What's happening? Boy is here. Your boy is here. I'm in the building. Let's see, man. Let's see who we got here, man. It's been It's been How long How long has it been since we done a live? What, a week? Been like a week, man. Let me see here. All right. Let's see who we got in the building, man. Shira is here. Diane, Sandy, Wanda, Georgia. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What's happening, y'all? Yeah. You know what I'm saying? See, so I figured, you know, we have a little vibe, little music before, you know, as people come on and people come on and you know what I'm saying? Cuz soon as I hit live, people don't be in here. You know what I'm saying? So we got to give time for you know, maybe people get notified, people to grab their drinks, their food. We rocking out, man. Uh LLM, what's happening, man? So, we got some things to talk about. We got some things to talk about, man. I feel like people are upset with the abrupt endings, right? And the um the um the abrupt endings, right? Cuz I Clearly, you guys have noticed that there has been a difference in the ending of the videos, right? Um and not giving like an outro and doing the talking and then doing the list of, you know, and all of that other stuff. Now, I'mma break some things down to you. See, this is why you come to the lives. The lives is where we can actually talk and, you know what I'm saying? We can actually talk and everything. So, I'mma break some things down to you um and as to why And for people that's watching on the replay and all that stuff. Wait, hold on. Speaking of watching on the replay, whether you watching this live or you watching this on the replay, I appreciate you for checking out with your boy, for rocking out with me, man. Time is one of the most important things that we have, so I never take it for granted that we actually able to spend some time together, man. How can I See, I haven't done a live in so long, my brain is slipping, man. But yeah, so anyway, I'mma break some things down to you so that way you guys could keep being informed on what's going on, you know what I mean? Cuz you know, only the real ones tap into the lives, you know what I'm saying? So, anyway, let me break this down to you. So, um right here, right? So, we got we got some comments here. Uh wait, hold on. No, no, no. This ain't the right page. Okay, there we go. We got some comments, right? And you know, my girl Tracy, she's like uh "I missed your outro, Sha. You know, but great reaction, you know, all good. And then I said, you know, I'm going to I'm going to address I'm going to address it on the live stream tonight, you know. We got another comment from Jonathan. You know, I missed the outros, you know what I'm saying? You know, yeah, I can't make the live, so, you know, all that good stuff or whatever. But, is and then somebody else commented on that and and dude Jeremy was like, you know, I agree the videos are starting to just end abruptly, right? And there's a reason for that, okay? There's a reason for that. Um, okay. So, I you know, I do a lot of testing on this channel, so you going to see a you see a lot of flip-flopping and this and that and trying to test different things out to see what works, right? So, we're going to break down a couple of videos. I got two Wait, one. Uh, I got about two videos each of each format, right? Or no, three. For the first one I got three. So, when I most of the videos on this channel, they I end with a outro and I just talk, right? Let's say. Now, maybe if your head got stomped in right? So, you know, the video ends here, right? And then I stop and then, you know, the video is done. It pretty much just whatever. I'm just rambling at the end, right? But, do you see the graph? Look at the graph all throughout and then at the end is just a steep drop. So, that tells me, okay, people drop off at the end. People are leaving the video, right? Which is normal, right? People leave the video at the end, right? It's the end of the video. But, when I start talking, it just drops. Boom. Now, that's one example. Another example is the video ends here, right? 50% still watching or 47% still watching around this time. And then at the end, when I start talking, getting into my stuff, just another steep drop. Steep drop. Nobody don't want to hear what I got to say, right? So, um yeah, uh uh Diane says, "I'm guessing the majority of the people don't actually watch the outros." Exactly. Despite what people may say and comment. Now, I'm not saying everybody. There are some people that watch the outros, but the vast majority do not. And then here's another example. The uh the video ends here, and then it just shoo sloops right down, right? So, that that now that's one format. That's just me rambling at the end. So, now after that, we introduce the card at the end, where I do the breakdowns, you know what I'm saying, of my thoughts and I give the rating. So, now let's see what happens. That [ __ ] gets even worse. That gets even worse, okay? This uh the video ends around here, and then I go into the card, right? Complete drop-off. So, that was a complete fail. And I'm just giving a couple of different a couple of examples, you know, I can't go through all my videos, you know, to show you. We would be here all night, you know what I'm saying, but it's very similar, very very similar, right? And let's go to another example, right? This is one with the card. If you see at the end here, right? That the video ends what? The video ends like right here. And then there's a sharp drop. Everyone just So, the the card was doing worse than me rambling. At least with me rambling, it was a it was a slow steady was slow and steady. Like it was It was a little Okay, people dropping off, but it wasn't like it it you know, it's it's It was a little bit calmer. The card did horrible. It just dropped off the face of the earth, man. You know, so people definitely was not tuned into that. You know, and then um So now I introduce the abrupt endings. See, so you you see it ends fast. Now, look at the ending. Look at the graph at the end. The video ends Where the video ends? The video ends right here. Right? And then boop. Short drop. Short drop. Right? Because it just You wasn't expecting it. It just It just drops like that. So And let me give you an another example. Here's another one. A [snorts] short little ending. All right, the video ends right about here. But it's just a short little drop. Right? Because by the time everybody drops off it's over. You know, it's over. So the reason I'm breaking that down is because all of this plays a factor into YouTube. Right? YouTube looks at a lot of this stuff, you know. Where people are dropping off, where people are That's why the intros have gotten faster, too. My intros have always been fast. But they've gotten even faster. We're within seven within seven eight seconds, we're already into the video. You know, we're already boop. On today's body cam, we got blah blah blah. Where before I used to say um Today we got a video from and the title of the video is such and such, you know. We was into the video maybe 10 15 seconds. Where now we're into the video 7 to 10 seconds. So it's little things like that. These are why things have, you know, a couple of things have um have have have changed and I just want to break that down. Um there's reasons behind it, you know? And um in order for you to grow, you got to look at these things, you know? Now, I know my real ones, you guys are my real ones. Y'all watching the lives. Most people don't watch the lives. That's how I know y'all the real ones. So, y'all are probably tapped in at the end, you know, want to get involved with the card and want to hear my thoughts and everything, but but the vast majority of people do not. And that's why I just talked throughout the video. Like, you know, I give my thoughts throughout, but as far as the end, the whole drawing out stuff, nah, you know? Um But yeah, so that's that. Um let's see. Uh Uh let's see. Tracy, what's happening? Um who else is Is there anybody else coming in? Bug, what's going on, Bug? Yo, Bug Worldwide, um if y'all don't know, he he does like travel content and like um like media and stuff like that or whatever. Um you know, uh who else is in here? Yeah, so yeah. So, that's um the analytics are crazy. Yeah, the analytics are crazy. So, it's like you know, you know, the people don't people don't understand that and I don't expect people to understand it because y'all don't see the back office and stuff, but when things change, it's because YouTube is telling me something. YouTube is going to tell you how to grow. Just like I don't know if you noticed, but the past couple of days, you've only seen women content. You haven't seen men content no more. Why? Because men content don't get no views on my channel. Gets no traction. Nobody Nobody clicks the for the So, it's a waste of time. And I do a whole breakdown on that on on one of the members' videos and stuff, but it's it's just it's a it's a lot, you know? And I'm not just only doing women content because I think women are the only ones that do crime. No, men do crimes, too. But peop- my my audience is not interested in that. They like to see the Karens crashing out. They like to see, you know, the the the, you know, whatever. The white women crashing out, the black women crashing out, the, you know, stuff like that. So, um yeah, it's no no more no more guy content. That's that [ __ ] is over with. It's a complete waste of time cuz it takes time to do these videos and stuff like that. Um so, I don't want to, you know, just waste my time like that. But anyways, >> [snorts] >> Woo! Now that we got all that stuff out the way, let me read some of these comments, man. Diane said, "Yeah, no, um you didn't just break and die." >> [laughter] >> Yeah. Mhm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And Shaq gives Yeah. YouTube gives you analytics on everything. Yeah. I always wondered if it makes a difference if we watch the videos to the very end. Yeah, see, so what what it is is that um it's it's average percentage viewed, right? Average view duration. That's the thing that really plays a factor, right? So, let me uh damn, I erased a lot of the some of the videos, but uh or not erased it, but I got them off the screen. But um like for example, look at this, right? So, at the top here, you see audience retention, right? It says 5 minutes, you know, most people watched around 5 minutes of a 12-minute video, which is whatever, okay? It's like 40 So, it comes out to 41% But now let's say I drag this out. Let's say at the end I ramble another 2 minutes. So, the video is 14 minutes. This 41% is now going to turn to 30 something percent and YouTube is going to look at that as a bad video because people are only watching 30% out of 100, right? If you go to school and you get a grade and you get a 30 out of you get 30%. What's passing? Passing is like 70%. So, you know, and YouTube is a little different. You're not going to get 70%, you know, but if you want to stay you want to be good within that 45 50 range. If people are watching at least half the video, that's cool. But if you're getting into the 20%, 30% and that's why the endings got cut. Because people don't stay and watch them and it hurts the average view duration, right? So, and the average viewed percentage the average percentage viewed. So, anyway Woo! So, that's just a little update on some of the things that have changed. So, no no more guy content. Now, we'll do guy content for the lives and stuff like that. But as far as the videos that [ __ ] is that [ __ ] is dead. So, no more guy content. Um the lives is is we good we good for the lives though, you know, true crime stories and stuff like that. Oh, and um you know, I was doing lives three three times a week, but you see I I dropped it back. So, now we're just doing it one day a week on Fridays. And um you know, every other week it'll you know, it'll fluctuate it'll be different. So, one week we'll do true crime and the other week we'll do body cam and chill. That's why, you know, for some of you guys that were tuned in I did body cam and chill lives I think last week or whatever just testing the waters and it seemed like people were interested in that. So, every live we're going to alternate. Um so, but we're starting it off with a true crime live, you know what I'm saying? So, anyway, man, we did a whole lot of rambling. It's been 20 minutes. Let's get to the action. You hear me? Let's get to the action, you know? Um so, yeah, man. Uh book says uh I told the attention span is short-term nowadays. Well, yeah, that's true. You know, damn, to even get somebody to sit down and watch a video for 5 minutes is is a lot, you know? But, um yeah, let's get to it, man. So, anyway, today we got a video. Um um let me get my serious mode. Hold on. Today's video, all right? We got a video from Explore With Us, and the title of this video is um searching for missing baby leads to sick unexpected twist, man. Damn. >> [clears throat] >> Let's get to it, man. Let's see what they talking about. >> I need an officer at Lola Hot Springs RV Park in Francisco. I got a missing baby who just showed up. >> I'm the one who wanted this custody hearing. I didn't do my [ __ ] >> He's right on his knees. >> Um the Francisco gentleman just told him that his the kid is dead and buried in the woods. >> What starts with a report of trespassing and threats quickly spirals into a shocking case that leaves law enforcement stunned. But, at the center of it all lies the fate of a 5-month-old baby and a desperate effort to make sure he comes home alive. >> There is a baby missing. >> Absolutely. >> conversating anymore. We can conversate later. I want to find my kid. >> The following report is based on official police records released to date, and the footage has never been seen before until now. On the evening of July 7th, 2018, chaos erupts at a campground in Missoula County, Montana, prompting the first of many emergency calls on a night that will only get worse. >> 911, what are you reporting? >> Uh we have a person that is on the property that is not supposed to be here. There's been police here and given him warnings two different times. >> Has he been trespassed? >> Yes, he has. He was given a ticket the last time he was on the property and he is here again now. This is the Lola Hot Springs. He's over at the RV park. >> Dispatch agrees to send deputies out to the location, but soon it's clear that trespassing is the least of tonight's problems. >> 911, what are you reporting? >> Hi, I'm This is Christie from Lola Hot Springs. We called you about a possible missing baby. The gentleman, his name is Francis, he's walking down the road towards Lola Hot Springs. He does not have the baby and I need an officer here fast. >> Okay, I have some in route because I got a call that he was trespassed from the property and he's back. So I I do have a deputy in route. So I just need to verify with you my original call on this was just that he was trespassed from the property. >> He was warned to trespass from the property. >> Okay, I never got a call about a missing baby. >> I don't know. That just got brought to my attention. >> As the dispatcher tries to make sense of what's actually happening out at the campground, the situation is rapidly deteriorating. >> I'm coming right up to him. He's yelling at customers. I need an officer here now. >> I understand they're in route. Where is he now? >> He's frantic and he does not have her baby. He keeps asking people is that my baby? Is that my baby? So we're afraid that the baby is in danger or something happened to the baby. Um the mom does not know what's going on. I just need you guys here, please. He's screaming and yelling. He's getting violent. I need somebody here now. >> And do you Can you tell us if he's breathing? >> Yeah, you can. Francis Crowley is his name and you guys actually arrested him from here not that long ago. >> With deputies on the way, the caller warns that the situation may even be more serious than she originally thought. >> It's getting bad. It's actually a confrontation between another employee and him now. For you guys and safety, I just got to ask that you guys stay on this side till law enforcement gets here. I'm so sorry, guys. He's He's He's got a gun in his pocket and he's threatening to shoot an employee. I need an officer now. >> What kind of weapon is it? >> It's a gun. I don't know what kind of a gun. And now the mom of the missing baby is standing in the middle of the road. He's threatening to He hit the threats are continuing. I need an officer now. >> I understand. I understand they're en route. >> See, and this is the scary part because you got to be your You got to [clears throat] be your own protection, man. You got to be your own protection. Oh, shout out to LLM for the $2 super chat. I appreciate that. Um you got to be your own protection. You know why? Because the time that it takes officers, especially if you're in a remote area, the time that it takes officers to get there, the damage is already done. They already done got you together. Think about it. This lady is on the phone. This guy is standing in front of her with a gun. By the time the more officers get there, if he really wanted to do it to him, they would be gone already. So, you got to be your own protection, man. >> Alicia! Alicia! ALICIA, COME HERE. NOW, THIS IS BAD. She's going after her kid. We don't know where the baby is. Just tell them he's It looked like he just pulled the gun out of his pocket and stuck it back in. I have They've got to get here fast. >> An off-duty Forest Service Ranger takes the phone to explain that there's yet another troubling thing to be aware of. >> That's all I'm hearing is somebody possibly with a gun at the scene of this crash. >> See, we never got a report of a crash. Um where did the crash happen? >> Um so, it's going to be east of the Hot Springs. >> Okay. Do we know what kind of vehicle there was? >> Do you know what kind of vehicle it was? >> It's a blue uh Corsica. >> A blue Corsica. >> Police will soon realize that these scattered details are only what's been said by the erratic trespasser, 32-year-old Francis Crowley, and it'll be a long time before law enforcement can figure out the truth. >> What we're concerned about is if the baby was actually in the car when he ran the car off the road. >> Well, this is all news to us. >> I It just It just got told to me. And she And the mom had a bad feeling, was planning on leaving him today, but now we have this problem with her baby involved. >> The baby's mother will play a central role in this investigation, but for now, everyone at Lolo Hot Springs is focused on Francis. >> And I saw two people across the road, um very obviously in an argument, but I did not see a weapon. And I said, "Who's got the gun?" And the kid [clears throat] he was arguing with, the guy he was arguing with said he does. And I said, "I want to see your hands." Well, he put his hand up, and he didn't have a weapon on him. So, I said, "Does anybody have A GUN?" CUZ that was my my really my only concern at that point. And they both said, "No." And I said, "Okay, then why did somebody say that you had a gun?" And he said, "Look, my I got into a wreck. My car went over the side. My baby's in there." And I was like, "What?" >> The man, a guest at the campgrounds and a reserve deputy himself, tells Francis and the baby's mom, Alicia, to get in his truck so they can look for the crash site. Unfortunately, getting to the bottom of this disturbing situation won't be quite so simple. >> I kept asking him, "Where is it? How far up? Which side of the road was Did you go off of?" And he couldn't tell me. And I could tell that he was he was under the influence of something. He was bouncing up and down the seat. And about the third or fourth time, she's screaming out, "And where's my baby?" He turns around and said, "I gave him to the maintenance guy." And I hit my brakes on the truck. I said, "What?" I said, "Did your car go over with the baby in it or not?" And he turned around, she screamed and one more time, "Where's my baby?" And he acted like he was going to hit her. So, he had a He had a clenched fist and he pulled his arm back. And I yelled at him to get out of my truck. >> Now having seen Francis's unpredictable behavior for himself, the man orders him to empty his pockets. >> So, he reaches into his pockets and pulls out a bunch of baggies. Okay, now I cannot testify to what was in those baggies. But, there was Both hands were palm full of them. And I said, "Okay, well, we're just going to wait then for the deputies to get here." And he took off running downhill. >> By the time deputies get to the hot springs, there's no sign of Francis or Alicia, and baby remains missing as well. A few hours later, another call comes in to 911. >> Hold on. So, this don't make no sense. This don't make no sense. So, it It's understandable why he takes off running, but by the time detectives get there, the baby mom the Why is she called baby mom? Like it is Is this not their kid? That's another thing, isn't it? Is Is Francis and then baby mom? Like wait, hold on. The baby's mother. Like wait, who? But anyways, why is it that by the time authorities arrive, Alicia isn't nowhere to be found found? She took off with him? Like I'm not understanding that part. Sandy says, "This is the one crazy dude causing chaos all around town." Yeah. Alam said, "This could be bad royal location." Yeah, you know, everybody like the woods and everything, peace and quiet, fresh air and all that. Listen, you better have that you better have that on you, boy. You got to >> [laughter] >> You better have that on you, boy, cuz they what? Yeah, by the time the authorities arrive, that's too late. You got to push they wig back already, man. It's either you or me. And hey, I'm going to have to send you up through there. Knocking [laughter] on them HEAVEN GATES LIKE, "I DONE [ __ ] UP ON EARTH." YEAH, YEAH, you did. Yeah, you did, boy. What? Hey, it's like would you rather be judged by 12 or carried by six, man? >> Hi, my name's Felicia Mitchell and I'm up here at Lolo bar. Um I needed to talk to an officer. My um my baby's missing. >> When did you last see the baby? >> Um this morning. I uh went to work and um >> Okay, I need to put you on a brief hold. Stay on the line with me though. Okay, thank you so much for holding with me. So, you saw your baby this morning before work? >> Yeah. >> Okay, and who took the baby? >> Um Frank Crowley. >> Oh, that's the uncle? >> Please. >> Oh, the dad? >> today and he was um supposed to go to work and it's I don't know. The cops already came out here and already told them and just supposed to call them and let them know I'm back here. It's a 5-month-old baby and I don't know if he is stuck out in the woods. >> Before letting her go, the dispatcher asks a basic question that will eventually turn into one of the most baffling mysteries of the case. >> And who is Francis to you? >> [snorts] >> He's my other half. >> Alicia tells law enforcement that she and Francis came to Montana from Oregon 3 months ago and it seems from her cell phone videos that the two of them have seen better days. >> It's uh getting territorial over here. >> Yeah, they looking to eat. >> You didn't get attacked or anything. That was cool. >> I mean this one going to attack me. >> Where? >> This one. I want to attack one of them. >> Yeah, Frank, don't do that. Frank, look at me. You're so close to What are those? What do you think those are? Elk on the edge. >> The video ends with the pair driving away from the herd. >> Bye. >> American $150. >> If this recording is a slice of Francis and Alicia's everyday life, it's clear that today's events are a long way from that. >> So, the last conversation that I had with him is when he drove dropped me off for work today. He said that he was going to go try to find daycare real quick so he could go to work and be there at 8:00 and if he didn't he was going to bring back. Well, he never came back. >> So, you think that your kid is with the car? >> I don't know. >> Okay. But, he might have been dropped off with this maintenance guy of some sort? Did he >> That's what Frank told me. >> When did Frank tell you that? >> When I was in the car when when I was in the truck with the other officer. >> Did he indicate where the maintenance guy might be or what his name was? So, he just dropped him off with this random person? >> Yeah. >> Despite the enormous stakes involved, Alicia remains calm right up until she doesn't. >> I I couldn't get anything out of them between the guy >> [clears throat] >> asking them if he had a gun and then he started freaking out like, "Why would I even have a gun? I'm trying to Like, what's going on here?" >> Because we had somebody call about somebody with long blonde hair and a ponytail that was behind these cabins. >> Yep. >> That was telling people not to go back there because somebody they knew had a gun. >> I never No. I never said that. I don't care I don't care and I'm not going to stand here and argue. I need a ride to my kid. >> I'm not trying to argue. >> Oh my god. I got to go. >> Hey, Alicia. You are not free to go. Come here. >> There is a baby missing. >> Absolutely. >> I'm not conversating anymore. We can conversate later. I want to find my kid. >> Come here. >> They put Alicia in the backseat and go in search of the tent she's been sharing with Francis, hoping to find the baby safe and sound inside. >> How much is farther? Coming up soon? >> God knows why. >> Okay. >> You guys still see him far off? >> Yeah, something's not right. No. >> Did [snorts] you guys go here yet? >> No. I haven't been here. >> Can I get out? >> No. Yeah, something's not right. She want to talk all up until they start putting the heat on her. Mhm. >> This dude, what is this dude? He's high, really high. So, what we're going to do is we're going to We have her in the back of the truck. In the cage. So, what we're thinking about doing is pulling forward, letting you two go forward, we block the road right here, I go up with you, he stays back with her. >> Sounds perfect. >> And then >> Unless he needs to stay back cuz he's afraid of the dark. You got >> [laughter] >> your rifle out? >> Yeah, okay. >> I'll I'll I'll actually do a handgun so that way if I need to go hands-on and handcuff the guy. >> I'm going to go handgun as well. >> Okay. >> Let's let's move. >> Would you rather have me do rifle? I was just thinking of going hands-on freaking actually handcuffing the guy. >> You want to sling? >> Oh, I do. Yeah. >> I'd rather have two rifles. >> Okay, let's do it. >> But despite their preparation, the campsite is deserted. >> No one's No one's there. >> But while the deputies are up by the tent, their elusive suspect reappears back at the main campground. And this time, he won't get away. >> I need an officer at Lola Hot Springs RV Park. I got Francis, guy that the missing baby. He just showed up. >> Okay, one moment. >> He's trying to run. >> Hold him. Hold Hold him. >> Yes, yes. >> I'm on the phone with dispatch. Do not let him leave. Keep him there. Don't let him leave. >> One moment. Do they have a weapon on him? >> Uh not that we know, but they've got him detained right now. >> What happened? >> He was hiding behind one of the campers here on the property. >> Okay, who who has him detained? >> Um I am not I'm not sure. One of the customers He's trying to run. Just hold him down. He's on the ground. I need an officer here now. >> Okay, so be advised my officers that are headed that way if if they're actually in the area, so they will be there shorter amount of time than last time. >> Okay. >> And then I just need to know the male who's detaining him. Was there a physical fight or anything like that? >> Um he tried to run and the gentleman that I just gave you the name, he he just slammed him down on the ground to keep him in in in a place cuz he tried to run off. >> The campers may have kept Francis from escaping again, but it's not long before he says something that stops everyone cold. >> He's trying to get up. >> What's going on? What the [ __ ] is going on? >> I just called you guys. Like I just called you guys like >> Who has the male? >> He uh he is getting belligerent now. >> He said I follow dispatch. He said to keep him there. Don't let him go. >> You know, any any >> to be detained and not let go. I'm the one who wanted this kid detained. I didn't kill my kid. >> He's got blood on his knees. >> Okay. >> Um he just told me that the kid was dead and buried in the woods. The guy buried in the woods. >> The what? >> I need to know that. He said um the Francis gentleman just told him that his the kid is dead and buried in the woods. I don't know if he I don't I don't know. Just that's what was said. >> As chilling as this statement is, investigators are about to learn that not everything out of Francis Crowley's mouth can be taken at face value. >> What kid? >> He's got some blood on his hands, so >> And there's blood on his knees. >> Put your palms together. Put your palms together. Sheriff's office, buddy. Stand him up. Stand up. Stand up. Stand up. Finish your water. Just a second, Francis. We're not >> I'm not going nowhere, bro. >> Relax, Francis. Come on. He said his kid [snorts] 5 miles Where are you injured at, buddy? >> I don't know. >> All right. Let's go put him in in your car. >> You want to go his kid What That's what we need more than anything, all right. >> I did not say 5 miles, first off. Stay right here. >> Yes, sir. >> Spread your feet. Face my car. Spread your feet. Anything in your pockets, knives, anything like that? >> So, when I was on >> Yes or no? >> No. Before they got here, I was the one had him detained on the ground. >> Okay. >> What is wrong with everybody? >> He's the one that found him dead. >> I'm the one who's like trying to do stuff. You guys need to go. You need to look at all the text messages >> Keep facing my car. >> Where's Where would that kid be at? >> About 1/4 mile. Let's go. I'll show you where he's at. Let's go. >> Okay. >> I want him to be healthy and alive. You don't know me. >> Lean Look to your left. >> Sorry. >> Soon Francis turns his attention to Alicia. >> Let me tell you something, okay? And once you do the research on it, you're going to you're going to see and realize that crazy. She just tried literally to go to town. She can talk to me all day. Go read your text messages. Go call your phone. Go do it. >> Hey Francis, I don't give a >> you don't because you don't give a about anything that has to do with me. >> Let's go then. Come >> Yeah, but it would make sense that she didn't talk to you all day because wasn't she at work? That was the whole thing. She was at work. And you had to go to work. So you was trying to find a babysitter. >> Come on. You keep saying let's go get him. Let's go get him. >> Yeah, this has been like a 4-hour deal, Francis. >> No, I know. I just got to get the >> up to this for 4 hours messing around with this call because you still >> Oh, I know. That's why I came and called you guys. >> Francis agrees to lead them to the baby's location, but once they arrive at the wooded destination, things go off the rails once again. >> Looking for the child. 2332 He's supposed to be here? >> Hey Francis. Hey, I'm going to level with you now, okay? We can't waste a lot of time. Hey Francis, I know that. >> Let me get my boy then. >> Where exactly Okay, hey listen, man. Up there somewhere is a long way. We're in the middle of nowhere. >> Keep going. You start going >> How old is your kid, Francis? He's 5 months, but he just taught him how to talk? >> As Francis stays behind in the car, the deputies search the darkness. >> How old is the kid? >> 5 months. >> Oh, it's he. >> How would you feel if that WAS YOUR KID? KID. >> DON'T FORCE IT, JUAN. I DON'T THINK he should be looking for too long with one in the back of the car like that. We'll just I don't know. I'll do a 10-minute search or whatever. Dude, there's a lot of grizzlies out there. He's coming up. Coming up this way. Coming up. >> It's difficult to do a area search like that in the dark. This would be much better if it was during the day cuz this guy probably he probably doesn't even know exactly where it the child is. But you don't want to take the chance of leaving the kid out there all night because you got you know, animals and different things like that, man. Uh >> You get that hole right there? >> Yeah, there's nothing in it. >> But suddenly Francis sees something in the glow of the car's headlights. >> Hey, it's right there, ready? Look at his hand up. It's the car. He just saw it right here. Waving his hand. Jeez. Let's just get on the main road. Um There's nothing we can do. He can go to jail for trespassing. That's all we got right now. Yeah. >> That makes sense though. Jordan says uh Did she say it wasn't his kid? That makes sense because if you look at how EWU is is structuring this it's Alicia baby's mother. Like, you know what I mean? Like and with him there's nothing. So, I don't think he's the father. >> The baby's surprise [snorts] appearance turns out to be a figment of Francis' imagination, and detectives take him back to the main campground to get some truthful answers about what happened here today. And one of the first things they discover is that they apparently have a very wrong idea about Francis and Alicia's relationship. >> You and I >> a child. >> can figure this out together. >> This stupid psycho dude, she did this She put her last boyfriend in prison. >> I'm not playing. I'm telling you. >> I'm being serious with you now. She's crazy. Last night, or the night before it was, she told me she was like, "You know how how I'm going to hurt you really bad? I'm going to take You're never going to see us again." I swear to god. Get me a lie detector. I'm never She's crazy, dude. >> Okay, so when you say she, is that your girlfriend, your ex, the >> She's my sister. >> Okay. >> Is >> your child? >> No. >> Is >> Well, who is He's my nephew. >> Detectives also speak to Alicia in the hopes that she may say something that sheds light on this bizarre situation. >> Obviously, over the past month or so, Frank's had some issues here with the campground, with law enforcement. >> Yes. >> Uh all that. What >> He He got kicked off the property. Um he has some anger issues. Val, the cook, I I wasn't there or anything, but Frank said that he was going to burn his place to the ground. And then they got into a argument, confrontation, you know, and words were being said. Um so, that was told to my boss, and my boss said, "Okay, you're not going to be on the property anymore." >> Alicia, who found a job working at the Lolo Hot Springs upon their arrival in town, says that she would frequently leave the baby with Francis during the day. This was exactly what was supposed to happen this morning. >> I was getting ready for work. I was needing to be dropped off at 7:30. I was at the campsite that night and packed up and got, you know, he was getting ready to go to work. Had the formula and stuff ready to go and sure he dropped me off here on the road at around 7:30, 7:45. >> Okay. >> She says the plan was for Francis to take the baby to daycare and then report to a new job he'd gotten at a local ranch. >> And I told him, "Give me about 6:00 at night. Give me about a 12-hour day because we've been really busy." So, 6:00 comes around and I'm ready to go and nothing on the radio and on the walkie-talkie. And well, about 20 minutes later, Mel they somebody, I'm assuming I think it was Chrissy, calls over here and says that he's over there in the in the trailer the RV park freaking out. >> Law enforcement already knows what happened after that, but there's one thing they're no closer to knowing. What happened to Alicia's baby and where is he now? >> We do everything together. I don't know what the I'm going to do anymore. And my baby's gone. No. >> The urgency is only growing. A deputy's car dashboard puts the temperature outside at 44°. Unfortunately, Francis has multiple explanations for where the child is. None of them matching. >> So, what happened? I don't >> know. I Okay, no, I got up. I was mad at her. I walked down the giant hill over here. Got to sit her out. Found and was happy as a And then I put him back where he was and put little like sticks around him so he would stay warmer stuff cuz I didn't want her to get him. He's okay. I got him. I could tell. She got him. You could just see all the little nuance that she was hitting. >> So who hit him? >> What? She did. >> And where did she hide him? >> I have no clue right where he is now. That's why I was tripping the [ __ ] out. >> Yeah, right. >> You guys, I'm above the law this time. I'm right. You so far you didn't ask me one word where the [ __ ] you think he is. >> Because I'm trying to >> You don't need to. Just ask me where he is. >> I already told you. Where is he? You said something about a car, a van, but you said he's in the woods. >> up. So this is what I did. I said, "Hey, dude, get on the binoculars real quick and check out that boy cuz I was standing up there in the window with That dumb cop didn't do it. The lie. >> It's fine. >> I'm sure >> There's life. >> not in the woods anywhere though. You will never find him in there. >> As the detective spins his wheels with Francis, a hopeful report comes over the radio. A Life Flight helicopter noticed something deep in the woods. The blue Corsica, abandoned. A day later, investigators would retrace Francis's reckless drive through the forest, stunned that he made it as far as he did. >> Well, then you start sloping. You'd think you'd see a car by now, right? >> Yeah. Yeah. >> That's why I say it would it would be way easier to do the search during the day. Doing it at night. But if you Yeah. The chances of you finding finding them alive if you wait till the morning is slim, you know? That's the unfortunate part. But yeah, I don't I think something is wrong with both of them, honestly. In my In my opinion, I think And [snorts] where the hell is the dad? Where's the dad? That's what I want to know. Where is the dad, man? 5 months? Baby done popped out. He been here for a hot second. He ain't been here that long. Where's the dad? Because if if the dad is in somewhat of a better situation, even a little bit, the child should be going with the father until she get her stuff in order because living in a tent is crazy, man. That's insane. But who knows? I mean, maybe she don't know how to pick them. The The father could be a That beat, too. He could be struggling But what That's my question. Where's the father at, man? >> Would you believe there'd be a car down in here anywhere? No way. Nope. Well, I mean, you can see the broken stick. >> You can see it at the tree there. If you go to the left, >> Uh-huh. >> Yeah. >> And it goes down here. Saws that saws that tree in half right there. How he doesn't go off in the ditch there, I don't know. Did obviously get down into the dirt there. >> [snorts] >> Have no idea how the car didn't roll right here. Sheer momentum and speed is the only explanation. >> L L A B I Yeah. [laughter] She said she said he was her was the better half. I'm confused. Is this incest? Listen. Hey, you know how the neck of the woods be, MAN. YOU >> [laughter] >> HEY. HEY. WHAT? Country living a little different, BOY. >> [laughter] >> OH, MAN. That's funny, though. But yeah, you know. Hey. >> But hours [snorts] earlier, with the baby's fate still unknown, the discovery of the car does nothing to bring a consistent story out of Francis. >> So now we need to figure out where is from where your car's at. >> Okay, so I walked down after about 2 hours. >> So where did Where did you leave him? >> He was in the car. >> He was in the car when >> Yeah, the maintenance man that works there. I told him bring him back to Alicia. I mean So he should be okay. And he was That's when That's when he was the last time I saw him. >> So when >> When did you put When did you put sticks around him to keep him warm? >> Exactly. That's the last time I saw him. And he was okay. Like he's fine. I mean the kid's fine. >> Did he make it out of the woods with you? >> No. I That's what I said. I should have just took him. >> So your car's in the middle of nowhere, nowhere around anybody else from what I understand. >> Yeah, it's We were driving and >> So did you >> down. >> Did you try to walk back here from there with >> No. I just told you, dude. You can't flip words. I'm smarter than you. >> I'm trying to figure it out. >> you're talking to? >> You said something about a maintenance worker. >> Look, I'm telling you the truth. >> But with the so-called truth taking so many contradictory forms, the detective isn't sure where to begin. And while finding the baby remains the priority, something about the relationship between Francis and his sister doesn't quite add up. >> I haven't known him like my whole life. And when I moved down to The Dalles, I found um I didn't know any of that family. And [snorts] they told me that he was in prison and and everything. And I was like, well, well, that sucks. You know, he he might not have anybody. So I just wanted to see how he was doing cuz last time I seen him was when I was just a little girl. I don't know how old, but >> Alicia's videos include one from two years earlier where she and her daughter celebrated Francis' birthday from a distance. >> Hi. I love you. Okay. Ready? Come over here. No, I was just going to do five and then I got carried away. So then I was talking to him while he was in prison um for probably 15 months. >> Francis' criminal history includes convictions for burglary, robbery, and obstructing law enforcement. But Alicia says he was on a better path. >> He seemed fine, you know, like he had a little bit of a every now and then he'd have like a anger problem. >> WE SPENT FIVE MINUTES. Francis spent >> FRANCIS >> TWO HOURS TALKING TO THAT CHICK. >> FRANCIS >> YOU'RE A PIECE OF >> FRANCIS >> KNOW THAT AND EVERYBODY ELSE knows it too. >> Settle down. >> You can be LOOKING FOR MY KID. PUNK. >> DEPUTIES HAVE NO TROUBLE believing that Francis has anger issues, but they need to know just how far those issues go. >> Francis seemed a little bit controlling with you. Would you say that that was true? Was he violent? >> I don't want to talk about it. I don't want to talk about it right now. >> That's not the only question surrounding her dynamic with Francis. >> I want to be very clear on you guys' relationship. Were you guys in a romantic relationship at all? >> No. No and Nope. >> But pictures from Alicia's phone seem to tell a different story as does one exchange captured on video. >> You say? >> Nothing. Nothing. You can turn that camera or else you go to sleep you Hold on. It's going to go fast. >> What do you want me to hold on to? >> Um right now? >> My backer. Don't ask me about me and Alicia's relationship. I ain't going to tell you. Me and THE >> WHAT THE [ __ ] [screaming] OH, NO, BOY. WHAT? YO. Who doing this with they sister? Hey, y'all that got siblings, y'all doing this with y'all brother and sister? How, though? That's insane. Where do you want me to hold you? He goes, "My backer." What? Your sister? Nah, this is Yeah, this is nuts. This is nuts. See, I tell you, I'm staying in the city. I don't give a god damn. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. I don't give a god damn, man. Each Each spot got they own problems, man. The city life, you got urban living and all of that, you know, it come You got that [ __ ] that come with it. But you GO TO THAT COUNTRYSIDE, you got to deal with all them animals and [ __ ] and this Oh, no, boy. Oh, no. I'm good. I am good. >> Don't ask me about me and Alicia's relationship. I ain't going to tell you. >> Strange captured on video. >> You say? >> This is nuts. >> I'm not saying we're not right now. When we go to sleep, you better hold on. It's going to go fast. >> What do you want me to hold on to? >> Um right now? >> My back, girl. >> Don't ask me about me and Alicia's relationship. I ain't going to tell you. Me and Alicia >> Yo! Is your brother or sister kissing you on the neck? >> Don't ask me about me and Alicia's relationship. I ain't going to tell you. >> She's kissing HIM ON THE NECK? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE, MAN? >> ALICIA We're always together. >> It seems like you guys are pretty close if you guys live together. >> That's the second question you've asked me about my sister. I told you I wasn't going to ask. >> You know, I don't think I asked you that one. I just said that. >> Well, that's the second question that you've asked. Once I told you I wasn't going to ask. >> close >> It's still a question. >> Hm. Okay. >> Francis is silent when it comes to their peculiar situation, but Alicia's estranged husband is more than willing to fill in the blanks. >> They started to have a relationship that took, you know, typically sister and brother don't have. >> This is [ __ ] up. >> romantic >> And when do you think that they were in a romantic relationship? When do you think that? >> Oh, I found out that they were. It was she she told me. >> Investigators also speak to the infant's biological father. >> So, Alicia and Frank >> Oh, yeah. This is what I've been waiting on. Where's he at? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. This Now we talking. >> It was she she told me. >> Investigators also speak to the infant's biological father. >> So, Alicia and Frank have the same mom, different dads. His dad's from uh Mexican Mafia and uh when when their mom and his [clears throat] dad used to be together, he used to beat the hell out of her, tie her up, throw her in closets, and etc. etc. And uh he acts the same way as his dad on the streets. >> Do you think mom and you would get along, though? >> Damn, Mexican Mafia? >> Yeah. What is likely? >> You know, I'm just going to throw it out there. Her having a a sexual relationship with her brother, I would think that was really disgusting and I would have never thought. >> In a follow-up interview, Alicia >> Wait, was the baby daddy Mexican Mafia? Or wait, wait, wait, wait, hold on. I'm confused. I'm confused. I'm confused. Or was her father? >> No, I'm a romantic. >> And what do you think that they were in a romantic relationship? What do you think? >> He says a strange husband. >> out that they were. She She told me. >> Investigators also speak to the infant's biological father. >> So, Alicia and Frank have the same mom, different dads. His dad's from uh Mexican Mafia and >> Oh, okay. Okay. His dad is from Mexican Mafia. Okay. Okay. I thought I thought the baby father was Okay. >> And uh when when their mom and his dad used to be together, he used to beat the hell out of her, tie her up, throw her in closets, and etc. etc. And uh he acts the same way as his dad on the streets. >> Do you think mom and you would get along, though? >> I think me and mom would get along. >> Yeah. What is likely? >> You know, I'm just going to throw it out there. Her having a a sexual relationship with her brother, I would think that was really disgusting and I would have never thought. >> In a follow-up interview, Alicia would finally admit to authorities that her relationship with Francis was sexual in nature. Whatever the unsettling truth of their situation, it has little bearing on the emergency at hand. But finally, at 2:00 in the morning in the depths of the woods, deputies hear what they describe as unmistakably the sound of a human child. >> Hey Francis. >> Yeah. >> So we found we found him. >> You found him? >> We found him. >> Is he good? >> He's up on the mountain still. He's alive. >> Yes! Yeah, let me go see my kid. >> Okay, hang on a second, okay? >> kid. I told you give me my baby. >> Hang on a second. So he's up by the car? >> No. >> Yeah? >> There's no way he's by the car. >> No, he's up by the car. >> What? >> Yeah, right where you left him, man. >> One of the searchers would write, "As I was walking, I saw a pile of sticks and dead branches and trees. I distinctly remember hearing a stick break from under me as I was stepping down with my left foot. While my foot was still in the air, about to come down, I saw a small baby fist moving." >> The thing is is that he's up he's up by the car still. >> He's up by the car, right where you left him, dude. >> There's a grizzly bear there. I stood there for 2 hours tapping a pole. You think I'd leave my kid there? >> Well, I don't know why. >> there for 2 hours going do do do do do do waiting for help. >> I >> You think I'd just leave my kid there after that? >> I don't know. >> The baby is found face down in the dirt, wet and buried beneath a mound of sticks. He's cold and his onesie is soiled, but he's alive. One deputy notes that as they began transporting the baby off the mountain, he began coughing up small sticks. >> I'll get to see my kid tonight, right? >> No. You know, Francis, you're not going to see your kid tonight. >> Man. That cop is a real hero, man. And now this is beautiful. This is a great ending. But >> [clears throat] >> you know, you don't get to pick your parents, man. And your parents could put you in some tough situations, you know what I mean? Child was born in a rough situation, man. >> For one, the first >> Man, that baby look like a grown man. >> thing that he's going to do is he's going to go to the hospital and get checked out. I mean, he's spent an awful lot of >> Hello. >> in the hospital. >> needs to be there. >> Well, you don't know because you haven't seen him yet. I mean, he probably hasn't eaten in 12, 14, 16 hours. >> The baby is covered in scratches, cuts, and bruises, but his body temperature is normal and he's generally, and perhaps miraculously, okay. >> No. >> One deputy's report indicates, however, that it took the baby only 45 seconds to drink an entire small bottle of Pedialyte. >> I'm trying to understand why somebody would leave their 5-month-old baby in the woods and walk >> know because Alicia was like 20 ft away. She's a He's That's her kid, dude. Go talk to her about it. IT'S NOT MY KID. >> BUT despite Francis's indignation, the investigators wonder if there isn't an explanation behind today's madness that might make at least some sense. >> You've been around him for at least 3 or 4 months, so you he doesn't daily take medication or anything like that. >> No. No. The only met form of medication that he would take is marijuana. I have not seen him high the whole like 3 months >> Marijuana is medication. >> here. >> I took a tiny bit of dope. I've been clean for like 3 and 1/2 months. >> And what is dope >> Methamphetamine. >> Okay. And how do you use it? >> I snorted it. >> Okay. >> About $5 worth. So, no more drugs. Period. I'm not saying that was the cause of it. I don't know. I did so good, too. 3 months. >> Listen Francis, meth makes people crazy. >> The detective drives Francis to the hospital to get a drug test. >> Did you guys do a little baby in here today? >> I'm not sure. >> Man. >> She said you can bite. >> Can you heal this or something? >> Can I heal it? >> Jesus. >> I wish I had the ability to do that sort of stuff. >> Yeah. Yeah. I know. Just I just >> [snorts] >> I don't think I'd be doing what I'm doing if I had the ability just to heal stuff, man. I'd be rich somewhere, sitting like a fat cat in a Chinese restaurant. >> at least 20 years. >> You don't like getting your own blood drawn? Ah. Ah. Ooh. Why are you nervous? Hey Frank, you said you used methamphetamines and bath salts. >> I don't think you >> Bath salts? >> Francis's blood test comes back positive for THC and methamphetamine. But while that may go some distance towards explaining today's events, it's not the only toxicology report officials are interested in. >> How often did uh Frank smoke marijuana in front of him? Or with him? >> Um he would go outside and do it. I would yell at him if he was even close, like even smoking cigarettes or anything like that. >> The baby's drug test comes back strikingly similar to his uncle's, positive for both THC and methamphetamine. >> You [snorts] want to with me? I'll just use the water against >> Wait, what? >> Frank smoke marijuana in front of him? Or with him? >> Um he would go outside and do it. I would yell at him if he was even close, like even smoking cigarettes or >> [snorts] >> anything like that. >> The baby's drug test comes back strikingly similar to his uncle's, positive for both THC and methamphetamine. >> Get the [ __ ] out of here. >> With me? I'll just use the law against you. >> Dude, I'm not here to >> Yeah, you are, dude, cuz I want to get to I'm going to see my kid, and all you want to do is ask me You try to put me in [ __ ] jail, keep me away from him. You. Bottom line. And I'm pretty sure the judge would say the same thing. >> But Francis didn't have the good fortune to encounter such a judge. In February 2019, he played no contest to assault on a minor under 36 months old and pled guilty to criminal endangerment and child criminal endangerment. He was sentenced to a total of 30 years in prison with 10 years suspended. But even with that sentence hanging over his head, his legal troubles were far from over. >> Did Frank have a gun? >> No. >> Has he ever had a gun? >> No. I have a gun, though. I have a shotgun. >> Why did you decide to use a shotgun? >> Um >> Did Frank tell you that would be a good >> Yeah, he said that it might be smart. I mean, he can do his part, but, you know, he can't really fight off a bear. >> How come Frank couldn't help protect you with the gun, too? >> Well, he can he can't have guns. >> As a convicted felon, Francis was not allowed to possess a firearm. When searching Francis and Alicia's campsite that night, authorities located the 12-gauge shotgun in question leaning up against a tree. >> Shotgun. He was hanging out down here. Did Frank shoot it, too? >> That's my gun? No. No. >> Frank never shot? >> Nope. >> You got it. >> Nope. >> That's pretty amazing. I would think that somebody in the woods >> Oh, he wanted to, and I told him if you do, I'm getting big trouble, you know. >> When officials found pictures of Francis posing with Alicia's he was indicted on federal charges. In March 2020, Francis Crowley played guilty to the crime of prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition and was sentenced to 36 months in federal prison, half of which will run concurrently to his state sentence and half consecutively. After a few days in the hospital for observation, the 5-month-old baby was placed in the custody of child protective services. Watch our full video >> And yet the child still doesn't go with the father. They reach out to the father for interviews, >> [laughter] >> but kids still don't go with the father. So, the father must got some something going on. Damn, man. This is sick. Sick. Sick [ __ ] man. You [ __ ] your brother? That's insane. Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness. Wow.
