >> Keep coming. >> I can take her when she gets over here. >> They treated this like these people were the criminals of the century. This woman is in extremely poor health, can barely walk, has a cigarette sticking out of her hand. But this team of officers treated these old people like they were public enemy number one. >> Just have her walk past you. They'll grab on. >> Keep going. >> Come. I've >> Keep coming. Keep coming to me over here. >> Come kill him. >> Is he still alive? >> Okay, sir. What has he got for firearms? >> I don't know. Sorry. I'm scared to death. I'm freezing cold. >> I'm sorry about that. Can you sit down right there? You can keep smoking. >> I don't know what the hell's going on. >> We're here for a search warrant. Who else is inside the house? Your husband. >> My dog. My dog. My dog. >> Your husband's name is Carl. I got her. >> Sorry. >> Yeah. >> Are you injured? >> No, I'm scared. >> Is Carl injured? >> I can guess. >> Where did he get shot? >> He's like, >> is he still alive? >> Yes. >> Does he What does he have for firearms? >> Guns. >> What kind? Um, >> what was he shooting at us with? >> I don't know. I woke up to this. Okay. >> Were you guys in the same bedroom together? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Who else is in the house? >> In the Does he have rifles or handguns? What did he shoot us with? >> Yeah. I shoot seven rounds. It's a 20 gauge, 12 gauge. I don't know. >> Okay. >> Explain this to me. >> We will explain this right now. Is not the time. Okay. We got to make sure that Carl is okay. >> He's not okay and he's not. >> We want him to >> Got the thin blue line. Flag of tyranny always in view. I'm sure there's a couple of these officers with the Punisher logo because, you know, they're on team America. They're on our side. They're carving out more freedom for the rest of us. Making sure we're safe from all these vile criminals like Carl and his wife. >> You saw my husband. >> Come out to us. >> Kicking my door for no reason. Who's Why would you do this? >> You got real guns. >> Just breathe for me. Okay. >> What is he worrying about? Can you take everything we have? >> Why would we take everything? What's he mean by that? >> What is he worrying about? Oh, I don't know. Something about a home invasion. I don't know what's wrong with Carl. I mean, bunch of guys breaking in our door with guns, threatening our lives. Got no idea. Carl must be psycho >> because the rich people steal everything. I got I got to go. I got >> We're going to get you out of here shortly. Okay. But it's not safe right now because your husband's shooting at us. >> What do we How many people we think are inside right now? >> One person. >> No, it's not safe right now because you're invading people's homes. That's what's making this situation unsafe. Officer, >> Jeff, Carl. >> Yes. >> What does he have? >> Guns. What kind of gun? >> She said multiple guns. A shotgun is what she thought he shot with. >> Yeah, she got shot the cave gun. >> Can we work on getting her out of here? >> Let's get her out of here. Let's move. >> Can I blank or something, please? >> We're going to get you in a squad. Can we get her in a squad and then let's Hey, guard. We got to We want to move back. We want to get this perimeter a little lighter. We're pretty vulnerable right here. So, if we can get her out, get her in a squad down the street. >> Yeah, that's fine. That's my squad. Get somebody talking to her. >> And then she can't figure out what's going on for Carl. We have I can have dispatch chat and I'll just get her there if I can. >> We just need to back our prim right now. >> You're not going to shoot me. >> Stand up, you guys. >> We'll help you up. >> Do you want me to get back to my squad and drive my squad right here? >> Maybe cuz she's not very mobile. >> Let me do that. >> Special response teams rushed to the scene as negotiators worked to reach him by phone. After multiple attempts, Holberg finally agreed to come out of the house. >> Look at this guy. Old, frail. He can also barely walk. If I was one of these cops on the scene, I'd be I'd be looking around going, "Well, what do guys, what are we doing? These aren't high-profile criminals. They've probably not even harmed anybody or threatened to harm anybody or damage property. What are we doing here? We're wasting time. We're wasting resources. We're jeopardizing lives. We're committing crimes. I quit." No. No. Not. They're getting a paycheck. They're incentivized to commit this criminality on American soil. They're getting paid to deprive people of their rights under the color of drug laws. >> Let's go with you. Leave it. >> You hear that? >> Yep. Leave it. >> Yeah. Give announcements. >> Carl. >> Carl. >> Don't let him get back in that house. >> I won't. >> Can we give announcements? >> Hey, Derek. >> Carl, I need you to stand up with your hands up. We have a canine on scene. We don't want you to get bit, sir. >> We want to push up to the openings in my room. >> What's that, sir? >> I need to be right up here if he's in a good target lock. >> Move in. >> Can you speak up, sir? >> Let the team know that I'm moving up. >> He's going to bite you if you don't comply with me, sir. >> What's that? >> Hey, watch him. Watch that guy. >> Watch him. Stand up. >> Watch that guy. >> Watch that guy. >> Watch. >> Carl, I need you to comply or I'm going to send the dog and you will be bit. >> Watch that guy. >> Carl, can you put your hands on the hood of that car for us? Yeah. >> Just put your hands on the hood of that car, buddy. Just work. Don't want anybody to get hurt. Just put your hands on the hood of the car. Carl, I need to see both your hands. Can you put them on your chest and like hug yourself? Just hug your There you go. Leave them both right there for me. Is that okay, >> guys? If he makes a move back to the house, I'm running up with the dogs. >> We're carjackers. We're kidnappers. We're home invaders. Just work with us, Carl. Will you make this easy on yourself, Carl? >> Thank you. Could you just walk a little towards us, Carl? Like that? Just come a little close amongst your hands like that, Carl. Is that okay? >> I don't know. >> Can you come towards me, Carl? >> Just keep your hands there and come towards me. I appreciate you crossing your arms so I can see your hands. Are you able to walk a little bit? I'm asking for three or four steps. Carl, can you just walk three or four steps? Lean up against either the impala or the back of the Sebring. That's all I'm asking. Carl, we want everybody to be okay, including you. Can you just come a few steps right over there, bud? Just lean up against the front fender of that Apollo. That's all I'm asking. Rather, >> if you truly wanted everybody to be okay, maybe you should have thought twice before you broke into a man's house. >> Just right to that front fender, Carl. That's all I'm asking. Lean up against that. >> He is. >> I can't see what's behind that mattress. >> I can't either. He keeps looking down at you. >> Carl, there's a mattress there that I can't see everything or what's there. Can I just have you stand in front of >> I can't hear you, Carl. Can you guys hear him? No, >> I can't hear him. Carl, I can't hear you, bud. Can you move up to the passenger side of the car so we can talk? Carl, are you hurt anywhere? >> Leave it. >> He said yes. >> Yeah. Where are you hurt, Carl? >> In your foot. >> I can get you some medical attention for that. >> Yeah, I can see blood on his right foot. >> Say again. >> I I'm >> Watch that guy. Bronco. >> Yeah. If you walk to that front fender, I can get you some medical attention. I'm asking for two or three steps. Just to the fender. Stop, Carl. Stop. Stop. Go. Get him. Get him. >> Get him. Roco, come. Hold on, Roco. Hey, come here, buddy. Somebody cover the house. I got it. I got >> Carl, put your hands behind the back. >> Put your hands behind. >> Now, what if at this point Carl was able to break free or there were two or three friends of Carl's in the house and they took out every one of these criminals, what would happen? There'd be a funeral. They'd be stopping up the streets with their motorcades and their motorcycles. And there'd be overtime had by all and they'd be proclaiming how all of these home invaders were heroes and warriors and they were just trying to make the neighborhood safe. You ever noticed you don't have the Venezuelan drug cartel breaking into people's houses, but you do have local, state, and federal law enforcement agents breaking into American homes. When was the last time you were extorted by a gang member? I mean, a street gang member. Now, think back. How many times have you been extorted in your life by a thin blue line gang member? Are they really here to serve and protect us? Or are they here to deprive us of our rights under the color of law and conspire against our rights in violation of 18 USC 241 and 242? So when people defend their homes than they defend their persons against thin blue line red coat tyranny, can you really blame them? Here we go. >> Okay, roll up to the recovery position. Get to your knees. Get to your knees. >> Sit up, Carl. >> Stand up. >> After being cuffed by special forces, Homeberg was taken to the hospital with a leg injury sustained during the gunfight. There, investigators began questioning him to understand why he opened fire on the task force. >> Hey, Carl. Me again. >> Hi, Carl. >> This is my partner, Agent Stanley McInness. Told you >> they broke into our home, but we had a warrant. It was legalized home invasion. >> We'd love to visit with you if you if you're willing. >> How you doing, Carl? >> I'm not doing too well. >> Yeah. Got some pain. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Absolutely. I can understand that what you've been through. Yeah. >> Yeah. We can get into that a little bit too, I think. So, >> we're going to get into that a little bit. >> Okay. >> Yeah. We'll tell you what we know. Okay. Um, are you willing to talk to us today? I know >> a little bit. Depends on what you're what you're going to talk about your money. >> Well, like I told you in the other room, I I did you remember talking to me earlier? No. >> Okay. So, we're from the state. We're from the Bureau of Criminal App. >> Okay. If you got anything to do with the governor of this state, our talks are done because the social lucid social services is a very corrupt outfit. >> I have nothing to do with them. Um, I'm not from Benton County. governors in that and I know for a fact that that is a very evil group and that's all right may have something to do this may not >> but I'm not going to lie there but they didn't have no reason for that >> and I didn't come out of my house I wasn't hurting anybody I never I never and they come in vandalize my I said please don't please don't do this I haven't intend to do this don't make don't do this to me please I plead with them I begged them and they said we're going to do what we're going to do we don't care if you think you have the right to be in your house or not. >> Can you tell me about your encounter with them this morning? Like what was said? >> They came banged me on the door and they said there they have a warrant and they're coming in. I said, "Please don't come in. There's no reason for you to be here. There's nothing to you don't have to be here. I mean, there's no reason. You can't possibly have a warrant for me doing something of kicking my door with weapons." And they they may shot first. I know they shot first because I didn't I didn't shoot until they shot. >> Tell me more about that. >> What? >> They shot first >> always. I would not pull I would not shoot any at anything that wasn't threatening my life. I would never do that. I believe in God and I believe in what God represents and all please I'm not I'm not I don't go to church or anything but God talked to me a while back and he told me don't you worry about anybody in your backyard. Don't worry about them. I'll take care of them. You don't have to worry about anything like that. And I made a deal I would do anything anybody in my property. But I said I was going to do that since they bust through my door. If they bust through my door I've never given them a reason to do that. I have not robbed anybody. I have not threatened anybody. I've not stolen anything from anybody. There's no reason for them to take my daughter. >> In other words, Carl never created a victim. The state on the other hand did create a victim by invading this man's home. And think about the evil of the judge. The judge is actually when he signed off on that warrant, and by the way, no warrant shall issue but upon probable cause that what? That a crime has been committed. specifically describing the places to be searched or the persons or things to be seized. It's got to be specific that there has been a crime, a probable cause that a crime has been committed. If this guy actually committed no crime, then the judge committed a crime cuz he put Carl's life in jeopardy and he put every one of these cops lives into jeopardy cuz the judge isn't going to be breaking down that door. The judge isn't going to be in the line of fire if somebody decides to defend themselves. The cops will be though, Carl will be. So now you got the judge signing off basically not just a warrant, but a death warrant in case somebody decides to take a stand and go, you know what, that's enough. You're not coming into my house. This ain't going to I'm not going to be easy pickings and I am going to go down. Patrick Henry even said, "Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect anyone who comes near that precious jewel. Nothing will preserve it but downright force. And when you give up that force, you are ruined. Carl used that force that Patrick Henry was talking about. And the people who came near that precious jewel of liberty were the law enforcement officers that had or they said said they had a warrant from the judge. So the judge violated individual rights and the cops violated individual rights. And now we got lives hanging in the balance. law enforcement lives and innocent lives through the signature of a judge. >> What I do to my personal self is not anybody's concern. As far as I as far as I know, that's none nobody's business. >> After they they kicked the door open and you're telling them like I >> I begged them. I pleaded with them and then they they they could get the door open right away. So then they they started shooting and I shot back. >> What did you shoot back with? >> Couple couple different just one medical. >> Do you remember what caliber it was or what? >> 243. >> 23. Okay. >> Did I No. Can I ask you a question? Yeah. Did I hurt anybody? Did I kill anybody? I want to know it's just a person. >> You didn't kill anybody. >> Thank you. >> My intention to not kill anybody. I don't want I didn't want to have this competition there. There was no reason for it. If they say there was they got people lying and they made the I mean that's just plain and simple. They got people lying and they made up. >> So usually you kind of said that you do what you do in your own body is is is your choice. >> So is like would they be there for a drugrelated crime? >> Who the cops? Did they come here today for a drug related crime? >> I have no idea what the hell they they just said they had warrant. They take my door and had when they come with two two person. >> That's as stupid as saying, "Were they there for a rose petal related crime? Were they there for a burrito related crime? Were they there for a cigarette related crime? Were they there for an alcohol related crime? What are you talking about? Just because it's illegal doesn't mean it's unconstitutional or immoral. armed armed, you know, motor armed vehicles. They're not there. They're not there to arrest you. They're there to do whatever they want to do. That's that that's what this you had you had 24 cops coming into the house where there's two people at what what crime were we possibly committing that they have to explain that. >> Who are you there with? I'm sorry. >> My wife 43 45 years something like >> 45 years. >> 79 is when I got married. >> Congratulations. Did you hear these cops knocking on the door? Yeah, I heard a knocking and they woke me up. Obviously, my dad said, "No, no, no. I saw I saw I saw do it." I said, "No, don't don't come in here. Please don't please don't come in here. I don't want I don't want to have to do anything. Don't do that. Don't break in my door. You have no reason for that. I haven't done anything for you to break my door." >> Were they saying anything to you? >> Yeah, we're coming in and they smashed the front door and I was in the bedroom with the door lock and I kept pleading with them not to come, not to try to break into my bedroom. They said they're breaking in. They're breaking in. They started hammering the door and they started shooting. >> Then you returned you shot back. Do >> you remember how many times you shot? >> I No, I I don't know. I didn't count shots at this. I did. I was scared for my life. I was scared for my life. That's what you said. >> If somebody kicks your door and they come and they come in, they start trying to kick in another door and they got they're fully armed and they're shooting. What will you do? Did you try to shoot you or I mean, come on. This is >> I'm just trying to understand the whole scene. That's what I'm asking you. If you know how many times you shot >> trying you trying to you're trying to trying to pretend to say that I knew exactly what I was doing. This was not a plan thing or anything like that? >> No, nothing like that. >> I didn't expect these people to do that. >> But there's no reason for him to do it. There's no reason in the world for them to be there at my house and kick the doors in. I've done nothing to deserve that. >> What made you think that they shot first? >> Because they shot first. I All I know is when >> Did you hear something or did you see something? >> Yeah. When when the wood start when wood started holes through the middle of the door on the they were shooting at me. >> Okay. >> I got hit before I shot anything. >> And where did you get >> I don't know who shot first, but that's kind of irrelevant. Men with guns are standing at the door of your bedroom yelling commands at you. you just woke up or you're laying in bed or whatever, there are men with guns threatening your life inside your house. Who cares who shot first? Are you going to give the asalent a chance to fire off a round and let it go through your heart or are you going to fight back? >> Hit the foot. >> The foot. Okay. And you believe that was from gunfire. From both >> I know it is. There's a chuck leg in my foot. I know it's from gunfire. >> There's an injury on your leg. I believe >> that's from the dog biting. Okay. >> He attacked dog when I was on the ground laying on the ground. They shot me with the bean bag and then they I had the dog attack me when I was on the ground. >> What happened to your ribs? What happened? >> They're broken back right by my kidney. >> Did that happen today? >> Yes. That's when they shot the bean bag after me when I was totally weaponless. Totally weaponless. Just pairs on it. They they got a top half. No guns, nothing that bad. No threatening. I turned I turned my back to him. They shake the dog on me and they shot me in the back. >> Did you buy those firearms personally? >> Some of them >> from the from the store. >> Some of them were given to me. No, I don't think I bought anything from the store. Some of them are here. >> I'm just trying to determine. Did you get your rights restored or can you help? >> Yes, I have my rights restored. >> So, you can possess firearms? >> Yes, I can possess my firearms because I've never had any violent crimes. I've never had I've never had any. >> But it doesn't have to be violent. You know, >> I was never I was never busted with both of them together. However you want to make it, you know, they were supposed to expunge it the first time after I got done by probation. They were supposed to expunge it the second time and they hit. So, the third time I finally got an attorney, they actually did his job. >> Where did Where was the rifle at that you grabbed? >> Where was it? >> Yeah. Wait, anybody say my head over there? >> I'm just wondering like where where you were at in the room when all this happened? Like do you actually see them come through the door or do they shoot before they come through the door >> and didn't? >> Yeah, >> I believe they shot first. I'm pretty 100% sure. >> You think the door was shut when they shot? >> When I didn't shoot till I thought I got shot. >> I know. Yep. And I I I totally believe that. I'm just wondering if the door was completely as loud as I could not not have to do anything. Don't just wait. You know, you can stay outside. come out and talk to you. You never want to come through my house. You get with any kind of basis of any kind of any real that I can think of because I know that I have not personally told anybody that you think it was illegal that could possibly have ever done to happen. >> Do you have any questions for us? We've asked a lot of questions. >> And even if he did sell something illegal, it's the cop's job to uphold, protect, and defend his constitutional rights. So if the state makes something illegal, but it's not illegal in the constitution, he has every right to engage in whatever activity as long as he's not creating victims. >> That doesn't matter to ask you a question. Okay. How'd you get to winner? >> That I don't know. >> Like I told you at the beginning, I'm not going to lie to you, but I don't know the answers to everything. And those are things that >> So you're grilling me, but you don't grill them up. Yeah. >> You don't know that, Carl. You don't know what our day has been like. You have no idea who else I've talked to, who else my partner has talked to. >> He told me he didn't know what anything factor. >> You don't know what our day has been like, says the representative of a department who violated this guy's rights in the most basic, heinous way you could. But you don't know what my day has been like. >> You know anything about that? >> I didn't say I didn't talk to him. >> You said he didn't. >> I said I haven't seen the warrants. >> You said Oh, okay. She not sheard anything like >> you've come in to investigate, but you didn't do any rudimentary homework and find out what the warrant was about. Why these people invaded this guy's home? Why they were armed and pointing guns at an innocent homeowner? You didn't even look at that. When you pull the file, isn't the first thing you want to do is go, "Okay, let me see the warrant. Let me see the the springboard from which you acted went to this guy's house and you thought it was important enough to break down this guy's door. Let me see the warrant. That's at the very least that is sloppy investigative work. That is no investigative work. >> Tried to you tried you shot and tried to kill police officers. How does that make you feel? >> Hey, they tried to shoot me and kill me. >> But I'm asking you the question now. Then I'll ask them the same question. >> You tried to shoot our home invaders. They were they were jeopardizing your life and they should be allowed to do that in safety. You put them in harm's way when they came into your living room with guns. >> They feel really bad. I don't think I should have to do that. I don't think anybody has the right to take my door and come in my house when I haven't done anything to deserve that. If I could cause bodily harm, somebody did something bad to somebody like rob them or something, which I haven't done to anybody. I have never caused body harm to anybody. I've never done anything bad to anybody. I don't bother with children. I don't I don't do anything I don't intentionally do anything that's wrong. I shouldn't have to pull a gun in my house ever. But I did not go outside and have them chase me into my house. They came to my house without due without due reason and kick my door. And >> that is common sense and that is the American spirit. I've got every right to be safe and secure in my person's houses papers and effects. Says the Fourth Amendment. You're supposed to be protecting those rights. And you turn around and become the ones who violate the rights you're supposed to be protecting. And you expect me not to defend my house and you're treating me as though I was the aggressor? >> Expect me. I didn't do that. >> And you thought that gave you the right to kill them. >> But if they break in break in my doors armed for no reason. Yeah. I think I have the right to defend myself in my house. I do believe that I have that right. >> So when a police officer comes to you with a search warrant, he comes to me with a search warrant by himself. By himself or with another cop, that's fine. I'll let him come to my house. No problem. where you show up with an armored personal carrier with 35 cops and there's two people in the house and you're heavily armed. You got a 50 cal machine gun on you. Come on now. Come on now. I'm not See, now you're disingusing this with me. The thing you're trying to do is justify the cops, but they didn't. You can't tell me they had a reason that there was legit for that. >> I don't know. I'm just trying to get your point of view on things. >> My point of view that's wrong for them to display that kind of power to anybody. I mean, there's no need to if you're doing your job, you come up to my house, you're not going to go, say, "Hey, search." >> There was an armored vehicle there when you came outside later, but it wasn't there initially. I don't care how it works because I didn't see that. What did I talk about? >> It doesn't matter if there was an armored personnel carrier. It doesn't matter if they had an Apache helicopter hovering outside. The point is your armed men came into my house and threatened my life and I defended myself. >> My house got my door got kicked in and I was getting shot at. I defended myself and then you're going to say that I'm the bad guy. Fine. Say that I'm the bad guy because that's what you're going to do anyways. You're not going to stick up for me. You lied to me. You said you would. and you me trying to get to the bottom of this. He was trying to see how he can hang me the best way. This is real really what you're going to do. And personally, I I wish they would have killed me. I wish God they would have killed me because then that way I wouldn't have any of this to deal with. But now I got to deal with this the rest of my life. I'm going to be in prison because of this. And I didn't kill anybody. And I didn't do anything to deserve to have my daughters for. This is wrong. I don't care how you look at it. It's wrong for you guys to do that to people. >> I respect your point of view. >> No, he's got a piece of >> In the end, five members of the task force were left injured. Two deputies survived only because their bulletproof vests stopped the rounds, while the other sustained wounds that were ultimately non-life-threatening. When investigators searched Homeberg's home, they uncovered firearms and methamphetamine along with paraphernalia used for packaging and selling drugs. >> So, what? Where's the victim? Who's his victim? Bring out the victim. Who's Carl's victim? >> Evidence that highlighted the violent risks the task force faced that morning. Altogether, Holberg was charged with 16 felonies. Seven counts of attempted murder of a peace officer, seven counts of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon along with firearm and drugrelated offenses. Holberg was convicted of all charges filed against him, and his sentencing is scheduled for October 31st in Benton County Court. He faces 30 years in prison for each first-degree assault charge and 20 years for each charge of attempted first-degree murder. >> So, once again, the victim goes to jail and the home invaders walk away scot-free.
