The caller reported that the victim had been stabbed and that there were about three visible lacerations. But what the officers didn't know was [music] that it was way more than that. When officers arrived at the home [clears throat] on July 3rd, 2024, they found the victim lying on the driveway just outside the front door, covered in blood from head to toe. A neighbor, who happened to be the caller, had already stepped in, pressing towels against multiple wounds, trying to keep him alive. >> What's going on? >> He's been My husband heard him screaming, "Help." >> Okay. >> I mean, he's he just want he doesn't want to talk. I don't know if there's a Jennifer registered, but that's going to be our suspect. That's all he's telling us for now. >> No, I'd sweep it. >> Can we go check? >> We got to go. We got to sweep the house. He said it started at 11 a.m. But he has no she >> just said >> Wait, she said it started at 11 11 a.m. and it's 17. Uh, so five. Golly >> Clinter, if you're in there, come out with your hands up. >> According to reports, the victim appeared pale, weak, and barely conscious. His lips were blue, and he struggled to speak. When officers asked who [music] did this, he managed to say it was his girlfriend, later identified as Jennifer Hayes. Inside, officers found no one, but the scene told the story. [music] There was blood throughout the home, starting near the entrance, trailing up the stairs, and leading directly into the bedroom. In the bedroom, they found blood covering the bed, walls, and floor. At the foot of the bed set a bloodcovered knife. Amidst all this, the suspect was gone. And it was time to turn to the neighbors present at the scene to piece together what had happened. >> Is she inside the house? >> I don't know. >> I'm going to give you a plate. Larry Frank's one >> driveway. >> You guys watching, >> dude. I didn't even know she was here. I heard >> Who are you guys? >> My husband was outside and heard him screaming for help. >> I'm so I had my headphones and I was cutting the grass. I didn't hear nothing. >> You didn't see anything? You didn't see her. Anyone feel out? >> She said his house lovely. >> Did she stay here? Do you know? >> He's the only one we know that lives here. >> He doesn't. >> Have you seen his girlfriend out there or anything like that? Never. >> Me personally, no. >> Okay. >> I've never seen You've never seen anyone else here? Well, >> I wish I haven't. I would tell you. >> He works different hours, so normally he's at work. >> He's got another one wrapped around his brick. >> Oh my god. I'm going to tell him I'll be talking. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Oh my god. We were mowing for >> I just wish I I don't even know what to say. >> Nicole Nicole. >> He said, "No, her name was Jennifer." >> Jennifer toy tape. How does she feel? >> She lived with her mom and dad or by herself. >> Her dad. What's her name? >> What's her Do you know her last name? >> Some water again? >> Yeah, we'll get some. What's her last name, bud? >> Don, let me have this water. >> What's that? >> You don't know her last name? How long you guys been together? >> You want me to grab >> Come on. Come on. This is crazy. This guy is on his last leg, you know? He doesn't know if he's going to live or die. Like, let's be honest here. He doesn't know that, right? He's super weak. But he won't give up her last name. I don't know about you, but I know the last name of every woman I have dated. Okay? So, he knows her last name, but he doesn't want to give it up. It's crazy. >> Yo. >> Yeah. Oh, he's running it. Nick. You saw her two daughters in the neighbor. She stay here. >> I have no idea. >> They They don't know anyone that stays here. >> He works nights. As far as I've ever known, it's only been him here. his girlfriend comes and goes. I've never seen her stay here for a while. >> Yeah, it's funny cuz the train she's pulling up shortly >> and u what is your Sorry, what is your first name? >> Carl. Okay. >> I'm sorry. What's >> Carl? Carl >> working in my garage tidying up and I I thought I heard help. Help. Didn't think nothing of it. I thought it was they were looking for the kids down the street. Then I heard it again. Okay. >> And I I it was loud and I come down there and he's laying in the front of the house. >> Okay. >> So, I don't know if he started in the room and he was on the side when I got here. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Me and Jeff got here first. All he said that >> no one had seen the suspect. [music] They weren't even sure what happened. One neighbor only said he heard the victim screaming for help, nothing more. Eventually, paramedics arrived and quickly took over care. >> He's got to go. Uh, but >> maybe one of you want to back up the truck or whatever in the driveway so we can spin you around right now. >> Oh, yeah. >> He's got bunch of stab wounds. >> No, not that. >> It's 1, two, three, four, by the way. All right. >> See, so I'm trying to piece this together, right? And if he says that it started around 11, that mean that's around the time that the attack pro, you know, probably happened. But based on the title, it says a, you know, girlfriend attacks her sleeping boyfriend. So, he was sleep. She got in, got him together, and left. So, it probably took all of his strength to crawl to the front of the house. just so he could call out to somebody for help and just collapse at the front door or something. Wow. >> Yeah. >> Sounds like we get the neighbors. [music] Get two neighbors want people to help out. take our game. I bet you she think she may have taken it this far. >> Oh, they say that he he might she might have taken his phone. Now that makes sense why he would crawl outside to try to call for help versus getting on his phone, you know, cuz let's you know, believe it or not, most, you know, most people don't have house phones anymore. That's so outdated. Like, everyone has cell phones. You know, if you still got a house phone, I mean, you know, great. But that's a old school thing, man. Most people, you know, nowadays, especially the younger generation, and his girlfriend looks, you know, I would say 30s or so, somewhere in there, you know, it's cell phones, you know. >> Keep your eyes open. >> I've got a phone. >> Just wonder where she'd be if her car. I wonder if she's wonder if that car works. Put down a >> pressure cop. Any reason that one pass? >> Thank you. Yeah. >> I'm going to check. Yeah, we went in the backyard, too. And the shed. >> I'm not >> Wait. Well, it's within 3 hours after. So if we know time within three that early that >> he says but I don't >> I don't see how he >> and he was kind of plugged a lot of holes in neighbor said they heard him scream for help but >> was he in the house? Was he like right there screaming? >> Should we do another second just to see if we >> secondary search real quick? I'm down for that just in case. That's why I called you. That's why I heard you just the way. >> Yeah, you can get in over some basement laundry or >> the victim had suffered multiple stab wounds across his body and was in critical condition after being stabilized as best [music] as possible. He was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment. Despite the severity of his injuries, he survived. Investigators later determined what led to the scene. On July 3rd, 2024, Jennifer Marie Hayes had attacked her boyfriend while he was asleep. She stabbed him a total of [music] 14 times using two knives, including a near fatal wound to his neck. The victim remained inside the home for about 4 hours before somehow managing to crawl outside where neighbors finally found him and called for help. Using the victim's identification, police quickly located and arrested Hayes. She was charged with assault with intent to murder and aggravated domestic violence. In November of 2025, [music] a jury found her guilty after a multi-day trial. >> What she get 10 years? Probably you know, listen, you know, you know, let's just continue. >> And in January of 2026, a judge sentenced her to 10 and a half to I swear I don't watch these beforehand, but I was going to say 10. I said 10 years because believe it or not, women get significantly less time than men for the same crime. These are facts. These are facts, you know, and um you know, pretty much she got, you know, attempt, you know, that's pretty much what it is. this assault with intent to, you know, whatever. But, um, yeah, man. 10 and a half years, man. To 30, though. To 30. >> 30 years in prison. She was also ordered to pay restitution and was banned from ever contacting the victim again. Crazy footage on a midnight [music] ride. Bounce [singing] to the let the baseline hit [music] go reaction.
