I'm I'll take the cuffs off you. Okay. I just need to figure out what's going on. You can go and turn around and sit down on this curb. Okay. >> Okay. Just right there. >> I mean, I think that was a valid question. I mean, honestly, before she say anything, you know, I I think that was a valid question. Honestly, you know, if this is definitely someone that is um, you know, maybe her first time coming in contact with police or whatever the case may be, you know, I think she said it pretty polite. You know, she, "Well, since I'm being detained, could you advise me of my rights or whatever?" You know, I I mean, honestly, they don't have to tell you unless they're questioning you about, you know, about the incident or whatever. But still, I think she I think the lady came off pretty, you know, she wasn't about it. >> You understand why I'm doing what I'm doing, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Cuz it's me and then there's three of you and you guys are reported to be running from the store. >> And I don't know what we have quite yet. >> All right, ma'am. So you stole >> you didn't grab anything. >> It doesn't matter. You were there. >> A crime, right? So So those what else was taken from Burlington? >> Two sweatshirts. I don't know where all this stuff is. >> But this this still has cake on it. >> Yeah. So does the other one. >> So but this was in her possession. >> I'll have to check. I I'm pretty sure the only thing that she had was that bag. I don't know. >> All right. All right. Do me a favor. Stand up right there. Put your hands You're 19. >> Yeah. >> Is Burlington still open? >> I got to take it out of there. >> No, no, no, no, no. Stay here and sit down. You don't need to talk to her. >> Why can't I talk to her? >> Because I don't want you guys sorting stories out about who stole what. >> We already exchanged our stories to each other to each other. >> Who argue? >> I'm not arguing. >> Christina, come over here. >> I'm not arguing. Just hang out over here. >> Come on. I was giving you credit. I was giving you credit in the beginning. Now you starting to get a little antsy. You starting to get a little antsy. T You better tame it down, man. Act like you got some common sense. >> You give me my nail. That's cute. >> Yeah. And I told you I was going to hang on to it until we're done here. >> Put it in my pocket. >> Put your nail kit in your pocket. Not the scissors. My nailit >> that was in my hand. It's the scissors from our nail kit. >> How old are you? >> 19. >> All right. What's your name? >> Evelyn. >> Okay. >> So, take her over here, please. >> All right. Come over here. Stand up. Stand right here in front of my car. All right. Right here. All right. You can face me. Okay. All right. All right. I'm going to read you something real quick. Okay. All right. Do you understand? Okay. So, what did they find in your pocket? >> Your friends? >> See, that's when they read you your rights when they're about to question you about the incident. >> I'll figure it out. >> Wait, what? >> Okay. So, what's in that bag? >> I don't really know. You don't really know. So why are you taking something from a friend? They don't know. That looks kind of suspicious to me. You got some type of residue in there. There's a pipe. >> I don't know. >> Okay. >> So what do you think it was? >> I didn't ask any questions. I just They told me to hold it. I hold it. >> Which friend told you to do that? >> No. >> And not here. >> Okay. So you're carrying a random suspicious bag. >> I know. >> That they told you to carry for you without knowing what it is. >> Okay. When did they give you that? >> I don't know. It's been there like I don't know how many weeks. >> How many what? >> It's been like there for like four weeks. >> For 4 weeks. >> Okay. So, you have no idea what it is. They just told you to hold on to it for them. >> Okay. >> So, it comes back tested for narcotics, you're in trouble cuz you know narcotics, right? So, I would stop with and tell what the hell that is. >> They're find way another >> right. But now you're But you're 19 years old carrying around clearly some kind of narcotic. >> I can I don't know. I don't know. >> It doesn't matter. You're in possession of narcotics. You and I both know that's some kind of a legal substance. >> Even if you're saying it's your friends and she's telling you to hold it for you or he is telling you to hold it for you, you're you're in possession. So you're you're screwed basically. >> All right. >> Okay. >> You stole the clothes. So you have what's >> Okay. So you want that stole it for your girlfriend over there. >> I don't know which one. >> Okay. I think we have enough. She goes >> Okay. All right. Come with me. >> Have a seat. >> All right. This time you are being placed under arrest. Okay. >> Sit down. No. Right now you're you're being detained. Sit down. Do you want me to put you do you want me to put you in handcuffs or do you want to sit down? Because we're investigating a crime right now. >> Okay. But can I >> Do you want to go in cuffs? No. I just told you to sit down. I just told you to sit down. Turn around. >> Turn around. >> I'm nervous. Turn around. Turn around. >> I told you twice. We're going to let you sit down and hang out, but you don't want to do that. >> Sit down. I just told you to sit down. I'LL FIGURE IT OUT IN A SECOND. >> The >> Listen, we're trying to sort things out. >> So am I. I'm just asking questions. She's being aggressive as >> question. Okay. I'm just asking questions. I just reached on my scissors. >> The tone is what it is. What question do you have? >> That's her tone. She want me strong and I'm just telling her I'm just trying to ask questions. >> What's the question? >> Was I ever strong on you? No, it was her. >> Y'all talking about I'm trying to No. No. Now it's us. >> Do you have >> Oh my god. I think we got a I think we got another one that's brain dead, man. I feel bad because she started off on a good note with me, man. So, I was rooting for her. I'm like, okay. You know, she, you know, she came off all right. But now, no, man. All that's out the window. She's acting like a straight ass. >> Okay. No, no, no. It's me. Y'all been hard on me and I've been being calm. >> Okay. >> I just wanted to ask questions. We're not being hard on you. You're the suspect. >> I just been asking questions. I just want to ask questions. >> There's no need to yell, miss. I'm standing. >> Exactly. That's what I've been trying to say. No more reason for you to yell. >> Talking about you. >> Exactly. Cuz she know she was problems. >> Okay. Can I talk? Can I talk to the person that's like getting arrested before >> the other? No, not right now. Do you understand? Because you're both suspects in crime. We don't need you collaborating on what your story is. That's fine. Okay. But here's the thing. When I came around the corner, there's three of you, right? We don't know what's going on. We don't know what people have. So, tensions are high. >> Well, yeah. When I see 12 stop in front of me, obviously, I'm going to get scared. >> Can she let him talk? Can she shut up for two seconds? >> If there's cops stopping in front of me, obviously. >> Well, we didn't just stop. Listen, we didn't just stop. >> Yes, you did. You stopped in front of me, flashed flashlights on my face, and was like, "Don't run." >> Yeah. I started giving you lawful orders. Do you know why? Because you match the description of suspects that just committed a crime. That's why. Two females and one male dressed in a gray t-shirt and jeans. And I saw him earlier when I was driving through the parking lot. >> I didn't just like, "Hey, let's pick on these girls." >> Okay. That's all I wanted to ask questions. I didn't want to send in your girlfriend, but your female officer wanted to yell and start a freaking >> What are you guys doing out here right now? Where at? >> The Burlington. >> Just Burlington. Nowhere else. >> Oh, we also went to the Dollar Tree, but like No, we actually paid for the stuff there. like that. We just >> a receipt for it. >> No, we we pay like Apple cash like you know on the phone like that >> and they didn't give you a receipt or anything like that. >> Like we have >> Well, right now we're investigating all this. So, we're trying to figure it out. She's 19. >> We're all 19. >> Okay. >> How can you prove that you bought this stuff? >> Like you got like a Chase app or something? >> You didn't buy it. Okay. Where did you guys take it from? Our Burlington. >> The one right here. >> Yeah. It was it was it was him. >> What was that? >> It was We just walked out the cart and like we got our stuff out and we got our stuff and we asked him was like what the what's going on? She started running >> cuz you said you didn't pay for it. >> Well, obviously not. I didn't take it. >> Do you want me to put you on my car? >> You know what though? for all that rahrh that she was talking before. I thought she would be more like the other one and stand firm, right? The other one she taking it to the chin like and she she got, you know, stuff on her that's a bigger deal and she taking it on the chin like you know whatever. You know what I mean? She not ratting nobody out. This one over here, she popping off at the mouth. Pop pop pop. Right. And she over there quick. She over there like this. It was him. It was him. Yeah. It wasn't me. It was him. I didn't know. I didn't take anything. Cheddar cheese, man. Cheddar cheese. >> Huh? >> Okay. Come on. >> Sit for a sec. Okay. So, what happened? So, he took the two sweaters out of Burlington. >> Yeah. We were just trying >> and he started running. >> No, we were just trying to shop there and like um we just like um we came from Dollar Tree. So, we came from there. So, we already have our stuff from the car. >> So, we had like to burn, >> right? What you charge for? >> She had like parted ways and I thought he was going to go like some message or whatever, but he came back and he was like, "Let's go. Let's go. Let's go." like this. So, we left and the the alarm started going off and obviously like my like adrenaline started going like started going like I don't know what to do like so I just started going with him and I stopped. >> All right, put your foot in real quick. >> Oh, what's your >> This is the stuff that we recovered from two people. So 17546 or 162 that's a pre-tax total. Okay, but this is all your merchandise, right? All your tags. Okay. Very good. >> All right. All good. You guys have a good night. >> Good day, bro. >> Huh? >> Just tell I wasn't born yesterday or at night. >> No, you didn't. >> Evelyn came back with some shoes. She stuck them in the cart. >> She what? >> She put some shoes in the cart. >> This one? The cart? >> To be honest, bro. They told me to like put a hoodie on top to cover the shoes. I put >> Get the heck out of here. He's cheddar cheese, too. He's cheddar cheese. Nah. Now y'all all just going to jail. Y'all all got different stories, but the common denominator is that you guys took stuff. Yo man, y'all just telling all each other. The only one that was solid is the is the first one who's in actually more trouble than these than these ones, you know. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> So, you walked out of the store with the hoodie covering the shoes in the cart. >> Yes or no? >> I don't know. You don't know you guys. You walked out. >> Okay. Come over here. >> You don't know. >> It's over here from the car. All right. >> Find out. Okay. You want to get that telephone? >> Yeah. >> Back up right now. >> Told you many times. >> All right. I need so back up. >> You little sit down. >> Or not. >> Chris. Chris. Chris. >> All right. Give my identification. GIVE MY IDENTIFICATION. >> YOU'LL GET IT BACK. >> GIVE ME MY IDENTIFICATION. GET MY ID RIGHT NOW. >> BODY CAMERA. You're acting like a child. >> You're being recorded. >> Oh [ __ ] >> Oh [ __ ] Almost snapped her back. Got her ass together, boy. Damn. Yo, she's she got so many mood swings, man. It's like at one minute she's calm, the next she's I rateate, then she's calm again, ratting, and then she she's, you know, she's iate again. Like, it's like, what the heck is going on here? And then you get aggressive and you try to reach for the cop. Oh my goodness. He snap. Oh my god. She sp she slipped the desk. Boy, it's over with. >> YOU GET IT BACK. >> GET MY IDENTIFICATION. >> Get my ID RIGHT NOW. >> ON BODY CAMERA. You're acting like a child. You're being recorded. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Don't put your hands. >> You are not going to put your hand BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> OH MY GOD. >> YOU MADE A CHOICE. >> GET MY ID RIGHT NOW. >> BODY CAMERA. You're acting like a child. >> One more time. >> Don't ever stop. >> Put your HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. DON'T put your hand. >> No, you are not going to do this. Put your hand behind your back. >> YOU MADE A CHOICE. YOU MADE A CHOICE. Don't ever put your hands on your head. >> Send us another unit. >> Christina, stop. >> Face the wall. >> Stop. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> I WAS NOT DRIVING AWAY. WE WERE BACKING away from you. >> I asked you to back away. >> Don't ever put your hands on me. >> Exactly. I was literally trying to get a phone call to get your wallet, >> but you wouldn't let me. >> WHY RECORD THIS? >> You go. >> Let's go. >> Hey, get him. Watch him. Watch him. >> Don't ever put your hands on me again. >> Your body wasn't even on you. Just turn it on. >> Okay. >> Get me the out of here. >> No. SHUT THE UP BECAUSE I TOLD YOU. >> With Christina now sitting in the back of a patrol car. Let's quickly rewind and see how things got to this point. It all started with those two Burlington hoodies. Both still carrying security tags. The problem, the store hadn't actually reported anything stolen, and officers couldn't review the security footage that night. To make things even messier, all three 19-year-olds were basically pointing the finger at somebody else. Eventually, Evelyn was arrested after officers found a bag containing a glass pipe and a suspected narcotic in her pocket. Christina and Alex, they were free to go. So, you'd think Christina would just leave, right? Instead, she followed the patrol car and started demanding her wallet. Officers repeatedly told her to back away, but she didn't. Then, she grabbed an officer's wrist, and when they tried to handcuff her, she kept pulling her arms away, and that's what actually led to the charges. Christina Koreah, 19, of Warrenville, was charged with two misdemeanors under Illinois law. Battery for making physical contact with an officer and resisting a peace officer. Evelyn Garcia, 19, of West Chicago, was taken into custody for possession of suspected controlled substance pending lab result. >> Yeah, you guys switched the the two people. But uh yeah, anyways, let's continue. >> Alex Garcia was released at the scene. on Friday. >> So the guy was the only smart one, huh? Damn. He he Damn, that was crazy because a by, you know, a regular civilian outside, he's the one that called it in. So Burlington didn't even catch it yet. They didn't even catch it at all. You know, they was they was slick. Yo, he got her together. Boy, did you hear the Oh my goodness. Did you hear it? We got to do it one more time. Just just one more time, man. Golly, this was crazy. >> Body camera. You're acting like a child. You're being recorded. >> OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD. Oh my god. My back hurt just thinking about this. This is Yo. Yo, I feel the pain through the screen. I know. Yo, she's lucky. She's young. She could bounce back. You know what I'm saying? Listen, I'm 32. If that happens to me, oh man, I'm Yo, I'm down for the count for like two weeks, boy. I ain't going to lie to you. Just fly with it. Keep it late night drive. Don't be shy.
