A straightforward traffic stop, but the moment the officer approached, the passenger in the backseat couldn't seem to sit still. And when the officer asked the driver for a simple question, she reached into her center console and handed him the answer herself. >> Mhm, she reaching for something? >> I just like proof of insurance, please. Market Fresh, um I work at Amazon. >> Oh, at Amazon, okay. So, ma'am, you mind turning off the vehicle for me? Go and turn off the car and put the keys up on the dash, okay? >> Yeah, step on out. >> coming out. He's reaching around that a lot, not listening. Not only that, is there there's weed in the car, so everybody's got a car. So. Step on out, my man. Step out. Woah, right, buddy. We're a probable cause search vehicle. Get out of the car now, we're going to remove you out of the car. Get out. Where's your keys at, ma'am? Hand me your keys. Ma'am, hand me your keys. Ma'am, hand Hand me those keys, please. >> Yo, don't touch me. Don't touch me. >> Put your hands behind your back. You're being detained. Ma'am, stay in the vehicle. Get back in the car now. Stay Get in the vehicle. You're being detained. Ma'am, come back here. Come back here. Come back Ma'am, stay where you're at, okay? You're surprised, okay? Okay. Yeah, you grab this arm. Go ahead, sit Go and take a seat, okay? So, you understand why everybody's out of the car, right? I want to make sure you fully understand. One, he's reaching around a lot. I don't know what's in the vehicle, okay? Two, you guys have weed in the car. Come on back here. You guys have weed in the car. You can't have It has to be in a orderless proof container, sealed proof container from the dispensary, okay? So, there's probable cause to search your vehicle, okay? Obviously, I can smell it. I appreciate you being honest. I can work with you. Honesty goes a long way. But, him acting a fool like this, do you think that helps your case? Do you think that makes me want to cut you breaks? Right? So, that's where you're at cuz he's got a loud mouth and he doesn't listen. It's real simple. We we have a job to do here and when we ask you guys to do something and then we tell you to do something we expect you to do it. All right? >> Listen. You got to watch the company that you keep. You know what I'm saying? She was okay. She was doing a little reaching too though. I ain't going to lie. The best one so far was really the passenger. The not the guy but the girl passenger. You know everybody else kind of like you know whatever. But um yeah. You know you can always be detained in cuffs or out of cuffs. And it all depends on how you act. That's why this guy they had to they had to get him together. >> So stand here with this officer here. >> And I asked you what reason you want to say probable cause and this and that. Like bro, we just leave. Get out of here. >> Not the not the way he's being transported. >> How the is it being transported if he's >> Well see once we once we search the car we'll see. We'll see. >> Like what the y'all talking about? Y'all making big bull nothing. >> If you came out like 99% of the population comes out there'd be no issue. >> Bro, you grabbed me out. Stop capping. >> After we asked you enough times to come out. >> I asked you what was the reason and you guys said all because of the possession of smelling marijuana and >> We told you that you're reaching around and the car smells like weed. >> I was and I told him I was trying to help her find her >> It's not a negotiation though. >> I was trying to find her ID. >> negotiation. >> All right. So that's >> It's not do you sir would you like to come out? It's a lawful order. Step out. >> Y'all busy pulling over the wrong people. Go pull over drug dealers. Go pull over >> a drug dealer. >> I'll find one. You don't want to talk about it, huh? Go find one. You're worried about my criminal Go find a criminal. Y'all focus on regular normal people I stand. I got to go to work. Y'ALL LEAVE. THE REASON WHY I DON'T LIKE COPS. >> I don't think they have probable cause to be snooping around. >> I mean, like clothes, backpacks. >> Any container inside the vehicle gets searched. Any container. >> a container, though. >> Any container, any bag, any piece of clothing, anything in the car gets searched. >> need a paper stating that, gang. >> You don't need a paper. Just look up the state law. >> No, I need I need a law. I need You need to show me the law. Show me that. >> Just Google it. >> No, I'm not I can't Google it if I'm arrested. Show me Show me where the law is. >> Once Once we're done Once Once we're done, you won't be in handcuffs no more. You'll be free to go. You can look it up. >> All So, all these lights are working. You want to pull us over for a stop for the ti- for the >> I didn't stop you. >> for all that time you that you want to pull us over for a plate light. >> I'm sure Officer Chris will explain it to you. It's driving. >> Yeah, that's what you said, for a light from the plate. Right, that's real material you got. It's an IBC violation, right? >> And what does it matter? Does it affect anybody? >> It's an IBC violation. It's not illuminated. >> pulling over Stop trying to make up >> Man, that's the reason why you guys got stopped. It's not working. >> Right, bro. >> Well, in reality, it you know, it is a [ __ ] stop. But, they can stop you for it. So, it is what it is. That's why you got to make sure you on point. You got to make sure you on point. That's not the officer's fault. The officer can stop you for it. If the light is out for the license plate, the light is out. It is a fair stop. That's legal. Let's go, you know? Just like, you know, other little things like, um, you know, having the cases around the license plates and stuff like that. Uh, depending on where where you at, whatever, you're not supposed to have the Like, let's say you go buy a car from a car dealership, and you know how they give you them little plastic cases to like do their branding or whatever on the license plate, and you put them in there, and you screw Those, technically, you're not supposed to have. You know, you know how you got the air fresheners or whatever and you put them on the window or or on your you know, on your mirror there, your rear view mirror so you can see out the back and you put your your your you hang your little air freshener thing. Technically is no go. You know what I'm saying? No go. A lot of people that have tints, you know, they a lot of people that have tints when they have the tint in the front, a lot of tint places put the tint too far down and if you look on the side, there's a little dash line there and the tint, if you are going to have tint, it can only go it can't go past that little dash line that's there, but a lot of people have it a little bit below. They can get you for that. You know, it's a bunch of little things that people don't even think about that everyone kind of does, but they could get you they can hang you up on it, you know? So, it is what it is. It may seem like BS or or small to him, you know, I think it's it's small, you know, whatever, but they could still get you for it, you know? So, hey, it's fair game. But your attitude don't make it no better though. >> Perfect. Look at that, you just talked yourself into getting arrested. >> How am I getting arrested for? >> Wait, what happened? Wait, what he said? >> For not wanting to get out of the car. >> How am I getting arrested for? >> It's not working. Perfect. Look at that, you just talked yourself into getting arrested. >> How am I getting arrested for? >> For obstructing. >> For what am I obstructing? >> For not wanting to get out of the car when we asked you to. >> That's fair. >> You'll have a phone. You will get a phone call within 4 hours. You will get a phone call within 4 hours. The other side of the car. >> Listen. Follow instructions. >> Ain't nobody there. >> I got to lock your handcuffs so they don't tighten up on your hand. >> You got to tighten them. >> Lock them so they don't tighten up on you. >> Oh. >> I'm sure the transporting officer asked to search you one more time, so >> That's fine. >> You stay right here so he can pat you down. Glasses and AirPods. >> Let me get my phone. >> You'll get your phone. >> No, like right now before we leave cuz obviously you guys want to say obstruction. So, I got to get my lawyer. >> How many times How many How many times did we have to ask you to come out of the car? >> I'll get it to you when we get in the car. >> I heard you guys pull this dude before. >> Mm. That's the only reason you're here, so just stop talking. >> Yeah, I have I have a right to speak. What the [ __ ] you guys mean I have the right to talk? I COULD BE >> THAT'S WHY YOU'RE HERE, MAN. >> THAT doesn't mean you guys have that I have a right to talk. >> You will get your phone. >> Okay, then how am I going to talk to my lawyer? >> That's why I'm I'll get it I'll get it straight from the other side. >> So, what's on you? >> But how is it getting worse? >> It's a cop car now. >> Yeah, for talking. For freedom of rights. I can have my rights. >> In the end, Kimberly Soto Rulon was issued six citations and released. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. Possession. Driving without registration light. Mm. Obey traffic control signals. Okay. Disobey traffic control signals. Failure to notify state. Address change. Why they Carlos was charged with three counts of obstructing a police officer. One count. Okay. Let's see here. >> Two counts of failure to notify the Secretary of State of an address change. Carlos Mejia was arrested and charged with three counts of resisting or obstructing a peace officer. One for refusing to exit the vehicle, two for fighting officers while being placed in handcuffs, and released on pre-trial conditions. >> [music]
