On today's body cam, we're checking out she went on a felony shopping spree. They watched her every move. >> On November 9th, 2021, officers were dispatched to the mall in response to an active shoplifting incident with the suspect's every move under close surveillance. >> Mhm. >> You have to go right back there. First to the left. >> Okay. >> First to the left. >> So, um >> I'm going. Where did he go? You're good. Hey. Hello. Hello. >> Come on in. >> You got something right now? >> Yeah. >> Come on in. She got something else. >> Where is she at? >> She's up in kids polo. She come out out the door here, take a left, go straight down, take a right. She's going to be right there. >> Actually, so it's on the second floor? >> Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. So, how is this going to be? >> Have you all seen her already stuff items? >> Or do you know anything? >> In her in her bag. She's We think she's got some sort of tool. She's fiddling with the sensors. She keeps going back into her bra. >> Okay. Do you all want to wait for her to pass anything or how do you all what >> Do you all want us to make contact now? >> Yeah. >> So, do you all want >> Wait you guys >> We preferred to wait until she leaves. >> Wait until she leaves that way? >> Yeah, she she going to court. She can't say, you know, I didn't have my phone or something. >> Hey, so she's going to be on the second floor. It's going to be a black female, heavy set, stuffing items into her bag. Um they want to wait white shirt, black pants. They want to wait until she uh leaves. So, um then we'll just go ahead and make contact with her. Then but we got eyes on her. She's in the children section on the second floor. >> Okay. >> I don't think it's going to be super high dollar. The fact that she's got a tool with her. >> It's going to be a lot. >> She's taking a lot. >> I mean, Old Navy, which is pretty expensive, too. >> She's taking a decent The bag's definitely getting a lot bigger as she's going. I just don't know how much longer she's going to be in here. >> So, those are Old Navy. Is that Old Navy on the bag? >> Yep. >> You all got some good cameras. It looks like some CIA FBI kind of >> [laughter] >> crazy that you see on TV. >> I wish I had the popcorn so we can She's not very slick about it. Picked her out right away. She's looking around for other people but she's failing to look up and notice that there's cameras here. >> They should just It's 2021. Every place has cameras. They could >> What is this, Target? Where is this? Cuz if this is Target, that definitely doesn't surprise me. Target is known for you know, having good security systems and stuff like that. >> Zoom in and read your text messages. Don't do anything illegal. >> It's >> What is >> It's better to be safe than sorry. >> it into the Old Navy bag or her purse? >> I don't know about her purse though. >> I also want hand in the purse. >> I think it's >> But she's putting items in both bags. >> Yeah, she keeps going up behind the rack so we've we've caught like partially concealing it but we know it's going in the bag. She's coming out without it. >> Have you guys actually seen the tool? >> We can't slide some kind of curve hook or something. >> So they can get the sensor off. >> What's she using that? Oh. >> Yeah, she's getting the sensors off. >> She's sticking it in the top. And maybe it's not uncommon or it's not super common but sometimes they use razor blades. >> She's sticking like some kind of hook that she's sticking in here. >> Wow. >> And she's concealing in the bra. >> She keep going in and out of her shirt. >> Crazy. This is how criminals do Christmas shopping? >> Oh, yeah. >> And you said that >> Two people >> I got to work a extra few hours and then go on a random day off and go That's how I do my Christmas shopping. >> We got two people the other day who said they were in here doing some early Christmas shopping when we asked them why they were in here stealing. >> Wow. They actually said that? >> Yeah. >> Oh, damn. >> Do you know that actually that black hole through cameras from there working? >> Why would they do that? >> It's not like the cameras are good. >> It's what you're teaching to them when they're doing that whole looking around. They think they're being sus- like not suspicious, but they >> See, people do these things because they think that because it's a big corporation that they're not hurting anybody, right? Cuz it's a big corporation, yada yada. The same thing with like when people do like check fraud or bank fraud and stuff like that, they say, "Well, you know, we're not hurting the person, we're hurting the bank, right?" Because, you know, your your money is secured up until $250,000 or whatever. You If you look at the back of your card or whatever, everyone knows that, right? So, you're going to get your money back, right? If someone, you know, let's say someone cashes a check in your name or whatever, they whatever, right? They take money out of your account, you're going to you're secured, right? So, you're going to get that money back. It may take some time, but you'll you'll eventually get it back. So, it's the same It's the same kind of thing that applies to these people that are shoplifting. Of course, they're just some bum-ass people, right? You know what I'm saying? Stealing [ __ ] But, also, sometimes criminals they think about it as if like, "Okay, well, I'm not hurting anybody. It's the store. It's the corporation. They they could afford to lose a couple of hundred or whatever the case may be." But, the problem is with that is that if they keep getting thefts and stuff like that, they're going to raise the prices of everything, you know? And that actually ends up hurting everyone in the long run. So, I just say that to say this. When that other officer was like, "Man, this is how This is what they do. They just come in here and get their shopping done for Christmas and steal and this There's more to it. A lot of times these guys think that they're not hurting anybody but the the corporation. >> I don't know where she's dropping the sensor or if she's putting the sensors in her shirt or if she's going to dump them later or something. >> So, is that usually what y'all do is y'all wait for them to leave so you can go ahead and just get >> because the company have it like uh you get sued because you get stopped before they leave and it's going to uh what's going to be right. >> Yeah, you have to show the >> Because you have an exit at the store. >> And then it's so easy if they leave cuz they just didn't pay for it and they left. >> She just passed the last point of sale. So, your intention was not good. >> Yeah. >> Right now, I'm going to say she's probably around the $300 mark, but I'm not positive cuz like I said, you can't see everything she's concealing, but >> Oh, yep. >> She just put something else in here. >> Yep. She's nervous. I think she might go up or I think she's just going to look for the closest door. Out to mall. She's on the escalator heading downstairs. She's walking towards the entrance. >> Inside of the mall? >> Yeah, like going into the mall. I'm on my way over there. >> Okay. >> Okay. 41 to 44, she's going back to the Abercrombie side. Stay over there. She She walked out. 41 TO 44, SHE JUST WALKED OUT. >> NOW, WHAT IS THIS? MACY'S? I CAN'T SEE THE NAME. >> All right, we got her. >> Oh, Belkin? Belkin? What the hell was that? I don't know what that is. >> Oh, she's duct taping. Have a seat. >> Busted. >> what you have, is it in your bag? >> Is it in your purse? >> Yeah. There we got it. >> I never even heard of that store before. >> I think that's everything. >> I think she got her new shirt. >> Oh, okay. Well, I think they'll be looking at that, too. Stand up, honey. Okay. >> What's your idea of something? >> This right here. >> Search her real good. She got that device. >> Turn around, because it's on your back. This is what we saw. This right here. >> Yeah, that's it. >> Mhm. And this is like This is supposed to be toenail clippers, right? And it snips stuff, and then this goes inside. Yep, to take the sensors off. Okay. Oh, okay. Let me put that in my purse. Okay. Thank you. >> 1622, she took over a van? Wow. >> You have a receipt that's dated and timestamped for today. For today. >> No, it wasn't for today. It was just in that bag, but I got the receipt for that. It was I swear to God, it was bought off my card. You can call >> So, you paid for that how long ago? When When did you buy this? 4 days ago, and it happens to be in the same bag with the merchandise that you stole today. >> I bought that bag in here. You can look at your camera and see. I bought that bag in here with that in here because I was returning it. I came in here and I originally came to return a purse that I bought off of If you want to see my purse >> So, okay. Well, let me look at the receipts. They can be >> Do you have proof that you did already buy that? >> Besides >> Yeah, that makes sense. That makes sense. Perfect sense, man. She originally She brought that in. See, originally she was just in there to do a return. But then she just got sidetracked by all the items that she seen at her disposal. That'll be easy to take. She already brought her tools, her equipment with her. Come on, man. Full of it, man. >> I know, but I understand you have to >> a Dillard's merchandise. >> It doesn't say that these pants are bought. It just says a a random store from Dillard's. >> Come on. >> No, those pants were bought. >> Pants from Dillard's in an Old Navy bag with merchandise that he stole from Dillard's >> She had a receipt and a purse that she pulled out and tried to talk me into that bag to look like she was paying for it. She probably used it in another store. >> I came in here with a purse. Okay, I had it in an Old Navy bag with those pants. And I had it in my purse. I returned that purse See, that's proof of the purchase right there on the bag. The yellow sticker. No, look on the back of the tag you just looked at. That's proof of the purchase. That's what they put on there when you steal. >> Proof of purchase is required for a return. >> Yeah, that's >> That's when you steal it and you go in and you try to say, "Hey, I bought this, but I lost my receipt. So, can I return this?" And then they It doesn't matter. She's already going to jail. It was over a felony amount. It doesn't matter. >> Yeah, I know it's not a big deal out of it. But she was asking me a question. >> Okay. 619 Hold on. 562 So, that's the amount that we have to Yeah. >> Which one? >> The subtotal not including the tax. But that's still Yeah. It's It's on here. I was just looking at the wrong amount. You're good. It's okay. You're going to be able to keep the pants. It's just going to go in the storage bag while you're in jail. >> Do you still want to go to go to jail for for shoplifting and guilt? >> No. So, your purse is going to go into the property room for safekeeping. When you get out, you can go there and pick it up. But this stuff, your phone, your cards, ID, and keys I'll take with you. >> So, you'll have that. Most people need that stuff with them. >> You got kids or you trying to sell that? >> I have kids. >> Did that stuff was going to go to? >> No. What do you want to happen? >> You work? >> I was going to sell it. >> Man, she trying to sell it. She trying to flip it, man. She trying to get that money. She ain't getting that for her kids. >> Sell it. >> Get that Uber/Lyft job, get a few extra dollars in the legal >> Most people need that stuff with them. >> You got kids or you trying to sell that? >> I have kids. >> Did that stuff was going to go to? >> No. What do you want to happen? >> You work? >> I was going to sell it. >> Get that Uber/Lyft job, get a few extra dollars in the legal way. Think of it as a learning experience. >> How she going to get keys to get in the house and stuff? This is all I got. >> People be killing it on Uber. >> Then I got >> She doesn't have her own keys to the house? >> Well, she had none. Somebody stole her purse, so she just lost everything, but >> [snorts] >> I have a cousin in Gainesville, but >> Uber, you can make a good like 200. At least At least 200 a day. >> Felony shoplifting and also possession of tools in a commission of a crime. Let's take this as a learning experience and try not to let it happen again.
