I'm someone who checks up on the government, and it's suspicious to me that you're so worried about the people putting cameras on you. What are you doing wrong? >> God damn. >> Hey, I'm Brian. Welcome back to the channel. Isn't it interesting how government agents act when we turn our cameras on them like they enjoy using them against us. In a world filled with Indians, if Americans want real freedom in this country, we really need more chiefs to protect those freedoms. >> I'm the chief. >> Great. We've arrived at the source. Now we're getting somewhere, but this guy wouldn't just willy-nilly start demanding ID, would he? >> I need your ID. Can I have your ID, please? >> Hold on 1 second. Let me get my lawyer for you. >> I don't need your lawyer. I need your ID. >> That will get you in a lot of trouble. >> I need your ID. >> I'm asking you for your ID. >> I need your ID. >> Well, I'm asking [snorts] you to identify yourself, sir. >> All right. I'm man enough to admit I was wrong. At this point, we can only hope that the chief won't pull the old in this day and age excuse in order to extract that ID. >> In the in today's day and age, I think I have the right to ask you for to identify yourself. >> He did this day and age. This is the great James Freeman. >> How you doing? >> Good. How are you? >> Something I can help you with? >> No, I'm good. Thanks. >> What are you videoing? >> Just everything I can see. >> Well, what are you thinking? What are you doing? >> What's that? >> What are you videoing in here? >> Everything I can see. >> Who are you? >> I'm It's irrelevant. Who are you? >> No, I need your ID. >> You need my ID? >> I need your ID. It's necessary that I get your ID. When are these cops going to learn? Daniel Webster said necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedoms. It's the argument of tyrants. It's the creed of slaves. This guy says, I need. It's vital that I have your ID. Why, officer, do you suspect me of committing a crime? Cuz you're videotaping and I don't know why you're videotaping, so I need to find out who you are. How is finding out who I am going to satisfy your question of why I'm recording? It makes no There's no logic. There's no There's no reasoning with these people. >> Please, thank you. >> Hold on, 1 second. >> Yeah, turn it on. Can I have your ID, please? >> Hold on, 1 second. Let me get my lawyer for you. >> Uh I don't need your lawyer. I need your ID. >> Um that would get you in a lot of trouble, sir. >> I don't think so. >> Who are you? >> I'm the chief. And if you're going to come into my >> He's the chief. And we know that a stream can rise no higher than its source. This is the source of the police department. So, what if he's going to act like this, how do you think his underlings act? He's part of the command staff. >> my lobby and videotape in the in today's day and age, I think I have the right >> Today's day You don't lose your rights. Unalienable rights do not evaporate in the phrase this day and age. >> ask you for to identify yourself. >> Okay, is it not a public lobby? >> It is. >> Okay. >> But this is a little bit >> Is [snorts] photography a crime? >> I need your >> I'm asking if photography is a crime. >> ID, sir. >> It's a yes or a no. >> I need your ID. >> Why do you suspect me of a crime? Do you suspect me of a crime? Because in in the state of Utah >> to identify you. >> You can ask, but in the state of Utah, you have to suspect me of a crime in order to >> true. >> I'm news media. I'm here filming. >> Well, that would be nice to know. >> And that's all you need to know. You didn't ask. >> Sir, do you have uh news media identification? >> Yeah, I'd like that. >> If [clears throat] Let's say James handed him news media identification, how would this guy determine that that news media identification was legitimate? Is there a special UPC code? Is there a QR code? Is there like a special uh refractory um overlayment that's that that you you can identify? Is there a scanner you can put on it to determine that that news media ID is actually legitimate and not a counterfeit? So ridiculous. >> Well, you can like it all you want, Gary. Hey, this is the chief. Can you send a couple guys down in the lobby? It's Logan Police Department. >> a couple of armed individuals down in the lobby for a guy with a dangerous, fully automatic camera. >> In Logan, Utah. >> No, just I need to have him come down. >> Logan, Utah. Logan Police Department, Logan, Utah. >> Do you have media ID? >> I don't need it. Media >> you to identify yourself. So, this is really odd that you're walking around my lobby >> In my lobby. >> videotaping this lobby. >> My lobby. >> That's suspicious to me. >> My lobby. >> And I'm curious to know who you are. >> I'm someone who checks up on the government and it's suspicious to me that you're so worried about the people putting cameras on you. What are you doing wrong? >> Ooh. >> I'm not doing anything >> Then why are you so worried about the camera? >> Because I need to know who you are. >> You are doing something wrong right now. You're trying to demand ID unlawfully. Now, I can understand if you're suspicious, you can ask me what I'm doing. Hi, I'm here filming you to check up on you and make sure that you all are obeying the law and not violating people's rights. That'll be all. Am I detained or am I free to go? >> No, you're detained. >> I am detained? All right, so we're going to do an unlawful detainment then? >> I need your ID, sir. >> And what crime do you suspect me of? >> I need your ID. >> So, you're demanding my ID. And if I don't give it to you, then what? >> I need your ID. >> Well, I'd like to assert my rights, but if you're threatening to violently throw me in a cage or something if I don't give it, then I'll give it under duress, under threat of violence. >> And isn't that sad that that's how we have to capitulate? Okay. As long as I know that you're making it clear to me that you're going to put hands on me and violate me and take away 100% of my freedoms unless I give you a little card with my picture and my name on it, I'll go ahead and acquiesce. I'll go ahead and do what you say, but I'm only doing it under duress because you are basically promising to abuse your power and authority and rather than protect me and serve me in my anonymity, you're abusing me. And you're abusing your power and you're abusing your authority. This is just I don't know how to put put it another way. This is psychopathy. If you did this to anybody else in the capacity of a civilian, you would be viewed as an outright crazy person who's doing nothing but making the world a worse place harassing your fellow countrymen. >> Okay. I'm going to ask you to to leave. >> You can you're asking me to leave a public lobby as the media. You're going to violate the First Amendment. >> You haven't identified yourself as media. >> I don't yes, I did. I just told you I was media. >> Leave. >> You're telling me to leave or what? Or or will you use violence against me? Just No, no, no. Look, I don't I'm not here to cause you a problem. But you're causing a problem. But you're causing a problem. >> I'm asking you to leave, sir. >> And what are you going to arrest me if I don't? >> I've asked you for your ID. You've denied that. >> Well, >> I'm asking you to leave the lobby, sir. >> You realize this is my lobby, right? >> That's fine. I'm asking you to leave. >> Okay, are you giving me a lawful order to leave or are you just asking me to leave? >> It's >> Okay. I'm going to There you go. There you go. Are you giving me a lawful order? In other words, does your command is your command underpinned by some law code statute or ordinance that gives you the authority to tell me that I have to leave a public place because I'm recording? And there you go. He backed down cuz he knows like I don't know if he processed the information that fast, but he kind of stepped back, backed down, and let's see if he continues to press the issue. >> I'm not going to I'm not going to disobey any lawful orders, but I have the right to be in here and film. >> And it's absolutely ridiculous that you would call yourself law enforcement when you're basically fiction enforcement at this point because you're just making stuff up and you want us to comply with you because you pulled some arbitrary command out of your dairy air. >> public servants. So, if you're giving me a lawful order or you're telling me you're going to arrest me if I don't give you ID. >> Say you're under arrest. >> Uh no. >> Then don't ask. >> I'm I'm trying to clarify because I feel kind of threatened at this >> Oh, here comes one of the men with guns that he just called. >> You guys are Yeah, you're calling more people with guns out here for the camera. >> Yeah. >> What gun? >> There's a gun right there. There's a gun right there. >> What gun? I don't see any gun. Are you talking about us? We're law enforcement. We're supposed to I don't view myself as a man with a gun, but sir, you got to admit you are a man with a gun. >> There's extra magazines. How many times do you think you need to shoot me? I mean, that's a lot of magazines. It's just a camera. >> Bro, where are you coming from with the gun? >> Exactly, where are you coming from? Let me just walk around and do my video. Leave me alone. Can we do that? >> I'd like to know what your purpose is. >> It doesn't matter what you'd like to know. And besides, I already told you my purpose is news media gathering content for a story. >> And yet you don't have ID that would >> I don't need it. Yeah, do you understand what freedom of the press is? Do you know who issues press passes? Who issues them? >> Okay. >> Nobody. The state doesn't issue press passes. So, to get a press pass, what you do is you go you can write it in crayon or you can create it yourself um on a computer. You can print it out. You can laminate it. You can make it look as professional as you want, but no state anywhere in the United States issues press passes. >> So, when an officer asks you for your press pass, okay, oh, you're trying to convince me that you're legitimate, that you have the authorization to be here, then I need to see your press pass. Whenever a law enforcement officer like this guy right here says something something like that, he knows just like you know that there is no such thing as a press pass, and we do There is such a thing as the First Amendment, and you have the right to exercise freedom of the press under the First Amendment, which is supposed to be constitutionally protected, which means these law enforcers are supposed to protect that so-called law. And he's got to know in his heart of hearts, if you were to ask himself this question and be honest with himself, there's no such thing as a press pass. So, he's asking this individual, he's asking James Freeman, if you Okay, I need to see something that doesn't exist. I want you to show me something that I know doesn't exist. >> Cuz we have the freedom of the press in the United States of America. So, anyone with a camera telling a story about a tyrant is press. >> Sure. >> And so, that's all I'm here to do. I was hoping, you know, I thought you told us >> Go ahead. Take your Take your camera shot. >> Okay. >> I'm just going to hang with you for a minute. >> Okay. >> Perfect. Let's do that. >> Can we Can we give each other arms length distance from each other for my safety and yours? Would that be fair? >> Yeah, that's fair. >> Okay. All right. Great. >> Okay. >> I was just about done in here anyways, but I'll go back through here and >> Well, that hallway takes you down to the city office if you want to film there. You're welcome to go out and take a look at the front of the building. It's a pretty building. >> It is. >> So. >> Uh What was your name? I'm sorry. I You got me real nervous with your >> I didn't even I wasn't even reading that. James says, "I really don't know why he suddenly changed his mind. I don't think he knew that all of you were calling." Oh, interesting. But, he suddenly decided he might be very wrong. And I think sometimes this happens. I think that there's a maybe a crisis of conscience that even happens within the people who decide to wear that costume and that badge and pretend that they have authority over the rest of us, that there might be uh a little spark of conscience left, and maybe that was enough to disturb this guy to the point where he kind of did a little bit of an about-face for no apparent reason. Let's take a look at it again. >> point distance from each other for my safety and And can we can we give each other arms length distance from each other for my safety and yours? Would that be fair? >> Yeah, that's fair. >> Okay. All right, great. >> Okay. >> [snorts] >> I was just about done in here anyways, but I'll go back through here and >> Well, and that whole bunch of you down at the city office if you want to go film there or you're welcome to go out and take a look at the front of the building. It's a pretty building. >> It is. >> So. >> What was your name? I'm sorry, you got me real nervous with you approaching me with the aggressiveness. >> I see. >> No, there's nothing aggressive. >> Well, I I feel intimidated and threatened. >> I'm sorry about that. >> That is that is interesting because he doesn't have an earpiece, so it's not like somebody who's speaking to his ear saying, "Hey, you're way out on a limb like this. There's no law that supports this directive that you have. There's no such thing as a press pass. You're giving this guy a hard time for recording in public." I don't see any indication that he got a tip off, but he's almost acting like he got a tip off. That he was in the wrong. >> Yeah, well, I don't think you are. But what was your name? >> Maybe he came to the realization that, "Hey, I don't want to cost my my city a bunch of settlement money." >> Can you verbally give it to me? >> It's okay. >> You can't You got my name right? Is that what you tell the judge? >> I don't tell the judge that, no. >> No. Look at that. Same thing. You got my name right here. It's always right here. It This he used both hands on this one. >> It's okay. >> You can't You got my name right? But You got my name You used this hand and then this hand. You got my name right here. >> Is that what you tell the judge? >> I don't tell the judge that, no. >> No. Because you got a little bit more respect for the judge than you than the general public or what? >> to engage you, sir. >> Well, you You're not going to engage me. Good, then go back to your office. Go back to work and I'll do my job. You said you're not going to engage me, but you're going to follow me around. That would be just stalking then. That would just be stalking. And then I'd have to have the sheriff come out here and arrest you. What's that? >> Yeah, exactly. Exactly. You guys are actually live on the internet right now. There's 1,100 people watching you. >> Okay. >> Watching you act up. >> Good. >> Oh, that is crooked, yeah. >> Can't have that, can't we? Yeah, it's it's crooked. It's as crooked as the police department. Must have a drunk officer put that up, huh? >> [snorts] >> Oh man, I don't know how that ended because again, this is on this is on X and a lot of times people will clip and lift certain content creators videos and then not put any kind of context. I had not seen this until I saw it over here on X. I don't think I've ever seen that on James James Freeman's channel, but I'm not sure exactly what happened in this, but the takeaway here is that the police chief comes out giving a guy a hard time when he should be protecting the very actions that James Freeman is participating in, but he just can't do it. And if he's going to do this knowing that he's being video recorded, then what does he do when he doesn't think the recorder's going? How do you think he acts? How do you think he treats people that he might suspect are committing a crime? Do you think he tases them? I'd like to you know, pull his jacket and find out what's in his file. How many times have people complained on him for being unreasonable and malicious and maybe even violent and trampling rights? Wonder how many 42 1983's have been lodged against him. Anyway guys, I appreciate you guys being here. Leave your thoughts about this. I really want to hear what you have to say about this. >> [bell]
