June 10th, 2025, officers responded [music] to a target for a call of a woman who had spent four hours in the store attempting to leave with unpaid merchandise. >> How are you? >> Good. >> Just ringing it up. >> Yeah, I'm ringing up everything right now. Um, >> how much we got so far? >> It's This is This I just forgot the lofah, but that's everything. >> 18. >> Mine is like a dollar. >> Okay. So, 1816 subfuel before tax. Okay. >> Yeah. >> All righty. >> So, she's in the office right now. You guys have the video, too? >> Yeah, we have everything. >> Okay. Can I take a look at that video, too, before I talk to her? >> Well, she's in there right now, and that's where our cameras are. >> Oh, okay. Um, unless it's a problem with you guys. Thanks. Okay. Take a look at >> as me that. >> Hey, how's it going? >> How you doing? >> How's it going? How you doing? All right. You guys pulling that up? >> Yeah. So, I have her trying to leave right now. >> Okay. I'll talk to you a second, miss. Okay. Right now, you're not under arrest, but you're being detained. Okay. >> Detained. >> We're being detained. That's her trying to leave. She did pay for a large portion of those items. Um, specifically what we know of, she had two Hot Wheels items that she kept under the seat there while she was checking out at the register. When they looked away, she pulled both of those items out, put them into bags. Uh, she still had a basket in there as well with some cosmetics. Uh, maybe some jewelry items. She went up to guest service. She paid for a bunch of items up there, but left all those items in the basket. And then she moved to exit through those doors there, and that's when we stopped her. Uh, we do also have a record of her with Target. Give me one second. I'll pull that up. My system is being dumbly slow today. Let me get back in the office. And then today's incident where she was dealing with those items. >> So, it is going to take us a while to get the video together. She was in here for about 4 hours. >> Okay. >> Um, >> 4 hours in one duration or over? >> Yeah, 4 hours in one duration. Um, the >> Do you have the receipt of those? >> Is that all this? Does it look right? >> Yeah. So, this looks right. We will double check it against the other items, but this is all the stuff that was left in that basket. Uh along with the uh is that with the two toys on it? The two Hot Wheels. Yeah, with both Hot Wheels on there. >> Um so we'll double check to make sure there's not something else, but we're going to have to I'll actually have you go back out and just ring up. >> If there's anything else you guys can send in my way, I'll give you my email and stuff like that. Okay. >> Who spends 4 hours in Target? I'm telling you, soon as I heard that, oh no. Yeah, you definitely up to no good. You definitely up to no good. She's probably gotten away with this before, so she's trying it again. And it seems like she has money, right? They said that she paid for a lot of a lot of the things she actually paid for. Um why not just pay for all of it? Why not just pay for all of it? 4 hours in the grocery store or whatever you want to call it, supermarket, whatever you want to call a Target, but is to me is insane. Okay. I mean, I feel like maybe an hour, hour and a half maybe if you really getting a lot of things I guess, you know, and maybe you got kids running around, you're trying to get them in order and stuff. Hey, you know, but 4 hours, that's half a shift at work, man. Most people work 8 hours a day. Okay. 4 hours in Target. Oh, no. >> All right, miss. Like I said, you're not under arrest right now. You're being detained. Um, so do you have an ID with you? >> I don't. >> Credit card is what you gave me for ID. >> Are you Latoya? >> I am. >> Okay. All right. Latoya, you want to talk to me? >> Yeah. It's I Well, Target is so racist. >> No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. We are not going to start this off with that. What does that have to do with you taking things that you did not pay for? No, we are not going with that excuse. We're not doing that. You got to come up with something better than that, man. That's that. No, no, no, no. >> As soon as I came through the door, that girl with that uh neon shirt ran to the ran to the front door and I took video of it. Um when I walked up to the front, no one was there. No asset protection, no nothing. And so I was like, "Oh, okay." Okay. So, then I recorded him and I recorded her walking up to that door and I'm like, "Oh, so now they're profiling." And so, I went to that register, register one. And I don't even know what he's talking about with the Hot Wheels cuz I did my total was uh $219. Mhm. >> And so, um, when I was at the register and I had a a basket, >> and so the lady at the register was acting antie that she wanted to go to lunch and the other older lady was like, um, you can go ahead and go to lunch. And she was like, what you going to do with that basket? I'm like, I'm going to guest service. And so she put everything around the basket and nothing in the inside. So I went to guest service. I had two baskets full of clothes already waiting at guest service. And so, um, >> what kind of service are you talking about? >> Over here at the service desk. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, >> this is for for merchandise that you had in your cart, >> um, that I was going to pay for. So, they had things on hold like uh my kids clothes I hold. >> Oh, like over here to pick up. >> Mind if I said that receiving real quick? >> Oh, I think I did. I leave it over there. >> You have it there behind you. >> Is it this one? >> I don't. >> No, this is the small one. >> She might have it. >> And you have a >> I think I literally just had it. Must have put it over here. Oh, it's not good. No, that's not it. I don't remember where I put it. >> So, um I rolled up to guest service. I did the first basket. Um and then the Indian girl woman came and I asked her to get two kitty pools for me. And so, she got two kitty pools. And then she I guess she decided to help the other girl. And while she was helping the other girl, she just put the pool right on top of my basket. and I would check out the basket. She just put the pool right on top. There were no bags there, like nothing was just sitting wide open from register one. >> So, when I went to guest service, um, bring up all my clothes and my houseear stuff. >> Okay. But typically, you're supposed to pay for all the stuff over there at the register before you go to the place that's probably right next to the exit, right? >> She was complaining about going to lunch, >> register one. She didn't want to work anymore. >> So, >> so you so you walk past >> H? [clears throat] So, you just walk past and say, "Okay." >> No, she she asked me about my basket. She said it was okay to take it to customer service. Okay. >> Cuz it was already in the basket. >> So, when I was at gas service after she got the pool, she just put it right on top of my basket. >> And so, I paid for everything thinking that I about the damn basket cuz I'm working with the other lady. >> All right. So, what happened after? >> So, um after I'm going to go get into my car and these two people So, suddenly we went from the service test to getting into your car. >> I paid for my stuff at customer service. >> Okay. What about the other $180 that you didn't pay for? >> $180? >> Yeah, that's what the receipt said. >> Of what? Can I see? >> Looks like it looks like there were various toys, other things that we had there. >> It was everything that was inside. >> Let me see. >> Bon didn't get paid for. >> I understand. [snorts] If you went to customer service to pay for the rest of your stuff because of some other situation. >> The black jacket. The black jacket is $15. >> That's the question. >> Who gives a crap? You didn't pay for it. Whether it was $15 or $30, who cares? You didn't pay for it. Period. >> Price. >> We're just negotiating for the >> It's not even on here on clearance though >> because you don't have >> Okay. So, outside of the outside of the price, these items here, you apparently were well on your way out of the door obviously walking >> laundry cleaning. What's the laundry cleaning and closet? Cuz it's just >> Well, tell what's your birthday? >> Like I told him like I can pay like only thing was supposed to be in there was the makeup. >> Got it. >> Okay. What's What's a good Okay. What's a good phone number for you, Miss? So, there's some things that you're disagreeing that you stole, but some things that you did walk out with. >> Yeah. So I I don't know how she she forgot what is the HH basket cuz that white basket she's supposed to have scanned. Is that what's on there? >> Okay. What do you remember? Oh boy. >> She's nickpicking some items that she took, some items she didn't. She's nick-picking the prices of the items, whether it's $15 or $30. You did not pay for it, man. Listen, the story was sounding real good. It was sounding good. I ain't going to lie. It was sounding good. She went to the desk, yada yada. Okay, boom. Lady, go to lunch. Okay, we can check you out at guest services. All right, no problem. That sound real good until you walk out the store with all them items that you didn't pay for and you paid for a lot of things. So, it seems like you you you spent some money in there, you know? I mean, you got to spend some money in Target anyway. Target expensive now. But why? Like, I just don't understand why. Why would you do that? And then you try to blame it on the other girl. Oh, I thought the other girl, she scanned that by. You know deep down inside that everything that you had that you was wheeling to that car, you did not pay for, man. Dang. >> Walking out with that. You didn't pay for, >> right? That's the the room sprays. >> Oh, hold on. But it says HH closet. What's >> Yeah, that's that's the brand. >> Oh, okay. >> Well, what do you remember walking out with that you didn't pay for? Everything should have been paid for. >> Everything should have been paid for, but but it wasn't. So, what what didn't what wasn't paid for? >> The the basket they had the makeup >> and a bronzer and a jacket that was supposed to be $15. >> Okay. >> Everything else was >> See See, you just contradicted yourself. He asked and and she said everything should have been paid for. Now she remembers what she didn't pay for. Now all of a sudden, oh, it's the basket with the makeup. No, see, come on. You full of it. >> Have been paid. >> You tried to pull a fast one and you got caught >> for. >> Okay, that's that's what we got you on video. Obviously, walking out with with merchandise that some of the >> basket was inside the basket for her to ring up. But when I'm working with the one lady for her to ring up the clothes, imagine me you paying for one thing and then a lady another lady has a big pull and she's like I'm just going to sit it on top of your car and she just sits it on top of the car. >> Okay. In the bag in the bag. >> Yeah. Okay. All right. You're obviously concealing stuff. So just uh hang out with me with my partner for one second. I'm going to be right back. Okay. >> Yeah. Cuz I told him like if it's whatever I can pay for it. Like I don't even know how that happened. >> All right. >> Everybody always wants to pay for things after they done already stole it. Now you talking about Oh, I don't know how that happened. You know exactly how it happened. You thought you was going to pull a fast one when she put the pool on top of it to conceal it. >> Hey, officer. Your basket of food. >> Basket of food. Did you How did you get here? Did you drive or >> I'd rather not. Where's uh where's my basket of food? My basket of food is just right outside. >> If I can have it. I don't want my food just sitting out there. >> Well, right now we're in here and my partner's going to explain to you what [snorts] happens next. >> Okay. Um >> you going to jail. >> All right, let's see this. Here's my card. >> Thank you. >> That's going to be the report number so you guys can send over the footage. You guys have a way of sharing it, right? Digital. Do you have a phone number or an email that I can send? Send that over to you. >> Uh that'll be my email down at the bottom there. Let me write my original point. >> Okay. So, I'll tell you just from what I'm seeing, just report wise. Place in our custody. You're going to go back to the Weeden Police Department. Okay. I got to look into a couple things and see what's going on with and see if there's uh uh see what situation we're working with. Okay. >> I don't Okay. I don't have access to that right now. So, we're going to have to take a look at that. You're going to come with us. Okay. So, what I think should probably happen with >> For $100? >> Yeah. I mean, a dollar. We do it for a dollar. That's That's what retail theft is. Okay. Um, so real quick, you bought some food and stuff like that. It might be best that maybe you put that back on the shelf as your refund or something. I don't know what the best way she had was from like Chipotle or something. >> Oh, okay. >> So, she brought that in with her. Uh, all the other items out there that she paid for um can go with you guys. Or >> how much stuff is there? >> She's got some plastic uh poles as well. So, she's got quite a bit, >> right? Like, it doesn't even make sense. Like, >> this lady puts >> Do you guys have Do you guys have a way of holding on to that? >> We can hold on to it. Yeah, >> we don't usually, but I can we can absolutely hold up. >> So, yeah, this the tricky thing is we don't want to bring >> that's going to close. They won't do anything with it. We'll set it aside and make sure it's there. >> Um >> Okay. Well, I've got you real quick. >> The only thing is we can't have her come back in for it. Um >> Okay. Do you have a card by any chance? I can grab one from there. >> Okay. All right. >> Usually happens like usually they give you a ticket. Like what's going on? >> No, there could be felony. >> Usually they give you a ticket. So you Oh, so you familiar with the process, huh? >> Charged on something like this. So, >> a felony charge. >> Mhm. Yeah. If you've been this could be felony pointed at this point. >> Yep. That's kind of how things go. So, yeah. Sometimes we do tickets, but probably not for this circumstance. >> Well, can you stand up? Are you able to stand? >> Like, this is not here. Like, is this your stuff right here? >> Yeah, this is all mine. >> Okay, I'll come with you. We'll bring it. >> Even like I would have I would have hit stuff like >> So, I need you to not go into the bag. I need >> I just want to put my wallet. >> I'll put that in there for you. Let's just let you stand up. Okay. >> Okay. >> No. >> Okay. There's some problem closing this, but >> I I'll close it for you. We got it. We got >> Thank you. It's okay if I grab that one. >> Where's that merchandise? You guys already put it back on the shelf? >> No, we have it right out there. We can take a picture of it for you. >> Um Yeah, that' be good. >> That'd be good. >> Yeah, cuz you could clearly see the the clearance tag on the jacket and you're charging $30. >> Okay. Well, the price is uh the price is what it is. The point is obviously you try to walk out >> with charge. That's to make me look like I'm doing something and I'm not. >> Well, you walk out with 10 cents or you walk out with $30. I mean, the point is you're taking merchandise, ma'am. Okay. I'm sorry. Well, let my lawyer decide. >> Yes. Sounds like a good idea. >> Okay. >> If you could. Yeah. >> Okay. We'll give you just hold on a sec. We'll give you a thing as well if you can sign that. Um I might have my officer just work on that. Okay. >> Can I get my food? And that right there, is she charging it? That's not on the receipt. >> Okay. Let's walk. >> Damn. She awfully worried about that food, man. That's That's like the second or third time she done mentioned that food. Listen, you going to go on down there into the county if you haven't ate yet, which you it seemed like you have cuz you said that you they said that you had Chipotle or something like that. But if she didn't eat yet, then go down there. You know, you'll get you a bologn sandwich. might be a little green, a little couple, you know, little old, but you'll get you a bologn sandwich or something, you know, in the meantime, you know, um maybe a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or something. Um but yeah, she's she's she's worried [clears throat] about that food boy right now. Okay. Okay. I think that >> food officer. >> Okay. Unfortunately, sounds like you >> Yeah, we're not we're not going to let you eat there now. Okay. Let us work through this and then if uh everything checks out, >> we might get you going quick, but we have to look at a couple things. Okay. >> No, because things should that's that's going to be up to the state legislators. That's not my call is what you told me. >> Now, here's my question. Right. Those motor scooters, right, cuz she right outside the door, they had the motor scooter or whatever. So, I'm assuming she was using the motor scooter to ride around and all that type of stuff. Whatever. If she was using the motor scooter, isn't that reserved for people that's like, you know, maybe they got crutches or something like that? You know, a disability where they really can't walk around. She is walking perfectly fine to me. Now, yes, we can see that she's bigger. She's on the plus side, uh, the plus plus side, but, you know, it's like she is still walking around, getting around just fine. So, I wouldn't necessarily say that she needs a motor scooter in my opinion. So, >> I [snorts] never said anything. You never read the number right. >> I told you you were detained. >> You never read the number rights. >> Okay. Well, you're in custody now. So, if you want to talk to me, I can read them to you. >> Nope. I'm too big for that strap. >> Okay. That's okay. Why don't we just get your leg in there and then we'll we'll work on that after. Okay. Do you need help? You got it. >> Well, I can't sit up with the strap. >> Okay. No, the strap is is way up here. Oh, I see what you're saying. Okay, hold on. Let's see this. How about this? There we go. >> A long time since this happened. And and and no reading of my Miranda rights. >> Okay. Well, >> like I told you, Latoya, you were detained. I asked if you wanted to talk to me about the situation and you did. So, >> you never read me my Miranda rights. >> When you're being detained, I don't have to. Are you able are you able to scoot a little over to the left? >> You said I was not being arrested. I was just being detained at the time. Let's get information being detained that you were not in custody. So there was no need to read Miranda, >> right? And even when you >> read when you're in custody and we were going to ask you questions about the investigation after he has >> he has asked me questions. >> All right. Here's the thing. If you're just going to argue, >> you were detained. Does she not understand the difference between detainment, being detained, and being under arrest? be with us. We're just not going to talk to you. Okay. So, that might be the best way. >> I think it's fine if we don't buckle. >> Let's do that. >> All right. Let's Damn. They said they said it's okay if we don't buckle her. It's going to do more harm than good. Oh my goodness. >> Just give us one second to grab from. >> The woman was [music] charged with retail theft and trespassed from Target. Thanks. The world goes by >> watching the reality hit the screen. >> The craziest [music] moments that you've ever Got a [music] reaction >> captured full time.
