y what's going on so today we got a video from a matter of crime and the title of the video is Dollar General employee arrested for stealing $8,000 in snacks that's crazy 8,000 in snacks come on now that's that's that's crazy man um we had an employee that but things come out of the store okay about $1,000 worth and is this her yeah okay on March 4th 2022 officers in Florida responded to a local Dollar General where an employee was accused of stealing over $1,000 worth of food and various other items how youall doing hi you know what manager called I'm the manager okay you're the one who called yes what's going on when the officer arrived the manager would explain how the scheme worked and how the employee was able to steal thousands of dollars in various snack and food items from the store and is this her yeah okay so is there a l prevention person we need to talk to I have I can call her do you both have IDs I do my room damn that that build is crazy I ain't going to lie hello hey how you doing good how are you good what's going on um if you want to just hang out for a second you want to have a seat or do whatever trying to figure out what's going on she's smoking another cigarette God dang okay you uh you got all the information from her yeah from her and her now talk to you so that was the LA prevention manager basically I hadn't got the manager's statement but apparently she already wrote a statement to her and so she all happened yesterday it's just one instance over the span of 4 hours yesterday the employee allowed her ant the employees ant to basically load up an entire carts of whatever I mean over $1,000 for the stuff and she would scan like one or two things she would the employee would yeah the employee would SC yeah the the employee would scan one or two things she wants press charges so they're best going to go if we they don't know the aunt's name and the employee apparently wouldn't tell her so um but yeah so that's the case but apparently you want me to I'll go inside with the manager get I need the surveillance video and if they can give us an idea of what all was taken we need a receipt yeah let me go she should have all that go ahead and have all that ready and I'll go in there with her get all that go to and talk to her real quick okay but apparently she already admitted everything on their written statement so that's fine all right sh right I'm going to read you something and ask you a few questions you have the right to remain silent anything you say Canon will be used against you in a court of law you have the right to talk to a lawyer have him or her present with you while you're being questioned cannot afford to hire a lawyer one will be appointed to represent you before any questioning if you wish to speak to me about this incident that's [Music] fine yeah cuz it's kind of a tricky situation that's the statement she wrote with her aunt so I mean her knowingly scanning and allowing her to steal that's a criminal offense in itself but well about 15 minutes ago the ladies who were the last ones to come through with stuff came back in and their cards are still sitting over there when they realized I wouldn't let her come out and ring them okay um the only I have pictures of the transaction from the register because it wouldn't let me reprint them okay so that mean she was probably letting multiple people uh get away with the with the swipey swipey you know I mean get away with groceries or whatever because if if there was two other people that came through or whatever but they know what's that you know that girl ain't working to register then that clearly means like okay let me spin out of here man cuz she not working today you know she she caught up you know what I mean so we can't get no food or whatever but yeah I don't know people think like it's tough because a lot of people steal like Walmarts targets all the big stores like that right and Dollar General it is a big store like it's a big name brand store but a lot of the times their their systems aren't in place to really like catch a lot of things that's why a lot of stuff be happening you know there and stuff but they they did a pretty decent job of actually catching this so this is what she ran up it must have been really obvious that's what she gave away and I can show you on the big camera too and then she rang up a drink and that's the cart he pushed out and the only thing she rang up was the drink the drink yeah that's the actual receipt for the that's too much that's on the Dr drive too much you doing too much this is all on the drum Drive yes so I can take this right yes cool um she told me to have it all over so yeah that makes everything little easier hey I'm just going to put my stuff and then and the employees Amy ranking and that's when she signed it so and she put her employee number I didn't um I don't know if you need the original or the copy I was just told to make a copy of it and then these are like when I went through and watched the video I didn't put all of this on there cuz it wouldn't fit but what is oh okay this is and this is the list of stuff I could see in the cards that got taken can you do did you make copies of all those no not yet you make copies of all that front and back if you would you will be placed under arrest for Grand retail the um tell me what's going like you're being accused of UND scanning and allowing your aunt to walk out oh come on stop crying we don't want to hear this you know how many different felonies you can get from this it's organized retail theft basically is what it is whether it was your idea or not you went along with it did you get dropped off here or is your vehicle in my vehicle's here okay hey um I'm getting ready to go to jail can you have someone come get it because I let somebody walk out of here with stuff yesterday yeah I don't know so I will let you know when I can get a bondon hearing or whatever no you'll have a bond tonight set by me he said I'll have a bond setting set tonight I'm not sure how much it was where's your keys at for your vehicle are you able to have someone come get it cuz obviously you're not going to be allowed back on this property just going to call my aunt shall no okay oh smart girl do you have a phone number for Shelly I don't have anything for her she made it very secretive so I guess this is why where you going I'm going to my and stuff and put in my car is it inside okay we'll have that come out just finish cigarette do I need to take my ID with me um not necessarily um I would take your cell phone with you so you can get phone numbers out of it um and then I'll just put my cigarettes and my keys and everything in my or I have your information so you don't necessarily need your ID um it wouldn't hurt to take your wallet and phone with you but that's really your choice and I'll leave my rooming and do I need to take earrings and everything out or you will be made to at the jail yeah is it just your person side I believe so yes so she took eight shopping carts all together in the hour it was eight shopping CS full Li Stu where did ,000 number come from that's it was probably over that amount because there were coats full of things that we couldn't even see what was in them um so she's estimating you didn't happen to get her on video writing the statement did you yeah she is on video writing the statement yeah I can add that to that yeah it would do that that would just be a little icing on the cake so to speak and uh what I'll do is I'll just take the copied version of [Applause] everything are the the receipts you have are on here you said or what you um well I have the beginning like where she scanned one thing and then gave them their copy of the receipt and they walked out with two CS for ourselves okay yeah a lot of times they uh they actually don't like when they because they write the employer makes them write a statement or whatever of what happened or tries to get them to write a statement but a lot of times the cops don't really use that statement just because they weren't mirandized or it wasn't a statement to them but if they got him if they got him on camera writing the statement for the employee then they could you know it it holds a little bit more weight than if they just showed up and oh we got a statement well we don't really know if she wrote that we don't know like what she forced to write that like you know what I mean like it's a lot it's a great area there that's on there um all the ones that I had time to put on there are on there so okay if you guys need anything else I can we can do it all from here we don't actually have to wait for them to send it to us which is kind of nice yeah this is a good starting point right here so how long has she been working here at this store only a couple months well not even a month she came from the other Anthony store so the way she did it I have a feeling that this is not the first time you sure and she wouldn't give yall her she wouldn't give yall her aunt's name I don't it like her mom look like her mom and they were driving a red van cuz you can kind of see it off to the side cuz she walks out to it and were yall able to get yall have outside cameras no but you can see the van in the corner yeah I was just wondering if you were able to get a tag if it was going to be a if I can get a tag number from the video but probably not from that angle you can only see the side of it that would probably help us identify at least identify the aunt or Mom or whoever it is you know there's and then just what I need from you is going to be hey uh on this day yesterday um or this morning this morning when you saw the video or whatever just say hey on video I saw our employee her name um false ringing okay and then mention you know what you saw you you watched the video you saw the the lady putting whatever you saw the lady putting stuff in the basket a male getting it out the two black females like I said I don't need all the details of what was stolen cuz I have all that right here um I have a witness statement for him I'm actually going okay yeah that I'm actually going to give you just come outside with me so we'll get your squared away excuse me sorry she going to be the talk of the store the whole day Boy come out do a witness statement for she's doing you got all that where's her person will you grab my shoes please whose shoes are is mine my work shoes okay that's slide oh okay get the keys for a car and lock everything up you said you have a family member that's going to come get your car where you wants to leave your keys I'll just move the door unlock you sure probably not the greatest idea least your feet aren't sweating now look in your first make sure you got no weapons walk which car is yours it's a universal precaution I got to take I do you have any money to bond yourself out of jail or anything no then you can leave it in here if you want to take your ID with you you can I'll bring your ID that in your cell phone'll be good to go I do have fake teeth am I going have to leave those with you guys too that's I have no idea you got your cell phone yeah take that let's go over here and have a seat in my car while we get finished doing everything and get this going you have anything everything like you said 750 or less it's misdemeanor I'm watching I guess so how how do they know I guess they followed around the store watch watch well they got video cameras I mean all over all over the place so you know they they invest big money into that kind of thing and before they call us they do their due diligence Etc are they saying this is the only C do they suspect other uh right now this is all this is all they're saying and that's all she said this is the first and only time um so until we know otherwise yeah we're just treating this like a isolated ordeal so the woman was given a few complimentary nights in jail according to court records the scheme was bigger than what officers expected the previous store had a similar loss totaling just over $8,000 where the employee
