Chief Hazelwood he is Hammer drunk right now yeah this is a tough day in age man you know um they insist on all these uh electronic things and Technology you realize the position you're putting us in right I understand I'm sorry welcome back to the lackluster Channel in May of 2022 officer Nathan dye of the O'fallon Missouri Police Department noticed a vehicle weaving at 3 30 a.m and initiated a traffic stop it took the vehicle nearly 20 seconds before conducting an unlawful turn into a parking lot to pull over hi how you doing tonight sir uh do you have your driver license and insurance where you come from tonight I'm actually from these White Castles okay the reason why I pulled you over um you've been weaving quite a bit well I know because I was eating okay eating while driving okay um well how long has it been since your last drink flowers a couple hours okay immediately after admitting to drinking the driver tells officer Dai that he is Greg Hall the police chief of a neighboring Department I'm a police officer where you work at easily Hazelwood huh how long you been out in Hazelwood oh wow you're a police chief Hazelwood all right the fact this driver is a police chief shouldn't change anything but it certainly appears to as officer dye continues his investigation it's been a few hours since your last drink you know how it is I just got to make sure you're okay to continue where do you live at Waterford Crossing okay how about this Chief just so I feel comfortable knowing you're not intoxicated and you're okay to go can you uh can you just recite the alphabet starting with letter D and ending on the letter N without saying so D to end without singing uh starting on the letter d and ending on the letter N without singing so D to n without singing do you do that e g h i j k e q r s to use what away is that and um all right Chief do you have your uh do you have your place ID and stuff with you Chief Hall fails the first test and exhibit signs of intoxication back up arrived shortly after and the chief struggles for a few minutes to find his ID keep looking for that Chief I'll be right back with you officer Dinah returns to his vehicle to prepare a breathalyzer while Chief Hall continues to struggle to find his documents uh Greg Hall says he's the chief of Hazelwood dude he is that's what I asked him to look for oh he's got him now all right uh Chief I said it's been what time did you leave behold since the hockey game results hockey I hear that they've lost in like the last few seconds or something jeez um like I said Jeep you know how it is I'm I'm responsible um to make sure that you're okay to continue driving before I can let you drive okay what I want to do is just confirm that with the preliminary breath test you willing to do that there let's see where you're at on this and then we'll go from there so cheap before I can let you drive have to confirm you're not impaired okay so we could either start with the PBT see if it's necessary to do field sobriety or I could have you do some field sobriety tests either way I have to do something before I can let you drive or before we figure out something else all right okay now take your time [Music] the 495 62. officer dye now calls the supervisor to the scene while Chief Hall continues to think in silence for several more minutes eventually officer Dai interrupts the chief silence to engage in small talk and the chief is barely able to spit out a sentence how much longer do you have left out at Hazelwood are you just nine months nine months I can only imagine how much things have changed since he started in law enforcement and seeing the way it's gone all right um oh [Music] but I mean what do I need to do just gonna have you do a quick PBT Chief see where we're at and then we're gonna kind of figure out from there okay deep breath for me blow hard until you till I tell you stop keep going keep going keep going keep going keep going keep going I will get it this time just a little bit longer if you put our deep breath in and then just blow hard until I tell you stop after several failed attempts the chief blew nearly two and a half times the legal limit all right um hang tight right here uh uh I'll get back with you okay a few minutes later a supervisor arrives sorry to get you over here you make the big bucks so uh uh so Chief Hazelwood he is Hammer drunk right now [Music] yeah he he's he's over it too he is hammered he was dodging sniper fire out there so weaving all over the place is all on uh is it all on the uh dash cam yeah the driving and all the contacts so far yes she lives not too far from here up the street Off K I think he's a crunchy yeah so he's like six six to nine months or something away from retirement what's he said what's that what is he said what'd he said has he said anything is he said that uh he was coming from bee holes and went to White Castle to get some food and then was heading home I haven't done field sobriety yet just observations he's uh yeah this is a tough day in age man you know um when you have uh they insist on all these uh electronic things and Technology the sergeant is implying that it is difficult to let people get away with breaking the law when it is captured on film but then allows his subordinate to make the final decision instead of doing the right thing I want you to handle it just like you'd handle any other call any other stop if you've ever given somebody a break you're welcome to do that but I'm not going to interfere with the process I don't care who they are unless their last name is uh well you know what doesn't even matter if you're asking me to tell you what to do that's not gonna happen I will support you in whatever decision you have but I I'm not gonna call ours and say hey because that's just not right if the supervisor refuses to step in and ensure the correct actions are taken let me know in the comments what you think the rule on scene is Officer dye struggles with the decisions for a few minutes alone in his patrol car before finally deciding that you will keep investigating I think all right chief like I told you one thing that tells me is whether I need to have you do some additional tests okay I'm just gonna have a few step out and we'll run through some tests all right sir officer dies starts with the horizontal gaze nystagmus you realize the position you're putting us in right I understand I'm not doing anything I'm sorry after failing miserably Chief Hall is asked to perform the walk and turn test Chief do you mind just coming over here and seeing on this line for me hands down at your sides hang on one second for me sir um just right foot in front of your left foot heel to toe on that line keep your hands at your sides okay foreign what's that they're good bad ankles how old are you sir 66 66. yeah for being 66 you're in good condition though so right foot in front of your left foot hang on one second for my chief um I'm just gonna have you stand like this or if you're not able to just stand like that let me just go ahead and explain demonstrate this test for you okay sir Chief Hall obviously fails and now asks officer died to call the O'Fallon Police Chief to the scene I just need you to remember hang on one second for me sir um just not able to do this you know what he's talking to Johnny Johnny [Applause] I don't want to I really don't want uh I also I mean you saw what happened in in Chicago right with the with their uh chief police and they they look I'm liable this is all on camera how's it how's it look if I don't do my job I'm gonna be honest or like this is a really bad position to put me in uh I'm despite knowing the wrong thing to do the officers call their Chief and discuss their poor decision making skills while they await his arrival so I appreciate taking the call is on his way okay and he's got stop he's on his way up here he's on his way and uh we did our job yeah I need like I said yeah I just Bell being on camera I just don't like hey Chicago I'm sure you remember when that whole superintendent I'm not making that this is not you know I gave I gave her an absolutely I gave a courtesy uh my supervisor to let him know there's the the issue foreign [Music] so I wanted him to be aware of what our decision was and give him the opportunity to make a different one or contact the capabilities and he contacted to see the police and he looked down the street and he'll be here shortly perfect don't want to lock up a chief he's hammered him he doesn't have BGN this is a common thing for him oh really well you know unfortunately here's what happens if I kill him eventually the unnamed Sergeant's response to hearing that this is a common thing for chief Hall is that it will kill him eventually which shows that he is aware of the dangers related to allowing their fellow member to go free however most people at this point are probably less concerned if Chief Hall's actions ended his own life and are more concerned with his potential victims you know the people that rely on these officers to do the right thing are there more people that are up here the supervisor now joins Chief Hall stop recording and eventually Chief Hall's buddy O'Fallon Police Chief John nesky arrives on scene and after a few hugs Chief nesky approaches officer Dai or you can have him not at all not at all I'm sorry to get you out here I just no no but I want to make sure that's okay because you do what you got to do if you don't mind I will take them home I know I have known for a lot of years yeah I understandable and again sorry to wake you up Chiefs nope nope nope that's okay he and I are gonna have a long talking away Chief Hall was eventually driven home by the O'Fallon Police Chief and it took nearly two months until the story was published but even then the city remained silent about the stop only claiming that Chief Hall had entered a program but would not elaborate Chief Hall was set to retire nine months after this incident however prior to his retirement in December of 2022 seven months after this incident the city quietly replaced him and allowed him to retire voluntarily according to his retirement agreement Chief Hall received retirement benefits and was paid for unused time off he was allowed to keep his service weapon and City provided tablet in lieu of a retirement party he was also paid an additional month of wages of course all of that is on top of evading a likely DUI charge and as far as the O'Fallon Police Department that appears to have covered up a DUI their Chief has vowed to look into the incident as you might suspect we haven't heard anything yet so how do you think think the department would have reacted if it had been you behind the wheel let me know what you think in the comments down below thanks for watching if you have a video use the submit Link in the description or pinned comment if you enjoyed
