first and foremost I would say you know
always in any traffic stop pull over as
safely as you can always pull over to
the right put your car in park don't
ever leave it and drive and when the
officer approaches you just follow all
the instructions that he'll give you can
you roll the back window down for me
please
thank you hey sir you can put your hands
on the steering wheel for me while I
talk to you my name is deputy Cronin I'm
with the Sheriff's Department the reason
I pulled you over is because back there
you roll through the stop sign you
didn't make a complete stop do you have
your driver's license insurance
registration with you can you grab that
for me please
thank you sir all right so hang on just
tight for just a minute I'll come and
I'll talk to you in just a minute right
thank you sir
any point you're welcome to ask for the
deputy officer's name if they didn't
introduce themselves you're welcome to
ask for a batch number and they should
always tell you why they pulled you over
the reason for the stop now if you have
a reason to believe or you're suspicious
about the individual that's pulling you
over and you're not sure whether it's an
actual police officer you you can call
and request to have a supervisor show up
at the traffic stop
if the person is refusing or if they're
not wanting to get their supervisor
there that might be a cue at which point
if it makes you feel like your life is
in danger then you can call 911
otherwise I would say just call the non
emergency dispatch number and then just
ask to speak to a supervisor at that
point I would just like to remind
everybody that any contact that they
have with law enforcement we're here to
help you guys we're here to keep the
public safe keep your family safe and
don't be afraid to ask questions
we're not offended by questions we're
not offended by if you guys aren't sure
of why you're being stopped or any other
situation that you might encounter in
law enforcement so just keep in mind
that we're here to keep everybody safe
we're here to help the community and we
look forward to any chance that we can
help people out
