on December 1st 2024 officers with the
Brian Police Department in Ohio
responded to a call from a civilian who
recognized a man with an active felony
warrant however the situation quickly
escalated when the officer saw two young
children in the backseat of the vehicle
and you'll never guess the string of
events that happen next Zach how's it

due to deteriorating weather conditions
and high rates of Speed The Pursuit was
called off meanwhile a Second Officer
met the stranded mother in the parking
lot who had just received a phone call
from the
suspect I

Defiance at by the stop sign just on the
side of the road the light you go

has a curve where you can go towards

9-month-old baby 10 minutes after the
mother received the phone call from the
suspect however according to the police
report he was left in the elements for
approximately 1 hour the baby was
transported to a hospital in Toledo
where he was was treated for deep tissue
bruising and hypothermia and later
released to his mother in full healthy
condition the suspect's vehicle was
located at a stone quar outside of
ederton with his 5-year-old daughter
still in the back seat cold but
physically unharmed the suspect was
nowhere to be found the next day
officers with the ederton police
department acted on a tip and located An
Empty Apartment to which officers were
told the suspect had a key which one

the video as Zachary was taken to Brian
ER according to the police report an
officer found a butane torch in his
pocket and a glass meth pipe with
residue in his left sock he was charged
with four felony counts failure to
comply felonious assault endangering
children and trespass of a
habitation he also had two felony
warrants out of Dalal County for a host
of alleged crimes such as obstruction of
justice identity deception theft and
resisting law enforcement both children
were safely reunited with their mother
while the father waits in jail for trial

of the day when temperatures hovered

was left in 24° temperatures now let's
be honest every human being has the
potential to be evil or selfish and most
of us have heard the term
self-preservation which we all do to
some extent but if you think about it
when a person can take the action of
trying to escape the police in a vehicle
with kids in the car mindu that takes
evil and selfishness to a whole new
level now on my old stumping ground the
Philadelphia Police Department vehic
Pursuits have become a scorching Hot
Topic and there's always many questions
about safety and policy and most times
are called off as soon as they begin due
to safety concerns and truth be told the
geographical landscape of Philadelphia
doesn't make it easy for police vehicles
to maneuver through safely and the
safety of the public is always the
priority as we saw in the video today
the officer engaged in a Pursuit as soon
as the mail took off in his vehicle
which was smart in my opinion because he
was able to keep the mail in sight which
is an important factor in most police
policies across the United States and in
Ohio their policy clearly states that an
officer can only pursue a a vehicle
under exent circumstances and when the
officer observed the possible wed felon
with children in the car take off that
does constitute an exent circumstance
now I was involved in a few vehicle
Pursuits during my career some as a
passenger and some as a driver and to be
honest whether I was pursuing a bank
robber or a simple traffic violation it
was never worth injuring an unsuspecting
Citizen and that's why many Pursuits are
called off and when looking at this
Pursuit as a whole the children the
speeds the weather and plus the door
being open during most of the pursuit it
was wise to call it off because just in
too Ohio in 202 2 there were 170
reported police Pursuits and in
Pennsylvania of that same year there
were over 2,700 police Pursuits and that
is a lot and we know that they could be
dangerous but overall this was a great
Collective effort of all officers
involved they did great initially at the
start of the pursuit and in getting
those children home and safe and
thankfully the baby was still in the car
seat which definitely shows that these
car seats they do save lives and
speaking of car seats just for your
information whether you're an expected
parent or been one for a few years
always make sure you do your research to
find the best car seat for your child's
size and also remember to change your
car seat as your children grow and also
change it every 6 to 10 years because
they do expire but lastly something to
keep in mind you may be just going out
for a quick run to the supermarket with
your babies and think nothing can happen
until someone is trying to escape the
police and their consequences while your
kids are in the car and maybe without a
car seat just something to think about
