about that catch me outside how about that how about there there's the deal on Three Points Road [Music] [Applause] why on Earth would people be giving the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office a hard time why under regular posts like this one would people be saying things like what about Deputy Charles McWhorter who received a purple heart and recognition for the circumstances in which he took an unarmed person's life and so all these crimes in Pueblo have all been warranted by death wow don't break the lawn Pueblo not even traffic and why under post stating that they had a great time watching special Olympic athletes compete would people be dropping comments like on his report Deputy McWhorter lied and said Richard jumped out of the car and attacked him this is a lie he pulled the man out of the car while Richard attempted to take an anti-anxiety pill Deputy mcwhirter was not punished for falsifying a police report after pulling Richard out of the car he shot him in the chest three times seconds later McWhorter mild as Richard lay on the ground dying and Richard's mother wailed mourning the tragedy Deputy McWhorter was rewarded for this action well people are obviously pissed off because of an incident that ended with the death of an unarmed man who was riding in a car with his mother and her boyfriend to pick up his little brother from school on February 22nd 2022 at approximately 3 23 PM Pueblo County sheriff's deputies Charles McWhorter and Cassandra Gonzalez were dispatched to the Liberty Point International Middle School on reports of a suspicious male party trying to open car doors they were informed the male party may be on something suggesting possible intoxication the initial reporting party Eric Valencia told dispatch that a male had become aggressive with one car and he was trying to get into other cars in the parking lot Mr Valencia then tells dispatch that the mail was being confronted by someone from the school School Danny began walking West Mr Valencia then sees the male get into the back seat of a white four-door SUV possibly he says a Mazda with tinted windows and approximately eight to nine cars in from the road when Deputy McWhorter arrives on the scene dispatch gives him the description and location of the vehicle as described by Mr Valencia Deputy McWhorter asked dispatch for more specific information as there were several white cars in the parking lot thus the reason Richard Ward made a mistake and opened the wrong car door Deputy McWhorter is then told that it's a white car that has two children walking in front of it this information assisted Deputy McWhorter in locating the vehicle McWhorter advises dispatch that the male is in the back seat of a white Lexus SUV with Colorado plates McWhorter then contacts the mail and is given the registration information for the vehicle which comes back to Larry Ward there's no radio traffic for over two minutes while contact is made with the mail then then Deputy Gonzalez is heard on the radio advising dispatch of shots fired several seconds later Deputy McWhorter is heard on the radio stating d-39 we need medical we all know that there's no problem so dire that it can't be made worse when Cops show up so in reality one of the main reasons Richard Ward is no longer with us is because Eric Valencia called the cops during the critical incident team investigation both Christy Ward and her boyfriend Tommy Brown were interviewed during the interview Brown said he was driving the vehicle and arrived at the school at approximately 3 10 pm he also said that Christie's other son Richard Ward was also with them Tommy said that Richard was having an off day Richard went for a walk to smoke a cigarette then he was going to pick up his brother Chase and bring him back to the car Tommy said he saw Richard talking to somebody from the school and he assumed they were asking Richard why he was at the school he saw rich pointing to their car and Tommy yelled at Richard to come to the car which he did detective Herrera asked Tommy to explain why Richard was having an off day Tommy said he had just come back from a doctor's appointment and had been put on medications he said Richard is now on medications for bipolar ADHD and severe anxiety detective Herrera then asked Tommy if Richard is on any other type of drug or if he self-medicates to which Tommy said he doesn't think so but said Richard does go to a methadone clinic detective Herrera then asked Tommy if he knew what drugs Richard took and Tommy said that he used to use meth he also said he took Xanax and Adderall Tommy also said later in the interview that Richard could have been on a combination of drugs which would have affected him and admitted that Richard had an opiate problem but that he'd been clean for four months now it could be that drugs played a role in what was going on here being prescribed medication for bipolar disorder ADHD and severe anxiety is a pretty serious issue if what Tommy Brown said about Richard being addicted to math and going to a methadone clinic is true Richard Ward had some serious issues so it could be that he was given people a hard time opening their doors and doing crazy stuff on school property but at the end of the day nothing Richard did could compare to what the Pueblo Police Department ended up doing there was no evidence that Richard harmed anybody nor did he damage anybody's property the harm done that day was done by the Pueblo Police Department while school was being let out Ward okay forgot who little brother was no okay okay cool right I'm just here to pick up my little brother man I'd like to so I mean who did I just disrupt by trying to get my brother well they said that you were going around trying to uh mess with doors and open up no dude the [ __ ] car looked I thought so what did you do I just want to hear your side of the story man oh you're talking dude I straight up thought that that was my freaking my car that's all it was you thought it was your car over here thought that was my car okay I thought it was my mom I was yelling at her I was yelling at her I thought because I knew she was in there I don't even know that lady yeah I know that's what she was freaking out about right hey but she was like oh but when she started driving I was like oh I was like oh man and I was like lady I'm sorry I was like I did not you know and uh yeah that was the neck that that's what happened okay are you under the influence anything no okay you have an ID with you do you have any weapons do you have any weapons body cam footage reveals that Richard did nothing worthy of being physically pulled out of the car by Deputy mcwhirter if somebody wants to put something in their mouth they're free to do that and that's the action that triggered mcwhirter Richard's fear of cops was proved right and realized the moment McWhorter laid hands on him for no reason 23 seconds after pulling Ward out of the car McWhorter delivered three slugs towards chest ending his time here on Earth drugs are not there was no reason for this to go down this way medication or not addiction or not police should be trained to deal with people in a compassionate understanding and human way no doubt this Deputy has a drug war mentality as an alternative to the way this was handled the cops could have stood around until Christy picked up her son from from school and then watch them drive off the property in order to ensure the safety of parents and children but no they had to go Hands-On and rather than the department reprimanding terminating and jailing cowardly Deputy mcmurder he was awarded a purple heart and get this back in 2018 he received the officer's medal of valor award that's the highest decoration for bravery available to U.S Public Safety officers after he shot a robbery suspect 10 times the previous year the suspect had allegedly pointed a gun at mcmurder and another deputy who shot the accused robber twice who was also given the medal of valor kind of makes you wonder now what really happened in that situation by the way this is Deputy mcmurder's face exactly two minutes and four seconds after delivering three fatal slugs to Richard Ward's chest what's astonishing about this incident is the the conclusion of the critical incident team report they said based on the facts of the investigation conducted by CIT investigators the use of force by Pueblo County Sheriff's deputy Charles McWhorter and Deputy Cassandra Gonzalez are Justified this conclusion is based on interviews of the involved officers civilian witnesses to the incident body worn camera video and crime scene and evidence processing yeah that's the same video that I'm going to link to in the description the fact that you can watch this video and they can watch this video and both of us walk away with a different understanding of what happened is mind-boggling there's no evidence or facts collected to support any criminal wrongdoing by Deputy McWhorter or Deputy Gonzalez during the ois incident the actions taken by the deputies during this ois incident were conducted with the Justified belief that either their lives or the lives of their fellow deputies were in jeopardy so once again officer safety trumps individual rights there's no mention of the safety of the parents or the children on school property just the safety of officers it is my conclusion based on the circumstances that deputy mcmurder and Deputy Gonzalez were justified by the defense of self and defense of others provisions of the law of the state of Colorado and using the actions they employed to defend both themselves and fellow officers from what they reasonably believe to be the imminent use of unlawful physical and deadly force by Richard Ward and they reasonably believe that a lesser degree of force would be inadequate they had reasonable grounds to believe and did believe that they and their fellow officers were in imminent danger of being killed or receiving great bodily injury the actions of the deputies were based on their own observations and perceptions and their actions were reasonable given the facts and circumstances of the situation and the governing law criminal charges against Deputy Charles mcmurder and Deputy Cassandra Gonzalez would not be appropriate and
