You got to admit, doing laundry while eating pizza is very suspicious activity. If you're a brain dead order following cop. >> Well, like I said, I'm asking your partner to call the person who reported back and let them know that they made a false report because this takes up What I also have a problem with is that this city acts like they have no money for the homeless. And this is also part of it. Right now, this is a waste of resources. The money that's being paid for you to stand right here in your hourly wages, your insurance could be used to do something more important around here. >> Okay. Such as? >> Such as resources for the homeless. The showers at the Poly Lofts are currently closed and need to be remodeled. >> Welcome back to another episode of Land of the Free, Home of the Slave. We're going to take a look at this video together and I'll make some comments along the way. >> Would you mind saying what you came here for again? >> Well, I was called because people reported some suspicious activity. >> Like what? >> bit concerned about your children and you won't step outside to talk to me, which makes me even more concerned. >> I'm doing laundry. Uh-huh. Why would there be a concern? >> Well, you're a You're an advocate. >> Yes, I am. >> You ever been arrested in Santa Cruz before? >> No. >> You never had a warrant for your arrest? >> I have nothing that's not taken care of, sir. >> Okay. K U H L? >> Yep. >> Date of birth? >> 11 21 78. This vehicle is registered to me. Feel free to look up my record. >> Sit down. >> I'm curious what's suspicious activity when I bought a pizza and I'm doing my laundry. >> And that is a question that has to be answered. Otherwise, you can't deploy manpower and resources to make this kind of call. It should be based solely on reasonable articulable suspicion that a crime has been committed and they have not articulated anything. >> I'm behind a laundry mat and a pizza parlor, of which I just bought two things. >> here on my own free will and target your RV. I was called here. >> Why I know, but called for what reason? That's a false report. >> A L I C I A. >> Yes, I think you should talk to the person that called you and tell them that they made a false report. Let the person that called you know that they made a false report. >> The last call being ocean injuries like getting personal with you. I don't know. >> And then everybody on the scanner is going to know I'm getting harassed right now. For doing my laundry and buying a pizza. Go get my pizza box. >> And this is harassment and intimidation, make no mistake. This is the implied threat of force has just arrived in the form of two men with guns investigating suspicious activity. >> Go get my pizza box. >> What's going on? >> I was here doing my laundry and buying a pizza for my children having lunch. I'm in the process, as you can see. Would you like to stick your head in here? Um I am folding a [ __ ] ton of laundry because I just got done doing my laundry and >> Never ever consent to allowing a cop to stick his head in a place where you live, ever. It can never go good for you. >> Someone apparently was concerned >> it was such a mess in there. Man, these kids, they're being neglected. They might be getting mistreated. We need to call CPS. >> was concerned over suspicious activity and called you guys out here. >> Yes. Can I explain why we came out here only? Sure, calls like that. >> Well, I mean it doesn't really matter to me. I feel like it's harassment and like basically the investigation's over because I'm doing laundry and I'm not doing anything wrong. >> Okay. And I If that's the case, I totally >> As the cop in the background puts on his James Freeman gloves. >> And I If that's the case, I totally agree with you. We don't plan to bother you, but we just heard that there was children involved, and of course >> Well, I Everybody knows that I have kids, and I'm doing laundry. I'm doing all of our laundry. >> I'm assuming it's somebody who didn't know you that obviously called and wanted just to make sure that everybody was okay. It's not us trying to harass you. We're just >> So, you can't do laundry if you have children? >> I'm I'm I'm not saying that >> Cuz that's suspicious. What part of this is suspicious? >> I'm going to make sure you don't have that warrant still active for your arrest, and then you'll be able to go. >> I have no warrant active for my arrest. >> Go ahead. Okay, you're going to How do you spell your last name? >> K U H L. Alicia. 11 21 78. I take care of everything, sir. >> Like I said, we're not here to harass or bother you either >> As you can see, my registration's brand new. I got full coverage insurance. >> We're not here to harass or bother you as we're here harassing and bothering you. >> child is homeschooled. I take care of everything. Any bothering of me is harassment. >> We're not here to bother you, like I said. We're just here to check up cuz we heard there was kids involved, and that's simple as that. We're not here to harass anybody. We're just here >> Kids involved in what? >> suspicious activity. I'm not saying I don't know what's Whoever Whoever called, I don't know what they >> Like I said, I'm asking your partner to call the person who reported back and let them know that they made a false report. >> And it >> Because this takes up What I also have a problem with is that this city acts like they have no money for the homeless. And this is also part of it. Right now, this is a waste of resources. The money that's being paid for you to stand right here in your hourly wages, your insurance could be used to do something more important around here. >> Okay. Such Such as >> Like apprehending real criminals, real rapists, real murderers, real thieves just for starters officer. >> Resources for the homeless. The showers at the Paul B. Lovett are currently closed and need to be remodeled. Um, the tents at 1220 River are insufficiently sized. The money could be used for a lot of different things. >> I'm not I'm not saying I don't >> Don't take a photograph of me. >> I'm not saying I don't disagree with that. >> I'm inside my home and do not give permission for photographs. That's a violation of privacy, so I'm asking for you to delete that. >> Okay. What I'm What All I'm saying is that I'm not disagreeing with you on those things that need to be fixed, but there are different funding directives. >> Why is your partner taking photographs? >> I am assuming just for documentation purposes that we came and talked to you about a suspicious activity and determined that there was no suspicious activity. >> Then why is he taking photographs? >> The suspicious activity of what? What was the actual call? And if it's not a legitimate call, why are you guys still standing out here? Why did you appear in the first place? You shouldn't have. If there's no logical explanation for what the suspicious activity is and that's in concert with suspicious activity in the commission of a crime, then you should have never showed up. Or you could just stay at the end of the parking lot, make some observations, and not harass an American trying to do her laundry. >> I'm assuming for documentation purposes that we >> Why are you taking photographs? >> When children are involved >> And in laundry? >> Hey, we're clearing here. You are doing laundry. I'm documenting what happened to cover our six because children were reported in this report. We are leaving now, okay? >> So the photographs are for what evidence purposes? >> Documentation. >> To be used in what way? >> Just documentation for I'm going to document it on a little card, turn it in. >> Turn it into where? >> Saying this this is what happened. >> Turn it into where? >> To my department. Okay? >> No problem. I'm going to be making a complaint about this. >> No problem. Thank >> What's your name, sir? >> My name is Officer >> No problem. They don't care because they have qualified immunity. They know the police unions are in their corner. They know the police chief's in their corner, and they don't care. They can trample people's rights. They can harass them. They can interfere with their right to life, liberty, and happiness, and nothing is going to happen to them. They're not going to lose their job. They're not going to lose 1 cent of pay. And if they do get suspended, it will be with pay. >> Officer Cole. >> See you later. >> And your partner? >> My partner's name is Officer Riddle. >> Thank you. >> Okay. Take care. >> So you're satisfied, right? >> Yeah, you're all right, buddy. >> So rather than taking the time to educate the dispatcher and everybody in that police department about what kind of calls should be taken seriously and the fact that there needs to be some kind of substantiation that there's a suspicion that a crime has been committed, there should be no one going out to respond to that call. Everything is hearsay, and the cops observed there was nothing wrong, and yet they decided to step forward and harass this woman anyway, who's just going about the normal pattern of her life, taking care of her kids, doing the laundry, and having some lunch.
