5th, 2025 in Rotterdam, New York. Rotterdam police were dispatched to a Hannaford grocery store for a shoplifting in progress. Store security had stopped a man and a woman after surveillance cameras showed them moving through the aisles and concealing grocery items inside the bottom of a stroller occupied by a 3-year-old child. Officers arrived on scene, separated the adults, and began their investigation as store employees explained what had been observed and documented the merchandise involved. >> First thing I want you to do for me is to let mom know she she is in custody with me right now. I'm just not putting her in custody for the sake of the child. Can you just let her know that? Do you want to come in and shut the door just cuz I had don't have her in custody at all? So, do they have somebody that can come pick up the child? That's >> It's just her. It's just her. >> She has no one to come pick the child up. I can Ask her if she has identification on her. No identification. >> Oh, she said she has it in her bag in the car. And if I get She said in the parking lot. >> This parking lot? >> In Ethic. >> What ask her Yeah. There is there is a key in the car. >> Gray. >> Gray. >> [clears throat] >> You want to go check? Let her know he's going to go find the bag. What does the bag look like? You should see the car around the street. >> It says it's black. >> I'm going to go get her ID >> Let her know he's going to go get her bag. What does the bag look like? >> It's black. >> He's going to go, you're going to stay. >> I'm going to go get her out of here, but I don't know if I can. >> All right. Can you ask him what his name is? >> My name is Michael. >> Michael? >> Como se llama? >> Yeah, that's not babe, that's not basic Spanish right there. Uh, you learn that in Spanish one in high school. But uh, anyway. You know what? This is refreshing. I ain't going to lie. This is refreshing to see something in New York. We hardly ever get footage out of New York. Um, you know. So, this is Upstate New York, Rotterdam. That's like Schenectady area, Albany area. Like it's over over there. You know what I'm saying? But yeah, man. Hannafords, that's a Upstate grocery store. Um, you know, you're not going to find Hannafords in like New York City. I know everybody thinks New York, when people say New York, they only think about New York City. Oh, where you from? Brooklyn? Bronx? Like like New York There's much more to New York than just New York City. That is just one part of New York. But anyway, shout out Upstate, man. Rotterdam, okay? Got the immigrants up there, all right. >> By the suspects, it became clear both adults were non-citizens. The male suspect, identified as 38-year-old Michael Garcia Rojas, presented foreign identification indicating prior service as a police officer in Nicaragua. The female suspect, Maria Duque Muriel, a Colombian national, remained with the child inside the store's security room. With no clear local policy for handling undocumented suspects involved in a low-level theft and a young child present, officers contacted supervisors to determine next steps, expanding the scope of the incident beyond a routine retail arrest. >> Police? >> Got have police ID? Felicia? >> Policia? You police in my country? >> You are? >> In my country. >> He says in his country he's a police officer. >> In my country he police here. >> You police in your country? >> I am a police in my country. >> Yeah. He was, yeah. >> From my country. >> How long? Huh? >> Five year old. >> Five What? Five years. >> Okay. Uh his ID? Yeah, he's a police officer apparently in his country for five years. Um I'm kind of torn as to I mean he says he's got ID and You know, well, we'll call you and ask. The only thing he has is this. The language barrier and the fact that they both stole and they have the kid there. So, if you see what he wants to do, if you want to have them call Do you want to Do you want to call them up? I'll call them. >> I'm going to in the front. I have to. >> Damn, y'all going to Trump Island, boy. That's a fact. I don't Well, I don't know what they really call it or whatever, but you know where the cages is at, you know, Trump revamped it or whatever. Uh but yeah, y'all going to Trump Island, man. I'mma just call it Trump Island. I don't know what you know, the thing I think it's surrounded by water or something like that. Yeah, y'all going over there. >> [laughter] >> They sending y'all right down there, boy. They sending y'all right down there for something so petty. You already know that you you know, your paperwork not right, you know, whatever. And you just stealing something so petty and you Yeah, you send send you right back the way you came from, man. Try it again. You got over here the first time. But, yeah, go take that journey again, man, because I remember when was in Colombia I was visiting Colombia and stuff like that. And you know, people have told me like they it's so bad there for like the locals for for the locals and stuff like that that you know, it's not like uh how should I say it? It's not like like here in a lot of these countries it's not like here in America where like yes, you can come from poverty. You could come from you know, the bottom, you know, and work your way up. You could work your way into middle class or into high high middle class and stuff like that and even become rich coming from being poor where where in in a lot of these other countries whatever you're born as is kind of where you're going to stay and you don't really have the resources like that to move up a class you know, you you could you know, you could be born poor in the projects, right? Go to school, do this, do that, whatever start or you know, whatever start your own business whatever and you can move yourself from being poor, which that's what you were born as poverty level, right here in the United States and you can move yourself into middle class into that 60,000 [snorts] a year, you know what I mean? 50, 60, 70,000 a year and you could keep grinding and work your way into that 100 plus a year and up, you know? Where in a lot of these other places if you were born poor you're going to prob- most likely remain poor because you can't even do schooling or anything like like you you can't that's it. So their lives is so messed up that they would rather risk their lives to come and try to sneak into another country like the United States. New York is you know, Florida has has a big immigration problem, Texas, um New York, you know, big immigration problems. Like you you go down to the city you go to Queens and stuff it might look like you was in Colombia, okay? They out there like it's it's crazy, you know, it's a long route. They go through multiple countries and and you know, a lot of them don't make it but a select few do and they made it into the country and um to do something like this and now have to get sent back to Colombia or Nicaragua wherever the guy is from to get sent back and now have to try to make it again without getting caught. Cuz if you get caught now you you in trouble, you know, and you may not get caught. You know, in the United States you can get caught in one of these other countries before you make it here, you know? It's it's it's a whole ordeal, man. It's it's crazy. It's crazy. So, I say that to say this, I see why people from other countries want to come to the United States. But you come here, you mess up, you cause trouble send your ass right back to where you came from, man. See you because there's plenty of people from that country that do things the right way. You know, now I'm not saying it's easy for Colombians to come to the United States, it's not. But there's a select few that there's a right way and a wrong way to do it is what I'm saying pretty much. >> What do we want? How is this a short ride? Does she have questions for us? I should ask her if she has questions. They think that you're they're going to take her away. We're going to the We're going to the same place. Yep. Yep. So, our police cars Uh who does she ask for like for her daughter once she gets there? We're going to go We're going to get there at the same time. Okay. We'll We We will follow their car so you know it's right in front of us. Then we will pull up at the same time. You can walk out with her. You can hold her hand I cuffed you in front so you can walk out with her, okay? Yep. You can hold her hand and walk out with her. Does she have mom's phone maybe she can watch the TV show so she's occupied and doesn't get scared? Is this your wrist bands? You're going to use the phone, right? I think I just fold this up. Yeah, take it. We're not We're she's being She's going to get back We are not taking your child. I don't know what they're doing. Ice might but not rather than police. That is what you what he's trying to say. Is is what he said trying to say. Man, look. You still in front of grocery store just go down to the food pantry, man. They be giving out stuff for free. Come back in >> Following supervisory guidance, a detective contacted US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. That notification triggered mandatory federal involvement under the Laken Riley law, which requires detention of undocumented immigrants accused of certain crimes, including theft. Police records show the total value of the stolen groceries was $159.07, including staple food items concealed in the stroller. What would normally have resulted in an appearance ticket now became an immigration hold. Garcia-Rojas was transferred to ICE custody, where authorities later alleged he became violent and assaulted a federal agent. >> What? >> Yeah, welcome to America. They giving them that welcome to America. >> [snorts] >> Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. We call that that that's that welcome to America right there. Dude, wait. >> [snorts] >> First >> All right. I'm going to tell you what I'm going to tell you guys. Stop moving. around his waist. >> [laughter] [laughter] >> All right, let me go around. Oh, this must be ice that came and grabbed them. Oh, yeah, ice cream. >> was placed into deportation proceedings, resulting in her separation from the child involved in the incident. Garcia Rojas faces charges related to the retail >> Wait, wait, what? What? >> Duque Murillo was placed into deportation proceedings, resulting in her separation from the child involved in the incident. Garcia Rojas faces charges related to the retail theft, along with an additional federal charge for assaulting an ICE agent after being transferred into custody. The case highlights how a misdemeanor level theft in a grocery store led to arrest, ICE detention, and deportation consequences, underscoring the expanding role of immigration enforcement in everyday policing. If you want >> Man, good job. Good job. Good job. I I I don't think I've ever seen this this channel before. Hold on, let me see something. Let's see what kind of content they got going on. Man, for them to get New York footage, I I think it's pretty great. I don't know if they uh Oh, they don't post a lot. Oh, well, [ __ ] 500,000 views, they don't got to post a lot. 500,000 Oh, they did 600K? Oh, nah. They getting Yeah, I see why they don't post a lot. Oh, well, now now it's slowing up. 1.9. Oh, yeah, it's starting to slow up, but See, yeah, 6 months, 5 months, you can't you got to post a little bit more frequent than that. But yeah, they did they did pretty good, man. Did pretty good. I ain't going to lie. Shh. Damn. If I get a video with 500K, oh my goodness. A video with 600K, that would be insane, man. That would be literally insane. See, yeah, reaction channels, it's a little bit more difficult, you know. Everybody only they don't want to they don't care what somebody has to say. They just want to see the footage, you know what I mean? But anyway, um yeah, this was a good one, man. I you know, I like that you know, it was New York. You know what I'm saying? Like we don't see too much from New York, you know, at all. Let me know how many NYPD things you see. None. Like none. You know why? Because it cost so much. So, you know, what people don't really understand is that yes, um FOIA itself is free, all right? But what the what police departments do is they charge you for like a like a research fee, right? So for every minute it's going to be X amount of dollars, you know, for them to go research and find find it and all that other stuff. Like it's just crazy. It It's It's literally insane. So if you ever see any of these body cams where you see like Sarasota um you know, stuff like that. Like Sarasota is crazy expensive. So like trust me, I know cuz I I I got two body cam footages from number four cuz I used to I used to want to do this. Like just do the body cam. Um you know, on my second channel you'll see the like the beginning kind of video and I still got body cam like regular body cam footages that I've never like put out or whatever. But um yeah, these these it's crazy. It's crazy It's so expensive. Super super expensive that you know, some of these bigger channels are paying for it or they have a plug, you know, they got a plug like somebody to hook them up, throw them a bone, you know what I mean? But uh Anyways, um oof. Damn, man. Yep, go back to Colombia and Nicaragua and try again. >> Everything heavy but you [music] make it feel so light. Yeah, you make it feel light. >> [music and singing] >> Just lie with it. Keep it light. >> [singing] >> Late night drive. >> [music] >> Don't be shy.
