For safety for officer safety? Officer safety is a coward. Have you ever met him? I know him personally. >> You stay over there. >> Hey, you stay over there. Shut up. Don't start telling me what to do. Hey, shut up. I am standing here. Hey, the cop's trying to tell me where to stand. Look how far away I am. It's amazing the psychological Pandora's Box you can unlock in a cop's mind just by walking down the street with a camera. It brings the inner control freak out almost every single time. And it seems like these bad psychos are especially drawn to Tom Zebra. >> If I stay there. >> But I can go here, too. I can walk back. I can go wherever the [ __ ] I want. Don't tell me where I go. I'm not approaching it. I'm on the [ __ ] sidewalk. Shut up. I'm warning you. Don't tell me what to do. >> We're going to watch this and make some comments along the way, but thankfully, a very small percentage of people in the world want to control others against their will. It turns out the desire to control others is not a single trait. It's a cluster of motives, personality features, and learned patterns that range from ordinary status seeking to clinical pathology. And there are several reoccurring mechanisms that we'll talk about as we progress through this video. We're going to watch this video together. I'll make some comments along the way, but I want to start from the beginning because I want to show you that all Tom Zebra is doing is walking down the sidewalk with a camera rolling and he is way far away from the police. All right. We are out here with the university police. If I could get across this light, I want to go say hello. Well, might have to run. So, I don't know if they're just writing a ticket. They do have a car pulled over. Well, I didn't look closely, but when I was driving by the other way, I noticed what it could have been equipment violations, but I don't see any from this side. So, I might be wrong. University Police. Yeah. Looks like they're writing a ticket, maybe. I don't know. What's he looking for? Come here. How are you, sir? Good to see you. Looks like I didn't hear. >> You stay over there. >> Hey, you stay over there. Shut up. Don't start telling me what to do. Hey, shut up. I am standing here. He They cop's trying to tell me where to stand. Look how far away I am. >> Hey, sir. Hey, officer. >> Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. >> What was the issue? >> The The issue was this big mouth telling me, "Oh, you stand right over there." What's wrong with where I'm standing? >> What was the issue with being asked to leave? >> No, there is no issue. He's ignorant. >> Hold on, sir. I'm asking Did you just approach him? >> Does it look like I'm approaching you guys? Absolutely not. >> You can just stand there all you all you >> What am I saying here? >> You're approaching >> Can I stand here all I like? >> perfectly fine to do >> I know I am. >> So then >> Apparently he didn't. >> I'm asking you why he told you to stay there. >> You you didn't ask him why he told me. Ask >> I'm asking you, sir. >> Ask him. No, I didn't approach anybody. >> Okay, and you're perfectly fine to stay there. >> You can say that. >> No, but I can go here, too. I can walk back. I can go wherever the [ __ ] I want. Don't tell me where I go. >> traffic stop. >> I'm not approaching it. >> I'm not >> I'm on the [ __ ] sidewalk. Shut up. I'm warning you. Don't tell me what to do. >> So the cop who initially stood up for Tom Zebra and told the other cop to stand down is now giving Tom Zebra a hard time. Did you notice how far away he actually is from the traffic stop? The way I look at it is, let's say this chick has a 10-in shoe. There's at least five of her shoe size between this seam and that seam. That's 50 in, 100 in, probably another 100 in. This guy is way far away from this University Police traffic stop. Now, the strongest empirical link in the world of psychology within somebody who is a control freak is called the dark triad. And in the broader sense, it's called the dark tetrad when you include sadism. It's narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and sadism. And before I press play, let's hone in a little bit on narcissism. Its features center on entitlement and fragile self-esteem, and we see that all the time in cops. Control, though, restores a sense of superiority when admiration is threatened. And we all know cops want to be admired. They want to be seen as heroes and warriors. Experimental and clinical work show that narcissistic individuals are more likely to use coercion when their status is challenged. Why? Because the loss of control feels like ego injury rather than a normal interpersonal disagreement. They're very insecure. They have very fragile egos and because of that, they have to regain control even if it's as simple as telling you what you should do and where you should stand. I mean, watch how this cop just flips when the person that he's given the command to doesn't really want to obey that command and then gives back to the cop what the cop gave to him. >> You stay over there. >> Hey, you stay over there. Shut up. Don't start telling me what to do. Hey, shut up. I am standing here. Hey, that cop's trying to tell me where to stand. Look how far away I am. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. The issue was this big mouth tell me, "Oh, you stand right over there." What's wrong with where I'm standing? >> Now, notice how all the cops have their back turned on the original traffic stop. I thought cops were always afraid for their safety. How can they be so comfortable turning their back on somebody that they were victimizing? >> No, there is no issue. He's ignorant. Does it look like I'm approaching you guys? Absolutely not. What am I saying here? Can I stand here all I like? I know I am. Apparently, he didn't. Then you can ask him why he told me. Ask him. No, I didn't approach anybody. No, but I can go here, too. I can walk back. I can go wherever the [ __ ] I want. Don't tell me where I go. I'm not approaching it. I'm on the [ __ ] sidewalk. Shut up. I'm warning you. Don't tell me what to do. I don't have to be on my way. I can stand right here. It's not that hard. It's not that hard. I will teach you. Tom Zebra police training for dummies. Apparently, you guys don't got it figured out on your own. Am I okay to stand here? >> Look how far >> I'm not a fool. >> Look how far away he is. Now, Machiavellianism involves a cynical view of others as instruments. Control for these guys is strategic. People are means to resources, status, or protection, or promotion. Remember, they have very fragile egos. They're very insecure. And people who score high on this Machiavellian metric, like cops do, endorse manipulative tactics more readily, and they show less guilt when those tactics succeed. >> The last thing I want to do is approach. >> You're not a fool. Sir, you're not a fool. I ask you this, stop acting like it. >> Okay, I will if you will. Don't tell me where to stand when I'm not bothering you. And you didn't say [ __ ] >> I'm asking you not to approach our traffic stop. >> And I'm not. >> I'm asking you to. Thank you, man. >> You're asking me to? >> To not approach our traffic stop. >> Okay, well, why Why would you think I would do that? >> For safety concerns. Do not approach our traffic >> For officer safety? >> Yes. >> Officer safety is a coward. Have you ever met him? >> [laughter] >> I know him personally. >> Ooh, check out the tyrant twitch. Wow, that was pretty overt and blatant. Check this out again. >> Yes. >> Officer safety is a coward. Have you ever met him? I know him personally. >> It's so weird. This cop is almost as puffed up as Milton and I didn't think that was possible. What the heck? >> I mean, how hard is it to write a ticket? You got to harass people walking by? >> No, they got to control. That's why they're harassing you because they love to control people. And this is part of the psychopathic traits like callousness, low fear, impulsivity. It reduces the normal brakes on harming others. They really want to harm others and that's why you want to record them. That's why you want them to have body cams because they're less likely to harm others if they know other people are watching and a lot of times we've seen the camera doesn't even stop. They'll just violate people's rights. They don't care who's watching. And then there's everyday sadism. This adds a positive reward for domination itself. Some of these badge psychopaths even report pleasure or arousal from forcing compliance independent of any external gain. They do not like it when you question their authority. >> And you didn't say [ __ ] to the guy who started it. I I do appreciate you did say something. You told them, "Whoa." You defended me and I I'm sorry if I overlooked that. I appreciate that. But if you don't say introduce myself, I'm going to go back the way I came. My My name is Tom Zebra. You have a wonderful evening. Thank you. I'm going to say the same thing to him, but I'm not going to approach. Last thing I'm trying to do is get too close to you guys. You have a nice day. >> Yeah, cuz Tom doesn't want to be shot today. >> Officer, my name's Tom Zebra. Nice to you. You have a wonderful evening. No. >> He's too in his feelings. He can't apologize. He can't say have a wonderful day back. The ego is far too shattered. >> Just because he's too ignorant to respond, many times that would be reason for me to stick around and rub it in his face. But I'm feeling generous today, so I'm not going to do that. Good night. Ah, [sighs] Tom Zebra, police training for dummies, yo. >> People like this should not be in positions of power. Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. And even beyond that, power draws the corruptible. You don't want psychopaths ruling the rest of us. Tom Zebra and his camera drew out the psychological instability that happens in the minds of law enforcers. Leave your thoughts about this.
