I don't want to have a manhunt going on out here. How How stupid do you think we are? This ain't my first rodeo. I don't appreciate the runaround and being lied to and stuff. It's in covert mode. So, if he wants to talk to me, I believe I'm covered then. Welcome back to the lackluster channel. On May 21st of 2022, at around 500 a.m., a loud boom was heard from Elmon Memorial Park. When nearby residents investigated, they found fence posts scattered through the street. A tree laid ripped from the cemetery grounds and a heavily damaged sedan was left vacant. About 10 minutes later, officers found Christopher Bridget walking nearby. The officers found it odd for a man to be walking around at 5:00 a.m. and stopped to speak with him. The body cam footage for the first hour of the investigation isn't currently available, but eventually a lieutenant arrives on scene to question Bridget after finding that the man is an officer for the Buffalo Police Department. I was asleep. Okay. I don't know what happened. Where you coming from? I was asleep in the car. So, I don't really know honestly. Where was the last time you were at when before you? Few hours ago, honestly. I don't even remember. Was in the drive. I was knocked out. Okay. But where were you where were you coming from before? I passed out before real life. So, I don't really know. Who were you with tonight? A couple friends and whatnot. co-workers or No, no, no co-workers, just friends. How long you been over? How long you been an officer? About 6 years. 6 years. Who's your lieutenant? A couple lieutenants. What's that? I have I have a few. What district you working in? I'm working a now. A Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Who's the main? Who's a your main supervisor you talk to? Uh, Lieutenant Denner. Dinner. Danner. Danner. Yes. Okay. You said there's a couple other lieutenants over there. I know a few people. Yeah. Okay. Do you understand why we're talking to you this way out here? 100%. Yeah. Like this day and age. That's one thing. You get pulled over or something like that. There's an accident here. I don't know. You saying there's someone else driving the car. Now I'm concerned because you have some injuries that somebody else is out there injured and I don't know where they're at. Oh, I got I completely understand, but like nobody's injure other than me already. Officer Bridget isn't making much sense. He claims he doesn't know where he was prior to the accident, that he fell asleep prior to leaving the unknown place and that his cousin was driving the vehicle. If that is true, the investigating officer now needs to find the person who was driving to ensure they're okay and to hold them responsible for the damage to the cemetery. So, who who was it that was driving the car then? It was my cousin. Your cousin? Yeah. Where's he at right now? I haven't talked to him, but I don't know. Okay. I don't want to have a manhunt going on out here trying to look for somebody that's injured. No, no, no. You know what I'm saying? You You got to put yourself in somebody else's shoes now. 100% understand. So you're you're 100% that somebody else was in that car with you and it wasn't just you. Million% million. Where do you live at? So I don't like I don't even know what you got what you'd be doing out up this way cuz this is way I was just literally sleeping in the car honestly. Where's your cousin live? My cousin lives in like you you got to see where your stuff's not making a lot of sense to me. I understand. understand you being in the same position that we're in. Mhm. You got to understand we're having a conversation. I mean, the last thing you can be doing is not telling the truth because you will never do your job ever again. I I promise you, you will go in front of a jur in front of a jury or whatever going on trial with some other case you had. Mhm. And the defense attorney will tear you apart and you'll you'll never be able to testify in court again. I understand that. The investigating officer is referring to what's called a giglio or Brady list, which is a list compiled by a prosecutor's office or police department containing the names of law enforcement officers who have had sustained incidents of untruthfulness, criminal convictions, cander issues, or some other type of issue placing their credibility into question. An officer's placement on such a list isn't necessarily a career-ending situation, but it would limit what types of promotions and duties they can be assigned to. For example, no one wants a homicide detective on the stand that has several provable instances of lying as even the worst defense attorneys would be able to impeach the testimony of a known liar. I mean, you're talking about your job, your livelihood, all that stuff. Mhm. You got kids at all? Yeah. Okay. So, you don't understand why you telling us the wrong thing here. It's not going to be I'm I'm a straight up person. [Applause] I got a ride right here. Okay. Well, the problem is you tell me that somebody else is driving the car and somebody else is in the car. I'm not going to be doing my job unless I make sure that whoever that person is is safe and sound. Okay. Okay. Did you provide all that information to my officers of of who your cousin is and who was in that car with you? Yes, I did. Yes. Yes. Did we verify that that is a correct person and information? What's that? All I got was Michael. Okay. I need a first name, a last name, a phone number, an address. Okay. Michael address. Officer Bridget now gives the officers false information about his alleged cousin that crashed the vehicle before they fled the scene. But the lieutenant felt uneasy about Officer Bridget's testimony and announces his plan to try to catch Bridget in a lie. Hang to him tight here. I'm going to have to see if we can contact this person and lock him into a lie. Yes. The officers then try to use the information officer Bridget provided to find his alleged cousin and realized that the address he provided was associated with his vehicle and that they shared the same birthday. Same birthday like same birthday just different year. Like how how stupid do you think we are? None of the information for the alleged cousin mystery ghost driver comes back. I don't like jamming people up, but he's being stupid. I don't know what to do. Like if you don't want to say nothing, don't say nothing at all. Don't lie to me. You know, he's saying he's just sleeping when I came up on him. Hey, what are you doing? I was walking around. Mhm. Where you from? Walk. He was like, "Yeah, trying to tell me cop." I wonder if I wonder if he was at uh Show Girls or something that night. The officers start to wonder if Bridget was at NY Showgirls, a strip club in the area that stays open till 4:00 a.m. and serves alcohol. Finally, the lieutenant on scene is fed up with the lies and confronts Bridget. Chris, I I don't appreciate like this ain't my first rodeo. I've been doing this job a long time, longer than you have. Okay. I don't appreciate the runaround and being lied to and stuff. you obviously the name and stuff you gave us isn't correct. You didn't give us the correct name. We can't find that person in our system. And I also asked you to give us a phone number. Again, you told me that's a bad accident. You have injuries. You're telling me somebody else is driving a car out here. For all I know, they're lying in the cemetery dead right now. I Yeah, I don't know. So nobody's [Music] So where is this phantom person that that he says driving the car now? It's just you out here now. You know what I'm saying? Like where is this other person that you say is driving the car? They're not here. Doesn't you say? Yeah. He's fine. You call him? What do you mean he's f? I thought you said you hadn't talked to him. No, this is what I'm saying. I'm saying I was sleeping the car. What I'm saying? I just I don't appreciate like listen I got to call him if you want me to I would like you to provide his correct information. Okay, I'll call the lieutenant's confrontation doesn't phase officer Bridget and he dials a number to call the alleged cousin. I'm sorry, but the person you called is a policeman. Bridget claims his phantom cousin isn't up this early, though he allegedly just crashed a vehicle through a cemetery gate just an hour earlier and fled the scene. Well, how come we plug his name? First of all, you have the same birthday. And what did you tell him your birthday was? His birthday. [Music] Do you have the same birthday? No, we have the same birth date, but not the year. Michael that and Michael W. Washington has a driver's license in New York State. No, I've never said that. No, he was born a year before. So, where is he from? So I would think at some point in his 30 some odd years of existence, he would have some kind of contact with having a license, having a contact with police for something. [Music] What's his phone number? Officer Bridget provides a phone number of the phantom cousin. Well, yeah, I have an issue cuz your car's done some damage. Okay. And I I really don't believe that there was anybody else in this car with you. Okay. I just Yeah. I need I need you to hang around here until I figure out what exactly I want to do. You say anything to ask me or is it problem or anything like that? Yeah. I mean, like I said, it's a problem. Okay. because there's damage. Okay. And you didn't stay with the vehicle. It's your vehicle. Did you do anything for me? Yeah. I just need you to hang tight here for a minute until I kind of figure out where I'm going. Okay. But I can promise you. Can we talk? What's that? Talk. Do you want to talk? Yeah. Let's talk. Let's talk. Okay. You tell me what's up. [Applause] Can we talk? Most people when viewing this section would likely assume that officer Bridget is suggesting a favor from his blue line buddies. Instead, he is met with silence for now. [Applause] know from me. I I just need to know who was in this car and I need to account for everybody and kind of figure cuz there's damage being done to property and someone's responsible for it. Gotcha. Gotcha. I mean, honestly, if you want to just like plug in my insurance, that's fine. Me, you know, do that. I'm fine with that. No problem. [Applause] Okay. [Applause] Hang hang tight here. Right. The officers then discuss passing the incident on to officer Bridget's department instead of doing their jobs and continuing the DUI, fleeing the scene and obstruction investigation. pass everything along to their department, our department, however anyone sees fit. I feel like you did your job tonight, right? You investigated it. We got pictures. We got everything. If you would have investigated no different than anything, you can't hook the guy. I mean, there's whether or not you want more. He's not biting. Just say he appears pass. [Music] Yeah, that's that's not the way it works anymore. You know what I'm saying? I know what he means. Yeah, it's not one-on-one, but I feel like you covered your day. I mean, like I said, we investigated it fully. We've got everything covered on our end. If the department wants to pursue it and their department wants to pursue it, that's on them. We got everything. The trout even left a video card at this at the snow. So, if we've got any video, I mean, that's on him. The lieutenant puts his body cam in covert mode where the camera will continue to record without giving an external indicator that it is recording. It's in covert mode. So if he wants to talk to me, I want your arm covered then. [Applause] [Music] All right. You want you want to have a conversation? Yeah. Yeah. No. What's going on? Okay. That's all I That's all I'm asking for. Yeah. So, what's going to happen right now is obviously we got to tow your car. Obviously, there's going to be an accident report here. Okay. There's nobody else I have to worry about in this car. No. No. Hell no. Never. Okay. Definitely 100%. All right. We'll obviously be in touch because like I said, you can't it's your car. You got to be responsible for your car. Don't make us go out look scouring the neighborhood looking for people. Do you know what I'm saying? Yeah. Does that make sense? 100% me. It was nobody else involved. Nobody honestly. Where Where are you going? I'm running, but then right back to my house. She's literally going back to sleep, bro. Officer Bridget finally admits that he was lying the whole time and that there is no one else involved. The lieutenant on scene eventually decides to let him leave after providing his insurance information. Despite causing $8,000 worth of damage, obstructing justice by lying about the situation and fleeing the scene of a somewhat significant accident. Officer Bridget has seen no disciplinary action for the incident that has been made public. In fact, the Tanowanda Police Department that investigated the accident didn't conduct any field sobriety tests, never asked Bridget to submit a chemical test, and even let their fellow officer off without a citation. But wait, there's more. Between 2017 and 2021, Bridget was the subject of six disciplinary complaints. He has been named in not one, but two fairly recent lawsuits. one from a car accident while on duty and another that is still ongoing for using excessive force during the arrest of a man that was filming the scene of an incident officer Bridget had responded to. Of course, Internal Affairs investigated and found no issues aside from those two lawsuits. Officer Bridget was shot outside of a nightclub while off duty in July of 2018. There's no real information available online that I've found as to why, but I did find that the shooting happened just a few weeks after his ex-wife was fired from her role as an officer at the same department. And during that same period of time, his brother-in-law was also shot, but succumbed to his injuries. None of these incidents seem related, but it sure does look like the past 5 or so years have been very terrible for Officer Bridget. Overall, I find it interesting to say the least who the state decides to hire and retain as employees. As with this footage, it is likely that officer Bridget's sworn testimony is completely worthless. I'd be surprised if this alone didn't cause his name to be placed on a Brady list. I'm sure there will be more to come from this incident. And you know, when I find more, I will be sure to let you know. Thanks for watching.
