If you don't have a seatbelt on, you're supposed to be wearing a seatbelt. All right, hang tight for me. I'll be out. >> Hey, do me a favor, step back here real quick. Keep your hands out of your pockets, okay? >> Put your hands on the car and step backwards. >> Put your hands on the car. >> Step backwards. >> Step backwards. >> Is there any marijuana inside the vehicle? Will you step out for me real quick? Just keep your hands out of your pockets. >> You're not in trouble. You're not Hey, hey, hey, breathe, breathe. Breathe. Look, look at me. Look at me. You're not in trouble. Just breathe. You're fine. Hey, just breathe. You're going to scare her. Just breathe. You're not in trouble. You're not in trouble. You're not in trouble, I promise you. >> Many will tell you that something in this field has a wide variety of evidence-supported short- and long-term advantages to the well-being of people in general. Matter of fact, humanity has benefited greatly from it for over 10,000 years across medicine, industry, nutrition, agriculture, and recreation. You could say it's been used for a long time to enhance life, liberty, and happiness. And then, these psychopaths came along and made it illegal. They ran incessant and ridiculous fear-based campaigns that convinced these simple-minded, profit-motivated fools to write laws against this thing that had benefited humanity for thousands of years. But, what these guys said and wrote down into law really didn't matter and didn't directly affect people until a whole bunch of these guys who jumped on board to enforce those laws against people who wanted to participate in the benefits of that thing that advanced humanity and improved lives for centuries. So, what we're talking about here is the thing that benefits society versus the people who voluntarily harm society by interfering with the distribution of that benefit. And the reason these guys enforce stupid, dangerous, freedom-snatching laws is because they're told to. And because they're mindless order followers, they just comply. And that brings us to a routine traffic stop from the famous Arkansas State Trooper, Jacob Byrd. The name Jacob, by the way, means supplanter or deceiver. Will Trooper Byrd play the part of order-following destroyer of life, liberty, and happiness? Or will he secure and protect the rights and lives of the people he pulled over? I think we know the answer to this because troopers are nothing more, nothing less than revenue-generators for the state. We're going to take a look at this video and make some comments along the way. >> Hey there. How are you? >> I'm good. >> Good. Hey, what are you What are you reaching for? >> This is Audi. I just picked him up from the airport. >> Okay. Well, we don't need to be moving around like that. Hey, that's uncalled for. Okay. All right. Well, I'm Trooper Byrd with the State Police. The reason I stopped you, the vehicle registration is expired July to July of 2025. Is it your car? >> car. >> Okay. So, the car's regis- The car's expired, the registration July of 2025. >> Yes. >> It's also had unconfirmed insurance. It's okay? >> Yes, my mom I have a copy of the insurance with me. >> Okay. >> This my It's my dad's car and I'm steady telling mom that he getting pulled over for anything. He got to fix it. >> Okay. So, if that's the case, uh are you driving the car primarily? >> Yes. >> It's not your car. It's It's your dad's car. Okay. So, if you drive it primarily, do you think your dad would sell it to you so that way you can try to >> Yes, he's been telling me to go to the DMV, but he won't give me my title to go get it switched over to my name. I'm just waiting on him. >> Okay. Okay, I super understand. Okay, do you have an ID on you? >> Yes. >> You don't have a seatbelt You're supposed to wear a seat belt. Thank you. How do you say your first name? >> Janae. >> Janae, okay. Perfect. All right, hang tight for me, okay, y'all? >> Word to the wise or unwise, if you're going to ride dirty, you might want to follow the traffic laws so you don't put a target on your chest. Just a suggestion. >> How you doing tonight? >> I was just about to ask you that. Real quick. >> Keep your hands out of the car, okay? >> Yes, sir. >> All right. Put your hands on the car and step backwards. Put your hands on the car and step backwards. >> Step backwards with your feet. >> Thank you. There's no weapons in the car? Uh I can smell weed coming from the car when I approached your window and when I'm standing there and I lean in, I can smell it coming from inside the car. Um is there any marijuana inside the vehicle? >> He probably didn't smell weed. What he did was he got the guy's ID because the guy wasn't wearing a seat belt, so he used that as justification to get his ID. He ran his name, he ran her name, he found out that he's got a drug conviction with marijuana, and then he put the pieces together. Now he's saying he smells marijuana so that he can justify his intrusion into their life and violation of the Fourth Amendment. >> Smell what? >> Smell what? >> Marijuana. >> There's no marijuana. >> Okay. Ma'am, since you drive the car, when was the last time there was marijuana in the car? >> Uh this is my boyfriend. I don't I just picked him up from the airport. >> Ma'am, ma'am, that's not what I just asked. I asked you, I'm smelling weed coming from the car, so I'm asking you >> I just picked him up from the airport. There's no weed in here. Like I told my kid all day, there's no weed. >> Okay. >> I just picked him up, but these like these aren't nothing in here is mine. It's all his. >> Okay. All right. Is your daughter in She's two? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Steering. >> Is that your car? >> The handcuffs on me for now. Do you have anything on you, do you have anything else on you? >> I'm not sure. >> Ma'am, I'm just going to search that area, okay? >> Okay. >> What's going on? I'll fix them and search the car for this. >> No crime was committed, there's no verified complainant, but now we have a guy in handcuffs. Not because he harmed somebody, threatened harm somebody, damaged property, or stole property, but because the cop smells marijuana and they have a registration that's expired. >> No marijuana, please. >> Is there weed in the car? >> Not that I'm aware of. >> Okay. I just want to make sure. >> The best thing that these two people can do right now is to stop talking to Jacob Byrd. >> Will you step out for me real quick? Just keep your hands where I can see them, okay? You're good. You're good. I I don't know if there's any weapons in there, so I just don't want to >> not weapons, please. >> Okay. Turn around for me. I'm just going to make sure you don't have anything on you. Okay. Empty your pockets. Okay. Uh walk around You're fine. You're fine. Walk around with me. Let's get your daughter out just so that way she's she's good. >> I don't know what's going on. I don't know what's going on. I just put them I literally just got in this >> What? >> And he asked me to just let him Yeah, we just started talking. >> told you why I stopped y'all. >> Yeah, and I don't What do you have I don't know. Like >> Why is she not in a proper car seat if she's 2 years old? She's in a booster seat. >> Um no, she's not. It's a proper car seat. >> No, ma'am, it's not. That's not a proper car seat. You didn't even have the straps on her. You just had the seat belt around her. Okay, so then it's not the proper car seat. >> I'm sorry. >> Okay, that makes sense. Okay. Uh grab this blanket just so y'all aren't cold. And do me a favor, just go sit on that porch up there. I just Usually I have people stand by my car, but we're in the road still. So, I don't want y'all to get hit, okay? So, you normally drive the car or you said >> And I just picked him up from the airport. That's literally it. I've never been pulled over for weed or anything. >> Okay. So, if there's if I find marijuana in the vehicle >> Yes, that's not mine. >> Okay. Have your house key on the concrete. How long y'all been dating? >> Uh a couple months. >> Couple months, okay. She told me she just met you, so >> And that is why you don't talk to police, especially when they separate you. They're going to get a story from you, they're going to get a story from the other person, they're going to assume you're lying to them, and then they're going to slap an extra obstruction of justice charge on you. >> I mean about two about two months. >> Then why would she say she just met you? >> Because I mean we just started dating. Two months has been fairly recently. >> Well, what? >> It's been fairly recently. >> Fairly recently, okay. All right. Uh Just so you're aware, sweetheart, the registration on that vehicle expired in July of 2025 and it has no insurance, okay? So, I guess her dad may have dropped the insurance coverage on it, okay? >> Okay. >> So, just so you're aware of that. She uh She said it she just picked you up from the airport. What What inside that vehicle is yours? >> Uh my suit my suitcase right there up on the >> and the duffel bag that you were getting your ID out of? >> Yes, sir. >> You what? >> Yes, sir. I was getting my ID out of my my little tote right there. >> Okay, yeah. Hang tight with me, man. I'll be right back. Hey. If I don't find anything, I'm just going to I'm just going to cite you for the expired registration cuz it's been so far the insurance and you'll be on your way, okay? That makes sense? >> No, it's no big deal. You said there's no weed, you said there's no weed. Seriously, if I find if I don't find anything and even if I find just like a couple grams, we'll talk it out, we'll let you go, right? All right, don't trip. Are you calling somebody? Okay. I said I don't want anybody else coming out here. I don't know what's going on. Is there something in them cuz you're acting weird? Okay. Okay, so what's the Why are you so worked up about the suitcases? Okay. Well, how long y'all been dating? Okay. Like I told him, if I don't find anything, then we're uh then I'm just going to cite him and release him, okay? Where's the key to this suitcase? You don't know? Okay. Yeah, he's got the suitcase locked. You say you picked him up from the airport this week and last week? Does he travel for work? Okay. Uh okay. Okay. What does he do out in LA? He don't tell you what he does, so you So, you meet someone online They work in LA and you think it's okay to Okay. Hey, there's a train coming by. They're going to be blowing the horn all the way through, so plug her ears so it doesn't hurt her ears. Plug both of her ears so it doesn't hurt her ears. Cuz they're going slow and they're going to be blowing the horn. >> So, Trooper Bird is violating their fourth amendment right to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects because he says he smells marijuana. >> No, not yet. Hold on. >> If you can If you can lose your freedoms because a police officer smells plant matter in the land of the free, home of the brave, this can't be the land of the free, home of the brave. >> All right, where are the keys to your suitcase? >> Uh, believe that my I don't think they're in the my car or in the in the in the top zipper up there. >> In the top zipper where? >> Right up [music] front. >> What? >> So, he gets the keys to the suitcase. He goes through the suitcase and he finds the thing that these people said wasn't in the car. He finds about 50-something pounds of MJ. >> Hey, just breathe. You're going to scare her. Just breathe. You're not in trouble. You're not in trouble. You're not in trouble. I promise you. 46 Royal Palm 10-15. One of those fell out. >> And that's the stuff that makes people happy. That's the stuff that has benefited society for thousands of years. And Harry Anslinger decided, you know what? We're going to villainize this. We're going to tell people that it makes them crazy. It makes people commit crimes. It causes people to do dastardly things. And we're going to sell this idea to the politicians. They're going to create a law, and then the law enforcement agents will enforce that law called the drug war, which isn't a war on drugs. This is a war on people who haven't harmed others. >> Come here. Come here. Hey, you're not in trouble. Hey, listen. Listen, you're not in trouble. >> Are you serious? >> Because I asked him what was in there. He said that you just picked him up from the airport. The suitcases were his. He's taking ownership of the suitcases, okay? You've been polite and cooperative. He's been He's been cooperative. You all haven't given me any issues, okay? But like I said, when I come up to the window, explain the reason for the stop, I can smell weed coming from the car, okay? Obviously, now there's a suitcase full of weed. >> Yeah, but I can I mean, I do smoke I do smoke weed like at home in in my car sometimes. >> Okay. Well, that's that's >> That's probably the smell. It's like then I'm immune to it, so I probably don't know if it's >> So, keep your mouth shut. Don't admit anything, especially to a cop. What is wrong with you people? He's claimed the suitcases, so you have a valid driver's license? >> Yes, sir. >> So, what I'm going to do is he's going to go to jail. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay? And then I'm going to release the car with you. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay? Does off since you got your daughter. >> I'm I I did not know that was really I wanted to >> You're okay. >> Mom, man. >> Listen, go ahead and just do me a favor. >> Dad. >> WHICH DAD? >> MOM. >> OH. YEAH. YOU'RE OKAY. HANG UP. >> DAD. >> You can sit in No. No. Just sit in the car and you'll stay warm, okay? Don't start the car, but just turn the key over and roll the window Just roll that Try to roll that window up. Just reach over and roll the driver's side up so that way you don't have a lot of wind coming through, okay? Uh just turn the key off. >> I'm I'm I didn't If I would have known you had that, I would seriously wanted to been dealing with it. I'm so >> Well, Mama's not in trouble. You're okay. >> I'm not in trouble. >> No. >> Bro, this [ __ ] is like My [ __ ] kid >> Okay. Adam 46th Adam 4. You're not 10-6 or somebody else. Can I get a unit over here to come 10-4, I appreciate it. It's no rush. Uh there's a train crossing over here at 4:40. Hey, I'm good. Yeah, I'm good. I appreciate it, man. Thanks. Y'all be safe. His because he's going to jail, they're not going to hold his black duffel bag that had some of his clothes in it, okay? There's no drugs in it. I checked. Okay, there's no firearms or anything like that. His bag is his bag and the pants that were inside the blue suitcase and the jackets that were covering the stuff up is in the trunk. >> Uh-huh. >> Okay? >> Okay. I was wondering what you were putting back back there. >> Yeah, so that's in the trunk and that's his. Okay? Give me just a second. I'll get your ID to you. Start that car up. Roll your window up. That way y'all can get warm. >> Okay. Um >> And I'll be back up here in just a second. >> Can I say something to him before I leave? >> Yeah, what you got? >> I want to just talk to him. >> No, you're not going to talk to him right now. >> Oh, okay. >> Not right now. >> Well, can I can you give him Can you give him a number he doesn't have it by heart. We literally He doesn't He doesn't have anything. I just need him to get his >> Okay. So, I've got a question for you cuz I'm a parent. If you just met him a month or two ago. Let Let me talk. Don't interrupt. Don't interrupt me, please. As a parent, this is a serious issue. If you just met him a month or two ago, >> Mom! >> and >> Can I I want to ask him why the [ __ ] do you think it was okay to >> Okay. >> not tell me what you had >> let's address that. Okay. >> Think about the insanity of that. A professional road pirate was about to give parental advice during a traffic stop, a Fourth Amendment violating traffic stop. >> Let's address that after this fact. Okay? Not while he's in the back of my police car. Okay? Does that make sense? Okay. >> Mom, I can tell you tell you the truth. >> I already asked for the truth. You told me there was no weed in the car. So, you lied to me. >> bro. I'm scared, man. They're coming They're coming in right now. They're flying in. >> Listen. Okay, stop talking. Stop talking. Hold on. >> [snorts] >> Okay, listen to me. You're under arrest, okay? All right. Listen to me. You're under You've You've You've been placed under arrest, okay? Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. You have the right to have an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you at no cost. You have the right to have an attorney present when answering questions. And any point in time you decide to stop answering questions, you have the right to do so as well, okay? Does that make sense? Do Does that make sense? Do you understand all those rights? >> Can I leave talk to >> No, no, listen. Do you understand all parts of those rights? >> I'm not from here. >> Okay, listen. I'm ask I'm asking you a question. Do you understand all parts of those rights? Okay. Now that you've understood all parts of those rights, do you still wish to talk to me? >> I don't I don't want I don't >> I can't hear you. >> I said yes, sir. I said I don't want this. Man, I don't want to be involved >> You said this is you. You said this is someone else's stuff? >> Yeah. He's already been caught doing it. And I got paid $700. >> You got paid $700 for bringing this much dope in? You're transporting that much dope for $700? >> I don't have a lot of money, sir. >> Holy cow, dude. You do realize she just said that she picked you up from the airport. And you do realize that if you get caught transporting that, you could be facing federal time? This right here we're dealing with on the state side. Okay? >> Please I was on my way to work. Would you work with me? I'm scared, man. I ain't I ain't want to sit and say that in front of her. What she can go back and tell the dude. >> Okay. So, do you know this person, I guess? >> I'm from I'm I'm not from here. I just moved down >> a Mississippi license? >> Sir, my mama is the general manager at Hooters, and I moved up here with her. >> And so, you thought running dope was a smart idea? >> I just I ain't had no money. I just ain't had no money. >> I got you. How long you been running dope for? >> I drive it for him like a hundred pounds or something like that. >> Okay. Like small drop-offs or like 5 10 pound drop-offs? >> Little small just just whatever he tell me to do and he pay me. >> Okay. Got you. >> Boss, can we please can out of the court and I work with you like that? >> to we're going to take it to court. I got a trooper coming over here right now. The suitcases are going to go in his back seat. He's going to transport it to state police headquarters for me. >> You got me a court date and can I work with you? >> No, you're going to the jail. It's a felony amount of dope. You're going to jail. >> Nothing I can do? He said that when he got caught they they wrote him a court date to come to come to court. >> Who? >> The dude I'm telling you. >> Who told you that? What am I asking? >> I guess y'all did. I don't know when he's leaving the airport. >> I don't I don't know. I don't I don't I don't have any idea what you're talking about. >> He said I'm not OR'd or something. I don't know what that means. >> OR'd? You're talking about getting OR'd. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Being OR'd just means that they're just basically citing and releasing you out of jail. He's going to Southside. Each suitcase is full of weed. I'm just going to put them in your back seat. You're going to roll with your camera on. You can just take it to headquarters. You can stop your camera once you get into headquarters. We have cameras at headquarters. You can stop your camera, take it out, take those, and put them in the troop room. But I'm going to need the You can't leave them obviously unattended. So >> Now Trooper Bird allows the female to talk to her boyfriend. >> Are you going to see what's up? >> I'm just got to get this this this is not working. >> It's not not working at all. >> Okay. You need to get a chance. >> I'm not going to be able to call you too. I don't know I don't know when when I when will I get out? >> I don't know. It's just that all depends There's your license back. It It all depends on the jail, man. I don't know how busy they are, especially going into the weekend and what all they have going. I don't know all that. >> probably be a minute but don't answer it. And I'm going to get you. Yeah. >> I love you. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. Put your daughter in that seat. Hey, do me a favor, okay, for her safety, okay, cuz it it's on you as a parent. She can't decide that. Go to YouTube and Google car seats for 2-year-olds and look up what a car seat's supposed to look like. Get the money, go buy one, okay? That way she's safe. Cuz you get in a car crash, whether it's your fault or not, get T-boned, get spun around, whatever the case may be, the worst case scenario, the last time you possibly see her alive is when you put her in that car seat with just a seat belt across her lap. Okay? And next time you could have been seeing her, you would have been burying. Okay? He's going to talk to you in a little bit. All right, you're good to go. Yes, ma'am, they're in the car. You roll the window up. I'm going to let you in, all right? Just lean back and look to your left. You think I'm a like a No. No, but that's That's my fault, isn't it? You guys We're going to We'll be at the jail in about the next 10 minutes. What do you mean, talk to you? No, I'm not a detective. I'm just doing my job. I just stopped you for your insurance and registration. It's not the weed. You saw I searched the car. Cuz weed's illegal in Arkansas. I'm just doing my job. They tell me weed's illegal. Hey, I just follow the laws. I don't make the laws, I just enforce those laws, and it really doesn't matter who I harm in the process. They tell me to do something, I just do it, cuz I'm an order follower. Okay, and let's say you had a medical card, which obviously, even with a medical card, that wouldn't have been correct anyway, so. All right, you need to Thank you. If you're smart and you're transporting this volume of weed, wouldn't you make sure that the car you're driving has its registration paid up. He got cited for driving without a registration, no liability, no insurance, and possession of a controlled substance with a quantity between 25 and 100 lb. And of course, Trooper Byrd is proud of himself because he saved society from one of the most beneficial plants known to mankind. Leave your thoughts about this in the comments section below.
