on June 23 2022 deputies in Wood County Wisconsin were on routine Patrol when they came across a vehicle that had been reported as recently stolen from a Walmart parking lot but at the end of the incident deputies would make a stunning discovery oh okay cell phone [Applause] [Music] okay foreign in the ditch all right [Applause] you got PA driver [Applause] put your heads where we can see them he's right there is that a sunroof on it I think we can get him out of on this side yeah I can see his right hand can't see his left can anybody see his left you guys got I can rip that sunroof open I can see a left hand [Music] put your hands on top of your head do not move until we tell you to do you understand do you understand okay I want you to put your feet first out the window out the sunroof okay we're going to rest team fight here do not reach for anything do you understand give me a hand okay give me your hand give them your hand now give me your other hand you're gonna go right in the ground you get out do you understand that belly down below [Applause] [Music] take a car screw while you're on your side does anyone else with you in the vehicle no you don't know if you have any weapons no I don't know where I am 40 seconds you're gonna sit up it's on its side on the opposite side of the ditch so it's gonna be a bit to get it out oh you go mine around whoa all right stop right here after being detained officers call it for urgent medical assistance as a precaution since the vehicle had rolled over at the end of The Chase he's okay eyes are reacting so I'm not concerned with any trauma at the minute ultimately the suspect was not injured after the suspect was detained the police worked to identify him using their in-car computer officers also worked to call the registered owner the phone call was recorded during the phone call the Officers would make a surprising discovery did you did you give Tanner permission to have that no I did not okay um where did you last see it in front of my garage we found it right in Marshfield um and then the pursuit went all the way to Mosinee unfortunately the deputies he just wouldn't stop for us so the deputies had to do a pit maneuver so the vehicle is currently in the ditch on its side so yeah I'm sorry to say that it'll be your decision if you want it back at your house or if it'll be totaled or what the deal will be but it's not it's not in too good a shape right now unfortunately ma'am I once he started dry to drive it's Tanner okay uh he seems to be okay he took off this past weekend and didn't get any medication for it for close to 48 hours so I don't know if he might be having another psychotic break or not okay well just so you know there are extenuating circumstances okay yeah I'll certainly take that into consideration um we will we will definitely do some follow-up probably later tonight um when it's not four in the morning ultimately it was determined that the suspect and the 9-1-1 caller who reported the car stolen from the Walmart parking lot were the same person officers speculated that during the suspects apparently psychotic episode he deliberately called the police on himself as part of a plan to then lead them on a high-speed police chase I think he's been wanting to do something like this I know yeah he called it in said he left the keys and then someone stole it from Walmart like 15 minutes ago so the guy driving calls in his own car and stolen oh yeah I guess we didn't know that he was a driver he didn't either until yeah until he's got pulled up and coughed I'm looking at him I'm like oh he looks familiar court filings indicate he was jailed with a five thousand dollars Bond and charged with felony bail jumping felony fleeing eluding and felony reckless endangerment the charge of Bale jumping was dropped and he pleaded guilty to the remaining charges he was sentenced to two years in state prison and three years of extended supervision assistant
