On today's body cam, we're checking out entitled woman assaults the wrong employee on luxury cruise vacation. Virgin Voyages Cruise Line is a familyfriendly vacation experience that we have all come to know for its reasonable prices, popular destinations, and distinguished passengers. How could something like this even happen? On October 4th, 2024, the Key West Police Department was called to the scene for reports of that person. There was some. >> Okay. >> So, I'm officer Rosco with the QS Police Department. This is Officer Betts. >> Okay. >> So, pretty sure you know why over here. >> I'm only assuming that it's because somebody I was with sprayed an employee. >> Okay, >> that's all. >> So, right now you're not under arrest, but obviously you're not freely. So, before we go any further, I'm going to read your Miranda rightites. Okay. >> I'm going to read your Miranda rightites. Okay. >> Oh my god. >> You're not under arrest. Like I said, it's just >> because understand a ship >> that you can't leave freely anyhow. So, in order to interview you, we we just have to do it. >> We're we're investigating is all we're doing. >> You said that somebody that was with you. >> Yeah. It was >> It was not me. >> Who is that someone? >> Go ahead. You can. >> Um I only know her first name. Know her first name. >> Her name is Anita or Anna. I know her by Anita. >> Is she staying with you? She's in the same group that we're with. I don't know her last name. Like I said, I just met her. This is the second time I meet her. >> Yeah, the ladies is on Virgin Voyages. Listen, if you don't know about Virgin Voyages, it's it's uh it's uh [snorts] Yeah, it's one of those type of cruise lines, man. It ain't like your normal your your royal, you know, and all that. No, no, no, no, no. They they got a lot of activities going on on Virgin Voyages, man. So, yeah, they got the ladies trip. Woo! About to be a wild time, man. >> So, like I said, now just right now, you're not free to leave. So, before I can ask you anything, I have to read you your rights. Okay. Okay. Um, >> before I ask you any questions, you must understand your rights. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have these rights in mind. Do you wish to speak to me now? >> Yes. Okay. So, walk me through what happened. >> I went to We went to the restroom. Her and I went together with another two group of >> No, this was Anita. >> Okay. >> So, we walked to the restroom together. I go into the restroom. I use the restroom. I come out. Anita starts talking to me. Next thing I know, >> she sees somebody who works here. I don't know if it was a server or somebody else. It was an employee. She gets down with the janitorial kit on the floor. She gets down. And she picks up the bottle and she sprays her in the face. >> And there you go. >> Yes. All I know is that I told her we're going to get in trouble. Like I apologize to you. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm like we're >> It's very important. And I understand you're on a cruise ship and I don't know if you read all this stuff. You understand that cruise ships in the public areas, i.e. everywhere but your quarters has it's better than casinos as far as any video. >> Oh yeah. So, it's it's imperative if you're not telling the truth to tell the truth. Um because at the end of the day, if you're the one that sprayed somebody in the face and now if people cover things up with a lie, it always looks worse. Of course, >> and then when the interview gets played to the jury, if it goes to trial, now you now you're an evil person instead of, hey, I made a stupid mistake. So, I always like to I've been doing this 18 years and I've seen people dig a bigger hole than a stupid mistake. Stupid mistakes happen. Okay. >> Correct. >> So, if if if your friend Anita that you don't know, um her last name, what's she look like? >> She has long black hair. >> Okay. And who's she here with? Do you know? >> She's here with her husband and she's here with the same group. >> What's her husband's name? Do you know that? >> Wolffried. >> Wolffred. Okay. So you didn't see >> she got her husband there and she acting out like that. So it's not even a girl's trip. Wow. She there with her man and she acting out >> anything prior to >> and then they still in Florida so they didn't even take off yet. This wild >> Anita spraying the crew member in the face with the chemical. >> I was in the bathroom. I came out. I don't remember seeing anything. I mean, I had >> Did Did you see her spray her? >> I did. >> You did? Okay. >> What What other girls were with you guys? >> Um, her name is Karen 130. >> So, we're still sorting out then. That's why you got brought down and >> Okay. >> You know, and you are on video. >> I figured that's what my husband and I figured. >> This is why you're here. >> That's why we I would be called down here. Everything, like I said, in the cruise ship is recorded. Um, so it drives me nuts that people go out and do things like this on cruise ships. >> I mean, she was I'm not making excuses for her because there is no excuse. And as a matter of fact, as soon as >> then don't make an excuse because if you lead with that, then that means you're probably going to come up with a reason why she would have done that or an excuse or an out. It's like always when you about to say something and you lead with like a prefix or something, it's like, you know, you just disregarded what you just said because you about to make this statement. >> I walked out and I left with my husband shortly after that. I told my husband about it cuz she told me, "Don't tell him." So, I told him cuz I was flabbergasted because to me that's it's just not okay. No. >> Well, fortunately, the chemical was bathroom cleaner, which >> I figured it was something to that effect cuz it was down on the floor. So, what else? You know, would it be? >> Did Did you see where she grabbed the bottle from? >> Like off the cart or >> No, I'm pretty sure the little cleaning caddy was on the floor. >> Okay. But she put she removed it from the the >> Oh, that I didn't. >> Okay. I didn't know if she saw where she grabbed it from. Good morning. I'm Rosco to the West Police Department. What's your first name? >> Karen. >> Karen, take a seat. My name is David director on board. Okay. >> So, do you know why you're here? >> No. >> Okay. So, apparent before we go any further, you're not under arrest. I I'm just going to ask you, you're on board. You're not free to leave right this minute. So, before I can ask you any questions or anything like that, I have to read you your rights. Okay? Like I said, you're not under arrest. You're just not free to leave. So, you understand each of these rights as we explained to you? >> Yes. >> Okay. With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak with me? >> Okay. Do you need them for anything else? >> No. >> No. So, apparently there was an incident on board this uh about midnight 1:00 this morning that you might have witnessed or been involved with >> where in the last night in the nightclub >> was that >> Oh, so they're coming back. They're coming back. They just got back. >> Can you tell me Can you tell me what you saw? Yes, I was with my friends. Um, she was a little bit drunk. >> Okay. >> Is that real? She was drunk and she just do what? She was just getting the spray and she do choo choo to the air. No, not to no one in the face. >> She did. So, you didn't see her spray somewhere? >> She didn't do No, like this. No. >> Did she spray it in the in the direction? >> No, she >> just straight up in the air. >> Yeah. And she was little drunk, huh? She put it back and I say, "No, no, no, no, no." And she put it back. But it wasn't like So >> what we're what we're doing, >> they followed the CCTV. So >> this the worker. >> So we have three ladies that were in that area. Okay. So we have pictures from the CCTV of them, what they were wearing, and how they looked that night. Cuz I know it's hard to look at the crew picture. So, what I want you to do is take a take a look at all those and then tell me which one is the one that sprayed you with the chemicals. >> She's not wearing out. >> That's okay. But again, is is traumatic and you're doing your job and you got sprayed, so take your time and >> I'm sure it's not her. >> Okay. Definitely not >> here. >> Okay. >> It is more like her because she's not that moment. She's not t her hair her. >> Okay. >> She sound Filipino. She Filipino. Hold on. I might have to get me on a cruise. HOLD UP, BOY. OH, SHOOT. WHAT? NAH, I I know a lot of um it's it's crazy, right? Because um and we going to go a little off topic, but you know, when I was in the Philippines and stuff like that, um a lot of people, one of the courses that they take is cruise ship management, right? That's like a college course that they can take and stuff. And you know, you you'll if you go on cruises, you'll see a lot of foreigners working on cruises and stuff like that. Um whether they're from Africa or Philippines, you know, stuff like that or whatever. Um a lot of times because they speak English, you know, so um you know, Philippines, they they speak Tagalo, but mostly all of them learn English as well, you know. English, they they speak English. But man, that she gota be Filipino, man. I know that. I [snorts] know that accent now. I I I this I I spent six months in the Philippines. I know that accent, man, man. I got to get I got to get me on a cruise, man. What? >> How How on a percentage How much percentage you think it's her? >> 80%. >> 80. Okay, perfect. That's That's good enough for me as far as what you can remember. Like I said, it was traumatic and we understand that. >> So, what I need you to do is can can you just >> Okay, perfect. Catherine, all right, they're going to get you out in the dock. So, thank you very much and we'll get you all set. Okay. >> All right. >> Yeah, but damn. I mean, come on, man. you just doing your job and everything like that and then for no reason you just spray one of the workers. Like the workers don't deserve to be treated like that. They work hard and they're away from their families. You know, even even the um you know the there's there's Americans that work on the cruise ships too. You know what I mean? Maybe in entertainment or whatever. You know, it's a mixture of everybody that works on these cruise ships. and they're all making sacrifices to be there. That's a it's a tough job. Even it could be a fun job, right? You're traveling stuff like that, but you're working though. You're working, you know, and you know, they have contracts and stuff like that, you know, whatever. They might do uh six months, you know, stuff like that or whatever, a year, whatever their contract is. and um they don't deserve to be treated like that, you know. That's that's that's very unfortunate. >> Thank you. >> Thanks. I'm going to go with you. >> So, do you know why we're here? >> No. >> No clue whatsoever. >> Oh, this is the one. Huh? >> Now, tell me I I don't know what's happening. >> Okay. So, right now, you're not under arrest or anything like that, but you're not free to leave. So before we go any further, like I said, you're not under arrest right now. Okay. I have to read you your your MIRANDA RIGHT BEFORE I CAN ASK you any questions or talk to you any further. Okay. >> Oh, yeah. >> Oh, yeah. >> I need um see somebody speak Spanish. >> Yeah, Spanish. Yes, >> please. No, no, no, no, no. >> You're not. No, >> I'll explain everything. >> She understand English now. She needs Spanish. Yeah. Okay. Let's get somebody ASAP. Underlay. Let's get stuff out of here. [laughter] Yeah. Okay. >> Anything to you, but I have to read the >> jail. Understand that. Jail. >> Read this first. Okay. >> But what's happened with the police? I don't know. >> I'll explain everything in just a couple of minutes. Okay. You said you wanted someone that speaks Spanish, so they're going to get someone that speaks Spanish to translate. Okay. >> Okay. >> Translate my butt. She know. This is our colleague Gabriella. She speaks very I can talk to her and ask her any questions. I have to read her her rights. >> Okay. See, she know her ass is grass. You see, when they interviewed the other ones, they reacted, you know, of course. You know, but not like this. You know why she reacting like this? Because she knows she done messed up and Big Bertha is waiting on her in that jail cell. >> Before any questioning, if you wish, Wait. [ __ ] I don't know. >> Was she out on the ship last night on the second deck? Right, was where it happened. Deck two. >> Yeah. >> Deck six. >> Deck six. >> About midnight, 1:00 in the morning. >> She said she was with a group of friends. >> Who Who were the friends? >> Choice here. >> Mhm. >> Because everything's on video. >> Mhm. And it it only makes it worse if she tries to cover up a mistake. >> So she doesn't she doesn't remember. >> Was she that intoxicated that she doesn't she blacked out and doesn't remember? >> It's not an excuse, but I'm just for curiosity. >> She said she was wrong. >> Okay. Stand up. >> I'm done. Come on. Stand up. >> Yeah. I'm done with the game. >> No. Put your hand. Don't >> tell her to put her hands behind her back. Don't resist us. >> No, go forward. Don't go forward. >> Don't >> tell her cuz she's going to wind up She's getting up on the ground and hurting. Behind her back. Okay. >> She's getting up on the ground and hurting. >> Behind your back. Okay. >> No. No. Okay. Okay. What I do? >> She's asking >> what I do. >> Okay. But what I do tell her she sprayed one of the crew members with a chemical that the chem that the crew members now go into the house. I have two ways. >> I don't I don't do that. Nothing. No. >> No. I don't do that. >> I don't do that. >> Two people said you did it. >> No. >> And the crew member picked you out. >> No, I don't do that. >> From the photo. No, I don't do that. I don't do that, >> sir. I don't >> Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. You do that. You do that. Big Bertha waiting on you down there, boy. Oh, yeah. You don't treat people like that, man. That's That's scumbag behavior. >> Three people that said you did. >> You look Stop. You understand what I'm saying? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, you do speak English. >> No, I I speak I speak English. >> You understand, right? So here here's what happened. Your day in court will happen. And if you didn't do it, fight it in court, but you're going to jail. >> She understands. >> He said you did it. >> No. >> And she said you did it. >> Your friends. >> No, I don't do that. >> Your friend >> I don't do that. Your friend said you're the one that did it. >> The girl that got sprayed. >> You're the one that did it. >> Yeah. >> You just said that you were so drunk. You don't know. So, how can you tell me? Okay. Well, she let her know. I've got three people that said she did. Three witnesses that say she did. She'll get her day in court and she can plead her case to the judge. >> Okay. >> End of it. She's going to jail. >> And Anna, you still smell the booze? >> Yeah. Literally smell the alcohol. >> Too much to drink, my man. >> My girl, whatever. >> My man. >> Oh yeah. Enjoy the cruise, folks. >> No, with the with the other people >> with the other people, the witnesses. >> Johnny got all the information, I'm going to guess. So yeah, they they're good to enjoy the rest. Just need your ID for the jail. >> You're good. >> All suspects are innocent. Looking for [music] answers as the world goes by. >> Watching the reality hit the screen. >> The craziest moments that you've ever seen. [music] reaction. >> Captured full time.
