The impact sent all four occupants of the Nissan to the hospital. One of those victims, 23-year-old Armoni Kimble, a mother of two, remained on life support for several days before her family made the heartbreaking decision to let her go. Three other victims suffered injuries, including Zoe Kemp, who was left unable to walk and continues rehabilitation while trying to regain her motor skills. During a court hearing, members of the victims' families delivered emotional statements directly to the judge. >> Right now, Zoe is in rehab. Um, she's trying to get back her motor um skills far as you moving her hands. Right now, she can't move her legs. She's bound to a wheelchair or the bed. You knew you did this She did this accident and couldn't even turn herself in give giving caring less for anybody's life that she affected. >> Slaughter was ultimately arrested and >> Yeah, I think running really made her look bad. Like that running Oh, man. That definitely left a bad taste in people's mouths. >> giving caring less for anybody's life that she affected. >> Slaughter was ultimately arrested and charged with 14 crimes, including vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a crash involving death, leaving the scene of a crash causing serious bodily injury, reckless driving, and driving with a suspended driver's license causing death. After hearing the evidence and the victim impact statements, the judge ordered Slaughter to remain in custody pending trial. The court concluded that detention was necessary both to protect the community and to ensure that she would appear for future court proceedings. A major factor in that decision was Slaughter's driving history. Records show her license had been suspended since 2021 and that she had prior convictions for driving with a suspended license, driving under the influence, fleeing law enforcement, and reckless driving in 2023. >> Wow. >> [music]
