is America Brooks here Americans can say what they want and other Americans can't criminalize punish or threaten their right to say it so that's what you pulled us over for is you thought you heard get one of them nice new Chargers either that or he's in wrecked his new charger or explore what it is when he's having to drive that well he gets his car fixed well that car ain't got their time to harass people who are exercising their unalienable rights this sure looks like deprivation of rights under color of law to me that's 18 USC 242 for all you Legal Eagles out there oh and look at what one of the prescribed penalties is for depriving somebody of their rights Brooks and we've already mentioned the First Amendment here so now is as good a time as any to talk a little bit about Cohen V California government agents cannot act as guards of public morality for a public servant to take offense at the free expression of speech and want to use the power of his position to penalize a person for exercising that speech is to criminalize the very Foundation of freedom and that's exactly what Brooks is doing here judge Harlan in this court case rejected the idea that the state could prohibit the display of the jacket of a man that's Mr Cohen that said f the draft in a courtroom he noted quote one man's vulgarity is another's lyric and quote because government officials cannot make principal distinctions in this area that the constitution leaves matters of taste and style so largely to the individual he also warned that quote the government might soon seize upon the censorship of particular words as a convenient guise for Banning the expression of unpopular views and I get it calling people like Brooks and his buddy effing losers might be an unpopular view to people like Brooks but that's what the first amendment is all about protecting unpopular views wouldn't make any sense to try to protect a popular view so for officer Brooks to turn the unalienable right of freedom of speech into public disorderly conduct that's public disorderly condo is repugnant to free men and women everywhere talk about tiptoeing down the totalitarian path a Brooks so what
