[Music] as a society do we want to live in a world where anyone can legally buy weapons that the police are scared of assault style weapons that are weapons of war we need to ban assault weapons in high-capacity magazines they are weapons of war and weapons of death and weapons of destruction that we should not permit out here you're paying for the weapons of war on our streets do you believe weapons of war belong on the streets of our communities in the hands of everyday americans and purchase these weapons of war the venom of the haters and their weapons of war to get these weapons of war assault weapons finally ridding our streets of weapons of war and assault weapons is one of those limits we've had what we should be doing is taking these weapons of war out of the hands of civilians these weapons of war are killing people in our communities weapons of war because they see what these weapons of war do on the street an assault weapon is a weapon of war with no place no place in a civil society uh my bill that i've introduced dealing with with the caliber weapon i've held an ar-15 in my hand i wish i had it it is as heavy as 10 boxes that you might be moving and the bullet that is utilized a 50 caliber these kinds of bullets need to be licensed and do not need to be on the streets the assault weapons ban is a necessity they are weapons of war and weapons of death and weapons of destruction that we should not permit out here and assault weapons is one of those limits we've had assault weapons are made to kill because when they're hit with an assault weapon they cannot be identified they are obliterated they are weapons of war and weapons of death and weapons of destruction that we should not permit out here they post ghoulish photos of themselves with weapons of war and use it as their christmas cards an assault style weapon weapons of war a semi-automatic assault rifle an assault weapon or an assault style weapon the weapon of war these are dangerous and unusual the scourge of gun violence gun violence gun violence we are paying for gun violence every single day of our lives the gun violence scourge of gun violence out of control gun violence in america gun violence epidemic of gun violence common sense gun violence legislation to gun violence horrific gun violence problem desperately needing to stop gun violence the level of gun violence in our country is not normal gun violence and public safety but what's the common denominator in gun violence attacks it's the guns our gun violence rate is 22 times greater than it is in europe and 23 times the rate of firearm homicide seen in australia gun owners americans by and large want these measures among gun owners and they only polled gun owners 86 percent support background checks 76 support safe storage 67 percent support red flag laws those are gun owners we meet to consider legislation that is supported by the vast majority of the american people who favor a universal violent criminal background check for all firearm purchases by a remarkable 89 margin that means 9 out of 10 americans support it ban bump stocks background checks red flag laws banning bum stocks and banning high-capacity magazines gun violence now tops car accidents as the leading cause of death of children in america let's ban high-capacity magazines ban bump stock reinstate the assault weapons you will not stop us from advancing the protecting our kids act today the protecting our kids act and protect our kids the protecting our kids act the second amendment like the first is not absolute the second amendment like the first is not absolute like most rights the rights secured by the second amendment is not unlimited like the other rights secured by the bill of rights the rights secured by the second amendment is not without limits there's no unlimited use of guns and in dc versus haller the supreme court said the second amendment does not create an absolute and unlimited right to gun ownership but rather right to have a handgun in your home for purposes of self-defense and a right to long guns for purposes of hunting and recreation but the second amendment right itself is subject to reasonable regulation in the interests of public safety and public security in the name of all who have perished at the hands of a firearm we must do something do something do something doing nothing is not a solution it's only the united states is a wash in 400 million guns maybe it's just me i would rather say get rid of the ar-15s and make these officers jobs a lot more safe maybe it's just me i'm holding the constitution i don't see a match that's lit the constitution that has extinguished it where is there outrage over the slaughter of 19 fourth graders that losing some of these is worth it to prevent losing more of these the american people are begging for us to address this crisis for common sense necessary life-saving gun reforms but i would hope i would just hope that after a tragedy like this americans could agree i don't see any elimination of the second amendment that needs a constitutional process to even address that question we'll be voting on uh on red flag laws which florida passed which have now been used 5800 times we're in a crisis of death we have a war on the children of america please god let us stop the shame on our country pass these laws for it is a sin and a shame on us shame on us we can't move legislation now our souls are being drenched out of this society a seven week waiting period is a necessity actions against manufacturers to give civil liability is a necessity common sense gun safety measured but there was body armor and an automatic weapon why are we running away from this style weapon as being unnecessary on the streets of america why are we running away from bump stocks that helped kill 59 in las vegas why are we running away or am i to not be concerned about my officers hpd this is the real ghost gun that shot my
