early in the afternoon on May 20 2022 an
officer from the Racine Police
Department attempted to conduct a
traffic stop the vehicle was the subject
of a search warrant when the officer
attempted to pull over the driver a
short-lived vehicular Pursuit began
however it wouldn't take long for the
suspect to exit his vehicle leading to a
Chase on foot according to the police
report as the officer leaves his vehicle
to commence the chase on foot he notices
the driver is armed with a handgun the
officer orders the suspect to drop the
firearm We Begin hearing the officer
imply that the suspect is going to be
shot if he doesn't comply
get on the ground

the suspect is running away his gun
slips out of his hand the officer
continues his demand for the suspect to
get on the ground
unfortunately the suspect ignores the
officer's request and reaches for the
gun he just dropped at this point the
officer fires four bullets at the
suspect soon after citizens residing in
their houses in the neighborhood start
yelling at the police officer for his
actions

we're on Carroll Street we got uh
Brenner Squad is at 12th and Schiller
with the vehicle in a driveway secure
that car and any occupants uh we are
okay right now get us a rescue squad

eventually more bystanders go outside
and record the aftermath on their cell
phones
somebody got killed I will know if the
cops did it but holy shot shut the
up it was four shots and then all the
cops was out here so I'm thinking the
police I don't know yeah I was in the
house I heard that I was like oh
let me go outside as the onlookers
speak their opinions and observations of
the scene the officers attempt to
perform CPR on the suspect eventually
the suspect was transported to Saint
Mary's Ascension hospital where he was
pronounced deceased it wouldn't take
long for the news to interview locals
who were in the area about the situation
we talked to three neighbors who say
they heard four gunshots they say that
happened just after 1 p.m then they went
out to see what happened and they saw
police trying to revive someone I was in
the house and I heard four gunshots I
ran through the window and I saw my
other two Neighbors on their route down
that way and then I came out and the
police said I could hear them there must
have already been in route coming while
This Woman's account was fairly accurate
it is very common for eyewitnesses to
misrepresent the facts of a case the
Innocence Project and organization
focused around releasing wrongfully
convicted individuals from prison found
that eyewitness accounts were the number
one reason for why an innocent person is
sentenced the following interview
conducted by the local news was recorded
on a bystander cell phone it shows this
exact situation unfolding on camera okay
and so what happened uh I I heard some
noise out the windows I heard somebody
shouting saying Hulk Hulk and when I
looked out the window the police was
chasing the individual he told them hope
and uh he didn't Hulk and he shot and he
shot him three times in the back
did this surprise you yes it did shocked
me was the person armed no he wasn't
um he just said that he was watching
um out his window and he heard the
police basically like say stop three
times and then he heard the police shoot
he didn't see they with no gun it was no
gun out there uh
that's it basically basically they they
didn't have no gun from what he seen
