I'm asking you a question you're not now doing your job are you sir you're putting on music when I'm trying to talk to you can you turn that off it's a little ridiculous can you please turn that off I just know it can't be posted on YouTube music down I want to go to bed hey what's going on what's going on have some respect Corporal have some respect Corporal you're in our neighborhood playing my music so that we can both [ __ ] each other you're saying your neighborhood have some respect what's going on with the music channel which is uh [Music] no he's lying to you he's lying to you why are you doing it why yes because maybe copyright infrastructure because he knows I have a YouTube channel any attempt by any public servant including any member of any Police Department to keep you from successfully recording them as they carry out their duties is a direct violation of your right to exercise the freedom of the press and therefore it's a direct attack on the foundation of America when they make an effort to obstruct your right to record we can only assume that they're engaged in an activity that is not only questionable but possibly criminal these obstruction techniques include shining a light in your camera lens and in your eyes blocking your view with their vehicles or with their bodies creating an unnecessary perimeter with caution tape and their favorite new technique blasting copyrighted music to keep you from being justly compensated for disseminating public interest stories about local public servants a California police department has launched an investigation into its own officers who are filmed blaring copyrighted Disney music in attempts to prevent residents from recording them the incident in question occurred during a vehicle search on the night of April 4th when residents in Santa Ana near Los Angeles woke up to a series of Disney songs being blasted outside their Windows according to a video posted by Santa Ana audits the songs emerged from a police cruiser that belonged to police officers who were investigating this stolen vehicle in the video a woman can be heard asking the officers what's the music for explaining to the officers that she was unable to sleep hey what's good hey what's going on what's going on have some respect corporal have some respect corporal you're in our neighborhood this ain't your neighborhood have some respect exactly why they're recording like playing loud music for like that but cops do not care about disturbing your piece while they would hypocritically issue you a citation for doing exactly what they do Jonathan Hernandez a Santa Ana city councilman is later seen in the video asking the police officers hey guys what's going on with the music here an unnamed officer told Hernandez that he was playing the music from his phone and on the Cruiser's PA system in an attempt to prevent a resident who was recording him from continuing to do so the officer explained that it had to do with copyright infringement Hernandez went on to ask the officer if he knew who he was to which the cop replied you're a city council person what is going on you guys tell them to have respect guys what's going on tell them to have respect what's going on with your music channel which is uh Mr uh why are you playing Disney music why yes okay he's no he's lying to you he's lying to you why are you doing it why yes because it would be copyrighted question for you because he knows I have a YouTube channel you're using our resources you know who I am uh no you do I do I do no I did recognize what do I do what do I do you're a city council person absolutely and this is my district yes you gotta hand it to Hernandez for standing up to this cop officers who do this kind of thing on camera leave that thought in every rational person's mind that asks the question if you're gonna act like this when the cameras are rolling what the heck are you involved in when you don't think you're being recorded the officer then apologized repeatedly to Hernandez and to the individual filming the incident I apologize you're not going to conduct yourself like that in front of my neighbors apologize to him I apologize your car and do your job properly I am please okay I'm embarrassed okay that this is how you're treating my neighbors there's children there have some respect for my community are you do you live here do I live in Santa Ana no I don't well maybe you should treat us with respect here but my people live here brother please treat them with respect there's kids that need to go to school okay there's people that are working here to use our taxpayer dollars to disrespect okay man with your music that's childish so okay I apologize again yes okay in a statement to the Washington compost pile Hernandez explained that his neighbors were afraid and confused by the behavior he added that he found it ironic that the police were playing songs from Encanto and Coco in a mostly Latino neighborhood Hernandez said those were films that were used to bridge the Latino community and police are using them to silence us the Santa Ana Police Department has responded to the incident saying that it's investigating the officers involved they said we are committed to serving our community and we understand the concerns as it relates to the video the Santa Ana Police Department takes seriously all complaints regarding the service provided by the department and the conduct of its employees our department department is committed to conducting complete thorough and objective investigations the incident reflects an apparently growing Trend in which police officers play copyrighted music in order to prevent videos from being posted on social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram which can in turn remove the videos that include unauthorized content last July a police officer in Oakland California was filmed a blasting Taylor Swift's blank spaces as he was confronted by several activists on the steps of a courthouse are you playing pop music to drowned out the conversation why what I just know it can't be posted on YouTube so can you say it again for the camera it is playing my music so that we can both [ __ ] joke also in February of last year a person who filmed his visit to the Beverly Hills police station where he sought to obtain body camera footage encountered an officer who began playing sublime's Santeria watch how this cop acts I'm asking you a question you're not now doing your job are you sir you're putting on music when I'm trying to talk to you can you turn that off it's a little ridiculous can you please turn that off people are watching barely hear you through the glass I hear you like that now it's me and you I didn't hear what you said earlier what is it what does it actually mean to you well that I mean if you follow me no I see you're doing that what he's doing is he's playing music to try to make it what are you doing by playing music why are you playing music well then turn down your music you didn't turn on your music that doesn't make sense does it maybe you should put your body cam on maybe the body cam should have been on earlier we're in the active crime scene right there's a chopper in there Sergeant fairs nobody cam I'm done done with you we routinely hear cops say that members of the public who don't want to answer their questions if you have nothing to hide you tell me what I want to know or you let me search your vehicle or your house in other words if you don't back off of your freedoms and let me violate you I'm gonna assume you're a criminal what should we assume about cops who don't want us recording their actions and conversations as they interact with the public I mean didn't they take an oath to protect these rights we're all supposed to have leave your thoughts about this in the comment section below if you haven't done so already subscribe to this channel hit the Bell
