I can't record it cuz it's unlawful. >> Well, you go do what you going to do. >> Wait a minute. Have we just found the unicorn good cop who instead of violating and depriving people of their rights decided to stand up against his own officers and defend this man's rights? >> It's not against It's not against the law to drink and drive. I mean, it's not against the law to have a beer and drive. You know what I'm saying? >> Hey, Sergeant Brown. >> That's his choice. I got to prove that he's not safe. I can't It's against I I I'll violate his fifth amendment rights. >> No, I can't record it cuz it's unlawful. >> Well, you go do what you going to do. I'll take care of it. >> This incident began on April 21st, 2024. A Rinns, Georgia police officer pulled this guy over supposedly for swerving. We all know that without dash cam proof that this guy was actually swerving and with law enforcement's culture of deception and lies, it's highly likely that this man is innocent of any vehicle infraction. But being suspicious that the guy had been drinking, the cop calls in over the radio for a breathalyzer device to be brought to the scene. That's when officer Quincy J. Cannon arrives and things take an unexpected turn. Let's watch this video together and I'll make some comments along the way. >> Hey, how you doing? >> Pretty good. >> Hey, we got a call about you all over the roadway. Then I get behind you and you was swerving a little bit. >> No, I followed him behind that trailer right there. >> You followed behind that trailer right there? >> Yeah. >> Okay. You You come over You come over a few times. Do you got your driver's license on you? Have you been drinking today? >> No, I've been chewing No, I've been chewing tobacco today. >> Chewing tobacco, okay. >> Yeah. >> Where are y'all headed to? >> That's where I live. >> You dropped your truck off? >> Where I mean, where is that? >> Uh any lane right here. >> Is this your car or his car? >> No, it is his car. >> This one is? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> It's his mom's car. >> All right, just up. What's up? >> Camden Road. I was sitting drinking a beer, but he was in my way and then >> Never admit to any police officer that you drank anything that day. As a matter of fact, we all know it's not a good idea to talk to police or answer any of their questions that don't relate to the traffic stop. >> What? I hate this whole system. >> Uh-huh. >> I hate this crap on here. Sometimes you got to type it in multiple times to get it pulled up right. Uh she is wanted. The owner of the vehicle is wanted. >> Three and three oh three central, show me on scene. >> Yeah, um so I don't know. I don't know. >> Probably going to have to get it towed. >> You said you needed out the center? The out the center? >> Joe there. >> I'm going to go in here. >> So, doing the DUI? Who's doing the DUI? >> Why y'all trying to make it up? >> Okay. Well, who stopped the car? >> He did. >> So, he did? >> Yeah. >> Oh. Cuz y'all asked for alcohol sensor. I'm like, I thought y'all already did everything, the testing and stuff. >> By the way, you know this department is bad news when they have blacked-out vehicles. >> Hey. >> Huh? >> I'm not I'm not I'm not sure y'all want to work it. I'm not arresting nobody. Because >> 302 is something >> doing anything. >> I got to check for that. You still got me on nights. So, unless y'all want to work a DUI, if not, I'm going to have somebody come pick him up. >> I said okay. Who stopped the car? >> I did. >> Is I got I got I got called for it. >> Your body camera is upside down. >> Yeah, so what is? But, yeah, yeah, I just got called. Y'all asked for alcohol sensor. I have an alcohol sensor whoever needs it. >> Okay. Yeah, just let me see it real quick. I'm going to have him blow into it. >> I mean, if you don't want to blow into it, you know, you don't have to. You know that? It's not against It's not against the law to drink and drive. I mean, it's not against the law to have a beer and drive. You know what I'm saying? >> Yeah, we got to see if he >> When was the last time you heard a police officer say, "It's not against the law to drink and drive"? Or even, "It's not against the law to have a beer and drive"? That's pretty refreshing. >> drink and drive. >> And And how can you prove that? I I mean, I have the most training right now on scene. >> Then you may get out. >> You didn't act like it, did you? I am acting like that. I'm telling >> What are you talking about? >> I'm I'm telling I'm >> Okay, well, here you go. You deal with it. >> No, I'm saying like >> How you deal with it? You got it? >> So, the officer who initiated the stop is leaving the scene. Doesn't that mean the stop is over? >> If it would help what I could do I would take him into the office. >> Come on. >> I don't know what he's dealing with but come on. >> So, what was unsafe about him? >> He just basically throws a silent fit and leaves. This is the inside of his cruiser as he's leaving. >> Rains 102 central. I'm in service. Turn over to whoever. >> Turn over to who whatever. What the >> Copy that. >> Central, I'm out of service off duty. Just >> Copy that. >> Hey Siri. Call John Maynard. >> Just leaving the scene that he initiated. >> Hey, how you doing? >> Hi sir. My name is officer Cannon. I work for Rains Police Department. What happened today? >> I don't know. >> Central, I'm out of service off >> I got pulled over. >> Copy that. >> You got pulled over? Okay. By him? >> I don't know. >> Okay. By him or who? Okay. Okay. All right. How much you had to drink today? >> I had one beer today. >> Okay. >> And that's it. >> Okay. >> Now, I know my blood pressure is up. >> Okay. >> Well, what we want to do is we just want to check you. >> All right. It's your choice. Do you want to blow on this? Well, I I got I got to see right now I mean you looking functional to me. It's not It's not like that. I I don't see nothing. I didn't stop you. Like this is this is completely uh Yeah. I I I I didn't I didn't stop you. >> Oh, this is completely crazy. Shall we fill in the blank here? This is completely insane. This is antithetical to the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. This isn't what we signed on for. What like what are you trying to say here, Cannon? >> What they saying I was swerving all over the road. >> I wasn't. >> Look, bottom line is we just want you to blow in this. That way we can see if you can uh are able to drive. >> The thing is Brown, I'm >> I'm not going to blow in that. >> Okay, and this is >> I'm not I'm not I wasn't swerving. >> I don't know who called y'all. I'll drive him to the shop. Take your truck to the shop. >> I ain't starting Brown. That's his choice. I got to prove that he's less safe. I can't It's against I I'll violate his fifth amendment rights. >> No, he was proved less safe when he was crossing that line. >> And and I I >> What cop causing what lane? I did not. >> I don't know about you, but I tend to believe the old guy. I don't believe the cops at all. Unless you got it on camera, it didn't happen. And you can never take a cop's word for it. If you're believing half of what a cop says, you're believing twice as much as you should. >> What cop causing what lane? I did not. >> He doesn't want to blow in that. That's his That's his choice. I I got to visibly see what's like When I make my DUI, I visibly see abnormal behaviors. >> Well, not going to hold court side room. One, we're not going to argue with each other in front of people. We're here to back one another up, okay? >> Okay, and Joey left. >> Okay, well, I can't help what Joey did. Now it's me and you here. >> Okay. >> We're here to back one another up. Even if what I'm doing is wrong, I expect you to back me up because that's what the thin blue line does. >> Cuz that's what heroes do. >> So, we're going to do what's got to be done. >> Okay, and and what's that? now we look like complete idiots to them, okay? Okay. So so so so Right now you look like complete idiots. You always look like complete idiots. I mean, who wears a costume when it's not even close to Halloween and pretends like they have authority over everybody? So what do you want me to do? If he Joey If Joey stop. Joey don't want to do nothing with it, that's fine. He don't want to blow in it, that's fine. But he's not driving that car away from here. I can't refuse to drive it. I can't record it because it's unlawful. Well, you go do what you're going to do. I'll take care of it. Okay. Okay, this is where we're going >> Sir, here goes your ID right here. >> Based on his driving, we got a call that he was all over the road. One time he was getting in the other lane. We got behind him back there. And he was going over the line. Still hitting the yellow line close to the curb. And we don't bother you unless you hit it about three or four times. It's a problem. So that's what That's why he got pulled over. Okay. He admitted he's been drinking. >> Cannon is pissed. >> I had one beer. >> Yeah, okay, sir. He admitted he's been drinking. >> Yes, sir. >> All right. The officer that stopped him already said he wasn't going to pursue no DUI with >> Yes, sir. >> Unlock him up. But what we want to do is check him and see if he was okay to drive. >> Yes, sir. >> But since he refused to let us check him, then um I need somebody to drive that vehicle. >> Well, what I can do I can let him get in with me. I'm going to go right down to the loader and unload my truck. I'll come back and load this one up and take it back to box. >> Okay. >> Cuz I don't want him getting hurt and I don't want him hurting nobody else. >> Well, I mean cuz I mean he he he was doing me a favor cuz I mean I don't have a vehicle at the time. >> it could just be his blood pressure. We don't know. >> Yes, sir. I understand. >> Well, like I said, it could be his sugar. It could be his sugar out of whack. We don't know. But I just don't want him getting hurt. well if it's okay, we'll just leave this here. I'm going to run that truck down the road and we'll come back and load this one up and I'll just drive both of them back. I would rather do that because I appreciate y'all for what y'all are doing for me. I'm going to leave the truck right here and we're going to go on and unload it. Okay. I appreciate y'all. Thank y'all. Have a good day, sir. >> So, what about Officer Cannon? Is he a good cop? We know that right here he did a good thing. According to records, he was a Richmond County Deputy from June 2018 until late 2022. He's a former Marine and he was the agency's 2021 Deputy of the Year. In December of 2022, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested him along with Deputies Andrew Acosta and Robert Wilson on battery and violation of oath charges. The allegation was that they beat Vernon Craddock Jr. while he was handcuffed in an elevator at the Sheriff's Headquarters after Craddock was accused of shooting Deputy Michael Cole in the face. On December 20th, 2022, Cannon says a Chief Deputy told him to resign or be fired. He resigned in lieu of termination. His last day was December 22nd. A grand jury declined to indict him on May 9th, 2023. After that, he sued the Sheriff's Office in April 2024 in federal court claiming racial discrimination and constructive discharge. He says white deputies in comparable force cases were treated more leniently. And that's what sparked this news story. >> Two former Richmond County Deputies are finally breaking their silence about what they say really happened the night a fellow deputy was shot in the face. Quincy Cannon, Robert Wilson, and Andrew Acosta were arrested after the suspect claimed they assaulted him while he was handcuffed in an elevator. A grand jury decided not to indict the deputies, clearing them of their charges. But tonight, Cannon and Wilson tell our I-Team's Meredith Anderson that's not enough. >> They pull up to the sheriff's office just before 4:30 a.m. It's difficult to see much of anything on this particular camera, but Quincy Cannon and Robert Wilson say, "After a very long shift, their body cams ran out of battery." >> Mine had died at the scene. >> Mine's died at the scene as well. >> So, this is all investigators had to go on when Vernon Craddock Jr. claimed he was beaten while handcuffed once deputies were able to get him alone in the elevator. >> I'm thinking there's cameras at the sheriff's office or an elevator. Apparently, there's no cameras in the elevator. So, when we get >> didn't know there were no cameras >> No, we thought cameras was all over the place. >> Yes, it's the sheriff's office. It would have been better if we took him to the jail. Cuz there's there I there is no shadow of a doubt there's cameras at that jail. We should >> Do you wish you would have taken >> I wish I would have took him to the jail instead. >> Why did you take him to the sheriff's office? >> Cuz we were instructed to take him to the sheriff's office. >> Had cameras been rolling though, Cannon says we would have seen Craddock try to headbutt them. He says his training kicked in. >> When I hit him with my left hand, that's my weak hand. I said, "Stop." It was two quick uh it was two quick strikes to gain control of him. He stopped, I stopped, and that was the end of that. >> It happened so fast, Wilson says, he never saw anything. >> Since it happened in the elevator, you was in there, you must have known about it. I was like, "Even though my back was turned?" He was like, "Yeah, you failed to report it." I was like, "Report what? Something I didn't see?" And that was that's what had me I guess aggravated and upset the whole time. Yeah, you I get charged on the assumptions by what investigator thought. >> The I-Team obtained these new pictures of Cradick just after he claimed he was assaulted. The only visible injuries are to his lip, but both Cannon and Wilson say they believe that happened prior to any of this. They both say they're shocked it rose to the level of criminal charges, but what came next they say was more shocking. They were told they could resign and maybe get their jobs back or be terminated. Wilson chose to be terminated. Cannon chose to resign. >> In January of 2026, he filed a state bar complaint against Augusta District Attorney Jared Williams alleging unequal access to grand jury materials during the later certification review. He was hired by the Rens Police Department in June of 2023, then resigned in lieu of termination on July 11th, 2024 after an internal probe into claims that he used his badge to pursue a personal relationship with a woman whose boyfriend he had arrested. He later worked for the Taliaferro County Sheriff's Office until he voluntarily resigned in July of 2026. In September of 2026, the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council voted to revoke the certifications of Cannon, Acosta, and Wilson over the 2022 elevator case and for Cannon, the Rens findings. Cannon claims that the certifications were still active pending appeal and that he's challenging the decision. So, what do you guys think?
