You said you see blood >> radio. Go run back. >> Get EMS out here. >> These officers have just found 41-year-old CSU professor Dr. Todd Morgan shot dead inside his home. But as investigators scramble to figure out who wanted him dead and why, the case begins taking a far darker turn. Oh, >> okay. Then that definitely wasn't us cuz he did not hit it. He did not pull it that hard. >> You would have seen that fly all the way over here. Right. >> Yeah. >> So that paramedic never stepped over there. >> No. And I checked his shoes. I didn't They didn't match. >> His ex was dating someone that he said felt threatened by her and him ever having to exchange anything in person. As days turn into weeks, detectives uncover secret relationships, suspicious transactions, and a disturbing obsession with money. And before long, Todd's murder becomes tied to a hidden and scandalous side of his life. >> He seems like weird. Like I don't know. He I get a very off feeling. >> What's your name, ma'am? My name's Linda. >> Did you have any sort of a relationship with Todd Morgan? I really don't remember if I met him or not. [music] >> The first red flag surfaced on the afternoon of April 19th, 2023 when a woman named Maryanne called Hudson police requesting a welfare check on her daughter's father, Todd Morgan, after he failed to pick up their 4-year-old daughter, Cecilia, from school. Something completely out of character for the devoted father of two. Even though she and Todd were separated, Maryanne knew something was wrong and contacted the authorities immediately. But at the time, nobody realized that whatever had happened to Todd went far beyond Maryanne's worst fears. >> Hi, I was wondering if I'd be able to request a wellness check on someone. >> Okay. What's going on? >> Um, so my daughter was supposed to be picked up by her father today. Um, and I got a call from the school that she was still at the school. So, I ended up picking her up. Um, they tried to contact him and they tried to contact, I believe, his um, I tried to call him a couple times and haven't received um, anything back. >> Did you live in the city? Has he ever done anything like this? No, he I don't think he would forget his daughter from school, but we are going through um some custody issues right now, which is why I find it would [music] find it to be a little bit more unusual. >> Uh when you call him, does it go straight to voicemail or does it it [music] ring? It rings. 41year-old, >> you know, I must say, shout out to the to uh, you know, his baby mom and everything, his ex and stuff because even though they going through their issues, right? They're going through their situation, but that is still the father of her ch of her child and she reached out, you know, to the police. So, you definitely got to say shout out to her. Casey, what's happening? >> Dr. Todd Morgan is adventurous, academically driven, and deeply devoted to his family. After earning a doctorate in business administration from Kent State University, he returned to Cleveland State University as a respected and well-liked professor. Outside the classroom, Todd is a devoted father of two who spends his time playing games with his children, going to the movies, and enjoying the outdoors. But now, as Todd had been unreachable for a while, Hudson police officers were immediately dispatched to his home. But the moment they arrived at the property, they realized this was no ordinary welfare check. Something deeply disturbing had happened inside that house. >> 2015 Porsche black toddl. Let's see. >> You said you see blood >> radio go back EMS out here. >> Oh boy. There's a lot of blood. Party looks to be might have fell. Crap. >> Oh, it's open. >> Looks like a suicide. >> It's open. >> Not down. It's not going >> appears to be a possible suicide. >> Officers found Todd's body sprawled inside the house with such a devastating head injury that he was almost unrecognizable, lying in a pool of his own blood. At first glance, one of the officers believed they may have been looking at a self-inflicted gunshot wound. But as he would step back into the house, he'd realize that he could not have been more wrong. Get >> llm says the ex seems very young ex student he's 41 you know well and he got a doctorate you know so that take a little while to get too you know so but uh the ex seems very young ex student you know was was was she the teacher's pet you know [laughter] but yeah who knows >> pictures Yeah, Cassie, let's make sure the scene's safe first. Let's clear the house. 21, let's clear the house first. >> I don't see a weapon. >> I know. >> That's why I'm thinking something else. It's a bullet casing here, which that's weird. Why is there a bullet casing here? >> Over there. >> Anybody in here? Hudson, please. While clearing the house, officers discovered a single shell casing at the bottom of the staircase, the same caliber as the casings found near Todd's body by the back door. And with that discovery, the theory they initially believed to be true immediately started falling apart. I see a weapon of kind. >> That's weird. Why is there makes me think someone shot him? Do we go Let's go out through here. >> There's two casings right there. >> Yeah, there's two casings there and there's one over there. That's weird. He just tried off his arms. >> And as officers moved through the house, clearing the bedrooms, they found even more reasons to question the sinister scene unfolding in front of them. The master bedroom looked completely torn apart without >> Wait, hold on. [snorts] Wait, hold on. Okay, okay. Professor doing his thing, huh? What? professor got going on, man. The professor doing his thing, HUH? [laughter] HEY, if you know, you know. Alcohol bottles, snack packets, and condoms scattered everywhere as if someone had frantically searched the room looking for something important. But the children's bedroom told a completely different story. It was still messy, but untouched by the same chaos. Now, as more units and detectives arrive, officers are left with a growing sense that Todd's death is far more calculated than it first appeared. >> We're going to have to call the detectives out. Hey, Sarge. Do you want to Are we say it's pretty bad in there? >> Okay. So, >> yeah, he there's B there's shell casings in the house all over, but there's no weapon here. >> Uh yeah. So, Yeah. >> Can we get one with an EKG? It's apparent. >> Okay. >> He's been sitting there for a while. That blood's dried up. >> Okay. >> I don't Can you Can you tell me what you think this is, Sergeant? I mean, cuz I said it looks It looks weird. >> All right. >> Checked the We checked the window. We saw him laying here. >> We went in and we made sure that the there's nobody else in the house. But there's two casings here. There's actually three casings here and there's one casing over by the stairs. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> I don't even have to hook them up. >> I don't even think so. >> Um, as long as it is obvious and apparent and somebody can tell me if he is cold or stiff. >> Yeah. I mean, is it in the mouth? >> It's in the side of the head. >> What is it? >> GSW? >> It looks like it. >> Yeah. >> I don't see any >> I don't see any chest rise or anything. >> I'm not sure. Apparently, he was supposed to pick his kid up to school today. >> Okay. >> He never showed up, which was unlike normal for him. >> Okay. >> You guys took You guys went through the house. >> Yes. >> There's >> there's nobody else in the house. >> As detectives continue processing the scene, it isn't something inside the house that catches their attention, but a broken door frame outside. And the more they examine it, the more confusion it creates within the unit. What's >> Oh, yeah. What's that? >> So, I mean, I touched the foot. >> Obvious signs of death. >> Okay. >> Um through the head. >> Did you see that? >> Did that come off when we open the door? >> But this is not the only concerning discovery they've made so far. >> So, when you walk through the house, what did you see? >> We saw, like I said, we saw that showcasing the house. Doesn't look like ransack. The only thing we saw was upstairs and looks like the kids' room. There's like a piggy bank with some do like some some uh cash on the floor, but that's about it. That looks out of the ordinary. >> Okay. Did you see the gun anywhere? >> I didn't see any weapons or anything. I didn't look underneath him. No, I didn't touch them yet. >> Okay. All right. Don't leave. >> Oh, sorry. >> All right. So, keep >> Yes. So, that would have been >> Yep. The team has just noticed a bloody shoe print at the scene. At first, investigators believe it may belong to one of the responding officers who accidentally stepped through the area. But as they begin checking the shoes of everyone who entered the house, detectives realize they may have just uncovered the first piece of evidence that indicated something far more sinister had happened to Todd. >> So, I don't know. Okay, >> that shoe print look like like um like Air Force Ones. Ash says, "Uh, I'm late, but I'm here. Thank you." I appreciate that. Appreciate that. Glad Glad you're here. >> All right. Um, >> hey Kathy, >> what's your What's your boot look like underneath? >> Oh, okay. 1920. Yeah, gotcha. >> Did Did you get that, Lee? I don't know if that was from us. >> I got a picture of it. >> Uh there's three showcasings right here. Yes. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. I'm going to hold off the pictures inside. There's a showcasing up front. >> There's a showcasing by the stairwell. >> Okay. >> Can I see the bottom of your boot real quick? Just see. >> No. Can I see the bottom of your shoe? >> I I tried to tiptoe around. We just have their shoe prints coming out. We just want to make sure they don't >> see I'mma show you something. >> I got to go back to that shoe print. I try to go back to it to Todd. >> So I don't know. Okay. >> All right. Um >> Hey, Kathy officers. >> All right. If you look at this shoe print, right, it has those like swirls. those swirls with this circle right here in the middle. That to me automat and I'm not a big shoe guy or whatever, but I just know a you know a little I know a little bit that looks like the Air Force ones the bottoms of the Air Force ones. Like you see the swirls. Let's see. You see you see what I'm talking about? The swirls with the circle. that that is what comes to mind instantly is that but let's see it ain't but my point in saying that is that you know checking y'all boots and stuff like that yeah you should check your boots but a boot print is completely different than that pattern right there >> step through the year >> oh okay yeah gota Did Did you get that, Lee? I don't know if that was from us. >> I got a picture of it. >> Uh there's three showcasings right here. Yes. >> Oh, okay. >> Yeah. I'm going to hold off on take pictures inside. There's a showcasing up front, right? >> There's a showcasing by the stairwell. >> Okay. >> Can I see the bottom of your boot real quick? Just >> No. Can I see the bottom of your shoe? I I tried to tippy toe around. >> We just have their shoe prints coming out. We just want to make sure they don't go. >> I only went in and I tippy to around though. >> He went in the house. I didn't. >> Are you guys good? >> Oh, yeah. If you are >> doesn't match their shoes. >> Doesn't match mine or yours. >> No. No. >> Oh, okay. >> Right there. And that would match. Where would Where's the >> Is he right? >> Uh we didn't step over there. We stepped over the water bottles. No. >> Um and then I checked EMS. I checked um the guy that checked to make sure. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. And his shoes did not match that. >> Okay. So, >> and then he's the only one that went in. >> Double check Sean's. >> Yeah. Unless when Sean walked back out he did it, but we both went over the water bottle. >> Just for good measure. Bottom of your feet. >> All right. And as detectives step back inside the house to re-examine the crime scene, they uncover a hidden side of the professor's life inside his bedroom, one shrouded in secrecy that would eventually change the entire direction of the investigation. For now, to understand who could have wanted Todd dead and why, detectives begin canvasing the neighborhood, searching for anyone who may have seen or heard something unusual around the house. That's when they come across their first witness, Linda. Linda's daughter often babysat Todd's children, giving the family a close connection to the home. But what Linda shares with investigators immediately strikes them as odd. >> My daughter babysat his kids a couple of times and then after that, I haven't really talked to him. >> Okay. Do you happen to notice anything odd the last couple days at this house? Unknown ve weird vehicles, weird noises. a little odd, but >> okay. >> You know what I mean? But I don't know. That's why I'm wondering cuz my daughter babysat for him and I always said there's something weird and I and I didn't want my daughter to baby cuz I just felt like something was weird cuz he's got two little kids. So I mean if he's got two little kids here I don't know. >> Did you see anything or not? Okay. What are you talking about? Okay. You used to babysit. I thought he was weird. Did you see anything or not, man? With him normally? >> Um, he said he had the kids like part time. >> Okay. So, cuz I know he had a divorce. >> He got a divorce. Okay. >> But he had some girlfriend, too. >> Okay. >> I saw her and I met her. >> I think she lives >> now. We getting somewhere. Okay. >> Dora or something. >> Okay. >> So, um, but you know, this was a while ago. Maybe they had broke. I don't know. >> Okay. >> And I mean, my daughter babysat for him like twice. The kids came over and he said he never let anyone in the house cuz he said he was gutting it. So, and that's all. And then he said he worked from home. He wanted my daughter to babysit while he ran errands and stuff. >> That was it. And I just wondered what does this guy do? He has a Porsche, but he's working for mom. I I don't really know anything about >> Okay. Oh, so that's all. >> I can't tell you anything else. >> Linda's statement had already hinted at a hidden side of Todd's life, one that he had kept carefully concealed from both his family and the community. But as detectives spoke with more neighbors, a grim picture of someone frequently visiting Todd's house began to emerge. >> Hi, sir. >> Oh, hey, officer. >> I'm officer Bon Hudson Police Department. >> Hi there. >> Hi. Hey, I was wondering if uh when the last time you saw your neighbor >> Todd. >> Yeah. >> Um well, I see him pretty regularly. We're in and out. You know, we cross paths. >> Okay. >> Um >> you know, remember last night? >> Last exact time. Um >> I think he had his kids this weekend. >> He had his kids shared custody. >> Okay. >> And today is Wednesday. >> Yes. >> I think I saw him gosh, Monday. >> Monday. >> Okay. Okay. >> Pretty sure. I mean, we didn't say hi or anything. >> You just saw him pull in. >> Yeah. >> But we definitely waved. >> Yeah. >> Over the weekend. >> Okay. >> Not on Monday, but when it was real nice over the weekend. I remember we were like waved like, "Hey, you know, give him a h." He had his kids here. >> Have you seen anyone at the house? >> Anything? And I'm I'm retired. Uh, recently retired. I'm here all the time. >> You're here. You haven't heard anything? >> Haven't heard anything peep. >> Okay. All right. >> Is everything all right? >> Yeah. We're just >> Okay. But while officers canvased the neighborhood, desperately searching for anything that could explain Todd's murder, two details at the scene continued to confuse investigators. >> Old oldtime, you know what I'm saying? He oldtime. His ears is a little bit gone, man. Because you don't hear a gunshot. Or maybe that's normal around those neck of the woods. Who knows? You know what's going on out there. But uh yeah, you didn't hear a peep. He was shot. You going to hear a gunshot. >> The damaged door frame and the bloody shoe print. As detectives dug deeper, they discovered that the door frame had actually been broken by force coming from inside the house. And that immediately raised a disturbing question. Why would someone be trying to break their way out? Was Todd desperately trying to escape after being shot? Or was the killer trapped inside the house with no clear way out? then shot himself three more times. >> But I don't understand why the force entry is on with the door out. >> That's cuz we opened the door. >> Oh, >> we Yeah, we walked we walked around and we saw him there cuz we saw him through the window here. We walked around back and we look at him and we saw him. We're like, "Oh, crap." And I just yanked on the door and it opened. >> I got you. >> I It was unlocked though. It wasn't I didn't have to force it open. >> So the Okay. And then there's blood blood um from uh shoes print. Looks like blood on the outside. So that is >> very strange. >> Concerning. So it appears to be a possible suicide, but >> it's unclear. >> Okay. Bathroom right here. >> Yeah, I think that's a bathroom. But I was checking front. So So that's one, two. >> Yeah. Three on the front. >> Yeah. And then there's three casings on the ground >> right here. >> Yeah. If you have blood print on the outside on the porch, suicide does not make sense because he's inside and dropped cuz there would be a lot more blood if he, let's say, he shot himself on the porch and then tried to walk himself inside or something. That don't even sound right. Suicide don't sound right. >> Yeah. >> Let's check the basement. >> Mhm. Yeah, that's where all the litter boxes were. >> Oh, that's what I was thinking. There would piece of this door would be out here somewhere. Oh, wait. There it is. >> Oh, over here. >> Okay, then that definitely wasn't us cuz he did not hit it. He did not pull it that hard. >> You would have seen that fly all the way over here, right? >> Yeah. >> That paramedic never stepped over. >> There's the door piece of the door jams right here, too. So, >> was it that forceful when you guys opened it? >> No. No. I mean, he barely pulled it. It What? It felt like it. I mean, it didn't really seem like he did. >> Yeah. No way. That paramedic stepped over there. >> No. When I checked his shoes, I didn't They didn't match. paramedic shoes. >> Yeah, cuz they were um same one or >> Okay. >> With the mystery of the broken door frame resolved for now, investigators are becoming increasingly certain that someone else was involved in Todd's death. That suspicion only deepened once the autopsy report revealed that Todd had been shot seven times, including one fatal shot fired at close range. Whoever killed Todd likely knew him well enough to get inside the house and approach him up close before pulling the trigger. And while all of Todd's devices were still untouched and nothing was stolen from the home, Todd's phone was missing. And to the detectives, this seemed like a deliberate attempt to throw off the investigation. For now, detectives are certain of one thing. This was deeply personal, and someone entered that house with the clear intention of killing him. As the officers desperately search for more leads, they speak with Eugene and Sher, who live directly across from Todd's house. And what the couple shares with investigators finally provides the first real break in the case. >> Okay. >> Or whatever. And then I saw somebody come out of the house to the car that was next to the Porsche. >> They were in the >> They were in the car. I mean, it was there Porsche. >> No, it was next to the Porsche. >> Okay. And and it was there when I woke up this morning at 5:00, you know, as I walked. >> The car was already there. >> Car was already there. >> Person was doing Yeah. When I woke up. >> Okay. >> But at 7:15, 7:20, I heard I saw someone come out of the house, go to the car, open up the car, was there for a while, and then took something back into the house, like a package or a box, it looked like. >> Okay. and then came back out. Not running but walking fast. >> Quick paced. >> Yes. >> At what time was that? >> Had to be 720. Yeah. That it all happened within a couple. >> You heard three three >> two shots, I'm assuming. I don't know. And then then I thought someone was banging on something and then then a little pause and then three more, four more. And then they got in the car and they left. But they didn't like leave fast. They just were like going down the driveway. >> Okay. You saw Can you describe that car? >> I It was a smaller car, light colored, maybe a light blue, light gray. I couldn't get the make of it. >> Do you happen to have cameras? >> I checked my ring and it didn't pick it up. >> It didn't pick it up. Okay. >> It was It was like a four-door or two door. >> I I couldn't uh >> Did you see the person that was driving? No, I didn't. I mean, no, I did not. Okay. I did not see the person. Okay. Um my >> what they had on. What? You got to see something. You seen them go in the car, grab the box, go inside the house, come back out, get in, drive off, and you don't have no description. You had to have seen something. But at least I'm glad that he heard gunshots cuz the first guy he talking about, ah, I didn't hear anything. Like, what are you talking about? You ain't hear nothing. Seven shots. You You heard something. >> Wife was in different places. So I was finishing my coffee up here. >> I twins. >> Uh oh. Wifey got some information for us. Okay. >> I did a meeting this morning. So I had to be at work early. So I was finishing up my coffee in his office room up there. I think you were coming out of the bathroom. So we have this big like we have a balcony right there. So he was coming back to his office from the bathroom. And I said, "Did you hear that?" And he goes, "What?" And I go, I don't know. It kind of sounded like gun shop. But then you live in Hudson. You don't, you know, you just in the perspective like it would never in a million years. And there's cars up there all the time that have popping noises and trucks. So >> I didn't think anything of it. I heard boom boom >> and then I thought it was boom boom, but there was a little bit of pause. But again, I I was not even thinking it was gunshot until after it happened. So then I saw somebody come out of the house with long hair to the shoulders. I couldn't even tell you if it was male or female to be honest with you. It looked like a smaller frame, not a big person. Got into a little car. I wouldn't say the car was champagne color. He said it was bluish. So there you go for our perspective of of what it was. There are cars. Todd, from what I know, he's only been here less than a year. He has two children from different mothers. They're coming and going all the >> Oh, come on, Todd. You making us look bad, man. Oh. Oh, come on, Todd. No, you two for two. Oh, no, man. You just need to be Yeah, you need to just You need to call it quits, man. Two for two is crazy, man. Damn, Todd. Look what Come on, man. >> Todd, from what I know, he's only been here less than a year. He has two children from different mothers. They're coming and going all the time dropping kids off. Oh, sure. Sure. >> And um there's always like a Jeep there from somebody he knows. And I don't know if it's one of the mothers or not, but it's a newer Jeep. This was a car that I'd never seen. >> You've never seen that car? >> No. And you get up at 5 in the morning and you said it was there. >> It was there when I was >> And so when I got up cuz that's my bathroom mirror. So I get ready right there and it's a clear shot. >> Um it was a car I'd never seen. I got up at I left I left the house at 7:23 today because I'm thinking I'm going to be late for my 7 in the morning. So that's how I know what time it was when I left the house. So that person came out like Jean said, grabbed something from the car. I thought it was more like a package. He thought it was like a box. Again, we weren't putting anything in perspective. It's just what we walked passing by and then the person took something back into the house and then came back out and then just drove away. And Jean even commented like, "Well, there couldn't have been anything. They're not in a rush. So, >> okay. >> And how long were they once they were turned into the house? How long were they there for? >> I mean, it was just >> it was it was like they went back out. >> Yeah. >> Threw something on the floor. And >> I couldn't even tell you after we heard that boom boom. What time was was that like right away? I don't even remember. >> And that that car was sitting in the driving room. You guys woke up at 5. Okay. >> I don't get up at 5, but >> when you got [laughter] when uh if you when you uh saw that person, would you describe as a male or a female? I I did tell at first I thought it was a female and he goes I kind of thought it was a male again. So >> it could be either or a smaller frame hair down >> long hair. >> Yeah. >> Dark hair. >> Long dark hair. >> I can't [laughter] call Dr. Taco. He doesn't have with his contacts at all. >> And your folks names? >> Jean and Sherry. >> Jean and Sherry. >> Yeah. >> But Eugene and Sherry provided more than just what they had seen. their Ring camera had captured exactly what they witnessed that night. >> That >> Okay, so that's the car. >> Yeah. I don't know if you're going to be able to see anything for that or whatever. >> Okay. Um I'll give this back to you. I'll go tell >> Okay. I'm not sure how to >> Yeah. >> And then it's then it jumps to 7:30 and it's gone. >> And it's gone. >> Yeah. >> So, what time is that? Right. >> 6:50. >> 650. Okay. And then 7 it's gone. >> Yeah. Well, I the next spot on here. So, there's a gap. >> Okay. >> And it's gone at 7:30. >> Okay. Um, give me one second. I'm going to go let detectives know. >> Okay. >> And then >> for what it's worth, >> Yeah. No, no, that's great. That at least gives us a time frame. So, thank you. Bye. >> With at least a rough time frame for when the suspect left Todd's home, officers urgently rushed to visit Todd's ex-girlfriend and the mother of one of his children, Maryanne, the same woman who had called 911 to inform her about his tragic death and gather any information that could point them toward a possible suspect. >> We got a little one inside. Do you mind if we do this? >> You want Yeah, we want to step out that side, too. >> Yeah, sure, sure, sure. Are you you know Todd? >> I'm just boyfriend of of Mary. >> Okay. >> So Todd, we found Todd dead today. So >> and uh any explanation? >> Uh we're still an on ongoing investigation. We have the detectives looking into it right now. >> Yeah. As we find out more uh we can, you know, obviously let you guys know what more of it's going on. Um but right now it is an investigation. It's under investigation. So, >> um, >> at the residence, >> at his house, tell us anything >> at his house. We found him dead on. >> Um, when's the last time you heard from him? >> Um, I think it was a text on Saturday, maybe. I'd have to look at my phone. >> Your phone? >> Text on Saturday. >> Yeah. Thank you, sir. If you don't mind. >> Yeah. Thank you. >> And, um, but so he's required to do an iceover [music] device. >> What's that? Um, it's to he'll breathe into it and it reads whether he's had a drink or not >> for the vehicle. >> Just any >> Oh, wow. Anything at all. Okay. >> Um, and the last report I got was from yesterday at 7:00 in the morning. >> You get reports from >> Yeah. So, you got a result for that test yesterday? >> Yes. >> Does it give numbers? >> I'm confused. He has he has a breathing thing that he for alcohol or whatever. Why did she get the test results? Like what? Like, hold on. She got to run that back. I'm confused. Gotta run it back. >> He'll breathe into it. And it reads whether he's had a drink or not >> for the vehicle. >> Just any >> Oh, wow. Anything at all. Okay. >> Um, and the last report I got was from yesterday at 7:00 in the morning. >> You get reports from >> Yeah. Emails, results. So, you got a result for that test yesterday? >> Yes. Does it give numbers or just say if it's positive or negative for alcohol? >> Um, it does give numbers. Okay. >> Um, what's this test called again? >> Isover device. >> And it was last done on April 18th. >> Look this up. [clears throat] >> Did he have any strange friends or anything? Anything weird happened yesterday, you know? >> Not that I know of. >> Okay. >> You know if he was dating anybody by chance? Um, I had a it was I'm sorry, I had an interview with a social worker. Um, and I think that was back in January. Um, and at that time he said he was dating someone. >> Okay. You but you you did confirm or or deny that. You don't know? >> No, I don't I don't know for sure. >> Okay. Okay. >> But just as officers were preparing to leave, Maryanne shared one crucial piece of information. Someone had recently threatened Todd. >> This was a little over a year ago. His ex was dating someone that he said felt threatened by her and him ever having to exchange anything in person. >> Okay. >> So, they would meet >> they would meet at like a police department or a common area. >> Ex is his girlfriend's his ex-wife's um boyfriend, his other ex-wife's. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Maryanne also tells officers that Todd had previously dated one of his university students before their relationship eventually ended. While both leads initially go nowhere, they give detectives a glimpse into a side of Todd's life they hadn't fully understood. One that would >> always got to teach his pet >> would eventually expose a shocking turn in the investigation. As officers continued piecing together a timeline of Todd's final hours, they uncovered one crucial detail. At 7:21 a.m. on April 19th, the same morning Todd's body was discovered, a 911 call had been placed from a cell phone originating from Todd Morgan's address. If the timeline provided by Eugene and Sherry was accurate, the call had been made within moments of the gunshots. Hudson dispatch answered the call but heard no one on the other end. At first, nothing about it seemed unusual. Accidental SOS activations are common, often triggered by a pocket dial or repeated presses of an iPhone's power button. But investigators now believed this call had not been accidental. It had likely been accidentally placed by the killer in the middle of the chaos. When detectives traced the cell phone, it belonged to an Akran woman named Teriana Pascal. She was described as a thin woman with dark hair who drove a silver crossover SUV. Her connection to Todd remained unclear, but she matched the description provided by [music] witnesses, and the accidental 911 call placed her directly at the crime scene. At this point, detectives consider two possibilities. Either Teriana had witnessed Todd's murder and fled in fear of her own life, or she had been directly involved in killing him. Either way, investigators needed to find her immediately. But when officers rushed to the address linked to the phone, the woman who answered the door was someone else entirely. >> See, now we getting to the bottom of this sense a little earlier. Checking the thumbnail is hot now. So, I think we we we realizing who who's in the thumbnail, huh? >> Tell her to call the Hudson Police Department. >> Hudson. >> Hudson Police Department. Hudson, Ohio. >> Okay, I sure will. >> What What friend she staying with? >> I don't know, MAN. SOME FRIEND I MEAN, she she be she was she's a friend, you know, look like a little girlfriend, you know. She a young girl, you know, I'm an older man and you know, I'm just getting my but it ain't all like that, you know. >> What can you tell me about her? Hey. Okay. Yeah. He say, you know, just little girlfriend, you know, I get my little, you know, send her packing. Oh, no. [laughter] >> Hudson Police Department. Hudson, Ohio. >> I sure will. >> What What friend she staying with? And >> I don't know, man. Some friend. I mean, she she be she was she's a friend, you know, look like a little girlfriend, you know. She a young girl. you know, I'm I'm an older man and you know, I'm just getting up, you know, but it ain't all like that, you know. >> What can you tell me about her? Can you tell me anything about her? Like what's her what's her lifestyle like? >> She just got >> she How did you meet her? >> I've been doing that for years. >> You're not You're not in any trouble, sir. >> I'm not in trouble. I'm just trying to get some air. >> Yeah, but he don't want to say what it really is because that's illegal. You know what I'm saying? But I'm sure he probably, you know, she's providing services, man. You know, but he don't want to come out and tell the cops that >> kind of car she driving. >> What kind of car is she driving? >> What color is silver? Do you mind if we come in the house and check just to make sure she's not here? >> Hell no. You know what time? >> Damn. Just blew up his whole spot, man. [laughter] Oh man. >> I'm in the bed. My dog. My grandkids upstairs in the bed. Y'all think y'all want to walk through my dog house? Hell no. Ain't no Ain't no Terry in here. Okay, I'm telling you. >> When's the last time you seen her driving that car? Last time I caught you last time last time a couple days ago. >> Couple days ago. >> Yeah. >> She's in a a silver form fusion. >> Taurus for Taurus. >> Apparently he's >> What's that? >> She's with one of her girlfriends in Garden Valley to your house and you don't even know. >> I mean, who knows what if he's what he's saying is true. She's probably >> Yeah. their safety seal up silver tires. >> Hey, how far how far is that from here? >> That's not far. >> We could follow you over there. >> That's a Is that an apartment complex or [ __ ] She could be anywhere then. >> Yeah. >> The fact that Teriana had suddenly disappeared immediately raised red flags for investigators. Detectives quickly obtained a warrant for her phone data to track her movements, where she had been staying, and where she went before and after the gunshots rang out at Todd Morgan's home. What the data revealed left little doubt that Teriana had been involved in Todd's murder. Just 6 minutes after the accidental 911 call was placed, her phone was already moving at nearly 60 m an hour near the Interstate 271 split in Macedonia. But even more shocking, Todd Morgan's phone appeared to be traveling along the exact same route. Then suddenly, Todd's phone stopped moving altogether. Despite repeated searches along the highway and surrounding areas, investigators never recovered it. Eventually, detectives tracked Teriana to her sister's apartment at the Envision apartment complex, where officers moved in and took her into custody for questioning. But by the time Teriana was arrested, the case against her had already started snowballing. Detectives discovered this was not her first connection to a homicide investigation. A 9mm cartridge casing recovered from Todd's crime scene had finally matched a firearm tied to an unsolved Cleveland homicide from 2021. In that case, Teriana Pascal was not only the registered owner of the gun, but also the ex-girlfriend of the victim and the main suspect in the interrogation. At the time, she shifted the blame onto another ex-boyfriend. But despite the suspicions surrounding her, investigators lacked enough evidence to charge her. This time was different. With Teriana now tied to Todd's murder scene, detectives were determined not to let her walk away again. I have a blanket for you with you. >> Thank you. >> Chilling and everything else in here. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. That's better. Ariana, detect the Walker. >> You're cooked. Fried, deep fried rotisserie chicken baked. Man, you're done. Deep fried Oreos, man. You're done. You're done. You got away with one murder. You got away. You got away. It's It's It was clear as day, you know. You got away. And you go commit another one. This is just like, you know, obviously it's a little bit different. or murder and shoplifting and all that. It's two completely different things, but it's similar in this aspect. When you go and you see people going into Walmarts or Targets and this and that and they're committing shoplifts and stuff like that, right? It's because nine times out of 10, this is not their first time that they did it. They have done it before and they got away. But instead of stopping, all right, you got me. All right, cool. I got away with it once. All right, I'm done. I'm out the game. Hang up my jersey. I'm in the Hall of Fame. Retired. Instead of doing that, you continue to do it. And so eventually you are going to get caught. And this is the same type of situation with this. You got away with a M. That's Wild. That's wild, you know, in itself. But instead of hanging your jersey up in the retirement, you know, you done, you continue to do it. And some may say the analogy is messed up. But hey, it's that's what I think, man. You know, damn, man. Let's see. Let's go. Okay. Look familiar to you. >> Okay. So, here's what I'm here's what's interesting about these these two photos, right? Okay. These two photos were actually um on your phone. >> On my phone? >> Mhm. >> Well, they went on my phone. You actually typed in a search um for this guy and you viewed this image on your phone. >> You also did a search for 320 West Streetsville Street and you viewed this image on your phone. >> We're giving you giving you an opportunity here to to talk to us. We need to know what happened. >> Okay. And I'm telling you, I don't know what's going on, but what do you have? I don't know what's going on. Whose phone is this? >> I wish I took my daughter phone. >> Whose phone is this? >> That's my phone. >> It's your phone. Whose phone is this? >> My daughter phone. >> Daughter's phone. How long has your daughter had this phone? >> For a while. >> For a while. A while. A week. Two weeks. Three weeks. Four weeks. How long have you had this problem? >> I don't messing with my kids at this point. Oh, hell no. >> I don't know whose phone >> that's the you >> I don't know whose fault that is. It was in your room. >> She had her phone in her hand. So, obviously this phone was not in her hand. This phone was plugged in in your bedroom >> on a charger on the wall. >> Yeah. >> This phone was laying on the bed. >> I didn't take it out of her hand. >> I did not take it out of her hand. And if this belongs to your daughter, she's going to get it back. >> Yeah. I told your sister that she's going to get her phone back. >> After murdering Todd, Teriana discarded her cell phone and swapped out her SIM card in an attempt to hide her movements. But detectives had already begun tracing her digital activity, and what they uncovered only tightened the case against her. Investigators found incriminating searches on her phone, including, "Can police track my phone if I remove my SIM?" Detectives also discovered that she had been obsessively following coverage of the Hudson murder investigation, repeatedly refreshing news sites and checking more than 40 times to see if her name had surfaced in connection to Todd's case. >> And this this is uh what I'm going to show you here is a conversation, okay, within your Bumble app. Okay. So, looking at this, me is you. Okay. Because this is a chat history from your Bumble account. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, April 16th at 1957, you send a message uh that says, "Hey, [snorts] Todd. >> Does this look familiar to you? This conversation?" >> She's so goddamn dumb. He's so goddamn dumb, man. Look at this. Can police track my phone if I remove the SIM? Oh man, if I remove the SIM. Let's Google it. What do you think it's going to say? She's so goddamn dumb. >> [sighs] >> She thought removing the SIM card was going to stop anything and put the SIM in a new in a new phone. You think you going to swap out SIMs and they not going to catch on? Sim, you still got the same number, the same you just put it in a YOU JUST PUT THE SERVICE IN a different phone, man. How dumb are you, man? God damn. What? That's common sense. Yo, this is insane. Sean, I hope no one you know come up missing soon. [laughter] Yeah, I hope so. Yo, Skye, I've been waiting to talk to you, Skye. I've been waiting to talk to you, Skye. Listen, we had that members only uh live. Why didn't you tell me you bubbles, man? YOU BUBBLES, MAN. WHY YOU AIN'T TELL ME THAT? YEAH, I found out cuz I'M I'M LIKE, "OH, SHOOT. I GOT A NEW MEMBER." DA DA DA. And then I go to do the end card, you know, the the the roll the rolling thing at the end that show all the members and everything. And I'm like, hey, hold on. This not This is Bubbles. You want to Come on, Bubbles. You supposed to tell me that that was you, man. Yeah, I've been waiting to find you. I'm like, yeah, I'm glad you popped up. I'm glad you joined, man. I look you up. You Bubbles, man. Okay. Appreciate you, man. [laughter] Anyway, let's continue, man. Ed. Jordan says, "Common sense is no longer common." Yeah. LM says, "Anything really technically can be tracked." Yeah. I mean, come on. Bubbles in the building, man. >> Okay. This This is uh what I'm going to show you here is a conversation, okay, with within your Bumble. And okay, so looking at this, me is you, okay? because this is a chat history from your Bumble account. >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, April 16th, 1957, you send a message uh that says, "Hey, Todd." >> Mhm. >> Does this look familiar to you? This conversation? >> I really don't remember. >> You don't remember? So, you guys have this conversation right here at the end. Um, you know, you ask him, "Hey, you want to exchange numbers, right?" So name me would be you >> and then you say that your name is Siobhan. >> Is that your middle name? >> Yes. >> Okay. So is that kind of what you go by? Siobhan. Is there any other names you go by? >> No. Terry. Terry. Okay. Um so you ask him if you want to change his numbers. He says yes. That works for me. And he gives you that phone number. Does that phone number look familiar? >> No. >> Okay. I really don't remember. Okay. So, so here's some things I want to show you. Remember I told you that I showed you these photos [snorts] right here. I told you that these photos um or from your phone, your search history within your phone. Remember how I said that? >> Mhm. >> Okay. So, with that in mind, I want I want to show you this. This right here, these are all searches that we did within your phone. Okay. They go big boy. Big boy [snorts] team. These are all images that you view. Okay. Does that guy look familiar to you now? >> What Terryiana doesn't realize is that detectives are no longer trying to verify whether she was involved. They already know. Phone records have filled in the missing pieces of the investigation. What they need now is the truth. Detectives uncover that Teriana and Todd first connected through the dating app Bumble. While Todd had told his family he was seeing someone, that person was not. Okay, Todd. Okay, he on Bumble. All right. Okay, Todd. Nice suit on. >> Teriana. Investigators learned that Teriana often presented herself as someone who expected payment for the services she offered. And Todd appeared to be one of several. >> Wait, hold on. What kind of rate, baby? 120. Oh, hold on. Let's break it down. Hold on. I'MMA OH, [screaming] HOLD ON. LET'S BREAK IT DOWN. YOU trying to talk code? Hold on. Let me put my Hold on, man. That's what she charging. Let me see. Greg says, "Can we link? Where you at?" She said, "Text me. Text my phone." Hey dollar, this is Terry. Boom. Boom. Boom. I got a new number. Okay. So, she charging 200 for the half hour and 400 for the hour. I don't know what SS mean. I don't know. I don't know what SS mean, but that's the prices. That's the prices. God damn. These [ __ ] is down bad, boy. [laughter] Down bad, boy. Who paying 200 to 400? Who paying one? Hey, let's let's go. Let's continue. Let's continue. I don't know who who paying those prices, man. That's crazy. men she had connected with through different dating apps. For a while, the arrangement between them seemed to be working until the morning of April 19th when everything went horribly wrong. And while detectives may already know Teriana is responsible for Todd's murder, they still don't understand why. And the answer to that question can only come from her. >> Terry, we got a lot of stuff here. We got a lot of information. Okay. We have a lot of information. We have information that put you in connection with Todd Morgan. >> We have the neighbors. We have We have a neighbors who saw you. The ring camera interviewing a house. We have phone. Okay. Your phone put you at the house overnight. This phone call on the morning of April 19th, 2023, 21104. SOS. This is a phone call that came from your phone. Okay. Your phone at that point was >> I [snorts] don't know if I had the phone that you sense change number. Okay. We got a new phone. I think it was equal. You got a new phone. These are all pes. Okay. These pes are these yellow dots here. This is your phone. Okay. This is This is 328 West Streetsboro Street. You know what happened to 328 West Streets Bro Street? >> No. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Georgia says in science SS is half hour. Nah, cuz she said, oh, well, in science, yeah, 1/2, but she said HH that would be half hour. So, SS, I got no idea what that is. But anyways, she won 400 for an hour. Imagine you have a job where you making $40 an hour. You have to work 10 hours to give her an hour to pay her for an hour. Man, god damn. >> Teriana's phone data showed her arriving in Hudson shortly after midnight and remaining on the same street as Todd's home throughout the night. But now, as detectives try to pressure her into finally telling the truth, Teriana makes one thing abundantly clear. In her mind, she has nothing to confess. >> You seem like a good person. All the background we did on you, your your daughter had nothing but good stuff to say to you. Your your sister and nothing. So, we realize something happened that night and it wasn't the way it looks to us. And we want to know what really happened there. Something bad happened and we want to hear your side of it. cuz we know you're not that person. Everything we've come up on you, you're not that person. And without you talking to us, that's why we're sitting here. That's why we're here opportunity. Okay? We didn't care. We just booked you to the jail. We're sitting here. We're giving you time. We want to talk. We we need to know what what happened. How do you know you know Tom Warren? >> I think you don't know. I don't recall their name like I don't remember their name. >> You shot him? >> No. >> You remember that? >> No, I did not. No, I did not. I did. >> On the morning of the killing, investigators reviewed Todd's transactions and discovered that he had sent Teriana $50. Then just minutes later, Todd's phone began moving along the exact same route as hers, traveling at nearly 60 mph before going suddenly dark. The point where detectives believe it was thrown away while Teriana continued driving toward Cleveland. And surveillance footage along the route only further confirmed the timeline investigators had pieced together. >> So, um, the the vehicle that you're driving, whose car is that? It's your car. >> Yeah. >> Okay. How long have you had that car? >> For a while. >> For a while. See, you're smiling. Why are you smiling? >> I was actually looking at that. >> Ah, okay. I thought you were getting ready to tell me something. Okay. Yeah. So, so this car, why is there a license plate on it? >> Um because um I actually thinking out somebody else name. >> Charlene, you funny. She said SS social security. [laughter] That's funny. No, we was breaking down the her prices, you know, for her for uh in-house calls. You know what I'm saying? She she got she doing door dash straight delivery, you know? [laughter] She had hh half half hour h hour and then SS I don't know is that 15 minutes I don't know but yo she said SS social security [laughter] >> um tell you about >> okay >> yeah I took out her name >> she a friend of yours >> no she's not but I took out her name um because I'm moved from where I was stay with her You were staying with her? >> Yes. >> Okay. Was that the um Carson 6924 Carson? >> Yes. >> Okay. Did you guys have a falling out or something? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Is that why you moved to Akan? >> Um no, that's not why I moved to but >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> So, this vehicle was seen at Tom Morty's house on April 19th. The morning of April 19th. Oh, hallelujah. >> There's a Ring doorbell camera that sits on the faces the [snorts] back of Todd Morgan's house from the neighbor's house and this vehicle was seen by that neighbor leaving the house on the morning of April 19th. >> When? >> The morning of April 19th. So, the morning of April 19. >> Okay. So, the morning of April 19th, here's what we have. We have We have this cash app payment, right? Went through for $50. We have another cash app payment that was 20 23 minutes later for $1,000. Um, we had this vehicle leaving Todd Morgan's house at around 7:23 in the morning on April 19th. Um, you said that's your car. >> Mhm. >> All right. All right. All right. You want to know what SS means? Y'all remember? [clears throat] I found it. Let me see what somebody said. Historically, SS is lowercase. No. All right. SS. So, keep in mind she we broke down the prices. SS it cost 125. No, 120. She's selling her services for 120 for SS. SS safe sex. That's what SS is. So 120 SS hour, what was it? 200 and then um uh whatever and then an hour one something, you know, [clears throat] whatever. So yeah, 400 for the hour, 200 for the half hour. and 120 for safe. So that's Yeah, that's what's going on. That's what's going on, man. Damn. So they just out here no safe. Like what's going on? That Damn, man. That's insane. >> Have your phone um at 320 West Street on April 19th at 7 in the morning. actually have your phone at that address after midnight on April 19th, which looks like it was there overnight. That's possible. It's not possible. >> No, I really didn't lose my phone. So, I don't know how really. So, the neighbor said they saved me. Really? They actually described this vehicle. damage to the right side of it as you're meeting. Georgia says a she says she says uh good that's a good question though you know you said no such thing as a stupid question right that's what they that's what they always say right and that's what the teachers say right so she says this may be a stupid question but aren't these prices cheap now $200 for a half an hour of work is that Now you got to look. You got to think. $400 for a hour worth of work. Is that is that cheap or is that good money? [laughter] [snorts] Yo. Yo, it's insane. So, I don't know. I don't know how many people making for 100 in an hour. >> We had talked about Do you have a cash app? Cash app account? >> Yes, I do. >> You do have a cash app account? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Is that it? >> Okay. So, is there a reason why Bobby Morgan was saying you ate cash at pants? >> Oh, no. >> 7:00 in the morning. >> I don't know. I have um some stuff um I don't know. My food. >> Oh, chocolate. Why would some random guy off of Bumble that you had a conversation with decide to wake up one morning and send you $50? >> Um, he probably just wanted to take you some money. I don't know. I really don't remember him sending me any money, but I do have people who just randomly send me money on cash app. >> Why would why I guess why? I mean, I love somebody send me money every morning. There are people who are generous and um me being me and I have kids, I know how to talk. >> So um it can happen. It can happen. >> Okay. >> If you say say you wake up one morning, you look at your phone and it says, you know, [snorts] Todd Morgan sent you $50. Would you not reach out to Todd Morgan say, "Hey, what's that for?" Or, "Thank you. Appreciate that." I reach out to anybody who sent me some money. So, >> okay. So, when you got that $50 penguin, did you do that? >> No, I don't know. >> You don't know. >> I don't remember. But I do know that um I get cash for all the time. So, that's nothing, you know, I do. >> So, so >> and I ask people for cash. I feel that's just how I get my money sometimes. >> All right. So, in order for Todd Morgan to send you any any money at all, he would need to know your cash tag name. >> Mhm. >> Right. So, how would he have gotten that cash that cash tag name to be able to send you $50? >> I don't know. He probably got it from me. Like I said, random do send me money on cash if I ask. I mean, $50 is nothing. So, >> so you asked him for $50. >> I don't know. I don't remember. $50 is nothing. He might have been buying chocolate or whatever. Chocolate, but I don't know. >> He might have been buying what? >> Chocolate. >> Chocolate. >> Yes. Chocolate with um or something. I don't know. >> Okay. >> But >> yeah, he was definitely buying chocolate, but uh not no chocolate candy bars, man. >> [laughter] [clears throat] >> Yeah. I don't know. I I hope she I hope eventually she just comes out. Oh, I hope she eventually just comes out and says what really happened, you know, or if we find out what really happened. Like what's the real breakdown of to why she um you know ends up ends up killing them or whatever because it does seem like they had a decent relationship or working relationship whatever, right? Um because that's somebody that he was you know she he was a regular so and you know he's live he lives in a nice neighborhood whatever and you know he's paying high you know he's he's paying high prices or whatever um because I'm sure like like Georgia said so the old guy in the beginning pays her the other guy when they went to the hood you know he has encounters he's a client as well or whatever but I would assume that the prices may might be a little different. You know what I mean? Um, you know, cuz, you know, is she gonna is if she got a chance to make a $100, is she going to miss out on that $100 or, you know, get get the $100 from the person? Are you going to go without being paid or go and just get the payment? You know, when they at that life and stuff like that, that's that's wild. Um, Reyes says, "Uh, 400 for the rest of your life in prison." Yeah, I mean, she not too bright, you know what I mean? Obviously, but she probably thought that she could get away with it. One, because she's not from those neck of the woods, so where it happened and would she took the phone and tried to get rid of the phone. Maybe it wouldn't trace back to her, but she's so she They got her dead to rights, man. But she probably thought that she wouldn't get caught because it's not really in her element, I should say. I don't know. It sounds messed up saying this stuff, but it it is what it is. >> You do chocolate edibles? [snorts] Do you like chocolate edibles? >> No, I mean sometimes. >> So, um, Todd Morgan sends you $50 a morning. >> I don't do >> Okay. But he did. So, what I want to ask you is there was another payment. the crown. About 20 was it 23 minutes later, there was a $1,000 payment that was sent from um Todd Morgan to Black Beauty and you you confirm that Black Beauty, this this cash app is you. That's you obviously in that picture. Um so he sent you $1,000. Now we go back to a $50 payment and say guys send you random $50 every now and then. Okay. you guys send you random thousand payments? >> No. >> Okay. So, >> it could happen. >> It could happen. >> It could happen. >> Okay. All right. >> So, here's what happened, though. So, this money is sent and sent at 7:25 in the morning. See, this says 11:25. I can't It's a UTC time. So, you got you got to subtract 4 hours. So, at 7:25 in the morning is $1,000 payment. It was sent from Todd Morgan to my view. But that expired and it says waiting on sender. Okay. So basically that payment was sent but Todd Morgan wasn't able to um verify that. He got a a a notice back on his phone that said, "Hey, you need to answer the security question, whatever it was, in order for this payment to go through." That payment never went through. Did you you know anything about that? >> No. Forensic experts had already matched Teriana's DNA to samples found both inside and outside the condom recovered from Todd's bedroom. But despite the mounting evidence, she continued insisting that she'd never even met him. >> Did you have any sort of a relationship with Forg? >> I really don't remember if I met him before. >> I don't remember. >> But he sent you $50. So what? Tell me why somebody would send you $50. What would what would that be? >> If I had be able to send me money that I haven't met >> for what? >> Um for me and my kids, for gas, for food, for whatever to watch, whatever I asked them, for some people may just be getting generous. >> Through it all, Teriana continued denying that she had ever met or had any connection to Todd Morgan. But by that point, the evidence against her had become overwhelming. At first, she pleaded not guilty. But on the very day her trial was set to begin, Teriana accepted a plea deal, agreeing to plead guilty in exchange for a sentence of 20 years to life in prison for the murder of Todd Morgan with the possibility of parole after 23 years. At least she got her life at the end of it because you know a lot of these times we be seeing these cases man when they get when they do it and it be like 20 years flat you know you be like what the hell 20 years for a body but now I wish they would have tied in the case from the previous one as well because that's just that case because remember they tied the the bullets to the markings on the bullets to another another uh thing that they had another shooting another uh murder. So she's cooked rightfully so though. But I want to know the real story. Like did he not pay? I don't think it's not. I don't think it's that he didn't pay, you know. I don't think I don't think it's that. Maybe she upped the price and maybe he didn't want to pay the new price cuz where where you getting $1,000 from cuz your prices is not where the She was trying to send $1,000 or something like that. That's insane. And we got 30 people in the building. What's up y'all? Um anyway, [sighs] hopefully you guys enjoy uh 20 years. She got 23 to life. She ended up getting 23 to life. Um, but yeah, hopefully you guys um enjoy your weekend. I'mma catch y'all on the flip side. For those of you guys that um Oh, wait. Hold on. Yeah.
