Today we have a video from Cops and Karens and the title of the video is woman arrested by ICE after overstaying her visa for 10 years. >> This is the identification that you presented. >> Okay, that's the wrong one. I didn't look at it. I just put it in my pocket. >> This woman was stopped at a Florida airport after trying to board a flight using a fake ID. But what deputies didn't realize yet was that she had overstayed her visa by more than 10 years and her husband had to. >> So why is that ID wrong? I don't know. Maybe it's because it's the the one that was in my purse. I have I have all of my stuff in my purse. If you go in my purse you'll see it. >> What is wrong with your >> I have two of my IDs. >> Okay, but this isn't a real ID. Why do you have this? >> I only I always have it in my purse. >> Okay, why? >> I always have I just always have it in >> not an excuse. It's a fake ID. You can't have a fake ID in your possession. >> That's not Well, I didn't know that that's only for I didn't even know it was fake. >> How do you not know it was fake? >> I didn't even know it was fake cuz I didn't Cuz I know they said once our ID have Well, at least the person who told me once my ID have all of my information on the ID. Someone told me that they um all I need to do is to go to this Thai place and then they give the Thai place gave me my ID. >> You don't go to some place to get your ID. You go to the DMV to get your driver's license. >> Okay, this place is like a DMV cuz I have two. The one the one I went to what I did was I gave them my passport and they gave me a ID. That's my ID. But then this one right here is my king. I don't know who it was but they said that I you could always get it transferred your stuff to your ID. Just give me my information. So I transferred my stuff. I did the same thing that I transferred my ID from the DMV place to with them with them. >> Where do you normally get your driver's license from the DMV? >> No, you don't. If you go in my purse you'll see it and then if you go in the in the system and call them you'll see they give you ID. >> Call who? What's who's them? >> Um it's called a a Thai agency place but they give you ideas. >> Okay, fair. >> They give you international ID. All you need to do is transfer your passport over. That's me. >> Yeah, I'm going to I have her social security >> What's your >> International ID? Come on, man. I'mma look it up as we watching this video, but there's a there's like a scam that's going around like it's not Yeah, it's like a scam like where they have not not pertaining to this obviously this is the United States completely different, but um peo- like people are under the impression that like you can get like a international ID or international driver's permit or driver's license or whatever and there's no such thing. Like it's just really like some made-up stuff like other countries do not recognize that as an ID. It's passport or nothing. Like that that's how it goes. So, but yeah, I'mma look it up so I can show you guys but while we're watching this, but yeah, she's she's Looney Tunes, man. >> What's your real license? Where's your real license out of? >> My real license is in my purse, but that's the same the same name. >> No, it's from here. >> This is Florida. >> Florida. Well, I don't know it's from here. >> Okay, because we ran your name too and your name doesn't exist either in our system. >> My name is My name is Destinee Lashae Smith. If you see I use two names, why? Because my grandmother um when I was 12 >> Just moments before deputies arrived, the woman had phoned her husband who dropped her off at the airport and was now rushing back to the scene. But deputies were about to find out just like his wife, the husband's visa had been expired for more than a decade. >> And how is it a fake ID that's me? How is it a fake ID that's me and that's my information? You could even go on my son's everything that's me. >> Okay. >> Even my bank account that's me. How is it a fake ID? >> It's a fake ID because it's not real. What's the matter with you? I called the state of Florida, the DL number does not exist. And when we run your name and information that's provided on it, you also don't exist. >> No, I know. >> is how it is a fake ID. It is not real. You did not get it from the state of Florida. That's why you can't possess it. It is illegal to possess a license in the >> I didn't know that. I didn't know that. >> you can't get it from the state of Florida? >> I get it from somebody who said all I need to do or they said they could go to the place and I get a turn over my stuff. I didn't know that. Cuz that's what I did with my purse and my wallet. I took a purse from another chick. But that's what No, not a friend. I didn't know the person. >> We can get customs to assist us. Yes, Janet? They Well, they can figure it out. >> Have you seen the ID yet? >> I saw the ID on there, but I didn't know if it >> Is it Florida ID? >> It's a Florida ID. >> Obviously fake. >> I don't run that. She run it over there. >> I mean, it doesn't look fake. Does it look fake? >> It look fake. >> What was she doing? >> I don't know what she >> Sir. I saw it. Can we go over here? Go over here. >> It's okay. >> I was calling your phone, man. You're just going to have to wait for her. Is she a friend of yours? >> My wife. >> She's your wife? >> Yeah. >> What's going on? She's being detained right now. >> Why? >> Because of her identifications. >> All right. All right. All right. I found it. I found it. I found it. Hold on 1 second. 1 second. This. So, yeah, they got this thing, right? Where this is what it is like international driving permit. Listen, you take this to another country they going to look at you like >> [laughter] >> and you try to rent a car or whatever, they going to look at you like you're nuts. Like >> [laughter] >> Yo, they going to look at you like you're free. Yo. >> [laughter] >> They going to look at you LIKE YOU INSANE. IT'S LIKE THIS little paper booklet thing this thing right here like what? Like got a little photo thing AAA like come on like this [ __ ] and you could get it from AAA like you know that insurance joint. Triple A This is it right here. Like this is supposed to get you some protection or something like this [laughter] [ __ ] Yo, I'm telling you this [ __ ] ain't going to work. Like do not fall for this right here. Do not fall for this. International driver permit like listen the way you could walk around with some ID like the way I do it is um either carry your passport, right? If you don't want to carry your passport then you could carry the passport card. You know what I'm saying? You could carry the passport card and um or you know your you know your driver's license, you know, even though it's from another country it is it's not valid in their country but like people will be able to identify you like correctly. You know what I'm saying? Like they could really you know, it's still a good ID to have but carrying like this or like these fake cuz when she said the reason why I'm even bringing this up is because she said, "Oh, you could go to the Asian lady and they going to give you ID or whatever." Like yo, look you paid 20 bucks for this. >> [laughter] >> And people be bringing this to other countries like and like as if this is a valid ID like no, no, no. One little tip that I learned when I was a older lady taught me when um is that like make like copy your passport. Now, it's not valid. It's not valid, but you know, if you show this to like other police and stuff like that in other countries and stuff, they'll it's still your information. It's still the you know, legit, but like it's just not the original thing. But take your passport, right? Copy your passport, you know what I mean, whatever, and then you could get it laminated. Like make it like a little like credit card size, get it laminated, and boom, you know how you obviously you know do the front and back, you know how your signature on the back. It'll look like your passport, but it's just way smaller. Now, it's not a valid ID, you know what I'm saying? It's not valid, but you could walk around with that versus taking the risk of walking around with your actual passport and losing it. Cuz you going to be sick. If you walk around with your actual passport and you lose it, no, you going to be mad. You know what I'm saying? So, I personally I don't really walk around with my my real passport. Um I either have that with me and I'll have like my driver's license, like from the United States, like okay, boom. You know, cuz that passport, man, yo. Listen, I've been to multiple different countries. That passport is so important and people tell you, "Oh, walk around with your passport." No. No, no, no, no, no. You'll be able to identify me with the things that I got here, like that's it. The only time I take my passport out is like if I'm going to uh get my visa renewed or something like that where I really need it, you know, going to take care of some real business, maybe want to go open up a bank a bank account in whatever country you you know, stuff like that. But just walking around cuz you trying to go to the club and you no. No, no, no, no, no. Hell no. Nope, not doing it. But anyway, let's let's continue, man. >> You told me to hide on the beach. Cuz it didn't seem right. >> Do you know where she's traveling to today by chance? >> Yeah, she's going to New Jersey. >> To New Jersey? >> Yeah, she's accompanying one of her friend that's a flight attendant for layover. They're supposed to be there for 4 hours and come right back. Her friend doesn't want to be alone, so she asked me to come along with her. >> A flight attendant asked you to come with her? >> She's been calling me non-stop since I got off the plane. She lands in about 47 minutes in Pittsburgh. Can we find out for you right now? >> Who's she a flight attendant with? Spirit? >> I can ask her. >> You got to let them know so they don't put your bag on the plane. >> She's probably already gone. >> How's she going to get the bag back? >> I don't know. I got to get the location for that bag. >> Huh? >> Probably have to have it sent back. She's got a flight at 8:00. >> Yeah, flight at 8:00. >> All right. >> Passport, everything I got in the bag. >> Will be able to be removed off the flight. >> Are you here for us? >> I believe so. >> You're not filming? >> Something about a Bahamian passport. >> No, not necessarily. >> All right, then. >> Yeah. >> Here. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Right through here? >> Yeah. >> Can you just pick that up? What's your name, sir? James. >> Have you taken a driving test? >> Yeah, I took a driver's test. I I even have a a driver's thing in the Bahamas. >> Not over here. This is in this state. >> No, I all I did was give them my information from that and then I I turn change it over from my driver's license, I changed it over. You give them your information and you change it over. >> But over here, you know, you're supposed to take a driving test in this state. It doesn't matter if you have it in your country. You're supposed to take a driving test in this state. >> I thought you just give them your all of the your your driver's license and they change it over. >> That's not how it works. >> I never knew that. >> Here in Florida and every US state, completing at least one US driver's test is a basic requirement for a valid driver's license. There's no workaround. Her admission that she did not take any test to effectively confirmed what deputies already believed. The driver's license she presented [music] was not lawfully issued. Now, it was only a matter of time until immigration would arrive on scene. >> I'll be uh >> I think that person that you showed me is >> Are they Hey, um you said it's not real. So, we got we got CI coming out. They're probably going to talk to her and got the fingerprints and that's good. I got to do whatever it is cuz I think they might be done with her in a minute. I was hoping they could take her prints, but because it's not an international flight type of issue, they technically can't. And any other only other thing we could do is just contact ICE. Let's see if they want to do anything. >> The deputies now escorted the woman into a private room where a female deputy began questioning her about how she got the fake ID. And if her explanation didn't start making sense fast, she was going to be turned over to ICE, who were already working the airport and looking for her. >> The place where you go for help, they say I can use a TIN number. There's ways to get around things and that's issued to me and my name. Okay. So, that's wise me. I issued myself as a business and that's why I obtained it. So, I can use it as a social because that's the law. >> Okay. >> That's why I did not I I did >> A TIN number? Tax identification number? She said she registered herself as a business? Like what? She is nuts. No, you tried to pull a fast one. You tried to pull a fast one, man. And ID's like that may work for little establishments like as like you're trying to get into the bar, you're trying to do things like that. You're not getting through the airport with something like that. Like, no, it's not happening. >> Everything by the law. That's why I get what I get. Nothing is fake, nothing is The only thing I did not know was that the place I issued the last time which was with the ID I gave y'all is not where I never got that. And the other issue place that doesn't want to answer, I didn't know that either because they say they issue ID. >> Okay, so before I even ask you questions, I have to read you your rights, right? Since you know how it works, right? Since you've been here. So, I'm going to read you and you when you hear the question, you either say yes, I understand or no. All right? So, you have the right to remain silent and to refuse to answer questions. What's your birth name? >> I don't know. I don't know which one was it. I mean, I'm just finding out when I was 13 when I went to go and get my passport renewed because someone broke into the car and took the passport. >> Mhm. >> So, they didn't just take the passport, they they took my whole purse. >> What kind of passport do you have? >> It was a Bohemian passport. >> Why don't you have an American citizen's passport? >> I'm not an American citizen. I wasn't born over there. >> Okay, so >> I don't know. You have to be born over there to get that passport. >> So, usually when you don't have a citizenship, they'll say it on your driver's license. >> Yeah, I didn't know that. >> Well, that That You want to know what that tells me? That this is this is fake. >> Okay, cuz I didn't know that. >> By now, one thing was clear. The suspect's story wasn't add not. If she kept doubling down on the same unconvincing excuses and lies, she was going to be handed over to ICE, who would be more than happy to take custody of her. >> All right, so where did you get this? >> I got that from the same type of place that this is from. >> place? >> There was a guy standing out there out of the side of the place that asked me. >> Did you go into a legitimate business? >> I went into a business for the other one. >> What What's this >> The the business the other ID I told y'all to go and look for. It's in my bag in my It's in my phone and it's in my purse. So, when y'all see y'all get it, but they say it's not real. But, it is real. >> This one's not real. >> It is issued. I The same thing this I did the same thing to get that one. >> I know, but I'm asking [clears throat] a question about this. This is not real. >> No, I >> How do you know this is not real? >> Because y'all told me it wasn't real. That's how I know it wasn't real. It's an ID. They say any form of ID. >> This is not an ID. This is a driver's license. >> So, the guy that I met outside of the place told me that this the one I have would work, but then I still going to need an ID for a state ID. They say they can give me that, but all I need to do is do the same thing I did to them. Give me my passport information and then pay them money and then they're going to bring me one. >> I got a question. The same thing. Is this a real driver's license? You have a real driver's license. How do you know? >> It looks like the same. >> It looks the same. Then, if that's the thing, why are you telling me that this is not real? >> Because if I told you it wasn't real. >> But, if it's If you know that it's real, you be the >> Man, look. This where she going right here, man. This where she going right here. >> [laughter] >> This right where she going to be at. One of them bunk beds, right here, man. Her and her husband. That's a fact. They going to be sleeping What? >> [laughter] >> This is right where she going to be detained at, man. Shh. >> [laughter] >> Yep, carry on. Get your ass up out of here. >> defending that. You be like, "Oh, no, that's that's her real driver's license. I will defend till the end of time." >> I don't believe anything the police say. >> I will defend till the end of time that this is a real driver's license. >> But, I'm I'm going to go >> I tell you right now that the The necklace right now is fake. The necklace you have on right now is fake. >> Well, if you're not a jeweler, then I wouldn't believe you. But, if you are a jeweler, I'm going to believe you. >> How do you know what I know? about you? >> Because you're a jeweler. >> Exactly. >> You went to school for it. >> But how do you know if I'm not a jeweler on the side? >> So anyone anyone tells you, you're going to believe >> Because they they claim. >> Doesn't matter. >> It does matter. >> It doesn't matter. >> It does. >> No, because if you knew if you knew If you knew that you went the proper way to receive a driver's license and you paid the money for it. You should stand with your with your gun going, "No, this is real." This is real. >> I don't know anything about America like that. So if >> How long have you been here? >> I've been here from I was 22. >> And how many years is that? I don't I don't know who you are. >> Um I think 14. >> 14 years? How did you get here? >> I got here on a plane. >> So you flew from where? >> The Bahamas. >> Okay. So you've been here 14 years. And the person you're traveling with is who? >> My daughter. Um you mean now? >> Where is your daughter? >> The person who I'm traveling with who I traveled with over here? >> Who's your daughter? >> I'm asking you which question are you asking me the >> You're not running this interview. You're not running this interview. >> I am. >> Who is your daughter? >> You asked me a question so I wanted to answer it. >> And you brought up something that wasn't in the topic of >> You asked me who did I travel with when I came. So I said my daughter. >> Okay. So you traveled with her when you came. >> Yes, she was a child. >> Is that >> ask you a question. Why are you being repulsive? >> I'm not. I'm questioning. I'm asking you >> I'm being respectful and I I >> So you haven't I haven't been disrespectful. I haven't been rude. I've been asking you >> a little bit. I'm not being mean, but I only thought you asked me who I traveled with. I wanted I I don't really understand um when you say things just like that. It has to be specific. That's why I asked >> So the man that's here is who? >> It's her father. >> That's her dad. >> Yeah. >> Where did you meet him? >> In the Bahamas. >> Okay. >> I was 17. >> Got you. >> Apparently, she'd been in the United States for about 14 years and her records suggest her visa had been expired for more than a decade. Still, she doubled down claiming she had come to the US with her 2-year-old daughter to join her husband who had gotten his visa first and somehow obtained a tax ID she'd been using for money transactions [music] ever since. But when she realized she wasn't convincing anyone that the ID was real, she switched tactics and started blaming law enforcement. >> Having this is a big problem. >> I didn't know that. >> I know. >> I did not. The only reason I know that is because they looked it up and said it's not going to be a blaster it's impossible. >> Okay. So this is fake, right? And with all the things going on this is a big problem. >> I didn't know it was fake. >> Very big problem. And then you don't have citizenship here, right? >> Well, the other one is the same thing. That means that one is fake, too. So I I don't understand how y'all allowed people to be open with tiger agency doing all this and that it's fake. >> Allowing I didn't allow anybody. >> No, not you but the government. >> Well, that's that's that's what we're talking about scamming. >> But it's it's government issued. But it's it's government issued. They have it on their information on there online saying that they give everything. >> Okay, so what's the other thing that you said that's fake? >> They said the other one is fake. >> What is it? I haven't seen it. >> It's a um >> I mean it's a that's a that's a >> It's the same thing. It's a I It's no it's it's issued from here. Okay. No, it's issued from here. It's a It's a American ID not a Bahamas it's just international. >> Who has that in your bag, right? >> Yeah, it's in my bag and my phone and they said it's fake, too. So I'm like well now if this is fake that is also fake cuz I did the same thing. >> Okay. >> I I literally went and looked up things that I can get around things. They said there's laws around everything and I just have to do it legitimately and that's what I did but I never knew that. >> In the Bahamas they don't have like an American embassy? >> They do have an American embassy. >> That's the problem when to go from one country to the other you have to apply in the American embassy. >> I know when I came over here and I and I was in the um But I went to embassy. I have a embassy thing that came over the right way. I came over through airplane. I didn't come on a boat. I didn't get smuggled. >> Even if you're not if you don't go to the American embassy, you can still fly. You can still come whatever >> know. In in my passport, you will see in when in the system that I have an American um visa. I came over with my visa. >> How long was it for? >> I don't know. The only thing that is when I came >> That's very important because when you're given the visa, they tell you how long. They'll say 2 months, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years. >> They don't tell you that. They tell you in your um on your passport. They stamp it or something >> have a passport. You have to apply for a new one. >> Yeah, they tell you about that. >> After more than 30 minutes of the same excuses, deputies had had enough and decided it was time to bring in the feds. The moment she heard them mention ICE, her whole demeanor changed because she knew what it meant. >> You just got to tell her ICE is coming up. >> Yes. >> Okay. That's the one over here in the Hollywood office. >> All right. >> Excuse me. I have >> You have a son. Come here. >> I have a son. >> Sure. >> Sorry? I've done ICE before. I can't I can't go back. >> That's not our decision, though. >> ICE knew that ICE is going to cause me to be on the line. I I already explained that to you. That's the reason why I came with my daughter. >> The woman was handed over to ICE that day. At the last reported update, she remained in custody after every motion she filed in court seeking release was [music] dismissed. Her husband never became the subject of the criminal investigation on scene. [music] It was only later, after records were checked through immigration databases, that authorities [music] learned the truth. His visa had also been expired for more than a decade. There's no public confirmation of deportation [music] yet, but follow my channel for any update. >> Oh, boy. Mhm. Insane, man. Insane what's up with these people. Anyway, we got the Jailhouse Accountability Scorecard, man. We got six categories: compliance, attitude, self-control, truthfulness, safety risk, wasted chances, man. Golly. Mhm. The closer you are to zero, the better you did. The closer you are to 10, more of a crash out, all right? So, compliance, six out of 10. She stayed mostly cooperative, um physically, but kept arguing the same points after deputies explained the problem, all right? Attitude, five out of 10. She wasn't wildly disrespectful, but she got defensive and tried to talk around direct questions, all right? She wasn't you know, rah-rah, you know, it wasn't all of that rah-rah-ness, but >> [gasps] >> she kind of did it in a calm manner, I should say. Uh anyway, self-control, five out of 10. Um she held it together at first, but started panicking once ICE came up, okay? The attitude did change when ICE came up. Um truthfulness, nine out of 10. The story about the ID, names, the license process, and how she got everything did not add up. Nine out of 10, man. Safety risk, two out of 10. She did She did not appear violent or physically aggressive, so this score stays low, all right? She wasn't rah-rah, you know, all of that type of stuff. Um so, it was pretty calm, two out of 10 for that. Wasted chances, eight out of 10. Deputies gave her multiple chances to explain the ID clearly, and every answer made it worse. Final jail score, 35 out of 60. Converted score 5.8 out of 10, okay? She's a little sneaky thing. She's not the loud and and she's not that type of character, right? But, she is sneaky and she likes to play dumb, okay? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section below and I'mma catch you in the next video. >> [music] [music] [music]
