On today's body cam, we're checking out when no nonsense officers lay down the law. >> On Sunday, March 8th, a Papa John's in Fort Myers, Florida, was having a problem with some customers demanding to place an order 2 minutes before closing time. The employee said she couldn't take their order, but >> They would not stop harming me. I I even tried walking away. I was dead silent. I kept telling them, "There's nothing I can do for you." >> So, the employee called the police. >> You heard what how the call came in. She was yelling at them to get out of her kitchen. Get out of her kitchen. >> When the officers arrived, they were ready to lay down the law. >> So, why can't we order now? >> Get out of the store. >> We didn't do anything. >> Walk out of the store or you're going to jail. Last warning. >> Walk out of the store. >> It's open. LOOK AT THE TIME. >> WALK OUT. >> LOOK AT THE TIME. >> WALK OUT. YEAH, walk out. >> She let us in. SHE LET US IN. SHE LET US IN. SHE LET US IN. SHE LET US IN. SHE LET US >> SHE LET US IN. WHAT ARE YOU >> GET OFF. GET ON THE GROUND. >> SHE LET ME >> GIVE ME YOUR CHANNEL. >> SHE LET LET me in. She let me in. Turn around. >> Bro, BRO, BRO, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? WHAT ARE YOU >> STAY WITH THEM. STAY WITH THEM. I GOT >> WHAT ARE YOU DOING? >> PUT YOUR HANDS ON LAY ON YOUR STOMACH. >> BRO, WHAT ARE YOU BRO, GET ON THE GROUND. BRO, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? BRO. >> YOU DIDN'T GET OFF OF THIS. >> NO, YOU GOING TO JAIL. >> DUDE. >> YOU going to jail. >> NO, I'M NOT. CUZ I DIDN'T DO [ __ ] >> BRO, STACY. >> YOU GET TASED IF YOU DON'T PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK NOW. >> NO. >> STOP. I CAN'T BEND THAT WAY. >> STAY WITH THEM. Who's with you? >> Nobody. >> I just keep my eye on Stay with them. I'm getting it. >> Stop. You're hurting me. >> Well, you shouldn't have resisted. >> I'M NOT RESISTING. YOU'RE hurting me. >> Well, I told you put your hands BEHIND YOUR BACK. STOP TALKING OVER ME. >> I CAN'T BEND THAT WAY. >> STAY WITH THEM. >> I DIDN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING. >> HEY, just chill. >> You're hurting me. >> I'm sorry. >> You're hurting me. CAN YOU STOP? >> HEY, GO INSIDE. GO INSIDE. WHO'S THERE? THERE'S no Stop talking. >> WHY AM I STOP TALKING? I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING. >> WE'LL FIGURE IT OUT. >> I'M TELLING YOU WHAT >> HEY, I DON'T CARE. GET YOUR HANDS OFF. QUIET. >> YOU DON'T CARE CUZ YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, RIGHT? Can I talk to an officer that cares? >> There are those two of them and the carrots got him. He got most of the opportunity >> BRO, I'M TELLING YOU WHAT HAPPENED. >> I I GAVE YOU THE OPPORTUNITY TO WALK OUT. YOU'RE GOING TO JAIL. GET UP AGAINST THE CAR. >> BRO, can I tell y'all what happened? >> Hold on. Hold on. Do you have anything on you? If you have anything on you, it's an extra charge when you go to the jail. It's a first degree felony. DO YOU UNDERSTAND? >> FOR WHAT? >> ANY CONTRABAND? >> YOU HAVE to tell me for what? >> You're going to jail. >> You're going to jail for trespassing and resisting. >> That's right. Take a seat. >> Y'all are >> Take a seat in the car. >> Y'all are wrong. Y'all are >> All the way in or you going in disorderly? >> Can you stop? >> She's going disorderly anyways. >> How can she tell me I can't be in here but I ordered food? >> All right. >> How can she tell me I can't be in here? I ordered food. >> It's a business. They can tell you where they want. >> That's true. In Florida, the statute for trespassing is written such that remaining on the property after being asked to leave instantly becomes a criminal offense, specifically a first degree misdemeanor. >> You okay? >> Like the channel? Subscribing makes this narrator feel like he just found a coupon for half off pizza. >> Whose vehicle is this? >> It's mine and husband's. Say wait. >> Who's your husband? >> Say. >> Okay, well he's going to jail for resisting and trespassing. >> No. >> Yeah. I told him to leave the property. He told me no. It doesn't matter. When I Listen to me. When a private business ask somebody to leave, I show up, tell them to leave, and he tells me no, he goes to jail. I try to take him to jail, then he wants to fight. So, now he's going to jail for two charges. Okay? >> Wow. This is >> [laughter] >> I don't even have much to say because you can see Listen, I let this rock for minutes. I didn't even say a peep. I didn't say a peep. This is insane. Look. >> [clears throat] >> Technically, if I was running the business, the last customer, you know, all right, you came in 2 minutes before, 5 minutes before, whatever, we're technically still open, right? That's like if you go into the store, like if you go into your corner store, and let's say they close at 12:00. If you go into the corner store, you know, 10:55, they're going to say, "Hey, you got 5 minutes, you know?" That's it, you know? Or if you go into the grocery store, you know, let's say the grocery store closes at 10:00, and you walk in at, you know, whatever, 9:50, they're going to be like They're going to make the announcements on it. Uh store closing in 10 minutes, be at the registers, or whatever, right? So, I know it may be a pain in the butt, but I personally would take customers up until the the the time that it says on there, on the door, what time you guys technically close. Now, any new customers after that time, I wouldn't. Because I know personally that I hate when certain when certain places, like let's say they close at let's use 11:00 for an example. But they going to shut it down at 10:45 so they could get out there so they could get out a little early. Nah, like you're open until 11:00. You know what I mean? Like that's how I would play it. But either way, it's not that lady's fault. She's just getting direction from whoever, like whatever their routine is or whatever. But it is what it is, man. Either way when they told you to leave and you can't do X, Y, and Z, it's over. You got to leave. You got to leave. Try to get your refund back another you know, the next day. Go talk to a manager or something or whatever. Work it out that way, but you can't stay in an establishment that you're not welcomed at. They could kick you out, man. Hit the road, Jack, and don't you come back no more, no more, no more, no more. >> She needs to figure out a way to get home. >> The person can't go into the store and order a pizza and she lets me in and now I'm in handcuffs. >> You're going to jail for trespassing and resisting. >> I didn't trespass anything. She didn't trespass me, sir. >> You did not. You did not. You did not. You did not. >> He threw me on the ground. I didn't even get to speak. I didn't even get to speak and he threw me on the ground. I didn't even get to speak. >> step over this pipe. >> So let's hear the employee's side of the story. >> They had called my store at about 12:58 a.m. >> [music] >> asking me, "Can we place an order?" And I said, "Unfortunately, I am about to close and I am already backed up. I'm not allowed to take your order." And before I had even been able to hang up the phone, it hung up on its own. And as soon as that happened, they came walking up to the door. I thought that they were just here to pick up another order, so I let them in. And as soon as they let them in, the first thing they said was, "Oh, so you're going to hang up on them." >> You can't trespass a person that you're willing to let in the store. >> I can give you this card to come back tomorrow for the inconvenience, but as of right now, there is nothing I can do for you. >> Why am I getting >> Which, that's fair. That's [clears throat] fair. You know, technically they called, it was still open. Yeah, it's towards the end, but she told you no, but they could compensate you in another way or whatever. Maybe a free pizza or half off or something like that tomorrow, whatever. Any normal human being would just be like, all right, cool, and call somebody else. You know what I mean? Like, call another pizza spot or something. You know, that's a that's what a some or another place that's open a little later or whatever, but you know, clearly they're not they're not decent. >> I'm being arrested for getting a pizza. >> I've no idea. >> That's when they started getting really loud and they were like, just trying to convince me a lot of what they were saying is irrelevant. >> But if how am I trespassing if I never got witnessed with any trespassing notice? >> If they were if you were told to leave and you didn't >> They didn't tell me to leave. They didn't tell me to leave. >> Did you ask them to leave at all? >> Uh yes, multiple times. >> Uh estimate of how many times? Like, did you say, "Please leave"? >> least 20 times. >> You're supposed to care about the citizens. You literally just said it's >> I wasn't here. I'm not the one charging you. I'm literally just giving you a ride. I am your Uber. But >> Yeah, giving your ass a ride down to the county, boy. >> You're not my Uber. >> I am. >> You're not. You're more than a Uber. You're supposed to stand for the law. >> Yeah? >> And what it I'm telling you is not standing for the law and you're still going for it? >> I'm going to tell you right now if you don't chill the hell out, you're going to end up going disorderly and that's going to be worse. >> Disorderly how? For speaking my peace? For speaking my mind, I'm going to go for disorderly. For freedom of speech, I'm going to go for disorderly. >> Disorderly won't hold up. I don't think that will hold up. I I don't think most of these charges are going to hold up, but it's just sometimes you got to make an arrest just to prove a point. You know what I mean? Just to act right. You know whether that holds up in court or not. And you know, I mean Yeah, [clears throat] you know, at some point you got to get them out of the store. They're not They're not trying to leave or whatever, but you know, they're tackling all these charges. I don't I don't think most most of these are not going to stick, but >> Police told me I'm going for disorderly for speaking my mind. Please tell me that cuz I will get my lawyer in here real quick. Please tell me I'm getting in trouble for speaking my mind. Please tell me that. Please tell me that. >> An interesting side note, the man would later apply for a public defender. >> Because I will get my lawyer I know his number by heart. So, please tell me I'm getting in trouble for speaking my mind. Please tell me that. Please tell me that. >> In Florida, the statute for disorderly conduct uses broad language such that yelling in the back of a patrol car late at night could constitute a breach of peace. >> Wait wait wait wait. Affect the peace and quiet of a person who may witness them. >> peace and quiet for those in the area. >> I'm so disappointed at the justice system right now. I'm I'm so disappointed, bro. You guys are arresting a person for getting his food at 12:00 at night. What did I do wrong? What did I do wrong? Tell me what I did wrong. Please tell me what I did wrong. This is crazy. >> Welcome to the real world. >> No, it's not the real world. You get offered into a pizza place to order a pizza and then they get told it's closed. >> you don't and then when they But WHEN YOU GET LET IN, what's the reason of getting let in if I can't order? >> It's irrelevant. It doesn't matter. Jail. Now, well, welcome to jail. >> It's human decency. >> Welcome to jail. >> Human decency. >> you enjoy your stay. They were both charged with trespassing and resisting without violence. Each entered >> I think resisting could could go. >> a pre-trial intervention deferred prosecution agreement [music] in which they admitted to committing the offenses as charged, agreed to complete an anger management course, and stay away from that Papa John's location. Their cases are scheduled for review in October. And if all the conditions of the agreement are met, the state attorney's office has agreed not to pursue [music] the charges. Thanks. >> Yeah, fair enough. Fair enough. You know, like I said, sometimes, you know, you just got to arrest them just to you know, wake them up a little bit, man. Welcome to reality, you know? Cuz this is all this is this was ridiculous. The store is closing, you know the store closing. You know what I mean? You know what time they close, you know? Like me, I I always go to the What what I got near me? What's that called? Dollar General. I got Dollar General near me, right? Man, I always go to Dollar General, they close at 10:00. Guess who's walking in at 9:45? Me, okay? That's like the routine. A lot of the times you see me when I do these lives and stuff like that. The lives we got 8:00 or whatever, right? So, typically the live streams last from like 8:00 to whatever, 9:00, maybe a little after 9:00 or something like that. And then right after that, you know, I'm getting myself together, unwinding or whatever, trying to figure out what snacks I want for the night. And I'm heading right over to Dollar General. They already know. They see me come through. Uh is, you know, but that's what it is, you know? they just say, "Hey, you got 15 minutes. You got 10 minutes, 5 minutes. You know, we're closing. Yada yada." It's no big deal. But, uh clearly this Papa John's, you know, whatever. They didn't want to take your order cuz you came 2 minutes. And 2 minutes is a little ridiculous, you know? That That's come on. Like at some point you got to think about the workers, too, you know? But, whatever. >> Looking for answers as the world goes by. >> What's the reality that you have to squeeze? >> The craziest moments that [music] you've ever seen. >> And subscribe. What's the reality? >> Try got all the >> [music] >> reactions. >> Captured full time.
