You're not letting me out of here. You're not letting me out of here. I need to be free to go. >> We're going to let you out of here. I need to know where you are. >> No. No, no, you're not. This is not a stop and ID state. Michigan is not. He won't let me out. He thinks you guys are going to make me let you look in here. That's what they think by calling y'all. So, they tried to get a response and they got it. They got it. Lucas, right Lucas? You said you're going to get a response, right? >> How do you go about handling an illegal, or more importantly, unconstitutional detention? What if you want to leave an area, but a group of people won't let you leave unless you let them go through your vehicle. After picking up a DoorDash order, a driver was blocked from leaving a gated Menards outdoor materials area. And apparently, Menards has a posted policy requiring vehicle and trunk inspections before customers exit the lumber yards and the gated areas. The guy was just there to pick up a DoorDash order for his customer. He never exited his vehicle, but Menards employees labeled him suspicious and demanded to search his car. The employees were holding him in this area against his will. He refused to let him search his car, and when they weren't able to bully him into submission, they called men with guns to escalate the situation. Cuz that's what heroes do. Right, Lucas? And as we've learned about cops, if they're good at anything, it's deception, manipulation, escalation, and violation. When the cops arrive, they try applying the bully pressure on the driver as well. But, this guy knows his rights, stands up for his rights, and just won't budge. All right, let's go through this and we'll make some comments along the way. >> You know, this guy right here, he won't let me leave. I have no clue why. Zoom in on his name Cameron. No, I don't. I do not have no contractual agreement. You need to You need to lift the gate or else I'm going to lift it myself. Well, you're You're not going to hold me in here. I'll tell you that much, you're not going to. I'm I'm telling you right now, if you need to move this [ __ ] I don't give a [ __ ] about that. They'll tow my ass. You kidnapping me. You're not searching my car. I DON'T CARE. I'M NOT DOING IT. I'M NOT I DON'T CONSENT TO THAT. YOU'RE GOING TO LET ME THE [ __ ] out of here. HE CAN CALL THE COPS. HE CAN HOLD EVERYBODY UP. I'M RECORDING EVERYTHING. I have a right to cuss at you. You won't [ __ ] with me. I'm not coming back here. Trust me. I won't YOU CAN TAKE DOWN THE LICENSE PLATE. YOU CAN WRITE IT DOWN. TAKE A PICTURE ON YOUR Let me the hell out of here. Well, no, I'M NOT CUZ I BECAUSE I DON'T BECAUSE I DON'T CONSENT to any searches or seizures. Don't give a [ __ ] I don't work for y'all. Let me out of here. Not coming back here, but you can call whoever you want to. I'm not I don't care. I'm not What's your name and badge number, please, sir? No, right there doesn't work. What you say? >> Deputy Mason. >> Which badge number? >> 4497. >> And what And what is his badge number over there? I need to know his. You don't need to know everybody's name and badge. I'm not giving my name. I didn't commit a crime. They're not letting me out of here. They're not letting me out of here. I need to be free to go. >> We can let you out of here. >> I need to know who you are. >> No, no, no, you're not. Because I'm Because hey, this is not a stop and ID state. Michigan is not. I got my first amendment to state to stay secure in my privacy. They don't want to let me out of here because they have some rule where you have to check the back, which is fine. That's a rule. That has nothing to do with me. I came in here to pick up a DoorDash. Picked it up right here in the passenger seat. You can see it. I never got out of the car. I sat in the car the whole time. Never got out of the car. The person handed it to me through the window. And then when I got here, he was like, "Well, we got to check the back of your car." No, no, no, sir, you're not checking my car. >> And think about this, even if the store has a policy where we do we need to check your receipt, we need to look through your car and make sure you didn't steal anything, you can just walk right by him. You are not beholden to submit yourself to their policy. Now, if you're at a wholesale club like Sam's or Costco, where you've agreed to do that, then that's part of the agreement. But in like a regular store or Menards where they have a policy, hey, we got to search your vehicle, you got to open your trunk, you got to let us search through there, make sure you didn't steal anything. If you're not under a contractual obligation, you don't have to submit to their policies. And the cops can't make you submit to that store's policy. >> No, no, no, sir, you're not checking my car. And I get that they have whatever they have going on here, but that's not happening. They're going to let me out of here. If they don't want me here, I won't come back here, but they going to let me out of here. I didn't commit a crime, you're not getting my ID. Huh? No. No, you can see him right there. See, that's the door dash order. Can you see door dash order on my phone? No, cuz I'm recording. Door dash order. You can talk to him. You can talk to Cameron who brought it to me. Cameron who works here, not that fat [ __ ] but Cameron back there who works there. He brought the door dash order. Sir, you're a public servant. You're you're a bound by your policy to give your name. Me, I'm a private citizen who didn't commit a crime. But I But you can then call me a human then. Just call me sir. Just call me sir. Sir works just fine. Cuz you don't need to know my name, like No, you're not getting my Sir, once again, why do y'all try this stuff? Like I'm a very But I hear you. I just told you what's going on. They they want to look in the back of my car and they're not going to. And I want to leave. >> You know, for public servants who swear to protect your rights, why is it they excel at steamrolling over those rights? You have the right to be secure in your person. You have the right to safeguard your privacy, and they have no right to pry you away from your privacy. And they do it with the implied threat of force every single time. >> But I hear you. I just told you what's going on. They they want to look in the back of my car and they're not going to. And I want to leave. I would like to be allowed to go. That's why I need to be allowed to go. No, not answering anything. I'm not answering questions cuz I don't answer anymore. I'm going to I'm going to remain silent until you guys let me go. That's what I'm going to do. He won't let me out. He thinks you guys are going to make me let you look in here. That's what they think by calling y'all. So, they tried to get a response and they got it. They got it. Lucas, right Lucas? You said you're going to get a response, right? You're going to get a response, right Lucas? They want me gone. I'm leaving. I'm trying to leave. He told me not to come back. I said, "I'm not coming back, but you're not going to get my ID." That's not how the law works. That's not how the trespass works. And I'm going to sue him like you charge is only filed because you called police for no reason because you are holding me illegally for now almost going on 15-20 minutes. >> Yeah, if anybody should be arrested, it should be the employees who called the cops and had men with guns arrive on scene to take care of a situation that they were unable to bully somebody into complying with. >> Because 5 minutes before this started you held me. So, like I said, my lawyer going to have a field day with this [ __ ] So, who's going to let me go? Are you going to let me go? They held me illegally, right? They are holding me illegally. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I I want Oh, yeah. They're holding me illegally. Yep. under that deal. I'm Yeah, but I don't mean I have to but I don't mean I got to let them search my [ __ ] though because I'm not getting on a plane and nor am I willing to do business with them. I'm not doing business with them. I would like to be gone. You wanted to see himself on Facebook. You're going to. Trust me. Trust me. You'll get to see yourself on the Facebook, Lucas. You will. You will You'll be everywhere. When I'm done with this you guys are going to be everywhere. The only people who are being professional is unfortunately these guys and I usually don't like them, but they're doing their damn job properly cuz they're not coming here and beating the hell like you thought they were going to do. Like they they should be beating the hell out of y'all because y'all are illegally detaining somebody. And the Supreme Court said we shall and can resist an illegal detainment. So, technically I could have ran through the blockade. And anything that went up a result of it would have been on them because they're illegally detaining me. Says the Supreme Court. >> This guy is on fire. His knowledge needs to spread like wildfire. >> I know my laws. So, can I leave now? >> Soon. >> No, I need to leave. I need to leave. I need to leave. I TOLD YOU, I'M GETTING THE [ __ ] OUT OF HERE. I TOLD YOU, I'M LEAVING. YOU WILL NEVER HOLD ME HOSTAGE. YEAH! >> [screaming] >> AS IS THE CASE with most states, you're not required to show your ID unless the cops reasonably suspect that you've committed a crime. And they have to articulate the crime they think you committed. And it's got to be based on objective, articulable fact. And if you want to get down to brass tacks, according to the Constitution, these guys need probable cause, which is a higher standard that you've committed a crime. They didn't have any of that. The guy didn't show his ID. He stood on his rights. They opened the barrier, and he left. Access to your constitutionally protected rights denied. I want to hear what you have to say about this. Would you have done the same thing? Would you have stood up for your rights? Would you have the knowledge to put it back on the cops as they're trying to violate your rights? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below. I want to hear what you have to say.
