police department were dispatched to the scene of a hit hand run motor vehicle crash involving at the Thousand for Toyota in the vicinity of s SW Crestview street and SW Alvar Street officer love St Andre arrived on scene to assist officers germer and Gordon around 8:14 p.m. he made contact with the driver who was identified as 25 5-year-old Isabella Isabella who are you driving with I was driving by myself and my daughter you by yourself and your daughter baby in the car I'm so sorry okay I'm glad you're able to tell us the truth though that's much better than how we started I just want to give her a hug before I have to go um and where were you coming from from bars it's it's about two door two roads down sorry I was okay two roads down on the left on or on the right on Barnes b a r n e s on Wadley at w what's the address do you know I don't know Wadley yeah um okay and what what were you what were you doing there I was hanging out with my sister that's my sister's house is that your sister uh my sister in the green shirt my green shirt with my daughter okay what were you doing there I was going to stay the night at her house with my other kid what what were you doing though like what what were you guys doing we're just hanging out like she doesn't drink she's a Church Girl and I was leaving to go pick up our food pick up our dinner okay that's why I left okay so did you have alcohol to drink I did she didn't I drank BN I drank when I got into her parking lot she I got there before she got home she had been to SP that day so you're in you in the parking lot drinking it's can't dve but yeah what time was that what time is it now it is 8:16 uh probably about 7:30 I had a shot and I had a beer before I left so beer probably about 7: I just shot about 7:30 how big was the beer I is it a Coors Banquet 12 O I don't know what size it it said beer at seven yeah and what was the shot of Fireball said cor's banquet yeah's b i people willing to take a breath light or anything okay I just I really want to call my husband and we're done okay yeah we can we can he's he's a couple hours away we can I I just heard something down there um we we can definitely facilitate that and so do you how how regularly do you drink I do have a drinking problem but I don't ever leave the house okay well I'm not I'm not trying to do anything like that with you I'm just curious because you're you're telling me that your first drink was at 7:00 I okay if we're being honest I I would love for you to be honest with me as I haven't drank 3 days say that again I haven't drank in 3 days okay and but before this before this I was drinking every day about five shots a day plus you know a few beers three or four beers okay and then for how long couple weeks 5 six weeks because one one of my concerns is that your first drink was at 7:00 Isabella told officer sa Andre that she had left her sister's house nearby with her one-year-old daughter to go in get food before she crashed into a house as he was speaking with Isabella officer St Andre detected the odor of alcohol and she readily admitted to consuming alcohol earlier that day based on his suspicion of impairment officer St Andre LED Isabella the sidewalk and offered her an opportunity to perform field sobriety exercises this is my first drink in a couple weeks in 3 days okay your first drink was at 7:00 and then your second drink was at 7:30 and you seem significantly more intoxicated than a beer and a shot tells me so have you have you had more alcohol to drink today no I earlier okay I started I had a drink at 3 okay okay but I started about I ended about 4: okay and I ended until about 7 when I left okay what what did you drink at three shots of Fireball how many uh what time uh 3 yeah about 4 uh 2: or 3 I my daughter for a we'll we'll get we'll get all that taken care of you're just crying for me yeah I mean it's a pretty pretty scary situation as you can probably I know I'm sorry it's my fault I know I just I need help so you had two to three shots of Fireball at 3:00 did you have anything else during that time no no and I had a cruise Banker right before I left at 7 or 630 okay um have you had anything to drink since stop stop in your vehicle no no you haven't add any other alcohol your vehicle stop no I stopped would you be willing to perform some voluntary fil all right I have to keep my slippers on did you talk to about can I get my slippers off or I have to keep them on no you can take them off if you want so I just want to confirm like your car you hit the house and then I don't I the car was coming on to me this I have admitted I hav't anything yeah I told just to my daughter just cry you want me to do the test not unless you're hankering for it I just want to hold my daughter for just a second okay hold on I know I wanted to I know I know I'm in trouble I know and I want to call my husband and just call my daughter you you want to hop on the sidewalk so we're in a safe place you need to talk to your anything else mon for your baby or anything my baby all right we're going to get out of here then okay yeah is she she's okay she seems to be okay yep she's safe with your sister yeah everything seems to be I'm so sorry guys yeah I know know testing the first field sobriety exercise was the horizontal Gaye night stagnis hgn test during the hgn test off officer St Andre observed lack of smooth Pursuit distinct and sustained NI stagnis at maximum deviation and the onset of nagus prior to 45° he also observed vertical nagus the second field sobriety test was the walk and turn test this was attempted multiple times since she was enabled to follow instructions during one of her attempts walk and turn test Isabella failed to touch Heel To Toe on each step and us her arms for balance the final field sobriety exercise was the one leg stand test during the one leg stand test Isabella failed to raise her foot in the proper fashion and put her foot down before the test was complete and I just a depress absolutely have you had any other medications I don't do any drugs I don't take any medications you Dr do you have any physical conditions I would keep you from falling tip of my pin with your eyes walk in a straight line you're balancing on one foot okay so through the through the duration of these tests I'm going to be evaluating you not only how well you perform the test but also how well you follow my instructions okay I'm going to give you instructions before we start each test and I do not want you to start the test until I tell you to start do you understand yes okay you stand with your heels and Toes together let's go a little bit more into the middle of the the concrete yeah it's a little bit more flat heels and Toes together arms directly at your side and I want you to follow tip of my pin with your eyes and your eyes only and do not move your head do you understand right here right where I'm you I want you to stay on that line with your left foot and your right foot directly in front in a heel to toe fashion arms directly at your side when you get into that position now all right when instructed to begin you're going to take a series of nine heel the toe steps down the line you've imagined on your ninth step you're going to leave your lead foot on the ground and you're perform a series of small steps around your lead planted foot return back to the line you've imagined and perform nine more heal the toe steps back once you start I want your eyes on your feet as you walk your arms directly at your side I want you to count your steps out loud and I do not want you to stop the test until you have completed it do you understand yes I will now demonstrate okay one two three she would be willing to take a preliminary breath test BBT Isabella agreed submit to apbt and the results indicated a back level of zero 53% which was more than triple the legal limit of 0.08% based on the motor vehicle accident the order of alcohol her admission to consuming alcohol her inability to adequately perform the field sobriety exercises and the results of the PBT officer St Andre placed Isabella under arrest for driving Under the Influence Isabella was placed in the patrol car and transported to the Pullman Police Department for further process assessing all right Isabella so I'm place you in in custody for DUI okay ma'am so you are under arrest for DUI okay today's date is the July 13th 2024 time is approximately 8:32 p.m. okay you're being audio and video recorded yeah as the implied consent warning and she agreed to submit breath samples for testing after the breathalyzer was administered her Alco test results indicated a back of 0.84% lowest IR result which was still more than double the legal limit after offices St Andre was finished with administering the breathalizer he placed Isabella in a cell feel right head right towards that chair where the brown chair get you those CS this on the seat yeah yeah do you know her okay [Music] for for for this done as quickly as we can y where's your husband at R coie 3 hours away he planing on coming back today or tonight if he needs to he doesn't drink all right these are your constitutional rights you read already in the field but I'm just going to read them to you again you have the right to remain in it's just until you can see a judge yeah um like I was saying so so CPS will be notified of the situation but your daughter's not going to get taken by CPS tonight she's in really good hands yeah and you you you hit somebody's house correct okay I'm I'm I'm just asking cuz I'm I'm trying to cuz I know we got multiple calls and you were one of them right my sister was your your sister was was it her house uh no okay no I was sleeping her house I left her street I I don't remember I'm sorry but my my daughter my kid will stay with my sister right yeah we're we are not going to go pick up your turned left I don't know what that road is I was trying to get my daughter to S before I went right to get her food and where did you start from uh I started from Barnes b a r n s Barn Street turns on to W and what time did you you leave 7 7:30 would be my guess I'm not sure what day of the week is it uh Friday or Saturday I'm sorry what city and county are you in home and wman what's the date uh for DUI before your daughter is one 14 months she's the only one in the car I wish I so do you feel like I've been honest with you so the the answer to my question is is not going to cause cause you to have additional charges for why you're here um but you mentioned to me that you believe that you need help yeah um and so how many times two-part question how many times do you think you have driven intoxicated and how many times have you done it with your daughter there um I usually don't drink with my kids in the car um usually my husband's at home so um maybe just honestly one or two times I've been drinking with them but I've been trying to stop drinking and I haven't been drinking the last 3 days does your husband know he doesn't know that you have a drinking problem is he gone for long periods of time my husband 4 years ago okay is he usually gone for long periods of time no he just went home I wasn't going to drink so what do you feel like you here decided to both my parents have drinking problems both them my dad has to eyes have been drinking for at least 20 years are you trying to suppress something I don't know I just think that it's always just been in my life I mean for being honest my all my dad drinks his Fireball my dad buys a 10 Fireball every single day and that's all I've ever seen my whole life um and I've always said it for my husband but if I ever need to leave my husband's always been home to take care of our kids you know whether that means to go to the store or I wait until you know 5 6:00 at night to drink and then I just drink the rest of the night and hide it from him and I know I'm sure he knows or has an idea of it he used to drink but stopped but I just like really I just my insurance so I can't afford or anything I wasam about a week ago but off my insurance and I just AFF it more I'm not just saying that just cuz I got pull over I don't think you are I really do I think this sh got my I mean so surprisingly with as many people as I've unfortunately arrested for DUI you are the actual first person to admit that they had a problem drinking I really want I see my husband and his parents they don't drink they never drink his mom has never had a sip alcohol in life and he's never seen alcoholism and he's never had an issue you know it's never stemmed from his family and so he just able to quit you know just like that at like 21 my whole life I was my dad you know get two DUI been in jail I've been out of the house for years my mom drinks like a box of wine every night and that's just what I grew up with you know thinking that's normal and I never wanted that for my kids and so when I started drinking you know like my dad I just I never wanted that for my kids but you know I was proud of my my 3 days sober I mean it that's where it has to start right I know and I'm so and when I bought the alcohol tonight I was so upset with myself so what so obviously the 3 days was a conscious effort yeah so like what what what are you thinking when you're getting ready to go buy it after 3 days well I was like cuz before when I buy alcohol so I only worked like I would watch another kid Monday through Thursday and so Thursdays were like my Friday you know and I was like oh go buy beer or I'm going to go buy like a shot or two you know and my husband was like do you really need that like blah blah blah but I was like yeah it's my Friday you know and so I would have one or two but then hide the rest from him you know like the shots and um and then when he left earlier today I finally I was like I'm tired of feeling the CP I'm tired of you know I was getting wakez I'm drinking every single night and I'm just tired of being a bad mom to my kids and just and so I said I'm tired of drinking but today just felt like every other Saturday you know it's the weekend I want drink my husband's G you know I don't want to sit at home by myself just drove me there said your sister drove you either no that's that's s on my sister home um the reason why I had my sister's car as her car is really old and so she had to go to Spokan and so I told her she could take my car and leave my car or leave her car with me and then I would just drive my car to or drive her car to her house since she had my car and I there with my kids but then I food drink before I left so the car seat was already in her car I almost I wish I like my daughter well I I hope you believe me when I say I I truly hope this is this is this is the end of it you know I'm not trying to be this person but you know I'm I go to church on Sunday I always praying and saying that I hope that sign that this is done maybe this is it so this is just saying that the only property I'm taking off your your two shoes y you'll be able to put your retainer back in once we get down sign out there [Applause] oh I hope everyone forgives me sh I for fun in my car or in the car you know um I'm not sure I don't I don't believe any any officer went into the car I think your sister just either moved it or or took it for for all right so just like we did and we were we were in the field just as big as breath as you can take in and from Republic but he is from Grand coie so he going be pretty disappointed since you know I know what this looks like on both sides of it well I mean he's been four years sober so I mean like I was saying hopefully this is the beginning of your sobriety and then you guys can just speak each other from yep definitely something that's easier to do with somebody that you care about yeah I agree and if you're having a hard time really wanting something and you just like telling you like absolutely not you can't tell them you don't know how this feels yeah right yeah so definely know and he wants to see he wants to say sober and I'm sure he'd definitely help me with anything that I need I just said need to be honest he's inside his concerns and he's asking me and I told him no you know multiple times and just the truth it's going to help you know one breath in as big as you can and blow keep going keep going keep going a little bit more keep going keep going keep going you going to see you sit on do you know about how many hours from here it'll be up to like a oh I I don't um it's it's been an oddly busy week okay and so that's going to depend on other calls that I have to
