a peaceful protest becomes not so
peaceful in the early evening of May 9th
2024 Los Cruz's police officers
responded to a pro Palestine protest at
New Mexico State University where
students were blocking the doors of an
administration building as it was
closing preventing faculty members from
leaving to go home by the time the
officers arrive five protesters had
already been arrested by campus police
for Criminal Trespass and resisting
obstructing these five sus ects are
being held inside until the protesters
stop blocking the doors the officers
you're about to see are tasked with
getting the protesters to make enough
room for the suspects inside to leave
the building and be transported to jail
however it quickly escalates from

this is a normal reaction to genocide

14,000 people at this campus less than
two dozen current students participated
in the

are I some people took videos of him
being would you know were you present at

you there were 11 total arrests made due
to this incident only five of which were
actually enrolled at New Mexico State
University eight of the suspects have
been identified of which four of them
were 19 years old two of them were 20
years old one was 22 years old and one
was 23 years old seven out of eight of
these suspects were charged with
criminal trespass and resisting
obstructing the eighth was the suspect
who spat on an officer he was charged
with battery on a piece officer criminal
damage to property of over $11,000 and
resisting obstructing all of the them
are innocent until proven guilty in a
court of law these protest things man
can get ugly all right now where I am in
Pennsylvania you have a unit called the
Civil Affairs unit their job is to
respond to all demonstrations protest
marches right try to keep things you
know at a calm State keep things um
peaceful but a lot of times this cannot
happen because protesters will try to
antagonize the police to get them to
come out of character and act in an
unprofessional way guy gets arrested and
then he ends up going to the hospital
claiming you know police brutality the
sister she comes to the hospital what's
ironic is the officer is trying to get
in there supervisor to get the
information so that he can ascertain if
you know exessive Force took place but
she won't let him in you know and this
is the same type of person that'll put a
complain in against the police but um
will not let the officer do his job here
so it's it's just it's just very very
ironic and here's the thing you have to
maintain professionalism with these
protesters with all people if not you
will end up all over the internet and
that's exactly what they want but a lot
of times it can get ugly back in the
year 2000 I worked a Democratic National
Convention let me tell you they threw
bricks bottles and let's just say some
fluid at us and at that time you can't
be officer friendly people are going to
get arrested the Cuffs are going to come
out and people are going to jail it's
just that simple these protests can get
ugly man so I talk to all my future
police officers out there remember you
have to have self-control and you must
be professional because you're going to
deal with these types of people
